I'm kinda resigned to that. Fortunately, there's plenty of other things to do. Do I want more low level things added to the game? Yes. Do I want them related to Praetoria? No.

If the Devs dedicated as much drive and attention to wrapping up the many, many storylines that have been left hanging over the years as they are to the Praetorian one, I'd be very happy.

    C'est la vie.

I'd make some kind of sexist comment just to get you all riled up for that but I'm sure someone more verbose will be along in a second.

In the meantime, please don't spoil the celebrations by slurring my home. It's not warranted or welcomed.

Apparently there'll be news about that on Monday or Tuesday.
  6. The server list merge just about overshadows the continuing Praetoria obsession and discounting of street clothes as 'non-heroic'. If it wasn't for that, I'd be disappointed.

Instead I can look forward to rolling up new alts on the formerly NA servers and meeting lots of new people.
  7. 1 Billion Inf costume contest update:

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...69#post3532269

In short, postponed till next week, the 19th. Thanks for all that came and we look forward to seeing you next week.
  8. Thank you to everyone that attended. Unfortunately, due to a low turnout, we've decided to re-run the event next Saturday on the 19th. The costumes that were there looked great so you've got another week to tweak them to perfection.

It makes NO sense whatsoever! They have Rikti invading.. Why not Praetorian raids? Update the game world to follow the new story line please! I doubt many will complain!
Or we could just let the Devs get Goatee Paragon out of their system fast so that we can get on with a decent storyline for a change.

Despite the good news on the server list merge, the news that the obsession with Praetoria continues unabated is still disappointing to me.

Sorry, knee jerk reaction on my part.

    I'm just so EXCITED!!!!

I can't wait to roll up on the US servers and hook up with you guys and gals!

  14. I'm not sure whether I can express my excitement in words. Never mind, found a lolcat to do it:

  15. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please let this be a real 'soon' and not a Dev's 'soon'.
  16. Miss Imari stood in front of the class, awaiting an answer. She was quite enjoying it here. This school, with its classes of boys going through their gradual awakening to being men was a prime place for her to absorb certain energies that they were giving off. As a succubus, she was adept at playing the tease and so her skirt was just a little too short, her blouse just a little too open.

The school was old fashioned but modern and as a demon, she had been overly qualified to take up the post as a teacher of Defence Against the Dark Arts. The last teacher had apparently annoyed a Hippogriff in the forest and hadn't been heard from again. Apparently it happened quite often, most previous holders of the post having the average life expectancy of a Spinal Tap drummer.

"So," she repeated, "can anyone tell me how to calm a gryphon without using magic?"

A small hand raised towards the back of the class. "Yes Henry," she smiled.

"Stroking its ears with your wand?" he ventured in a timid voice.

Imari smiled. "Very good Henry," she purred, toying with her black wand as she spoke, "sometimes it's all about where you put your wand..." Her wicked grin was clearly playing hell with the boys' hormones and she was loving every minute of it. "Now then..."

There was a sudden ripping sound, like someone undoing an enormous zip and a line of purple energy formed in the classroom. Through it stepped a lanky, dishevelled guy with untidy brown hair and dark glasses on. He was wearing a shabby, brown coat and had a classic 'Flying V' style guitar slung around his shoulder. He stopped to call back through the diminishing portal. "Awesome to jam with you guys! Be excellent to each other and good luck with the history assignment!"

The portal closed with a pop. The scruffy man turned to Imari, whipping off his shades.

"Dante?" asked Imari, slightly surprised. The clearly excited and dishevelled mage grinned in response.

"Sorry, was busy with a couple of guys from San Dimas," he replied, "had to cut it short though, we've got trouble. Someone's tampering with the dimensional walls. Again." It was only then he noticed the classroom staring at him. He smiled and waved.

"That makes it Tuesday right?" She frowned a little then turned to the children. "Class dismissed," she declared before returning to the mage. "Back home then?"

"For now," replied Dante, placing the shades back on. "Could be all kinds of hell coming through our way if we're unlucky." He took a pick from the neck of the guitar and made a circular motion in the air with it. The rim shimmered purple and then the centre seemed to ripple. "We'll come back, don't worry. Minerva still owes me a tenner from our last poker night."

And with that he stepped into the rippling portal and vanished. Imari took a moment to give a cheeky wink to Henry, still awestruck by the spectacle before she took stepped into the swirling mists. The portal closed with a snap behind them.

Now since this is more an RP issue than anything else (and really, I don't think Cole wants to give power to anyone he can't just rip it away from, so since he can to his Praetors, and not likely to you the player character...why would he...when in an RP perspective, while you may be loyal, Cole will never truely trust he can hold total control over you).

One could easily say they're loyal to Cole and just run all that content out of characterly. Had to do that myself to get access to electical powers for my main, a DB/WP/Mu Scrapper.
Just for clarity, perhaps you could tell us what those options are?

And it's not just an rp issue, it's poor storytelling. The Devs introduce an option for being a loyalist which is then forgotten about the moment you get dumped into Primal Earth.

I certainly hope that GG is right and that future issues show us what happens to those loyal to Cole.

Agreed. Plus the point still stands that a loyalist who goes redside when they leave Praetoria has no contact with Praetorians again until the Apex and Tin Mage TFs. From a story point of view, that loyalists are effectively abandoned and assumed to be against Cole once they go on to become Incarnates.

I sincerely hope that GG is right and that there will be more development of the factions stories as right now, they have no purpose and presuppose that everyone is in opposition to Cole by the endgame. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the story arcs added to the 20-30 levels on either side would continue their story but I've seen no evidence of that so far. I must have been mistaken.

I know, it's still a contributing factor. Plus I'm hanging out for a revamp of Dark Astoria. Or the Shadow Shard. Or Boomtown. I can hope can't I?

That's not a BAD thing, but it's a definite factor.
That and the Devs' unwillingness to go back and revamp areas, preferring instead to create more new and shiny areas that thin the population even more. I'm not saying I don't like new zones, I do, but each time a new one is added, it spreads as even thinner.

I'm curious to see what comes up tomorrow. If the answer to 'what is next' for CoX is 'more Praetoria' there might be screaming. :P
  24. Dante

    Introducing...

Congratulations Fea. Bright blessings to you and your new family.

As for looking after them while playing, I can tell you that the bright lights and flashing colours will keep them entranced for a while but only for a while. These days my girl likes to press the big, red 'OFF' button on my PC while I'm in the middle of TFs.

If the Devs introduce something that allows us to either support Cole or work in a way alligned with our chosen morality, I might change my mind about the current storyline. As it is, it renders any morality choices we make up to 50 utterly pointless.

Once again villains have to team up with heroes for "the greater good" or whatever excuse is flavour of the month. If we get the chance to actually be villainous for a change, I'll happily eat my words. Not going to hold my breath though.
