Fire/SS
I don't tend to play a lot of TF's so a reasonably tough but very hard hitting tank suits me fine.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same for me, just because it was my original tank and it gives me the chance to prove the "fire tanks are squishy and suck" crowd wrong every chance I get. It's also a very easy tank to play with lots of utility powers and great with managing aggro.
Human Torch and Hulk were also two of my favorite comic characters as a kid so it kind of gives me the chance to have aspects of both in my toon. -
I agree with the earlier posts about the level range. I normally end up soloing or playing primarily with SG buddies from 1-20 just because you are pretty weak as a tank overall. You don't really have the slots or enhancements to make your defense/resistance all that great and your offense is laughable until it gets slotted up. I love tanks, but in the early levels we just don't bring a lot to the table.
You won't have that problem in the later levels though. I have a SG mate who is Shields/SS at lvl 50 and he can do some ridiculous things with that toon. I still think Shield Charge is the coolest attack in the game. -
IMO Rise of the Phoenix is a waste of time on a Fire Tank, but there are hundreds of threads you can dig up to see that debate. I took temp protection for the slow resist because after taking tough, it just seemed like slow was the only annoyance to my tank.
I also picked up the IO that came out during the winter event that offers up some additional slow resist and put that in one of my travels. My 2ndary is SS so I am also using the knockback set that grants 3 points of KB protection in a couple of powers so I can phase out acrobatics. -
Happy Memorial Day everyone! I am unfortunately stuck at work today, but it will probably be quiet...a.k.a...boring as hell, lol. Hope everything is having a fun time sleeping in and bbq'ing and whatever other fun things you are doing today!

Having played in game with mscats I know she is a pretty decent player of the game and like all the rest of us, she is entitled to her opinion.
I don't plan on leaving the game and honestly I think some people do take this game a bit too seriously. I have been playing for over 4 years now and take every game change in stride as I am not one of those people where COH becomes life or death for me.
The only problem I really see with what is going on is that it seems the devs could have corrected this problem(in beta) before it happened and decided to just ignore it and see what unfolded. Now they are going after a fly with a bazooka to fix the problem and that is enough to make a lot of people angry and leave. You have to look at how they are handling the situation and just think what might happen if something else goes wrong with "how people play the game" and they have to step in again. I think most of the uproar is caused by the way the devs have handled the aftermath.
Anyways, Rock I don't think I have ever teamed with you in-game, but I know you were a great contributor to the Infinity forums and probably in-game as well so you will be missed! GL and hope you change your mind! -
If I can get off work early enough I may show up for this!

Good luck with your contest and sorry to hear about your brother. I wish I could make it but I'll be out of town this weekend and away from the PC.

Vacation is overrated with the amount of work that piled up for me while I was gone...
-
1 more day till I go on vacation. Not really going anywhere, I just took 2 days vacation this week because I need time off work, lol.
I don't think she can post if her account is inactive, I know I was trying to post while mine was the last few months and it told me I needed a valid COH account. -

As a hero, you were given a contact in City Hall depending on your origin. Since you're over level 5, they won't give you any more missions, but will introduce you to another contact - that contact will send you to the Hollows to go talk to Wincott if you haven't already talked to him.
You don't have to do Wincott's missions, nor do you have to even do those contact missions. If you choose to, he'll have you do a few missions, then introduce you to two other contacts - Meg Mason, who provides random missions similar to the police scanner; and Flux, who continues with the storyline in the zone.
As was said before, you can go to King's Row. When you first enter the zone, a contact will show up on your navigation bar - this is a detective who gives you a police scanner. The scanner counts as a contact (you click on it from your contacts tab) and it gives you a selection of 3 random generic missions. After 3 of those, you're given the option to take a Safeguard mission or not, where you prevent a bank robbery.
If you take the Safeguard, once you complete it (succeed or fail) you'll be introduced to a new contact. If you succeed, you'll also be given a temporary power - for levels 5-10 this is a Raptor Pack (a jetpack that gives you 2 hours of flight time - note that the time only counts while it's active, so you can keep it a long time by conserving it). At 10-14 it's a Zero-G pack which provides a mimic of Super Jump.
There... poorly formatted, but most of it's there. You also have the option of just heading to the AE building and running architect missions the whole way up.

This.
Def pick up the two "free" travel powers doing radios and banks in KR. They come in real handy for the early levels. I actually like doing the Hollows missions because after you get past Wincott you can get some good ones. Frostfire and Atta are both great xp missions and will help you learn how to work as a team early on. After the Hollows you are normally high enough to head to Faultline which also has some really cool mission arcs and plenty of contacts.
If you are coming over from WOW welcome to COH and enjoy! There are a lot of differences from WOW that will take some getting used to. I actually tried WOW for a bit after playing COH for almost 3 years and just couldn't get used to the classes and how the healing worked. The archetypes in COH are a little bit more broad and have more options available to them than you do with WOW. -

She's not playing CoX anymore?
I'm a sad panda now.

Yeah that's too bad, she was a fun member of the Infinity community.
I never really get bored of the game, I usually just leave for a bit if I need to free up some money for bills and I just had to move recently so COH got cut out for a bit. I guess I just don't take it as serious as some people do, to me it's just fun to play a superhero and run around beating up bad guys. I love the new architect feature as well.
I also haven't found any other MMORPG that I like better, although I may try out the Star Trek one when it finally comes out or the Star Wars KOTOR one they are working on. -
I live where I work so I could always come hook up my desktop in the comp lab until I get my internet set up, it's just a pain to have to bring it from the apt, lol. I have wireless, but everybody around me has security so I can't "borrow" from them.
-
This Monday is dragging on. I am super bored. Just reactivated my account and then moved to a new apt and don't have internet yet...doh.
-
I'm glad to see this thread is still going!
I've been gone for about 3 months but I am back on after today, just reactivated and bought the magic pack to for the new costume stuff. Going to try out the architect tonight.
-
I have been gone for about 3 months, but I am back as of today!

So a co-worker just bribed me into joining "Mafia Wars" on facebook by buying me lunch, haha...now I have something to waste time with at work when it's slow.
-
Yeah Saturday is really the only day of the week I like. I get to sleep in on Sundays but still have that "tomorrow is Monday" dread.
-
This is rent week at the apt complex I work at so Tuesday is just as bad as Monday, haha.
