I understand people who work on the weekends try to take time off to get extra play time in on Double XP Weekends. Last I knew most places allow you to request time off 2 weeks in advance. Just ask for it again. Not that I am trying to make light of it all.
I work in IT. I am on call 24/7 (Hell I had to do emergency work for clients on my VACATION last year). It sucks, but it is part of life.
I also set up and organize The Cape Radio's Double XP Music and Madness Weekend, where we make sure to have live DJs on for the whole Double XP Weekend. I have had to cancel the schedule for this weekend and open up sign ups for the new dates. It happens. There are some DJs who were originally scheduled, who now won't be because of conflicts. It happens. I will actually be "working" as part of the station all weekend, making sure everything gets covered, that our server doesn't have any issues, and that things go smooth from my end. It happens.
The now I can't play group due to working on the weekends, do you work 24 hours a day? I doubt it, so use what time you don't have to work to play. Those that can't because they are out of town, busy with a wedding, family stuff etc... where they won't be near their machines, Yes it sucks. In the same breath, this is only a game. Its not a life or death thing.
Also, Double XP Weekends are a perk, a gift from Paragon Studios and NCSoft. They don't have to do them. Heck we have gone over a year without them between 2010 and 2011 (Yes the last one was the first time in a year they had it).
For those that say this is the last straw, Paragon screwed up, well, there is no pleasing you. they would have run it this weekend, it would have been messed up, and you would have said, "Paragon Screwed up." Go find an MMO that has such a responsive group of Devs, such an awesome community, and gives perks like CoH does. I wish you luck on that.
For those who say nothing good has happened to CoH in over a year, that is an opinion I don't share, and don't state something like that as a fact, because it is an opinion. One which you are allowed, but one which I don't share.
Good luck to everyone, Enjoy the game, Stay Super, and I'll catch you on the flip side. -
No matter when it is, it will affect someone. They had given us 2 weeks notice for it starting this weekend, and now they pushed it back 2 weeks. Same amount of notice. Does it suck? Yes! Am I glad that they found an issue before it started and everyone complained about how poorly it was done? Heck yes!
No matter what happens someone isn't going to like the decision made. I know of some people who couldn't be around for it this weekend and will for the push back weekend. Can't pelase everyone all the time.
Thanks Paragon for nipping problems in the rear before they got to us. -
Quote:On the subject of "Pocket D is srz RP", I can not take a dance club as a serious place to do anything. It's a dance club. You hang out, unwind, and relax there. That's the kind of RP I'd expect to see and would be fine with. But I see so often epic battles of heroes vs. villains, literal gods god moding everywhere, constant ERP, and general jack ***** that feel the need to be better than you and cause a conflict. That's, like, the opposite place to unwind, kick back, and have fun. Then there's the whole "Lore says we can't fight here, but we do it anyway!" bit. If you wanna battle, take it to the ruins of RWZ or the arena terminals.
I used to use the D as a hangout spot for months and rarely did I ever see general hang out RP. So that's why I avoid it, at least.
I'm in there a few times a week, hanging around Cape Radio shows (Or DJing one myself) and we have plenty of general RP around us. -
It can, and it has at times. Yes there is fluff there, but you know what, it got a bad repuation without being given a fighting chance. Why not say that Atlas Park haz serious RP? Heck, I've seen more ERP passing through Talos Island than I have in Pocket D. I also don't see as many catgirls in Pocket D, or server wide as in the past. Don't try to force an opinion held by some on others.
That being said, Yes, good RP can be tough to find. Everyone has their own style, their own thoughts and their own way of doing it. Good storys bring in an emotional investment.
The funny thing is watching people bash each other for their own style of RP, where they want to RP, or their backgrounds. Especially considering that people who don't RP make fun of RPers. Think about it. Do you know the age of the person playing that character with the well thought out background, or the one with the cheap cheeses background? Do you know how long they have been RPing? Are the new to the idea? Do they have problems coming up with backgrounds, and are more of an instinctive RPer, adapting to the situation?
I am not saying that people shouldn't be cautious or you need to accept everyone, just that I would really think long and hard before dissing someone cause of where they RP, or how they RP. -
All have their merrits, well except for Twilight. Still I have to agree. Star Wars all the way baby!

Quote:Get some Smart Water. None of the bullcrap, its water with the electrolytes. Not much..Was sick all week..had to get blood work done Saturday..Ever since 4th of July this year, every time I go out in the heat and humidity I get headaches and my stomach starts churning..I do drink plenty of water too. Dr says it could be something as simple as electrolyte deficiency or hypo/hyper glycemea (sp?). Im hoping I just need gatorade.
Would like to try all the new trials though before my next surgery on August 1st.
Morning All. -
I will miss Galaxy City also. Met some cool people there.
The biggest problem with open RP is too many different styles, people not taking new people in, and basically it splintering into a bunch of SGs and private stuff.
Why talk about RP here, when you can do it on your SG website and not incur the wrath of those who "know the right way to RP" and claim you RP wrong?
Why RP with strangers in an open space, be it pocket d, studio 55(which is a pretty empty place), studio b in the AE buildings, or even prometheus park, when you can play it safe with people you know?
I remember Killer Whale showing me the ins and outs of getting into RP in Gemini, and even then, most people just ignored my characters, even when I would try to interject.
I do spend a ton of time in Pocket D, and I see every type of RP there, from well thought out good stuff, to flippant, I am here to relax stuff, to ERP. Yes there can be a bunch of jerks there, but you can fnd areas where they aren't.
If we really want an open RP place again, then choose a spot and just do it. Hang out there, let others know.
Whining and complaining wont do anything to further the RP scene. -

Tribbles????
*Makes himself some Kona Coffee without Tribbles*
Who thought Tribbles would be a good idea?
*Looks around*
PUPPEH!!!!! -
Welcome Welcome Welcome!
Depending on the type and size of SG, and how much RP you want involved with it, we have many many good SGs(VGs) to choose from. You will find people will ask questions about what sort of group you are looking for so they can point you in the right direction.
Oh, and by the way, if you see a strange multicolored, superbright, neon thing with a Grren Afro, don't be concerned. That's just The Cape Radio's DJ Cozmic. -

WELCOME BACK POGO!!!!
B2526!
*Grabs his coffee and flees* -
Honestly, why not complain about other threads in the past also. I have seen manynof them come and go.
The biggest reason people I know have stopped with the Virtue forums is due to being trolled, being told they are stupid for their opinions, and the ammount of dumb drama that tends to go on the Virtue forums.
As far as loosing other threads, i havent had a single issue with that and any announcement by The Cape, an SG or anything else. You want a reason there is so many Rookery threads? Cause people stopped posting long before the rookery due to treatment by the jerks that can be around here. -
Quote:Well folks, I know I don't talk much on these forums, and I am really sad about the F2P since I know some of my favorite people will not play a F2P game,
and even though I dislike F2P as well I have decided to stick around on virtue even if there is no point if the last few classic Virtuans go.
I hope to run in to some of you in some other game I might start playing around the end of the year. (hint Light) but I plan to always do my usual logins and random play style.
Ummm.. As far as I know there are plenty of "classic" virtue people still around. Course now maybe some of the more troublesome ones will return. -
