TA itself is 1 big problem, so i rather see them fix that first then giving it some coloring.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lol, fair enough. Just started playing a TA/Arch Defender and it's not too bad to play so far. (Hopefully the next patch will do as it suggests and solve the issue with netting and ice not synchcronising to the arrows.)
  2. Sounds silly, but no customisation for TA? It has ice and fire and a whole other bunch of stuff that could be recoloured (entangling arrow netting, spooge arrow glue colour, poison Gas cloud, acid colour etc..)

I realise that these 'powers' are less super than other powers and I guess Fire is fire and Ice is ice (although I think that tthe Ice powers in CoX are too blue) but who says that glue has to be white? poison gas has to be dark green? Netting has to be yellow? Etc..

well, happily that's about to become a non-issue.

Probably the best thing about a forum merge. A single, central place for the Dev's to post for everyone.

    Power Sugestion

Lol, I got annoyed at making one of my characters say something everytime I did a costume change, having them say something everytime I set off an ability, even an ab with a long recharge time would get even more annoying for me as well as anyone else who can hear it.

If I did feel the need to have one liners in a mission and I was RPing that mission, I'd macro them individually and use them (very sparingly, perhaps just at the boss and using $ commands) just before I set off an ab.
  6. Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't know exactly what the case will be, they're probably making it up as they go along, or communication with their web design section is pants.
  7. [ QUOTE ]

Although why on earth people would refuse buffs when there are no limits, like other games, is beyond me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well it may seem silly to some, but it also seems to be perfectly reasonable to others. I agree though that perhaps it is getting a bit complicated, but as pointed out earlier, a prompt window for every buff would get annoying and silly in a group mission. Plus at the moment buff powers aren't designed to have a few seconds decision time within their animation like the MF buff does.

However when someone is standing there trying to have a conversation or RP and someone who can buff passes by feels the need to buff everyone they can in the area (this is pre colour customisation btw) is annoying, especially if you're trying to take screenshots too.
  8. I'd like to see player actions having impacts on the world as long as it doesn't interfere (too much) with other players.

Oh, and as for "lrn2read", there's no need to get personal, but my response is "learn to write" - I apparently misread what you said, Croesis (having read what you wrote as actually being an on-topic point about colour, since that's what you started talking about, not buffs as a whole), so next time make what you say clearer, hmm? "It" is the indefinite article and can far too easily be misconstrued without clarification.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No one else seemed to have trouble in understanding what I wrote. If you had read the entire post properly, you would have understood it like the others. Considering that an entire conversation was born of my originating comment and you just waded in to troll GG's post just shows that you didn't even initially read my post or any of the posts on the subject previous to GG's post. Hence the lrn2read, not just my post but also the thread itself.

Anyway, back OT. An option to revert the colours would be simpler to achieve, even though it would negate the choices of colour the buffer has made for their character, but would solve the issue.

The option to remove unwanted buffs would be harder to implement (possibly the addition of a termination code for each buff available in-game and associating that code with the appropriate buff icon etc.. I'm no coder or Dev) but would also mean that the buffer's colour choice actually means something and would solve any issue of unwanted buffs/griefers.

Either would be fine, both great but if we could only have one, I'd prefer the second.

Re: Canceling Buffs, try doing a 3 year suggestions search...

    [/ QUOTE ]

With the new options coming in, a fresh conversation on the topic instead of simply leaving it or necroing an old thread is fine. In fact it's even more pertinent and appropriate appropriate now. And since this thread is about colour customisation and the abilities of creating very undesirable buff colours and the associated grief potential, it's not exactly off topic.

    [ QUOTE ]
GG, as far as I can tell, you are the only person talking about that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

er... actually, Croesis is the first person that mentioned being able to cancel buffs, and Zortel has spoken about it too, all GG is saying is to make it an option at casting, like with MF, instead of a cancel option like the others have said!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Indeed. Someone should lrn2read.

Anyway as GG said it was a natural progression. There are two trains of thought, both originating from the point that with new colours comes great chances for griefing. The immediate solution to it (other than reporting the griefer) would be either to have the ability to turn off any buffs at will or have them change to normal colour on the person.

If I'm honest I'm leaning more to the side that buffs should reflect the chosen colour of the caster (because the majority of people buffing will not be griefers) else what is the point in choosing them? This really leaves a turn off option which gives the recipient a choice; put up with the colour and the benefits of the buff or turn it off and lose those benefits. No having cake and eating it too, just because you don't like a chosen colour.

Having said that, that's just my opinion, either solution would be welcomed (in varying degrees) I suspect.

But doesn't WoW have some sort of buff refusal option? How does that work?

    [/ QUOTE ]

On WoW, you can right click on a buff icon to remove it from yourself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

WoW isn't unique in that, at least one other MMO I've played allowed you to remove buffs by Shift+Right clicking on the buff icon. Mind you in that MMO you were restricted to how many buffs you could have on you at any one point so being able to choose which ones to remove in favour of new ones was quite helpful.

Also, it only worked on buffs of course, not debuffs, in case anyone was wondering.

Despite bringing the subject up, I'm still in two minds about the buff colours. I can see both sides of the point (Buffs should reflect the giver's choice in colours but the colours might look ridiculous) and while a refusal or removal may be more aesthetically pleasing, the results of the buff itself may be welcomed.

Any of the solutions given which gives the recipient a choice (buff refusal/buff removal/buff colour reset) would be appreciated. To further the refusal idea, why not have selectable options in the menu giving: Refuse All buffs, Accept all buffs, Accept team member buffs only etc..

Perhaps couple that with an additional setting choice of a 'player determined' which when ticked, if someone attempts to buff a player outside of the settings above (i.e. player set to team buffs only and non team member attempts to buff) then an accept/refuse prompt appears.

Only issue with this is the animation for the buff looking disjointed between being casted and being accepted. Mystic Fortune was made with an accept/refusal box in mind, the other weren't.

the fitness pool has no gfx

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly and it's not a useless pool either.
  14. Well personally I make a macro so that I click on the appropriate costume when I want without opening the costume window, plus it means I can choose which costume change emote to use and badge title with each costume.

Still hopefully, if it's a bug, then it'll get fixed... sometime..
  15. Which makes me wonder about buff powers, if someone buffs you with a power that creates an aura or armour will you be subjected to their choice of power colouring? If that's the case I would love a way for players to be able to shift+right-click a buff power icon to deactivate it if they want to.
  16. I was equally disappointed when I found out that I couldn't grab some of those badges I missed (due to lack of knowledge about safeguard missions and because I levelled up with normal contacts past the area level requirements) via the flashback system.

I know you can still get the badges by joining those doing them normally, but it's hard to find people doing it when you're looking unless you monitor the channels as given above.

I would love for safeguard missions (perhaps via flashback police scanner missions) to be available so I can grab the badges I missed.

I almost.. almost thought that regardless of reg date etc.. it would be the EU people who will be the ones required to change. Hopefully thats just a generic message that got posted on both EU and US boards.

Good. Another good thing is that with the merge, I won't need to not bother searching the US forums for answers on stuff.

Ending it at 9pm over here would seem rather silly.

    Agreed
  19. Handy to know. Mind you I enjoyed the run through Steel on my lvl 2 characters!

It's probably based on US timings now. No-one wants to stay in the NCWest office until 5 in the morning to turn it off for us so we have to go with when they want to go home.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Forgive me if I'm wrong (timezones aren't my strong suit), but the west coast of the US is about 8 hours behind the UK. So finishing it at 9pm UK time means they are finishing it at what? 1pm US west coast time on Sunday? Not a long weekend if thats the case.

Naming isn't an issue for me luckily, I'm Carnifax both sides of the pond.

As for your handles, we will be giving you more information on name conflicts and what to do to change yours after we have made sure that everything is functioning properly on the new vBulletin Message Boards. We appreciate that this is a serious concern, but rest assured we are aware of the situation and will endeavor to minimize any impact this will have.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I do hope the naming conflicts are handled based on date of registration. I can imagine some long timers here being REALLY <bleeped> off if they lose their name to someone who regged a week ago...

I'm happy with the way there doing things as i was expecting them to do the power pools/epics first with maybe a small selection of the more wide spread powers.

So I'm glad they've done the primaries and secondarys first.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What he said. Happy that, because of the work required and the timeframe alotted to do the work in, pretty much everyone can customise a large proportion of their powers from the start.

I'm not sure - I think this counts as "Very Soon", which isn't quite the same as "Soon".

Well.. I'm still a noob when it comes to NCSoft timing phraseology.
