It is a bit...offputting that the Dev's made this huge of an oopsie and nobody even noticed that suddenly SD was Godmode.

    But it was sure fun!
so how long has Shield been "god mode"? just wondering how badly they are going to screw my only good toon.
  2. And I wanted to input my advice. My main toon is a Broadsword/Shield scrapper named CODF. On a build that cost roughly 200-400 mil, I have almost softcapped defense (its about 45-50-ish), and hasten is down for less than 20 seconds. To put it in a nutshell, this character is just flat out devestating in PvE, but quite useless in a PvP match. At +3x6 difficulty, I can handle a whole mob of Bobcat's praetorians pounding on me for about 3-5 minutes straight, and they NEVER last that long once I start fighting back. My second favorite power in the set is against all odds. Between build up, against all odds, and the already heavy-hitting attacks from my broadsword, I can make Fire/ blaster's jealous with my big orange numbers. BUT... PvP players and some AVs manage to cut through Shield's incredible power and decimate me rather quickly. so if you want a greart PvE fighter, shield is the way to go. for PvP, not exactly the best :S
  3. wait, wait, wait... When you say Shield Charge is bugged and dealing nearly double damage, do you mean it has been doing so since it was made, or just recently? I mean has it recently been doubled and is being set back to original, or has it always been double and the devs have JUST caught it (if this is the case, that's just sad)
  4. I could make a commercial for the game. Of course it'd be seen by like 3 people on youtube and no more :P
  5. if I can put my two cents in: the game needs more exposure. Every person I talk to knows what WoW is, but virtually Nobody I know has even heard of City of Heroes. I've played WoW, and CoH is the better game, and if more people knew about it, we would do alot better

    Help with Mid's

Hey, I have no idea where I should list this thread, but I figured this was a safe bet. I have recently replaced my old HP computer running windows XP with a new HP laptop and a Dell Desktop. Both of the new systems are running Windows 7, and neither of them can properly install Mid's Hero Designer. Once I begin installation, it gives me a warning message saying that a file could not be written properly, and gives me three options: Abort, Retry, and Ignore. I pressed retry about 20 times with no result, so I finally pressed ignore. Then it instantly brought up a second message saying another file could not be written. I pressed ignore, and did the same when about 70 similar windows opened. Basically, none of the files could be properly written. Ive had identical issues on both of my new systems, so could it be that Mid's is incompatible with Windows 7? please help

By weekend I meant a friday OR saturday night. and thanks to the guy who posted the alternative strategy, I will probobly combine a bit from yours and mine. Also, if anyone is interested, Spread the word! tell ppl to check out this post if they want to join. I cant do this by myself.
  10. I have a few more notes: I will request that all raiders change one costume slot into a hamikini for the raid, which is an extremely low detail costume. With a large amount of raiders, lag will be intense on slower comps (like mine). Everyone wearing basic, low detail costumes will lighten that. Also, I realize that if a majority of raiders are heavily set-bonused, it will probobly NOT take 40-50 people like it says on wiki. But I figure the more people who get to join, the better
  11. I have been playing this game for a long time (I just recently recieved my 57 month veteran badge), and have accomplished about all there is to do PVE wise Blueside. All except killing Hamidon, that is. I think its about time I changed that. I've been listening to chatter for a while, and have heard very little about hami raids on pinn. So I'm forming my own. I will say again: I HAVE NOT DONE A HAMI RAID. I have, however, done a fair share of research, have a good understanding the strategy, and I have pretty awesome skills (not as arrogant as it sounds). I realize that reading about it isnt the same as personal experience, and so I will not hold the possision of raid leader if a more player wishes to lead. I have a leader in mind now, but theyre schedule is uncertain, and I will need a backup. While I don't plan to be a raid leader, I WILL be leading one scrapper team. My scrapper hits like a train, and he is by far my best toon. Now, I hope to do this raid within the next few weekends, between the hours of 5 and 10 PM EDT. Now, here is what I would prefer as far as participating toons:

About 4-6 tanks, preferably stone, but I dont care as long as you can take a damned good hit. These would join a team with 2-4 healers to keep them alive, forming the Nucleus Aggro team.

about 12 scrappers and an additional 4 buffers (preferably Hp, regen, disorient prot., and heals) to split into 2 teams (6 scrapper, 2 buffer) to down the yellows. I also ask that all these players have a fly power, temp or otherwise, to stay near to eachother and the targets. These are the Yellow Spike Teams.

This Team didn't seem to be listed in the Paragon Wiki articles I read, but I would also love a team or two similar to the Yellow Spike Teams consisting of buffers and blasters instead of buffers and scrappers. These are the Blue Spike Teams.

I have another team in mind, consisting of 4-6 buffers with fast recharging rezzes, and recall friend. These are the Medic Teams. Because hosping results in a long absence from the raid and the risk of a leech taking your open spot in the zone, these teams will keep people on their feet. If someone dies, drop from your team, send a broadcast asking for a medic, they will invite to team, recall, rez, and send you back in the fight to rejoin your team.

Lastly, all other raiders will divide into Assault Teams, usually with a mix of buffers, debuffers, and damage. Each assault team needs one controller, as they will be the teams to wipe out the greens, and provide additional damage for the nucleus.

In addition, at least 2 people per team need the Assemble the team veteran power. I will explain more later. Now that you know my preferred raiders, here is my strategy:

    1: Yellow Phase:
During this phase, the Yellow Spike Teams will begin wiping out Mito Antibodies (yellows) one by one, and escaping the cytoplasm if danger sets in. During this time, the Nucleus Aggro Team will keep the nucleus busy, and other raiders will keep the mending mito's (greens) busy. Once all Antibodies are dead, we move on to...

    2: Blue Phase:
During this phase, the Blue Spike Teams will move from Mito Electrolyte (blues) to Electrolyte, eventually wiping them all in a single sweep. Again, the Nucleus Aggro Team holds the nucleus's attention, while other raiders distract the greens. Once all blues are dead, we go to...

    3: Green Phase:
At this point, all raiders (save the aggro team and medics) focus on the greens. If All focus on one, and trollers keep them held, they will be wiped fairly fast. Now that all of the Mito's are dead, go to..

    4: Nucleus Phase:
Here's the fun part. Once all the mitos are dead, everybody charges the nucleus. With all raiders focusing on this target, we will have sufficient damage to beat his regen. When he nears the 75% HP mark, one person per team (with assemble the team) evecuates the cytoplasm. As soon as hami hits 75% HP, 6 of each of the mitos will spawn yet again. This is called a bloom. The second this happens, the person who evacuated will pop ATT and get everyone out to avoid a full raid wipe. After the bloom, the first 3 steps are repeated, and once the bloom is cleared, return to the nucleus. Blooms occur 3 time, when the nucleus is at 75%, 50%, and 25% Hp. after the 3rd bloom, we all just pound the hell out of the Nucleus 'til it drops.

I realize its not a perfect strategy, and I would appreciate if anyone would post some tips.
  12. Oh, and one more thing: to all you peeps saying that toons with just SOs are cripple, I ask you: how do you think people got to lvl 50 before the invention system even existed? You do realize that IOs havent been around forever, right?
  13. Here's my comments: first of all, scrapers are my single best AT. My scrapper (broadsword/shield) managed to do just about any story arc at +2x1 diff, without any IO sets (I had mostly lvl 30-ish generic IOs all the way up to 50). So yes, scrappers can do just about anything PvE if they play smart and enhance right. That being said, invest in IO sets. I found a build that cost only about 500-700mil, which seemed like alot at the time. But after I ran a few high lvl TFs and spent the merits on lvl 50 gold recipe rolls and sold the recipes from that, I got the cash relatively fast. The character was pretty sweet before, but this build ALMOST softcapped his defense, and got him near-perma hasten, and now he breezes clean through anything at +3x5, or +2x6. One more tip: if you decide to IO it up, do it on your secondary build. that way you can go back to yuor current build if you run out of cash half way through, or decide you dont like the results.
  14. My Soldier, soon to be Bane Spider is named Operative Battlescar. He's in a pact with a widow named Agent-Anarchy
  15. Ok, I had to run a Faathim the Kind and a Dr. Quarterfield task Force for money, but I finally managed to get this build on CODF. Well almost, still need the enhancements for Petrifying Gaze, but then I will be done. Thank you so much for the build, CODF is now my best toon by far.

Ok, a few things. First, I play at +3x2. Depending on the enemy group (I play at a lower diff for malta and Carnies, Sappers, Zeus Titans, and Master Illutionists give me alotta trouble), I may drop to +2x2. I always play at +3x3 with my Kinetics friend. When he gets Fulcrum shift (he is only lvl 29 now) and I get some great defense, I will set to +3x5 or 6.

Anyway, my biggest point is thanks for the build! Though I may tweak it just a bit. I will most likely put Hasten at lvl 12 where you put combat jump, Super Speed at 14 where you get Super Jump, and stealth at lvl 30 where you got hasten. After All, Comat jump isn't exactly a HUGE defense boost, and if I already have hasten, I may as well get Super Speed to save a power choice, and I am a fan of Stealth/super speed invisibility, espeically when I speed through ouro flashbacks for merits and badges. I punched my slightly editted build in Mid's, still seems great. But aside from those 3 changes, I think I'll use almost this exact build. Thanks again! I will let you know how it turns out.

  18. Hey all, I got really bored and messed with FRAPS one day. here are the results. lemme know what ya'll think!

This is szpek. She's the matriarch of my account, first lvl 50.

Nexus of the Shade my mid-level (36 currently) Warshade. He may be the coolest toon on my account, this isn't a great pic.

Lil' Ki Cass, she's a 4 foot tall martial arts scraper

CODF, he is my favorite toon. Broadsword/Shield Scrapper, and I have thought of every single detail of his backstory. Seems like the more I like a toon, the worse the screenshot is.

This is more proof of the "Great toon = bad screenshot" rule I mentioned. Name is Agent-Anarchy. Dual pisols/devices. This is my favorite screenshot, but I don't like the toon enough to play past lvl 6.

All of the enhancements are Generic IOs. I realize some are a bit low level-wise, but as I'm trying to get set bonuses on this toon, updating these Generic IOs now would be a waste of influence. I'm not exactly the wealthiest player out there. I think I have about 400mil between all my toons on Pinn. I also left out my inherent powers. They all have one slot, and all are empty aside from a lvl 30 Recharge Reuction in rest

Typically you'd have to have around 110% global recharge (via set bonuses, including LoTG recharge bonuses) to have a shot at being perma hastened, and that would assume hasten was at least 3 slotted.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're meaning something different than what you wrote. Post a build (doesn't have to be exact) and we'll go from there.
I guess "within a hair" was a tad of an overstatement. But with Hasten on auto, I usually only have about 20-35 seconds with it off. The 40% recharge buff from my Kinetic Friend's Speed Boost actually does make it perma. I really don't know how, but it does. Hasten is in fact 3-slotted with generic IO recharge reductions, and I think the 70% from hasten itself plus the 40% from speed boost combine to the 110% you mentioned.

Oh, and I will post an almost exact build with powers and their slotting, but I can't for the life of me tell you the level at which I get everything. I'll try to have it posted by tonight, I'm just a little busy at the moment
  21. Very useful guide. though I have one major issue with it. Why did you trash the Shield Charge? Its an incredibly useful way to start a fight. My Scrapper can pop Build up, and the shield charge into a mob. This actually drops or severely damages every minion (if it doesnt kill em, Whirling sword does every time), and brings lueys down enough for me to drop with one headsplitter or disembowel. So shield charge actually lets me drop a mob 2 -3 lvls higher than me in 2 or 3 attacks. its an awesome power.
  22. I have a lvl 50 BS/SD scrapper named CODF. I've had him for nearly a year, and he may be the biggest bad*ss on my account. He hits like a freight train, and the only toon I have that can even match him in damage is a blaster. However, he has a few key weaknesses. He has an issue with recharge speed, he has extreme endurance problems, and his ranged/AoE damage is only 17%. He has almost 40% defense to melee after one parry, and if he needs to, he can keep it at 60% with a second parry. To deal with the recharge, I respecced out of Combat Jump and Super Jump to get Hasten and Super Speed, and I also dropped one of my dark mastery powers for stealth as long as I was getting speed. My hasten is within a hair of Perma. Which brings me to the point of this thread: CODF has no Set Bonuses. Using sets, I'd like to up my ranged and AoE defense to around 30 or 40, get just enough global recharge to get hasten to perma, and (this is the least important) help my endurance problems.

I refuse to drop the following powers:
I wont drop anything in the BS set, except for Taunt.
    Deflection
    battle agility
    Active defense
    True grit
    against all odds
    Shield Charge
One With The Shield (I will considor dropping it if I get enough defense. after all, its a resist boost, and what good is that if nothing gets past the defense?)
    Hasten
    Super Speed
    Hurdle
    Health
    Stamina

I would prefer to keep the following powers, but will drop if needed:
    Stealth
    Petrifying Gaze
    Torrent
    Dark Blast

I don't need an exact build (not saying ya cant post one, just dont feel ya need to), but I would appreciate some tips on good sets to use, powers I should pick, and how I should slot. Thanks to anyone who helps!

Ok, so they upgraded prices and minor stuff, but that is not at all what I'd call a major update.
  24. Ok, I have a major issue with the devs. Every update, issues 1-17, they have updated powersets, made new sets, made new missions, arcs, TF/SFs, updated AE, and a whole load of other stuff. can someone please tell me the last time the supergroup base editor had a major upgrade? I have quite a few suggestions for it:

We should be able to raise/lower the floors more freely. Just raising an entire grid square up and down to 3 different heights isn't enough. Also, I want to make more narrow passage ways and halls, such as tunnels like in the cave maps. Not just the massive wide doorways. And multi-floor bases would be awesome too.

I want to hire Staff for my base. I should be able to place NPCs that perform different tasks in my base (Some could be trainers, inspire stores, tailors, Merit Vendors, Field Analysts, etc, While some can be gaurds that will fight in raids, and some will just be there so the base doesnt seem so empty!). Then design their name and costume (and powers for gaurds. More powers means More prestige to hire them) like Im designing a custom critter for AE. Lastly, should be able to choose from having them stay in one spot performing one emote (good for sitting on chairs and interacting with environment), having them wander, or having them walk along a path that I can assign like they're on patrol.

I want to be able to place objects like boomboxes and stereo systems that can make sounds (that I choose). The closer I get to the item, louder the sound is, simple as that.

I want to place water effects like pools, waterfalls, rivers, etc.

We need more decoration! look around all the mission maps. In one casino map alone, I saw Tiki masks, slot machines, beer taps, bottles and cans, Security cameras, bar stools, and too many others to list. The meshes and items are already there, you just have to let us use those files and meshes in the base editor. Not like it'd be making a whole bunch of new content.

This is a big one I want: I want to be able to access AE from my base. I should be able to place AE terminals to make/choose missions to play, AE portals to enter the missions, and an AE beacon that lets us use our Com Link Accolade Powers in the base. Also, AE ticket vendors and AE instructors are additional NPCs that could be placed in here.

Exteriors! I should be able to place windows that let us look out into various places (shadow shard windows, Atlas Park windows, Mercy Island windows, etc). then we should be able to place doors that link to a new exterior zone to our base. We should be able to choose from A Winter, summer, fall, spring exterior, as well as Shadow Shard and Pocket D exterior choices. I dont expect this to happen, it'd be pretty complex. just an idea.

lastly, one simple, majorly helpful expansion: I want TP beacons to Shadow Shard zones and Cim.

Well, those are all my ideas. Let me know what you think, and post some of your own ideas!
  25. Well, too lazy to edit the original post. We now have all TP beacons, and are currently building a VIP type room. In all honesty, this is as big as I expect the group's base to ever become.
