I made an elec/elec blaster on Virtue named Lady Faraday, some time in 2004. I deleted her when I ran out of slots for new characters.

Years later when it became possible to purchase more slots, I did so and attempted to remake Lady Faraday. I was pretty sure that the name would have been taken by someone else by then. But to my surprise, it was free! So Lady Faraday came back to Virtue.

I had another character named Mystic Blade, also on Virtue. I transferred her to another server and pretty much parked her at level 33. A few days later, I noticed some new hero floating around Virtue, named Mystic Blade. I kept seeing her off and on for quite some time. I thought it was kind of amusing.

Did you camp my names? 'Cause I never made a single character on Exalted.

I named my Mind/Psi dominator Endora Idrelle, after a similar character I made in Neverwinter Nights. As a magic origin character, I was just a little bit afraid she might get generic'd. But... that never happened. Yay!
  4. How do you install the beta client again? I haven't had to do that since I was on the CoV beta.
  5. Hacking? Seriously?

What that other guy said about buying up controlling stock in NCSoft is a better idea. No wait, getting all the stock and then making the company private again is even better than that! Move their entire operations from Korea to the U.S. and cancel all of their other projects and turn them into a CoH machine forever.

    Success! That is living well.

My first character was an elec/dev blaster on Virtue named Electric Fairy.

Some time in late 2004, I went on every server and made Electric Fairy there, just so I could hold onto the name on every server. On two servers, someone had already beaten me to it!

Even today, there's a couple of servers where Electric Fairy is still level 1 and in Outbreak.

Back before the game went F2P, I was paying for my friend's subscription because he could not afford it himself. I continued to do so even after he lost interest in the game. I did that only so I could use all of his characters as mules for chump bids on Alchemical Silver. Then I realized that was a bit excessive and I cancelled his sub on my card. But I didn't cancel any of the bids before I did that.

When his account became Premium, I logged back into it and stripped the influence from all the characters I could log into and mailed them to my own account. I was gonna give it back later, I swear! I also used them as mules for chump bids on level 50 recharge IOs.

So... you proved to yourself that you're just like them?
  10. It's obvious that we have to collect up all the money in the world and then buy NCSoft for ourselves, so we can dismantle it and then make CoH run forever! Muhahaha...

I should probably note that I have almost two gigs worth of plugins and mods for this game. There's still a very active modding community for it!

Thank you! Look at the not-scaled down screenshot if you want. There's a Burger King on the campus that doubles as a study hall.

Someone once noted they liked the idea of hanging out in a university subway station. Part of why I put subway stops there. Haha.

Alas, wish I could get my old copy of Sim City 2000 working on my current machine... don't get me wrong, Sim City 4 is good and all, but 2000 was better IMO.
I had Sim City 2000 on my Amiga but it didn't hook me in as much SC4 did. Between those two, I played the heck out of SC3k.

I found the music for Sim City 3000 Unlimited in mp3 format and I put those in the same folder for the music that plays in mayor mode for SC4. It all plays. Yay!

I also put in that rock song from the first Sims game. "Yay Yah Yo!" EDIT: This song!
  17. You know I wouldn't mind a Sim City of Heroes. Haha.

One of the surviving eight could adopt my city and be its sworn protector!

I get too depressed when I log in there, now. I can't deal with feeling so sad about CoH being shuttered. I need more positive things in my life. So... yeah. My fantasy metropolis needs to be completed!
  19. This was my obsession in 2004, up until the point where I got introduced to City of Heroes. Now I find myself going back there.

This is more insidious than my inflating apparent demand of either Alchemical Silver or level 50 Recharge Reduction IOs!

Proof that large corporations stifle creativity or diversity. I believe EA's CEO when he swears his company is not evil. To call it that means they're making a conscious, moral choice. Companies that big can not operate any other way. Any that have tried have likely floundered and failed (and then gotten gobbled up by other big companies).

More to the point is that entire concept of large corporations is what is evil. Someone thought that up and someone else thought it was a good idea. With enough money and power, it became a reality. This is just yet another example of the kind of life that's made for us. It doesn't matter if only you like something. Everyone else must also like it, or else it is very likely to disappear.

I make it sound like we live in some bleak dystopia, don't I? Haha. Thank the gods for indie and freeware games. When the entire game industry collapses (again), they'll quite likely remain alive and well. I guess it is about time for another shake-up.
