  1. How do you define 'elitist'? If someone is mad because they couldn't find a name good enough for them, when I was able to find a name good enough for me, does that make it suddenly my fault that they refused to look beyond the most commonly used words?

Or maybe you're right. It's pretty common on this board for players to dismiss other players' complaints offhand, and quite often with a snide wit. Seriously, there's more to the Internet than what you see on Something Awful, folks!

Less esoteric than "Schrödinger's Catgirl," which on Virtue is taken!

    Not by me, though.

The third hero I ever made, back in 2004, was an elec/elec blaster on Virtue named "Lady Faraday". She was fun to play, but as I was running out of character slots and I already had another blaster, Lady Faraday had to go!

Fast forward a few years later, when we're finally able to buy or earn more slots. Well now I was free to make more blasters! I decided I wanted to try and make an elec/elec blaster again. Surely the name "Lady Faraday" would have been taken by then! Nope! It was still available after all that time! So I took it again. That made me very happy.

It's a task getting each to see the other point of view, and a further task to get either to the point where they could compete in their chosen fields fairly, let alone to the point where it would actually be challenging for both.
One person's fun is another person's misery.

I have some friends who absolutely loathe Real-Time-Strategy games, but love turned based strategy games. Simply because they want to think about each and every move they make, and they hate getting rushed.

$8/hr to play but loads of fun just the same.
Yeah I wasn't made of money back then so I had to make do with dialing into local BBSes. But I know some people who managed to rack up some rather huge monthly bills doing the online multiplayer thing, and not just on GEnie! Yikes.
  8. It sould still be worse. They could all be thugs/dark MMs with Snowbeasts!

There's no possibility for contagious confusion in there, is there?

I've got another puzzle for you!
    Oompa Loompa doompadah dee...
If you are wise you'll listen to me!

What do you get when you play games all day?
    Staying inside and wasting away?
Holed up all day like a vampire bat!
What do you think will come of that???
I don't like the look of it!

    Oompa Loompa doompety da...
If you're not greedy, you will go far!
You will live in happiness too...

  11. I'm reminded of an old magazine ad for GEnie (or was it Compuserve?) Pictured on the left was a microchip, with the caption: "This opponent is programmed to be challenging." On the right was a picture of, well, a rather insane looking invidual. His caption was "This one wants to rip your lungs out!"

I bet some other people would be willing to do that too. I'll bring in someone I don't have the badges on yet either, and we'll merrily go grab 'em. Maybe we can do some missions in the zone too, as those missions are short and great XP!
I'd like some of that action, myself!

When you add that to random idiots who you are actually forced to interact with instead of being able to avoid them as in PvE, it adds up to an experience which just isn't fun.

In short, the problem is that in PvP, ignoring the jerks doesn't work.
You know, when you put someone on your ignore list in the game, it should work that when in PvP, should they be there and try to attack you, none of their attacks should either interrupt you or do any damage. It would be as if you had the world's most powerful personal force field that only acted against them. The word 'ignored' should float up above your head for each attack they attempted.

Of course, to be far, they ought to be an invalid target then so you can't attack them!
  14. The lesson here is that rich people look like Mr. Peanut.
  15. So if some really really one-in-a-million type bug occurs and you actually get a level 53 set IO recipe or BB/WW TP inspiration, you'd best not tell anyone. Instead, make a beeline to the nearest BB/WW and put it up for 1 inf!
  16. I say that if you really want to get PvP IO's, you forgo the two billion influence bids, and talk some other players into joining you, so you can battle each other (edit: on a regular basis!). I think your chances of getting one would be a lot higher that way.
  17. I thought it was people not doing any PvP that was driving down the supply!

And this isn't so much a "price cap" as it is a limitation in the game. That is, I don't think it was intionally meant to put a ceiling on how high you could make a bid. The devs just never imagined way back in the day that anyone would ever be able to get that much inf!
  18. See if they'll follow you to Siren's Call...?

I flip numinas. It isn't fun, I never use them, just flip them for cash. Since I don't build billion-Inf characters, i never need these particular high demand recipes. It tastes bad but I do it for the Inf so i can buy Thunderstrikes and Crushing Impacts for my doezens of alts
Considering that I'm planning to outfit my WP/DB tank almost entirely in purple and PvP IO sets (she already has the Numina and Miracle sets), I'd better danged well be having fun with playing the market, or I'd be in for a hell of a time!
  22. I don't understand the tags on this thread.

Furries don't go faster than light.
  23. I bet if the two billion inf cap wasn't in place, you wouldn't be able to buy those IOs even with all the inf on your server.
