The difference between a hero and a terrorist is often the difference between the winner and the loser.

It's always easier to demonize your enemy. It strips them of their humanity, so you don't have to worry about hurting or killing them.

If God is on our side, who can be against us?
  2. You heard it here, folks! Golden Girl believes that the ends justify the means.

Or, "A villian by any other name is just as evil."

I would have also taken, "evil sometimes takes on a pleasing shape."
  3. It's fun watching a moral relativist argue with a moral absolutist.

Kind of like a North and South going Zax.

(but for the record, I'm a relativist!)
  4. When I first started playing this game, I didn't realize you could have more than one type of enhancement in a power. I thought you could only have one damage, one accuary, one end-reduction, etc. I didn't realize it until later, when I saw someone else playing the game, and they had their powers six-slotted for damage (this was before ED).

Also in my first month of playing, I didn't know there were any other enhancements than TO's. I felt accomplished when I was finally able to get enough inf together to fill all the slots I had (I think I was at level 18 or something of my first hero Electric Fairy), and I started boasting to my friends. "What's that? What are DO's? D'OH!!!"

Those kind of people are called "artists". Martin Luther King, jr. is a good example. So is Andy Kaufman.

Dude, I already pointed it out! He's a Pesci. He's already decided that he'll take anything you say in the worst way possible just as an excuse to get mad at you. Some people are just like that. Nothing you can do about it except make fun of them from very far away like you're doing right now.

(edit) I mean... if you're gonna hate me, at least have the decency to hate me for some important issue! I've made such posts on this board even (and not all of those are nuked threads, I think!). But to hate me over such a trite and silly little thing... well, I guess kids will be kids!

(edit) So... yeah! You sure showed me. I sure learned my lesson now, mister whoever-you-are-who-is-probably-the-guy-who-complained-originally. Who needs to grow up now? /em rolls_eyes

Keep on nerd-raging, 'cause this is such serious business. Anyways, I don't even know why anyone would even care that much! Getting them at level 20 is fine! If you're gonna get your knickers in a twist over it, I humbly suggest that you might not have very much to actually get really worried about.

Man, don't you remember the incessant whining from blueside only players when i7 first came out? They were making it sound like issue seven had nothing for them, while villains were getting everything. In fact, I do remember several "you're kidding, right??" kind of replies to that, but they were kind of drowned out by all that complaining.

I wish the boards had posts from that far back so I could point to them!

Wow. Only three posts into the thread before a complaint was made.

You guys never fail to disappoint.

But they can't be total replacements for the tram.

How about, the bus stops only take you to adjoining zones and drop you off right at the exit from the zone you just left to the zone you've just entered?

EDIT: Unless you have a mission in that zone. Then they drop you off at the bus stop nearest to the mission door.

Maybe if you weren't such an attention wh... can you say that word on this board? Damned censor! Anyways, if you were actually just trying to say what's on your mind and not actually giving any care to those stupid red and green squares, then maybe (ironically enough), they wouldn't be fluctuating so wildly.

I got one red pip and I'm actually kinda amused by it. People don't like what I say, they don't have to listen! But when in the course of human history has anyone ever actually taken that advice? That little red square is just yet another reminder of how many people there are who just can't help being The Pesci.

What else would you want? A hero hopping into a 4-wheel drive Chevy pickup and driving it straight into the Hamidon?
  15. Helicopters.

Seriously, those heli-pads have been there since day one!

  17. Well if you're also using a router, you could set it to block doubleclick and fastclick, both incoming and outgoing.

Editing a HOSTS file is beyond average users' technical means. Plus, on Vista and Win 7, you can only do it by running your editor as Administrator, which makes it even harder to explain to lay user.
Yeah. It's too bad Microsoft has gotten users to be lazy about that sort of thing. A Unix user quickly learns that they should make a separate user account that's apart from the super user account. Besides everything else, it gets you into the habit of separating out your personal stuff from the things the operating system needs to use.

Up north they say stuff like "youse guys". This is what happens when a language fails to have a plural for "you" that isn't the same exact word!

But I'm in Los Angeles. I've heard "y'all," "you guys," "you dudes," and "alla you." So... yeah.
  22. What about pointing fastclick and doubleclick to 127.0.0.1 in your HOSTS file?

Hey, there's an idea. They could have the Summer Lord. He spawns those fire imps or whatever.

And maybe sometime during the Spring or Fall, you can get events where the Summer Lord is duking it out with the Winter Lord. It'll be like Heat Miser vs. Snow Miser. Totally awesome.

My games should be fairly fast moving with not a lot of strategy required. CoX in its current incarnation fits me fine.
That might be what you meant, but the way you decided to put, that's not what you ended up saying.

I mean I know you might prefer to think that I'm just being obtuse. That makes it easy to dismiss your opponent's arguments without even actually rebutting them. That sort of thing happens in congress all the time! But if you can't say what you mean, how on earth can you ever mean what you say?

Anyways, did it ever occur to you that maybe the devs could keep the old AI and introduce a smarter NPC AI at the same time? For instanced missions at least. Then you could set your difficulty level to select whether you'd prefer rooms full of dumb foes that are easier to defeat, or rooms with only a few foes that are almost as smart at playing as a rival player.

Heck, that way you could even have certain areas within a zone where the NPC foes are of the super-intelligent kind. Or even better, put those kinds of NPCs in PvP zones.
  25. Why are you putting "challenge" in quotes each and every time you use the word?

You should just come out and say that you don't think the challenge presented by a more intelligent AI is really much of a challenge at all.

Which, given the argument you just presented, doesn't make any sense at all...

You keep using quotation marks. I do not think it means what you think it means!
