  1. Well, I guess I'll throw my creations in the mix. These are costumes for a AE storyarc that I've been working on for a few months. Without giving the story away, these costumes fit a new "persona" for each of the Phalanx.

Note: I'm not a fan of over the top "hokeyness" when it comes to my characters or costumes. I like a more "real & gritty" feel, kind of like if it was something that could be seen in real life. While they may look nothing like the canon characters we have all come to know, I feel that these best portray a new, or realistic, Freedom Phalanx.

    BACK ALLEY BRAWLER

    MANTICORE

    POSITRON

    SISTER PSYCHE

    STATESMAN

    SYNAPSE

That's all I've been able to make for the storyarc with my limited time. But I have rough drafts for the rest.... just need them to increase the file size for the AE arcs :P
  2. I will most likely be attending in one way or another, since I live in Mass.

Interesting note: Shutter Island filmed 5 minutes from where I live
  3. Going Rogue will feature "Doppelgangers" according to the Going Rogue info released recently.

And actually, Praetoria isn't a mirrored universe to ours. Things will be opposite, but not a direct mirrored image. Some heroes and villains are either non-existant, dead, or possible even good or evil like their Primal Earth counterparts.
  4. Question: Don't all MMO's lower requirements for rare things when the rare things become "less rare?" Especially when new rare things are about to be introduced?
  5. Well, I was thinking about this as well. The only thing my mind could come up with was...

A new series of Ultra Epic AT's?

I mean, if the things we worked so hard to get at level 50 are now going to be available at level 20, there must be something to replace Epic AT's. Maybe something for getting an Epic to 50 to unlock bonus AT's?

Whatever happens, I know we won't get left out in the cold for all the work we put into playing for so many years.
  6. When the Korean version of the game was still running, I downloaded all, I think, of their City of Hero™ screensavers. I have them on my PC, so I'll have to check once I hook it back up.

Pretty cool screensavers too. I used to use the "clock" screensaver that just had the City of Hero logo on black with a clock that used the CoH font above it.
  7. Or it could be the fix for the problem where no missions will load on test.

Why do you still Dual Box to get past the first 20 levels of a character, to get over there endurance hump, when theres speed runs that can allow you to Solo and hit level 20 in a shorter time frame?
Since the first question has been voided:

Dual boxing isn't always about power leveling. Sure, I'm sure a majority of players do, but it's not always about getting to 50 the fastest.

Scenario 1: You're not really someone that likes to PUG, seeing as sometimes it can take up to an hour (depending on time of day and server) to get a full team to run mission arcs. You have a storyarc that deals with fighting an Elite Boss or Archvillain, even when solo (like many of the level 40+ villainside arcs.) It's much easier to log into a second account and play both to kill the boss, rather than hope to find a team to help.

Scenario 2: You're about to run a task force, or strike force, and there isn't enough people to fill the TF/SF requirements. (LRSF, STF) You dual box to fill the spots. Even better, you can actually play the second account at the same time as your first.

Scenario 3: Killing two birds with one stone. There are many missions that offer badges upon completion, that the badges unlock content and even non-xp rewards. I have over 60 alts that I regularly play, but the idea of running the same mission over and over and over just to unlock a zone or costume can be too time consuming. (ie, Cimemora) Dual boxing these mission often reward all players the same extra content bonuses.

So when my sons aren't playing I can fire up their account and wreak havok with an unstoppable [dps AT] backed by my own personal [buff/heal AT]. Very handy.
Actually, I believe this is considered "botting," which is against the EULA. Many accounts have been banned by NCsoft for doing such things. Heck, I know people that have had suspensions for using the G15 keyboards to set up auto-binds for alts that followed them around on maps.

Back to the topic, I dual box (sometimes triple box) because it gives me freedom to do more than is expected of me. I've dual boxed tanks for tauntiing and aggro during Hami Raids. I've dualboxed healers and buffers for SF/TF's because we were low on teams... there are many reasons to dual box.

If you do come across a dual boxer in normal missions, and they're bad, you've most likely found a player looking for eaxy XP to level up an alt on a second account.

Just two nights ago I was on a team where we got the "Master of the Imperious Task Force" badge and there was someone dual boxing because we didn't have enough players. Not all dual boxers are bad. In fact, I don't know one person who is bad at it.
  10. Sorry, haven't been using the forums much since the video card issues.

    To answer some questions:

The manufacturers were PNY, eVGA, and BFG, ranging from the 7-9 series.

I always had a feeling it had to do with the power supply, being under powered and all. I've got another power supply, and have swapped them out before, but it just seems that there's no way to catch up with the every evolving technology. I could swap the PSU and get a good video card, but the system just doesn't seem to hold up to anything coming out.

For now, I'm going to replace the video card with a cheaper version of the 9400 GT, with just a heatsink. That PC will just be used to minimul things while my laptop will take over as my main computer... till I get a new PC. This Gateway was something I bought as a last minute replacement to my other PC that died a few years back, but just kept adding onto it rather than save up for a new PC.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice.
  11. What I learned from Super Mario Bros. 2 (US Edition):

There is ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS, a way to bypass the level by going under the map to get to the location you want.
  12. I've had my PC (Gateway 838GM) for about 3 years now. However, I'm about to replace the video card with number 8.

Now, all other PC's I've had never had this many problems with the video card. Then again, my other PC's had ATI cards.

Does nVidia have a reputation of having horrible fans? Or, do you think that my PC is 'causing' the fans on my video cards to die?

The last 2 video cards were nVidia GeForce 9400 GT's. I bought two of the same last year. The first of the two died in June. The second of the two died just now.

    Any thoughts?
  13. Wow. You're upset that Aion has double XP this weekend. Well, I wonder how upset you'll be knowing that this is the 4th double XP weekend since December, and that they plan on doing 1-2 double XP weekends a month.

    :P
  14. Case #1:
Last night I decide to watch some late night TV. I'm not much of a TV watcher but the Conan/NBC War has me hooked. After Conan, I switched to some local channel and left it there (because I like to have some other audio in the background when I'm playing CoH.)

As I am playing villainside, suddenly my head goes numb as I'm trying to figure out what the heck is happening. I'm in Port Oakes, heading toward Marconeville, when I hear the music for Blyde Square (heroside) popup. Immediately I think that there is some sort of invasion. Then I realize it's heroside music, so I start to think that there was some error in the game files. Then I realize my ingame music volume is off.

I look at the TV and I hear, "Call now for Rhode Island's hottest singles line..."

I knew that some music was licensed from a production company, but the Blyde Square theme threw me for a loop.

    Case #2:
A couple of hours later, I'm still playing, but half asleep. A commercial for a "male enhancement" plays. The woman asks, "Do you need help enhancing your stamina?"

I immediately respond with, while half asleep, "Nope. I've got a full set of Performance Shifter's slotted. I'm set."

When I heard myself say that, I knew it was time to call it a night.
  15. About 3 months ago I broke a leveling pact with an alt that leveled to 10. The other alt was still inside the Breakout tutorial zone.

The alt that broke the pact is currently level 35. The alt, that just left the tutorial trained up to level 10. But, as I am playing the level 10, he is still getting XP divided for a non-existant leveling pact. The level 35, that broke the pact, has not received any of the XP that was divided from the level 10 that is still getting XP divided.

In the Leveling Pact window it shows that there is no other alt pacted. Obviously the XP is going somewhere (or nowhere.)

Just wondering if this is a known issue.
  16. Well, that worked, for the most part...

Now I have System Chat in German and English
  17. So, I was playing on Union earlier. I decided to transfer an alt to the German server. Used the gender change feature from the Science Booster and when I came out of the tailor, all the UI text changed to German.

Now, no matter what, everything is German. Even changing the language to English, on the EU Updater still does not change the UI and game text back to English.

I tried to do the reverse with the gender change, and the UI is still German.

    What am I missing here?
  18. Wasn't there a deal struck, last year, with a voice chat company and NCsoft? I could have sworn that there was an article that implied that NCsoft products would be getting their own VoIP communication built into the games?
  19. I've run out of free server transfer tokens, over a week ago. What days are the six free transfers awarded?

Also, I can not pay to transfer alts since the free transfer tokens have been used up. There is no purchase transfer button, only a (0) tokens remain and all buttons greyed out.

Anyone else having this issue, or is it just me?

  21. You should have seen the poster that was used before Recluse went back in time, via Ouroboros, and threatened the Japanese Prime Minister to come up with a new flag.

As do you, Spartan. Thank you for your insight. Maybe you could have shared it before the event, since you knew that Virtue would be a problem. That way this whole mess could have been avoided.

So it is. People are too competitive and too stupid to realize that they need to take these things in stride and its nto the end of the world if you don't win.

I've never one a costume contest, Heck I rarely win anything. I entered for the fun of it and if I win, then cool, otherwise Oh well.

They try their best to do something like this, with what looks liek a lot of new people inolved int he planning etc, and yeah things will not always seem to be the best. But they work their butts off just like anyone who tries to do things.

    Cut em a break.
It's not about winning or losing. It's about organization. It's about being able to see 5 steps ahead. Yes, they do take the time to "step up" and run events, but each year the same things happen.

It's called learning from your mistakes. That's something PERC has a hard time doing.
