  1. That......just......that is.......my gods, that is too cool!
  2. I reeeallllly wanted to recommend Khan's monologue from Star Trek 2 "he tasks me....." but sadly it's way too short, as is the "line must be drawn here" bit from First Contact

But, I am reminded of a few.....

First up is this from the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy

    Quote:
The Book: The Babel fish is small, yellow, leechlike, and probably the oddest thing in the Universe. It feeds on brainwave energy received not from its own carrier but from those around it. It absorbs all unconscious mental frequencies from this brainwave energy to nourish itself with. It then excretes into the mind of its carrier a telepathic matrix formed by combining the conscious thought frequencies with nerve signals picked up from the speech centers of the brain which has supplied them. The practical upshot of all this is that if you stick a Babel fish in your ear you can instantly understand anything said to you in any form of language. The speech patterns you actually hear decode the brainwave matrix which has been fed into your mind by your Babel fish.
Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the NON-existence of God.
    The argument goes like this:
`I refuse to prove that I exist,' says God, `for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.'
`But,' says Man, `The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED.'
`Oh dear,' says God, `I hadn't thought of that,' and promptly disappears in a puff of logic.
`Oh, that was easy,' says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.
Most leading theologians claim that this argument is a load of dingo's kidneys, but that didn't stop Oolon Colluphid making a small fortune when he used it as the central theme of his best-selling book, "Well, That about Wraps It Up for God."
Meanwhile, the poor Babel fish, by effectively removing all barriers to communication between different races and cultures, has caused more and bloodier wars than anything else in the history of creation.
    Better still.......this

    World made of cardboard

Or for sheer comedy value, there's always this one
  3. I agree with Zikar, the Witches are pretty much my favourite characters in the Discworld series. They're easily the most.....real of characters in that everyone knows an old woman like them

But, then, that's the beauty of the Discworld books, something for everyone

Ooooh, I'm on the borderline of disagreeing here

I can see what you mean, his later books are far superior and he really got into his writing style after a few books, but there is a definite character progression if you read the books in publication order, especially for the likes of Rincewind and Granny Weatherwax.

Besides, it's not like the first couple of books are bad, they're just not as good as the later books, makes more sense to start that way and let it improve, bit like being fed sirloin steak for years then being suddenly given burgers instead
  5. Btw, anyone know when The Cape is due to start showing?
  6. There is sooo much I'm waiting for

    Chuck
    Glee
    How I Met Your Mother
    Smallville
    Modern Family
    Castle
    Two and a half men
    Bones
    Sh#t My Dad Says
    No Ordinary Family

    and best of all

    BIG BANG THEORY IS BACK!!

Rosie is also looking forward to Supernatural and Criminal Minds

Sooooo much TV, so little time on an evening!

Also, new Sarah Jane Adventures for us in the UK soon

  8. Truman Show.....so many concepts in that movie to talk about
  9. Gotta love living in the UK sometimes

Got it. Read it. Loved it.

Pratchett is possibly the greatest author of all time, there's not a single one of his books I've not enjoyed

I'm trying to become an author as well....if I could be a fraction as talented and successful as he is, I'll die a happy (and possibly rich) man

    Altogether now.....CRIVENS!!!

Tell me about it, took me 3 attempts to get my entry in

You might want to try saying that to the guys at Pixar, you know, given that they pretty much ARE Disney now
  12. Not to mention the date being innacurate as he first appeared in the Donkey Kong arcade game back in 1981

Still, alongside Sonic the Hedgehog and, arguably, characters such as the Street Fighter gang, Lara Croft, Snake and more, he truly is the icon of gaming

The stupid thing is, my artwork was done!! I was just waiting on a method to pay him the rest of the money so I could get my hard copy!

All I've got a is a jpg that cost me a hundred bucks and is too small to print out at a decent size. I'd happily pay him the rest of the money if I got my hard copy, I'd forgo the free chibi I was supposed to be getting that was part of the sign up offer, not to mention the extra freebie he promised me as recompense for taking so long.

I just want the picture on my wall

Heh, don't worry, Rogues Radio are the Rebels of the Airwaves, so we love all disciplines to listen in

And DJ Torm will be back next week at the same time, 1am UK time, 8pm EST......I have no idea what other time zones that is though, if anyone can educate me, it would be very useful
  15. I adore Steam! In fact, I have to stop myself from turning it on as I all too often end up buying a game on the offers as they are so damn cheap! The recent Summer Sale hit me hard

It's very easy to use, very unobtrusive and so easy to use for gifting games to people that we're actually thinking of using it for prizes on Rogues Radio instead of having to buy hard copies in the shops. With Steam I can just send them a game with no delivery charge and know they will always have access to it.

I've been using Steam for years and my original copy of Half Life 1, bought in the very early days of Steam is still there on the list for me to download and play if I want it.

    Plus.....Portal....nuff said

I have Mass Effect 1, if someone can tell me what to look for in regards to SecuRom, let me know and I'll see if I can find out if it's installed on my PC, but I don't recall seeing anything. I'm guessing SecuRom is bad?

    Heroes 911

I was at work at the time with no easy access to TV or Radio, this was before we had internet access at work as well, so we heard about it from customers and passing people.

Luckily the store next door to us had TV's on display in the window and changed channels and turned the sound up so people could see and hear it.

I remember just being stunned wondering what had happened when the second plane hit and realised it was planned.

Honestly, I can't think of many times in my life I've been as shocked.

Sadly, these inhuman monsters hit the UK not long afterwards. Makes you hope that Karma really does exist.
  17. Hey all!

For those who don't know us, Rogues Radio is a primarily EU based radio station that has been around for a while now. I say primarily as we now have a new trial DJ starting tonight who is from the other side of the pond!

So, tune in at 1am UK time, 8pm EST to hear DJ Torms's first trial set!

Hopefully this will be the first of many DJ's from differing countries as we aim for global domination of the worl.......erm, to reach out to all nations under the banner of fine music!
  18. Hey all!

Rogues Radio is now going intercontinental with a new trial DJ from over the pond!

Tune in to DJ Torm at 1am UK Time, 8pm EST!

Wow, feels weird typing multiple timezones!

Not sure why I keep checking it periodically, probably my vain hopes, but the site is now saying it will not be coming back and if people want their deposits back, send Jamaro a mail.....good luck with that!

I'd still be happy to pay the other half of mine if I could only get my hard copy print
  20. Ooh, will have to check what time I'm at work that day, see if I can get home in time

    I always cries at weddings

Seriously, the guy is a bloody genius when it comes to doing these artworks. There was a 10 part tv series called Concrete Canvas showing him going to different cities around the world and how he did them chalk drawings, very impressive stuff.

I dunno if it's been shown anywhere else, but you can get hold of them on You Tube easy enough
  22. Not sure if Julian Beever will be too impressed with this idea......
  23. I'm more concerned that someone might not realise fast enough, slam on the brakes and cause an accident that way.

Not sure this is a wonderfully intelligent idea, will be interested in seeing results from the trial though.
  24. Breaking News!!

Rogues Radio is pleased to announce our first special Guest DJ is none other than......Riff!!

yes, everyone's favorite marketing-baiter will be doing a special one-off show on Rogues Radio, Tuesday night at 11pm, right after Rosie let him out of her Boudoir

Stay tuned for more announcement about guest DJ's in the future!
