  1. So, I was right then, it's all to do with the 2013 50th anniversary

From the info I'm reading, it's looking like Season 7 will be 14 episodes, but spread over 2012 and 2013, probably 7 in each year with an Xmas special in the middle, leading us up to the anniversary run in 2013.

Whilst I don't like the idea that there will be a large gap for our favourite Timelord, I'm stoked about a big anniversary thing coming as well
  2. Latest rumours I heard was to rearrange the dates of showing to clash with the upcoming 50th anniversary in 2013, that would be November 23rd, so an early year showing would not work, hence the shift in how it's being shown?
  3. Thanks for the tips all

Should have mentioned I've seen all the Scrubs already!

Gonna check out some of these though, Parks and Recreations looks interesting, just about to start on the US Office
  4. Other possibilities being speculated about include Pratchett writing for other shows, such as Sherlock, or possibly Moffat to write, produce or direct the Good Omens script?

Any combination of them could only be awesome though

Further more, our people are not talking to @steven_moffat people, okay?? Seriously.
and 6 hours before he tweeted this...

Damn, if this is just playing with my head, I'll be soooo disappointed!!

But how amazing would a Pratchett written Xmas ep of Doctor Who be??
  7. On Terry Pratchett's twitter feed, he just tweeted this....

No! No! We absolutely 100% did not meet @steven_moffat today. But now we've denied it...
Not entirely certain if this means anything at all or is just pure speculation on my part, but given that Pterry worked with Neil Gaiman on Good Omens and Gaiman wrote a Doctor Who ep.......I think a large Squee is in order!!
  8. Hey all

I made a thread a long time ago asking for suggestions on what great and recent TV Comedy shows to watch from the US and try as I might, I can't find the darn thing, so I thought I'd start a new one

I've watched several shows already from start to finish, including

    Friends
    Big Bang Theory
    How I Met Your Mother
    Two and a Half Men
    Frasier
    Modern Family

And thanks to the previous thread I can now add to that list

30 Rock (took a few eps for me to get the hang of, but now I love Tina Fey!)
Community (Oh dear lords, thank you to whoever it was who told me to watch this!! )

Now I need more suggestions. I especially love shows with pop-culture references, as well as intelligent comedy, as opposed to fart/vomit jokes, so would really love the help. I'm a MASSIVE fan of the original UK version of the Office, so was put of by the idea of a US remake, but it seems to be getting favourable comments elsewhere, so would that be worth me trying out?

Feel free to post anything I may have missed
  9. Am I the only person who's actually looking froward to this?

The history of the DC Universe characters has got soooooooo muddled over the years, it will be nice to have a more clear, concise and consistent universe to read, let the writers get on with actually writing good storylines again rather than trying to readjust every time something doesn't fit.

Poor Hawkman, how many versions of him have we seen now?
  10. On the question as to the voice during the beginning of the ep with the flesh-doc getting used to the regenerations, Confidential confirmed it was the Tom Baker voice (they even showed the clip they took it from) and that it was quotations of the first and third docs (discussions about how Jon Pertwee only used the reversing the polarity bit once and was often quoted by the fandom for years afterwards), but absolutely no mention of David Tennants voice being used, so I'm inclined to think it wasn't his voice, just matt Smith sounding like him

Really? I listened to it several times, sound just like Matt Smith to me, the only one that seemed to change was the Tom Baker line, I thought?
  12. Awesome ep!

I think we can now add, alongside wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey as an explanation, we can add wibbly-wobbly-fleshy-weshy!
  13. Oh. My. Gods.

    That's all kinds of awesomesauce
  14. LOL, awesomely done

Was sat thinking "what the hell, lame, who would want to watch this romantic drivel??" and then came the pay off!

    Briliant
  15. Heh, I remember not reading the info about powers properly, getting very excited when I reached the right lvl for Flight, only for it not to be able to be chosen yet.

When I asked in the supergroup channel, Psygon pointed out I was only lvl 12......

    I nearly cried
  16. I doubt it was a Ganger version that got shot in ep 1.....he did start regenerating after all, I doubt a ganger would be able to do that.

Still, anything is possible I guess
  17. As always, SPOILER ALERT SO BE WARNED!!!!!

Anyway, interesting episode, not sure if we need another Dual Doctor episode again though?

Very true, but I think given that Amazon are one of the biggest booksellers going, it's very indicative of which way the trend is going. Admittedly, Amazon are online, so it will be more likely for them to be selling e-books more as it's a downloadable format, bricks and mortar shops are less likely, but even my local Waterstones has an increasing e-book reader display all the time.

Sadly, it's likely to lead to the closure of more high street retail outlets
  19. Wow, some extremely passionate views on here!

Have to say Dark One, you're making some extremely arrogant presumptions about what people should and shouldn't be doing on their vacations, half of which have nothing to do with the subject at hand. Fair play, you might like to not take electronic gadgets away with you, but some people do, they find it relaxing and isn't that the point of a vacation after all?

Either way, I think the argument about books vs e-books is somewhat moot, given that they are being outsold now. My biggest surprise came from how fast it happened. Was expecting books to put up more of a fight, tbh!

Also, some good points about backing up your e-books, never thought of uploading them my webspace, will do that later, make sure I don't lose them all
  20. Tbh, I agree, I love paper books, the textures, the smell, the feel, having a physical thing in your hand to read, it's all kinds of awesome, but for sheer convenience, especially with the advent of things like the iPad and other colour tablets, e-books are soooooo good!

Also, there's a LOT of classic stuff out there that's open source. I got the complete works of Shakespeare from a website, all for free. Having them on my phone in a tiny tiny little file, it's all kinds of awesome!

This I agree with. Why any company thinks they can charge the same for a computer file is beyond me.
  22. Apparently, it's happening now....

Can't say I'm overly shocked. I've barely bought any paper books for years, barring those that don't come out in an e-book format, like Harry Potter etc.

E-books of all formats are so much easier to use, more portable, have so many advantages over traditional ones.

    Sad, but true
  23. Clearly no Brit's joining in with this conversation, as everyone knows the correct weapons are the Cricket Bat and Old 80's Vinyl Albums for long distance throwing.*

  24. On a separate part to this......gratz man!!

Always nice to see something good happening to a thoroughly nice bloke
