  1. Shameful. Absolutely shameful.
  2. Check the 'CoV Primer' linked in my signature below, where much of what we know about how CoV will work has been collected.

    Let me get this straight...

You cut a deal with the retailers ... and allow each of them to have a specific "add-on" for pre-orders, which was
    A) Gender Specific
    and...
    B) Not even all that cool?

    [/ QUOTE ]
These 'exclusive' in-game items have to ride a fine line. They shoudn't be too cool and they definitely shouldn't provide a decisive character development advantage. Otherwise, you have non-pre-order subscribers down the line squealing bloody murder. (I'm not sure why. Seems like a fair trade and a valid opportunity cost, but human nature, eh?)

Admittedly, the choice of going with exclusive headgear seems odd to me, too. Eh. Just ignore that feature and buy the darn game if you want to play!
  4. NO.

One, you shouldn't be paying $50 bucks for a pre-order. The retailer should be dinging you for $5-10 up front for the pre-order package which goes toward the final price of $50 which should only be paid in full when they ship the retail box to you.

Two, you don't understand that by pre-ordering, you're getting 2 boxes. The pre-order box with the pre-order disk and pre-order serial will come first and soon. The retail box will not be shipped to you or be available for pick-up until Launch Day. Inside that retail box will be the game manual, installation discs (which you won't need because you'll already have the game installed by then), other fluff, and most importantly... the retail serial required to activate your account as of the morning of Launch Day.

So [censored] [censored] you for not asking for clarification before shooting your mouth off!!

I said [censored] [censored] you, sir!

    j/k

My question is what are these helmets made out of, do they look decent in real life or like plastic knock off made in china?

    [/ QUOTE ]
They look like pixels because they're just in-game costume item choices.

    Villainy on the Horizon...

The City of Villains Closed Beta Test is targeted to begin in the August 2005 time frame. It is important to note that this is subject to change, so please return here periodically for the latest information as it becomes available.

First priority into the Closed Beta will be offered to long-time, currently active City of Heroes subscribers as part of a program designed to reward their continued support. You can go <insert link to October '04 beta press release on the PlayNC site> for more program-related specifics. Please note that past participation in the City of Heroes Beta Test has no bearing on this program.

Current subscribers can also win Closed Beta slots through City of Heroes contests and email promotions. You should keep your eyes peeled for such opportunities on the Official City of Heroes web site, in your email box, and on this web site.

You can also obtain a spot in the Closed Beta by pre-ordering City of Villains. All pre-order boxes contain a registration code for future access to the Closed Beta. The exact date of entry is still to be determined, but access will be granted after the long-time City of Heroes subscribers have been invited.

In the meantime, what can you do on your end to make sure that your beta invitation doesn't go astray? First, make absolutely sure that the email address listed on your PlayNC account is correct and valid. If we can't reach you, you'll miss out on your chance to participate! Click here to log into PlayNC and review your contact information. Also, because the invitations are auto-generated email messages, you'll need to double check that your spam blocker is either turned off or adjusted appropriately. (The invitations will be issued from support@plaync.com.) These simple steps can help to ensure your entrance into the Closed Beta, where all the villainous fun awaits.

  7. No. You should be fine. Now get back into CoH, hero!
  8. [ QUOTE ]
And the link that someone had posted for EBGames for the pre-order "collector's edition" was like $80. Is that right? WTH is with that price tag?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Because theres more stuff? Like every other Collector's Edition that has come out in the past year?

The extra stuff in the Collector's Edition will at least include 7 CoH/CoV HeroClix figurines. It's up to you to decide whether that is incentive to buy the Collector's Edition. It is not required.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
If/when I get my 1-year Beta Invite, will the Pre-Order still be effective (and if so will I have to put it in before or after my 1-year invite)?

    [/ QUOTE ]
From previous NCSoft beta experiences, I would say the 'loyalty' invite works as if you had bought an extra pre-order, but your beta activation code will come sooner than the pre-order.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Hmm - I cant tell which way some of those even fit lol. Maybe a few screenies with chars wearing them will come out before i have to buy.

    [/ QUOTE ]
All the helmets are positioned as if an avatar is facing you and looking at your right shoulder.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Okay everyone - I'm back with more info. You can check out pictures of all the helmets here!

    Have a great weekend!

    Quick work! Kudos to Alexa!

what i would like to know is, if we preorder instore will beta keys be sent to the stores for us to pick up or will beta keys only be given through the web sites of each store when purchased online at said store ?

    [/ QUOTE ]
If it goes like CoH beta or Auto Assault beta (which is HIGHLY likely ), it'll play out like this:<ul type="square">[*]You receive your pre-order box with bonus disk and pre-order registration serial number.[*]Enter the pre-order registration serial by clicking on 'Add Game' at your PlayNC Account Management page. That will put an additional game subscription line on your PlayNC account page below your CoH subscription line.[*]When it is time for the pre-orderers to join beta, you will be sent an email with your beta activation code and a link to download the game client. You will now be able to download the game files and participate actively in beta.[*]This account will remain active during the 'headstart' period, but deactivate on Launch Day until you enter the retail serial code inside the retail box.[*]Profit![/list]
Hope that clears things up for people new to the NCSoft pre-order process. Cheers!

The dev's have already stated that charging full price for both is not an option for them. They have said that it will be anywhere from $1-$5 extra.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Could you point me to that specific thread please? I've been looking for this specific information and cannot find it. I know that several devs have stated what they would LIKE to do, but I can't find any instances where it is stated what WILL be done.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The devs have also said that they WANT to release I5 in August, but they have not said they WILL release I5 in August. Smarta$$.
  14. I SAID I'm bored with quasi-dead horse threads. The Incredibles for the Oscar!
  15. It still hasn't been announced yet. Keep checking the 'Dev Digest' stickied thread in the 'Developer's Corner' section of the forum for futher updates.
  16. When is the Paragon Dance Party TF being implemented?

    No, really.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    A FEW??

Is that a snarky response itself? Or did you only read a few of our complaints that addressed your commentary as flippant, snide, or downright rude?

    [/ QUOTE ]
A few, a dozen, one hundred... Thankfully it wasn't all that many. Reading the forums sometimes makes me wonder if I'm playing City of Uncle Arthurs. With all due respect, sir, you are an 'Uncle Arthur'.
  18. Yeah! They're twisting Geko's arm to post again!

I could reiterate what I have already, but it'd be redundant and you already got ALOT of reading to do. I.E. a good 99% of us all are PISSED.

99%? I call shenanigans on you, sir.

Make your point - don't make up fairy tale statistics.

Clintonian is right. It is really only 98.763% that are pissed off.

I knew I was right! Wait...

    Too much shananigans.

  22. Frankly, many players are "crying" out for MORE snark. PR-speak is just more tea leaves to divine actual meaning from.

"...Rikti Crash Site is meant for groups [with] 5+ members - what were your other teammates doing?"
Nice. Tasteful and to the point. Wish I could use that level of restraint. More.

    People, my people...
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Here you go folks I went to someone who'd most likely know what I'm asking and got the awnseres I much better than wHat I got from here. So here it is

    And Statesman responded to me
    [ QUOTE ]
We haven't announced ANYTHING regarding the way accounts work - so anything you read is rumor only.

    [/ QUOTE ]
So just by statesman responding to its rumor only perhaps It will be how i'm hoping when COV comes out. Would be Nice.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It would be nice. I hope CoV costs zero extra because it will less of a hassle. If it costs only a dollar more to play CoH+CoV, then you are still likely to see separate lines for CoH and CoV on your PlayNC account page. I fail to see why it is such an unbearable bureaucratic burden to manage an extra line on the PlayNC page, but hey, maybe it's the straw on the camel's back for some people.

I would like to clarify something. On things like this, I preface early and often that something "may" be done a certain way, or that something is "likely" based on previous experience with this dev team and other games in general. I'd like to think that I deal in conjecture, rather than rumor-mongering. Conjecture isn't great, but in the face of "We haven't announced ANYTHING", it is something to chat about.

As far as the game client goes, maybe they'll put the effort into redoing the thing so you have the option to access either game from the same client. I will be pleasantly surprised if it happens.
