I've only seen one Dark toon in my two years of playing who took it in fact.

But that's just FYI, if it pleases you to phase shift foes, take it and have fun. Maybe it might make a good mule for an IO set or something too.

    "GRRR... THOSE DAMN DEVS!"

That seems to be silly-headed thinking to me, because they have given us a lot of unlockables for just about every other weapon set out there.

After that, look at the various reviewer threads and see what criteria they use (Some you have to play their arcs, others will only do humor, etc.) If your arc fits what they want to play, ask them to put it in their queue. Then wait.
What he said. I would emphasize the adding a title and description to your post over there. Tell us how many missions it has, are there any bosses or whatever, is it better for low or high levels... Might be a good idea to browse such threads, see how they did it, then post yours there.

And really, the more you can make it sound exciting, funny or whatever it is, the better.

The error checking and alert system (the orange messages up in the right hand corner) seem to be a bit buggy from time to time; I think sometimes cutting and pasting into them causes this. What this means is that there are too many characters in one of your speech screens.

You'll have to go through and click on each one and see if one comes up with too many letters in it (doubtful) or with some odd looking text error in it. I seem to recall they're all limited to 300 characters, so look for any that are 300/300; chances are your error lies in one of those.
  5. I recently had someone play one of my arcs who left me some feedback pointing out that there was an unadvertised EB in it. I sent him a response saying his difficulty must have been set high or something, but he wasn't online at the time. He responded back and I got it the next time I was on - no, it was definitely an EB and he had taken the time to look it up and named it. I went and checked, sure enough, I had accidentally added an EB to a group I had created out of a number of standard-set foes. So I removed it and thanked him twice for the effort he put into letting me know about it.

That was a good player and great feedback.

I've been half wondering if there's not some trick some of the RMT goldsellers have found for creating super-easy arcs of custom-mobs only, some trick that the devs have found via data mining that they don't wish to publicize, for obvious reasons.

Even Bots/Fluffy Kittens would be a kick-butt combo, anything Bots usually is. I have a Bots/Storm and a Bots/Dark and they both play out really really well. I don't have a Bots/Traps (yet?) but Traps is a pretty solid set on my Corr.

A better example of this, I think, would be David Lynch's Twin Peaks television series. Twin Peaks was the Winchester Mystery House of the television neighborhood. There were plots that seemed important one week, then went nowhere. A few quirky people is one thing, but the town was full of eccentrics with no explanation. What was up with the backward-speaking dancing dwarf? I stuck with the show through every episode and enjoyed it as something I thought of as unique, but it bore little resemblance to what we've come to expect as a typical TV show and that bothered a lot of people. Unless you only cared about the "Wow, I wonder what crazy thing will happen next," there was no pay day on your investment. It was self-indulgent craziness. (Which you could say about anything Lynch has done, really.) I liked it, but sometimes it was confusing or frustrating because it didn't delivery what's expected of most television shows. Expectation has a lot to do with this kind of thing. If I considered it "entertainment," and didn't expect it to be like other shows, it was and I enjoyed it. If I expected it to deliver something that made sense of it all, I was let down.
Not to derail the thread too much, but Twin Peaks ran off the rails because the network started dictating the direction it should go in; Lynch pretty much dropped it after that and it limped along and died a dog's death. There was really no fault with the material or execution until that happened. We all know how well that sort of artistic interference works out...

If I ran around the object a bit, eventually I could hit it but it was a really annoying problem. The object was on a flat surface with nothing impeding line of sight, so I have no idea what the problem is/was.

I'm constantly tweaking it so I might have another look at object types in the near future.

But no, you aren't the only one who has had this problem.
I've had that problem. I posted about it and someone already knew what it was without me even telling them all the details...

...an amazing feat of mental power I cannot demonstrate for you as I don't recall the details nor find my post on it. :P

For me it was Dev Earth mounds on an outdoor map. So anyways, it seems that you have to sort of agro these objects before you can fire at them. Weird bug. The devs know about it (I petitioned it and apparently others had already too) and are looking into it. To get around this I just made those things none necessary to complete the mish.

Really? I usually find this more on the part of the young generation, which why I think it's very interesting to place that sentence next to this one:

From my experience older audiences like that sort of thing because what the author usually did works but you have to spend a little time to parse it, rather than just having it handed to you on a platter of exposition.

Just my thoughts on that subject.

On this subject, mainly I would say that I enjoy such stories when they're well done. Something as lowly as Star Trek (or even CoX) can do it and manage to pull it off decently (it is just a matter of story construction, really, at that level), while when it done really well it can be a real experience, like saaaay David Lynch films. Many people walk out of his films going "That was so nonsensical that it just left me going "Huh?" at the end!" (it always happens to me too). Like any good surrealism work of art though, there's a method to everything going on inside of them and they all tie up together in these wonderful tangles of "dream logic" and recursive narrative. But you have to invest the time in putting it together yourself, sort of like looking at a drawing for a little while before catching the other, underlying subject like so.

I could criticize that drawing based on the fact that I can't really tell what that guy's face looks like, but that would be missing the point, yes?

All team members also get the clues, so if you put the Return Success/Fail dialog content in the Mission Complete clue the whole team can read all the useful content.

The Mission Introduction and Sendoff dialogs are concatenated and are available for anyone on the team to view from the more... button in the mission menu for the team.
I'm currently working on a lowbie villain arc, I'll have to see if I can't squeeze my ever-verbose story into it that way. If I get adventurous and can find the time I may try and rejigger the previous arcs for that as well, thanks for the tips.

HA! I'm glad you enjoyed it... sort of... if you can call that enjoyment anyways. Were you the one who left me a comment about playing it with a level 7 warshade?

I'll admit that last mission is a little harder than I had originally planned for. I've considered changing up the custom mobs' powers but they make too much thematic sense to me as they are. Still, the fact it can still be completable without too many deaths means it's still working more or less as intended, I think/hope. Testing it with my toons I found some could breeze through while others not so much depending on builds, slotting etc.

Hope you enjoy it on the Dark/SR and always - thanks for playing!

I have a Fire/Traps that I took up to 47 or so before my altitis claimed him and he was pretty good for AoE madness. I always wanted to try that with an EB but never got around to it. Still, */Traps is pretty good imho. Looking at this thread though, I want to make like 3 more Corrs now. :P

  19. I haven't suffered a good scrapperlock in ages, I should do something about that...

My DB/Nin stalker used to sometimes fall into scrapperlock. These are the two stand-out memories.

I was PuGing some radio missions I think with a group of people who were around -1 to -2 levels from where I was. We were doing a Council mission and I found I could just about play tank because of the lesser-leveled Council, mostly blue-con to me. I accidentally ran right into another group while trying to avoid a first group, ending up with both agroed. I survived for about 30 seconds and took down about a third of them. What kept me from running was the sound, my god the SOUND of close to 25 Council gattling guns all firing at once... In a split second I made the very conscious decision to stay and risk death just to be able to hear that sound for a few more seconds. It was a beautiful moment...

I was duoing with someone in my SG and we were doing that mission somewhere in the upper levels where you end up taking on that Crey lady, whatever her name is (I've only ever fought her this one time). So we're going through the mission and there she is. My friend faceplants almost immediatly because of something like he forgot to summon his FFG or didn't have his toggles on, something sort of silly like that, and there I am face to face with a barely scratched Crey. On a DB/Nin stalker, pre-stalker buffs. Ok, so she was only red-con to me, but still. That took like five full minutes of hackhackhackhackhackhackhack... good thing I had my Caltrops slotted for lots of +slow and a -regen proc. Things got hairy a couple of times as my HP sank and my heal hadn't recharged yet and I think by the end of the battle my Insp. tray was empty, but I never once thought "hm, maybe I should back off and come back after my pal's rezzed."

The two arcs listed in my threads are pretty soloable. I designed them around soloing primarily because I rarely have a team to test them out (who wants to play a story arc when you can farm?) and because being story driven, anyone other than the leader on a team will miss story content.
  21. As soon as this guide is posted, I'm going to set it up on my own subscription website and spam people to join for only $9.95...

Seriously though, this sounds like a great idea and I appreciate you're taking the time to do it.

In two sentences you made a suggestion that would have actually interested me in the "Roman zone". Anyways...

I have to admit I think this is overall something of a bad idea. My bias for using the AE was to make noncanon material that didn't rely on stock villains and groups. That said, my current project was a lowbie villain arc so this probably won't interfer with that too much as the only custom in it is a single boss.

After that one though, I'm not sure I feel driven to writer another arc as my current ideas are all pretty much "custom mob only"; perhaps I can adjust that.

I suppose in the long run it doesn't matter all that much as few people seem to care about nonfarm arcs anyways. Stopping players from farming AE means probably a good... hm, I'd guesstimate 75% of players will stop playing anything in AE, at least until the new version of PLing is invented. I don't mean to stir up an argument with that, that viewpoint is just based on things I've seen and how I see them.

Feh, once you get SB you can buffbot your way past those levels on any o' PuG (especially in AE). Which is what I did.

My AR/Kin's been fun for teaming but I have NO idea if he can solo at all. I created him like 2 years back, got him up to about 30 and wandered off, then came back recently and he's now up to 39. But that was all teaming. One of these days I need to fight back my fear and try some solo and see what happens.

    Canon Fodder

See those two arcs listed in my sig down below? I'll toss them into the mix.

The first one is all custom, although Paragon City and The Rogue Isles are named-checked. The second one is focused around the AE so might count as canon (I guess?) but has both canon and custom toons in it and dare I say the canon foes are used as noncanon. If you're curious about how i pull that off, check it out. Both arcs have lots of plays (94 and 49 last I checked) and are at 4 stars.

Edit:rereading the first post I see that you don't even want to touch anything dealing with a canon place, so skip the second arc then.
