I also don't think this is the proper forum to talk about specific ATs or "cantankerous malcontention"; there's a whole section of the boards for that purpose.

But he's not suffering from that, he's suffering from "can't-tank-er-ous malcontention!"
*cue groans*

Excellent guide, sir - proving most useful!
-
However, because TF mobs spawn at a static level rather than scaling to the players' levels, stealthing TF missions will cause a decrease in your possible xp/time period, assuming the mobs you are fighting are higher level than your character level.

I'm delighted to see your journal still running, Tpull - it's always been fascinating for me to read, as it comes from a much different viewpoint than my own.
I thought I'd mention something in regards to your most recent post: base accuracy in PvP combat is reduced to 50% from 75%, so that battles last longer and defense sets are decent. So that's why you feel like you're missing a lot! -
Athyna, isn't it supposed to take you appearing seven times in a thread before you drop an innuendo-bomb? I only count three...

Ctab: I'm pretty sure City of Heroes is a game.
Me: Paragon City is the City of Heroes.
C: I wish I could see it.
M: You can! You are in it!
C: Okay, okay. I am.
M: Well, I am off.
C: Me too!
M: Excellent. Enjoy cyberspace. I'll catch you around.
C: I dunno if that's legal.

I got a kick out of that. I knew it would happen, though, when I said cyberspace. -
True. It could be an acc debuff in the entire radius and a knockback effect directly around the caster, but frankly, the solution the devs have is better IMO. This is, of course, why they are the devs and I am a mere poster.
Note that I was never advocating a change of hurricane from repel to knockback -- just pointing out (or trying to point out) that the addition of repel resistance to defensive powersets made a lot of sense. -
Knockback is a single-instance effect -- because hurricane doesn't knock you on your feet, it carries you along instead, it can't employ knock back. If you're saying to change Hurricane to be, in effect, the same power as Repel from the kinetics set, that could be a feasible choice, but they'd have to change it to that only for PvP, not for PvE, to keep their pledge of "PvP will not affect PvE."
-
As another poster pointed out, the "repel" power of kineticists is, in fact, PBAoE knockback. Repel is the effect on hurricane and telekinesis. This protection was no doubt put in specifically to combat the strategy of cornering somebody with hurricane so that they cannot take any action against you in PvP.

I just fought Ballista yesterday. At first, my friend and I attempted to duo him -- myself as a 20 Brute, Lackeyed up to my 35 stalker friend. The two of us got him down to half HP without any significant problems, and then SHAZAM! Suddenly, we both died. Right before I went down, I realized that both of my toggle shields were down when I was about to be hit, and the knockback of his force bolt followed by his energy blast thoroughly did me in, without chance for recovery.
I'm torn on this issue -- on the one hand, if you take his toggle dropping off, I don't think he'd be very difficult -- I think the two of us could have taken him if he just had knockback, damage, and HP. On the other hand, the toggle dropping killed us multiple times.
I think you could reduce his HP to a more reasonable level and leave him with the toggle dropping -- that would present a unique challenge that was not insurmountable. Also, the damage on his force bolt should be that of an actual force bolt (negligible, Brawl Index of about 1), not nemesis staff damage as it currently is.
Alternately, leave toggle dropping only on force bolt, and take it off of his energy melee. -
Rumor has it it will be exactly like The Sims 2, except with PCU instead of Sim U, and with random spandex-clad muscular beings bursting through your walls at regular intervals. Oh, and you'll be required to superglue your purse to your hand, if you are a woman.

So long, Gil!
I've been here since the beginning, and I've loved the work you've done! IMO, the articles you wrote were great for building the community outside of when people were playing the game. I wish you the best of luck in whatever job you're moving on to, and hope you always remember Paragon fondly. -
I desire for pistol scrappers as well. However, you have to wonder -- on the graph he was talking about for finding balance of powersets, is range a factor for scrappers? Because if not, I imagine balancing pistols would be very difficult.
Just a thought... -
Wait...
...does this mean you're only opposing the Forum Cartel because you're not in it? That while you're staring into the abyss, the abyss is staring back into you? That...
That you'll leave we mere mortals in our time of greatest need, when the Forum Cartel comes to our dimension to take over???
*goes off to form a government agency capable of destroying the forum cartel. maybe.* -
Happy 5000 posts, your overlordness, sir!

And that is how awesome the writers are at building a continuous world. It feels like the last few episodes of JLU this season, where things ranging from Superman: TAS to the first season of Justice League to last season all tied together into one, tight, coherent megaplot.
This could be an indicator of the trial/TF you might have to complete to gain access to Incarnates -- Find, and then drink from, the Well of the Furies. That, or, you know -- rob the MAGI vault and drink theirs. Everyone else does it... -
Nice explanation -- and your avatar really DOES look good. I've been thinking of revamping my avatar for awhile, so I'll probably give it a shot in the next couple days! Thanks for the useful post!

One word:
SWEEET!
Nice job, man. -
Another question to ponder is where Foreshadow fits in to all of this? Is he an incarnate, or simply a MA/SR scrapper? He is kind of immortal, what with the being-reincarnated-after-he-dies thing, but he's different from both Recluse and Statesman in that he changes sides of the moral battleground.
While I enjoy all the speculation, I don't think Incarnates in general will have direct ties to gods, because really, who would believe that there were 1000 incarnations of gods running around in one city? That would be obscene. Plus, the public tends to be touchy about having gods in games. Incarnates definitely could be products of ancient magical rituals, though -- rituals dating to the Classical period, or to even longer ago. -
I know he wouldn't get the powers normally, that's why I said to just give him his own EPP. The man built his armor, right? Surely he can handle a few minor modifications...
-
They should make an EPP, just for Positron, and give him power push, force bolt, the first attack in energy melee, and repel. Max out the knockback on all of them, set his effective level to 100, and just watch the badguys rain down on Steel Canyon. That'd be awesome.
-
I think it's down again. Still gives the "thank you for testing message," but no channel access once it's turned on.
-
Ah! I knew I was right...
I forgot my tinfoil hat this morning, but since have found it again and thus am now again in agreement with you. -

Okay, I'm a villain, but I don't believe I ever said I'd like to see an increase in the sub rate. I have no idea what the plans are although many things have been discussed.
As I have said, this is a decision that involves NCSoft and not Cryptic alone.

While Gaffer has made it clear on several occasions that he likee the monee in general, Lord_Recluse hasn't given detail on his perspective on this question.
When I get the time, I'll put this into the recreational queue of my Search-Fu machine.

Even I make mistakes sometimes, it would seem. Very sorry, Mr. Evil Overlord Sir. I'll use the search tool next time instead of relying on my inadequate human brain. -
Yes, there are people out here. But no, we're not built to serve you and don't check the boards every thirty seconds just to reply to your question, which has been asked a zillion times already.
That's what minions in game are for.
/rant. Epiphoid's mostly right - it was a Lord Recluse comment, not Statesman, who specified he'd like to see a raise to maybe eightteen or twenty dollars, but again, the billing plans have not been worked out yet. If it's not necessary to raise the cost, IE there would be no improvement to the game from it, or it would be a diminishing return -- they won't.
Please, when asking about topics which may have occurred to other people (e.g. Anything not real-hero-of-genius level), use the search button at the top of the page to see if it's been asked already.
