Quote:Hear, hear!!I know players that have been playing for years that have no bonuses. Many of them are very good players that I'd take over snobs that insist that a player have set bonuses and use IO builds.
Since the game difficulty is based around SO's (aside from Incarnate Content apparently) it's simply elitism and snobbery to insist that players you team with use IO's and have set bonuses.
Attitudes like that from players is one reason some people prefer to solo. -

Quote:There is already an xp bump for team members, right?I think there are fewer team being formed now than in the past. I believe this game works at its most fun in teams. I think you can incentivize team building by giving a team of 6-8 players more drops or better drops or unique drops or perhaps a new type of drop you can only get in larger teams. I also think if you give the leader of the team a special reward for forming the team that would encourage people to make teams. But you'd only get these rewards outside of AE missions- those farmers get enough stuff already. Plus, you need to finish the mission to get the rewards- again, that would perhaps discourage farming.
There are probably things you could do, but as long as it avoids forcing teams. Because frankly, much of the time I think the game is more fun solo. TFs are there for when I feel the need to team, and already too much trialy trial repetition. -

Quote:But ***spoiler***The main reason R+L = J is so George can end the story with Jon and Dany getting married and Jon taking the Iron Throne. The Targaryens get to continue their freaky deaky ways (Dany would be Jon's aunt), and Jon actually has a claim to the North, so everyone is happy!

Quote:Keep in mind that while there are gaps in the written work that leave out key characters for extended periods, the events are largely concurrent. Lots of editing to chop and align, but I think they could manage around the periods that would seem like missing the main characters. Be a fun challenge as a screen writer, but some real hair pulling I bet. That's true of course, but they have to balance that with boring the viewers with a lot of new characters and storylines that aren't directly related to the main characters already.
They might have Feast and Dance spread over two season (still they would certainly combine them, they aren't going to give some of the star characters a whole season off and then ask the audience to go back in time the following year) but I can't see them going any more than two at most. So one season or two, GRRM still has to get cranking on the remaining books. -
Quote:Not sure I'd expect that.Yep, I don't see the ratings dropping on this until season 5, unless they make some big mistakes along the way. Season 5 could likely be slow or frustrating if not handled very, very well. I imagine there will be some major cuts, because I don't think they're going to want to drag out Feast and Dance over more than one season. I see (most of) those two books being combined into season 5 and, hopefully season 6 will pick up with Winds of Winter.
They need to carefully pace so they do not out run the published material, and given GRRM's writing rate, that would be a real concern. -
Quote:Haven't seen any details, and in no way does the pure concept of radiation align with that of a symbiote... *shrug*You already got symbiotic armor in the works, and its like a toxic/radiation symbiotic like Venon or Carnage, and does looks very promising.
(Ignoring the fact that binding a set to a limited concept like that is itself awkward.)
Good luck with the suggestion, but I'd be very disappointed if one of the longest standing player requests like rad armor got bumped for a johnny-come-lately. -
Whedon is spot on. Sorry.

Yes it was, for the most part. (But isn't that your standard post for everything anyway?
)
Ignoring the mess that came out of Praetoria, I think generally content on the whole has been improving for a while. Sam is right though, there is a lot to be said for straight forward and toned down. -

Quote:It does. And it is what I fervently hope to see.I would still like to believe that this "next gen MMO" is not itself a new game or a COH 2.0, but an upgrade to the original COH. Like, building a new game engine to break free of Cryptic Studios greatly haggard 1999 engine, but can still maintain the current game we have.
If that makes sense.
But 'new IP' makes me doubtful. -

Quote:Not really. I've just moved from 100% CoH play to about 2 hours in the last 30 days while playing something else. No disservice to me there. There is no COH2 and people working themselves up over it are doing themselves a disservice.
(And I'm not sure that CoH2 is the primary supposition of what the shiny new is...) -
As do I, but from my corporate experience I still don't think it was a coincidence that he and Castle left shortly after they didn't get promoted when Posi got his 'special assignment'. (personal opinion, etc.)
As to the OP, I have become convinced that CoH2 better be in the works, because the extension of CoH1 is loosing its luster for me. -

Quote:It is an interesting idea, I'll grant you, but I think VG is right. You will be dealing enough damage to targets with the mass power.
Pets+Brute force.
Ideally, you'd be a DPS machine, but your pets will be squishie and leveling up would be very frustrating.
And there mutiple threads about how that just isn't fun/adequate in it's current form.
