Quote:Woah Woah hey now you can just go around speaking truth and insights into the nerd psychology like that... what were you thinking? This is the answer people seem to give the most, but I don't think it's actually true. I think it's just a way to be humorously defensive about it to forestall any accusations of homosexuality.
I would point out that it is probably the people that ONLY play one gender that are the ones that have some sort of gender hangup. It's perfectly cool to play a dude that shoots lightning from his hands, but being a chick is weird? That's messed up, man.
Nothing to see here folks... pay no attention to the little man behind the curtain!

Quote:We are saying the same thing Foo, just using different words. What i said/meant...Wait, wait, wait. You can be male (YX) or female (XX). Rarely, you can by a male with YYX chromosomes, but there's no YY people.
If you don't have at least one Y (meaning XY or a normal male) chromosome then youz iz bein' a chick
can also have two Y (meaning XYY otherwise called XYY Syndrome)
or two X and one Y (meaning XXY otherwise called Kleinfelter's Syndrome)
In the first two the single X is implied as you cannot have just a "Y" person either.
Oh and as a preemptive strike against your likely retort... BITE MEH!

Quote:Sheesh who woke up the Grinch who judged poems??? lol.How is that a poem? Because it's written in stanzas? It's not poetic to talk in normal language and pretend it's prose. I don't mean to be rude, but that reads more like a prayer... yes I got up on the wrong side of the bed today. And another thing, her birthday is 4 days away... whoa, I am on a roll. Let me try again...
How is that a poem?
Because it's written in stanzas?
It's not poetic to talk
in normal language
and pretend it's prose.
I don't mean to be rude,
but that reads more
like a prayer...
yes I got up
on the wrong side
of the bed today.
And another thing,
her birthday is 4 days away...

--------------------
Okay seriously. Happy 31 and GK, I'm sorry I really like good poetry, and I really don't like bad poetry. Or bad prose masquerading as poetry. Or rhyming in poetry. Or laundry lists trying to be poetry. Poetry is about the beauty of language, not about wishing someone Happy Birthday... it can be, but it often fails to be. Thoughts on a Friendship, could be about your dog, what makes anything you say there reveal that it's Envee you're speaking about. Think about it. In the words of Daffy Duck, "Try it again you darn bunny!!!" No offense intended.
Also - I insist anyone who responds to me negatively, do so in Iambic Pentameter...
I didn't have the heart to say anything discouraging when I know the
sentiment behind the words is good but well dang now that it's out there...
yeah it's not poetry... but it is still nice (the thought that counts and all that).
Well the poetry of "five feet" was never my strongsuit but if you insist LJ...
---------------------------------------------
You see tis' harsh to mock displays as such
GK meant well in his approach I'm sure
So I had chose to use polite response
And not to damn his attempted poem
But rather say some words of praise, touche'

Quote:Sadly no it doesn't.Also, just hit ctrl+z to undo your last action. That should have brought your deleted text back.
Ctrl+Z which is the shorcut for the "undo" funtion in most apps (even works in photoshop
) and Ctrl+Y which is "redo" (which undoes your undo lol) only work if your page is still intact, once you hit backspace and load a previous page "undo" cannot help you.
If you accidentally wipe your text out but are still on that same page then ctrl+z will work fine (undo works at all times in photoshop because you are always on the "same page").
That's really cool. Both the nice piece of Fenian and the secret santa for artz... we should do something like that on the boards here.Quote:Over on Deviant Art the Bayan Knights group had their own version of Secret Santa - The first 45 or so of their watches who commented got a little gift art from one of the members of Bayan Knights.
My Secret Santa turned out to be Miliescent Curse http://miliescentcurse.deviantart.com/ and my gift just got delivered

I kinda do already in that I like surprising people with gift art but it's only me (i'm not coordinating with other artists when I do it) and it's not in any way organized I just choose based on a whim, a cool screenie that catches my eye or someone who I think deserves it for their contributions in keeping this board interesting.

Quote:Bah! You act as though there are no people here puttin up da beefcake for da ladies or sumpin? If it weren't for some of the guyz playing MALE toonz! And a few of you galz who play MALE toonz as well, I would never have any "eye candy" to look at and would thus have to play a MALE toon in order to have a HAWT "BEEFCAKE" to look at.
Thank you JKat for playing HAWT MALE toonz for me to drool over!

Quote:While I don't share in the Y chromosome pool, I decided to take a closer look at the male walk emote. I gotta say, and back me up on this Y chromosome people, the male walk emote absolutely pales in comparison to the female walk emote.
The female walk just oozes confidence and a sexy swagger. The male walk has no swagger, no sex appeal, no oompf...no...nothin'. In fact, if you speed up the walk emote animation, it may appear the male is clenching his butt cheeks together trying to find a restroom.
I'm jus' sayin'
Wait you don't share in the Y chromosome pool? You do realize that having a Y chromosome means you are a male of the species? If you don't have at least one Y (can also have two Y or two X and one Y) chromosome then youz iz bein' a chick.
Hmmm never tried the walk animation on a male toon, I'll have to go check it out.

Lol hehe. It's kinda funny when people use images that they don't realize the significance of.
I still think Pyro's was the best as it implied a total zinger of an insult that he was not aware of and did not (so he professes
) intend but this one is pretty great too. It's nothing bad VexXxa (quite the opposite in this case) as with all the thousands of cute bunny images out there you chose one that is the avatar of a minor web celebrity and one of the staunchest proponents of intelligence, sanity, reason and logic on the internet Thunderfoot.
The guy has hundreds of thousands of subscribers (80,000 on just his youtube channel alone) and many millions of views... yadda yadda lol if you have never heard of him you should take a peek at his stuff.
Oh and for those girls who like guys with accents, well...
@ VexXxa If you go to his homepage look on the left side under the video window at his avatar.

I would honestly suggest you get it colored professionally. Eddy Swan could probably bang it out in no time, otherwise there are colorists on DA that work for $10 or even less and they do great stuff.

Happy Birthday early Ennvee!
(what is it with all the birthdays all of a sudden??? Our parents must have really liked early spring or sumpin'
)
I will probably be around on Thursday after 5 or so and I will try and tune in to your FTW show.
That is a real nice poem GK.

Quote:Awesome my favorite! It two great things that go great together (who needs penautbutter and chocolate).I had just woken up. I knew I was forgetting something...
*gives CR some bacon-wrapped BEWBS*

Awww I didn't know it was a going away present. Safe travel where ever it is your off to and see ya when you return.Quote:Thanks for the beautiful going away gift, CR. I hope to be back *before* spring. (*crosses paws*)
Good luck on meeting your self-challenge. The pieces you've done so far are *quite* yummitastic!
(*waves buh-buh to the Art Forumites and huggles each of them*)
Clear skies, Everyone!
Thanks I plan on trying all different kinds of styles and medium throughout the 40 drawings and FArt contest (for as long as I last in it) and see what I can learn along the way.Quote:Ah, heh, well awesome
There is certainly no less with the full refs, just stupid amounts of more, mainly of various costumes. Looking awesome so far btw on the arts, I love seeing all sorts of different styles.
-
Beautiful piece Wassy, your figures have come quite a ways since your life drawing class.

If I had to give some con/crit I would mention the fingers on her right hand are about half again as long as they should be... also there look to be only 4 fingers...
I suppose that could a part of the characters back story that I don't know about, did something happened to her hand?
If it's not intentional then I would say shorten the fingers and put in a distinct line separating out the digits to show the four correctly in relation to the thumb.
Very nice line work too btw.

#3 of 40 is up in my New Artz thread.

I don't normally draw (or play for that matter) villains but I liked the combination of face pieces used in this one so I chose to try Johnny Kats Electrikill.
@Kai I already had something roughed out that relates to one of your heroes but I'll take a look through your new refs and see if there are some better shots to work with.
Not sure when in the 40 it will appear but I'll give ya a hint,
It's no secret I'm a browncoat.

Happy Birthday JohnnyKat!
I have a gift for ya too... mwhahahah... ahem, have a peek in my New Artz thread.
Link is the button my sig.

Quote:Good timing Katt... everyones favorite kitty defender clocks in at #2 of 40.Quite an ambitious undertaking, CR!

Good luck with meeting such a Herculean task!
Of course, you're welcome to add me to your growing queue of prospective models (if you so choose).
BTW, does this mean you won't be entering any artz in the FArt competition?!
Yes I'm still entering the FArt contest and I may count the 2-3 pieces submitted for Jan Feb and March toward my 40... just depends on if the themes go with what I happen to be drawing. Of course if I am eliminated early on... then it's a moot point and I will just continue with my own 40 drawings until March 1st.
I slack whenever I can manage it but who has the time these days.Quote:Naw, he said (somewhere) that he was entering n addition to this... Though I believe he said the entries to that would count towards the 40 in 60...
He's such a slacker, that one!

Ty.

What no bacon or bewbehs?
Thanks Kheldarn^2.
YOU CAN DO IT ALL NIGHT LONG! lol The Waterboy was so silly it was funny.Quote:I'll definitely be keeping an eye out on your thread
*does the worst Rob Schneider impresion anyone has ever heard* YOU CAN DO IT!!!
"Mama says alligators are ornery cuz dey got all dem teeth and no toothbrush"
"Medulla Oblongata!" lol

A silhouette reflection might work... like a straight shadowed line that goes across the goggles and varies up an down matching the mages conical hat shape in front of him. Above the line is black and below is that orange and yellow cast. Hmmm not sure how it would work with the lighting though... maybe play around with it a bit.
-
Hey Clutch, love that piece (the CoT deserve a good beatdown) and the tread pattern on his boot looks strangely familiar

(mainly cuz I spent all day yesterday looking at it while drawing my first of 40 heh).
Great job on the mage and I especially like the face of the acolyte next to Crusades knee. First rate bro.
The one thing I would critique though is the way the goggles are lit.
It makes them look a bit like cross eyed googly eyes. -
Quote:A) Well you see VexXxa we just... KRAAANNG!!! OWW! Who put that darn sign post right in the middle of the sidewalk right where people could bump into it?HAHAHAAA...your responses are interesting and funneh!!
I've heard alot of the "staring at the butt" responses before. But now that opens up more questioning, like...
A) If you are all so into staring at the butts, how do you get any where without doing face plants into walls or landing butt first in gutters?
B) If your female toons wear capes, then you can't see the butts any ways. So why bother?
C) Now the sexeh walk thing, I understand. However, what I don't understand is why I don't so you all struttin your stuff all over the place. After all, why run, fly, leap or tp when you can strut the entire way and watch your little cheekies jiggle and wiggle.

B) Ah you see that is why there are short capes and single shoulder capes... they thought ahead so we could still have the coolness of a cape for our female heroes without obstructing the view... clever devs.
C) It takes too long to get anywhere that way... eventually we lose patience or get kicked off the team cuz we took so long to get to the mission, of course now that there is a mission teleporter it's not really a problem.
-
Nice work LJ.

Hey what's the story with this one, are the eyes in the background supposed to be human or cat's (the irises)?
-
Ok first one is done, phew and just in time too.

Oh yeah and DING DING 1k posts w00t

What better way to celebrate my hitting the thousand post marker than with the
kickoff of my personal New Years Art resolution.

Oh I should probably mention that #1 of 40 is over in my "New Artz" thread.

It's not that hard to do... it's what I used for the big costume contest way back when to get Chloe perched on top of a
meteor out in Bloody Bay (without sliding off), put the "Lost" staff in her hand while doing a victory emote
and also get a bunch of the Croatoa witches into BB bowing to their rightful queen.

She has elbows???
Oh yeah right those things above the... uhhhh tail.

Turrets Syndrome? Rikkets?
Or do you get to have your very own disease named after you?
***dons official looking white lab coat and assumes phony pretentious doctor voice***
Are you or a loved one you know suffering from Caemgenitis???
Symptoms may include a distinct increase in pervyness behaviourz towards random female strangers
on the internet and an overwhelming compulsion to commission tons of artz...
...it may also cause you to generously give away much of said artz and flames to shoot out your rump
at random intervals but these last two symptoms have yet to be confirmed.
There is no known cure but if your art gifting gets carried away you should seek professional help.

Quote:Not yet lol. Was working on a new PC for most of the morning and afternoon but I have one almost done... and by almost I mean I will be working on it for another hour or two at least... not sure why I went such a detailed piece for the first day (the hero has brown skin too so lots of shading) but hey may as well start things off with a bang. So, have you finished the first one yet?? The day is half over!!

Also, you going to post them all up or you keeping them more private and only showing the awesome ones??? (Not to add any pressure or anything...)

It is a CoH piece and it is pencils... it's one of my favorite powers from the Martial Arts set.
Oh and I do plan to show them all... hopefully there will be more good stuff than stinkers... no pressure or anything.
