  1. Hey, can someone give me a rundown of the most recent, recent changes for Stalkers?

    Thanks.
  2. Describe your typical playing experience these days.

I only just reactivated over the weekend. So far I've done two iTrials and played a few lowbies. I bought and started a Titan Weapons character, and played him in the Sewer Trial until level 12, then decided I wasn't in love with him. Two characters I was enjoying before I took a break, a level 22 Street Justice brute and a level 23 Elec/Time controller, are still a lot of fun for me.

Of the content that is considered relatively new, what is your most favorite?

I haven't done anything new since I got back, except for play with the Titan Weapons and walk into DA long enough to join a trial. I don't know what is available, really.

    When do you play?

I work from home on Tuesdays, so I'll be on during some work hours that day. Otherwise, evenings and weekends, but I haven't established anything resembling a routine yet. I'm not certain it will be such a routine thing even, yet.

What timeframe seems to be the most active on the server in your estimation?

    BEATS ME.

    What's going on "IRL" lately?

Workin'. Avengers next week! I began a diet today and I already hate it. Been playing games... Mass Effect 3 was great. Shadow of the Colossus was a little underwhelming. Xenoblade Chronicles seems good, but I can't get into it for anything.

An Indie PC game called To the Moon has been my favorite.
  3. I don't know how many times I can apply the paddles to this place.

    WHAT'S UP.

What has everyone been doing for the past year or so?

C'mon now, there must be something.

I guess I can put it into a poll:

  4. Is there a way to look at the power list or see a video of the set in action (outside of going to youtube, I mean in-game) before purchasing?

Great, thanks. I now have enough to buy one of them.

Can someone give me a quick rundown of Titan Weapons Vs. Staff Fighting? Which is considered better so far? And Scrapper, Brute, or Tanker?
  6. And just reactivated VIP so I could play with the new power sets only to find that:

    Titan Weapons didn't unlock.
    Staff Fighting didn't unlock.
    Beast Mastery didn't unlock.

So what did unlock? And what's the point of going VIP?

I was last active about half a year ago, right after Street Fighting and Time Manipulation were introduced. I messed around for a second as a Free player before reactivating to see that my Street Fighting character was accessible, but my Time Manipulation character was not.

SO, first and foremost, could someone tell me what exactly the benefits for VIP are these days? I know some sort of Darkness Control was introduced - Can I access that as a VIP, or do I have to buy that as well?

Secondly, I'm back! For a month. Like I said, been about 6 months - What have I missed?

I just spent $15 to reactivate the account, and the sets I really wanted to try (Titan Weapons and Staff Fighting) are still locked. They cost 800 tokens - How much is that in real money again?

Any answers and help reacclimating is appreciated. Thank you.

That's the spirit! Maybe I'll actually poke my head in now.
  9. A lot still do them. Christos Gage answers his comic letters himself (namely Avengers Academy). Amazing Spider-Man editor Stephen Wacker answers the letters in the books he presides over (ASM and all related titles). Robert Kirkman answers his (with the help of editor Sina Grace) in all of his books (namely Invincible and The Walking Dead). I believe Peter David used to answer letters in X-Factor, but I can't recall him doing that in a while. I believe editor Nick Lowe does a lot of the letters in the X-books.

I read a ton of Marvel books. I'd say that most regular Marvel serieses still do a Letters Page.

That was the big debate in out house... I'll get more into it in the next post.

Shane was the weaker link in that situation. Yes, Otis was heavier and had sprained his ankle as well, but he wasn't laboring to walk as hard as Shane, and he was even helping Shane along the way. Otis would have made it on his own and Shane wouldn't have, and it was that realization that made Shane do what he did - His own fear.

That being said, Shane did tell Otis to leave him, and Otis said he wouldn't do that. So Otis was given his chance, which must have been how Shane rationalized it.

And he likely didn't shoot him in the head because he was afraid that Otis could react in time to him raising his gun, and/or he thought a struggling body would be more of an attractor to the zombies than a still corpse.

Oh sure. Here it is late-October and I know I've got a complete store of fireworks just in the back of my car, waiting for a situation like this...

... These guys are on the run, carrying what they can! Fireworks are sold twice a year! They're not just gonna have some fireworks!

(They absolutely should have carried more flares, however.)

  13. This is an issue from 9/21, but I thought I could ask...

Is anyone reading Joe Casey's Marvel miniseries "Vengeance"? I'm midway through #3 and have no idea what the **** is going on. I've been looking for other opinions on if it's worth reading or not - The only online review I found was at CBR and the guy loved it, but admitted his bias. Just wondering if anyone else has an opinion.
  14. Civil War resulted from a direct super-human conflict of young, inexperienced heroes. Fear Itself, there wasn't even heroes present in the remote areas the Worthy attacked, so it's not a direct correlation.

Now, if you're taking a "theory of escalation" approach, where some politician in the Marvel Universe posits that villains wouldn't exists without heroes, that's a different story; one that could only be told for a month before any random megalomaniac holds the capital hostage. It's a story with only one inevitable conclusion, so I don't see Marvel jumping to tell it.

Besides, the big anti-superhero proponent since Civil War was Miriam Sharpe with her campaign in the name of her son, Damien (I can remember his name, but not her initiative; figures). In the pages of Fear Itself, she's been working with the former scapegoat, Speedball, and made a public announcement calling for unified support behind the heroes who were risking their lives across the world.

While I think it's possible, I don't think it's likely. Besides, was Secret Invasion filled with many casualties? Siege was built on the Volstagg-gut-induced tragedy at a baseball stadium, but IIRC, the Skrulls didn't arrive guns blazing since they wanted to claim Earth for themselves.

But you read the book, you know more are to come. Even if they decide to keep certain ones alive for longer, it's probably still imminent. By the nature of the show and all of the characters that come in and out of the cast (of the book), there is a necessity for a lot to die and/or "leave," otherwise they'd be on the run with a 30-member party.
  16. As some of you may remember, I'm a bit of a Marvel fanboy. However, I'm working to detach myself more and more. It got bad, to where I was reading any book with any sort of tie to any book I regularly read. Then I got behind, because I expected myself to read like 20 books a week, and it just wasn't working.

So I'm currently going through and "cutting the fat." For instance, I don't give a damn about Black Panther, so I'm not going to read his series, even if it's tying into Spider-Island, which I am reading. I'm not interested in the New Mutants, so who cares what their reaction to Schism is?

I think I finally came to this realization after reading Fear Itself: Fearsome Four with Howard the freakin' Duck. Biggest waste of time there ever was. And then I saw that "Worthy" Hulk was going to fight Dracula, that was it. "DONE!" I shouted, then read Fear Itself: The Deep, Fear Itself: Homefront, and Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt.

(The difference: Those books at least have characters or storylines that interest me.)

As for the OP's main point about casualties... Why not? Action movies do it. I don't think Marvel is going to have to keep the per capita income of France in mind for any future storylines (besides, I'm sure Grey Gargoyles' "spell" will fade when he goes back to being a chump). It's just a way make the tragedy more impactful.

I thought it was fine through the first half of the game, but it really got to me the deeper into it I got, especially during the finale.

I consider it good news. I guess he saw how well the game was received and thought maybe he spoke too soon. Too bad they (I tried to do spoiler-text, didn't work)... Well, you know.

It's also hard for me to believe it'll get better in that department when it can't bring itself to kill off characters that should already be dead. It has me wondering what else they'll drag out for the sake of filler.
A lot of characters have died already, or at least been grievously injured. I think that's more than most shows already.

    He's probably my favorite character.

He's a flawed, but good man. (Can only speak to the TV Show-- he may have been a thorough rotter in the comic). And I find his journey more interesting because of that.
Except for all of that "attempted ****" business.

But okay, I do agree with you. I think the writers regret including that at the end of last season, because now they're seemingly back-pedaling and trying to keep him alive and make him more likeable. When he and Rick were having their heart-to-heart talks at the farm, I thought he was going to confess to him about Lori during their shared moment.

Yes it was the fever talking with T-Bone but I was expecting him to use the "brother is the first to die" movie trope than the redneck line.

Deus ex Daryl strikes again. And he gets the one liner as well.

I agree with the talk show folks, Andrea is a zombie magnet.

I think the positive talk about the series comes more from mundanes than horror/zombie aficionados and comic fans.
Many things: Deus Ex Daryl is hilarious. Did you coin that?

I thought that's where T-Dawg was going as well. I do think he was in self-preservation, fever-induced mode though. I mean, just last episode he agreed with Dale about stalling for time for Sophia. T-Dawg is a good person, I think they're just trying to build reasons for him to start trusting Dale.

"the mundanes" - Tell me you didn't intend this to be as condescending as it sounds.

When the topic arose in the comic, Rick didn't want to know about Judith's paternity. In fact, he specifically dismisses the conversation. Citing that he couldn't handle it.

To bring it back to the show (and in the comic to a lesser degree), Rick runs from his problems. One of the reasons I really dislike the character in the show currently. He's constantly "doing the right thing", when he's often just being cowardly (Going back to Atlanta for Merle when he should have 1) Been with his family and 2) hash things out with Lori for example). If Jenner had told him that his wife was with child, he wouldn't want the confrontation of "Did you sleep with my wife?" with Shane.

Until maybe in season 3. Or maybe a cliff hanger for season 2.

If the whisper was about being infected, why would Jenner release them at all? He clearly believed that no more research was being done elsewhere. And if he believed that there was that chance, I think he would have left with the other survivors.

Ultimately though, the whisper could have blank in script 6. Based on the commentary, the director claimed that the scripts were often changed. So it could have "the series is finished, so it'll be them being infected" or it could have been "the series is going to another season, let's change it to something to continue the series"

I picked up the blu-ray "special edition" release last night of season 1. I was a little surprised to hear that, based on the conversation in Episode 6 (?) that the Governor is being considered for the show. Which was strange because a buddy of mine was saying it (the Governor being in the show) would be an interesting way to bring Merle back just the other night.
I like all of your thoughts. But also, a poster on another forum I frequent reported that Dale (I think his real name is Norman Reedus) was asked about his brother returning and he said that he will be, but specifically said that he won't be the Governor. This was at something called ZomBCon. So take that hearsay with a grain of salt.
  19. What time are we talking here, LL? I'm central timezone. Try to convert for me.

I'm around early in the day on Tuesdays. I work from home that day, and can usually muster having the game on my home computer while my work laptop is up. It sometimes means I have to AFK, but not nearly as often as one would expect. Yesterday I ran the Posi 1, 2, and joined a Trial league (and spammed a bunch of channels) during said time without too many troubles (though there were a couple of lengthy AFKs during Posi 2, but never for an entire mission and/or enough to hold up the team).

So, if this coincides, I'd join you.

If you're talking late at night central time? yeah, can't help you there. I'm too old for late-night CoH party these days.
  20. m0ley was always fun. I feel bad for leaving him out - We had good emo music talks as well.
  21. He's free to do what he wants and must be well-compensated for doing the voice, but it's his prerogative to give it up. Just as long as he understands that the role doesn't die with his departure.

... He's probably tired of making appearances at comic conventions.

    Book help...

From what I can tell, it is a physical book. Durakken hasn't provided some of those details, and only presented enough information that we may come this his own conclusion: "Your brother is a greedy SOB for that price." There isn't more information for us to determine if he has any control over that price, if he paid for it himself, or anything else that may offer some validation or at least explanation.

He should definitely look into creating an ebook version, just because more versions out there can't be a bad thing.

And Durakken should read more books. Acting like he should be praised for not reading books in the first post has made me insane.

    Book help...

Because he had the intitiative to self-publish. I would surmise that the slightly higher price point is an attempt to recoup his own expenses ASAP.

Poems are entire works, even if they're only one page. A book with 24 poems should be comparable to a book with 24 essays or 24 short stories, otherwise a poet could never publish any of their own material without belonging to an anthology or filling the book with illustrations or other material that they may not think are worth of publishing.

You may not value a poem on the same scale as that of a short story because the quantity isn't the same, but that shouldn't be the only determinant. Ralph Waldo Emerson, Shakespeare, William Blake - They didn't all begin in Anthologies.
