Quote:That's some creative slotting imoI slotted 3 numina's, heal, heal/rech, and heal/end/rech, and 3 Aegis, resist, resist/rech, resist/end/rech.
With Spiritual, gets me +51.8 resist, +112 heal, +126 rech, +42 end reduction. Set bonuses are 12 percent regen, 1.88 percent hit points, 5 percent move speed, and 3.13 fire/cold defense. It does not suck.
With hasten, it recharges about every 14 seconds or so. Each application gets me 30 percent toxic resist, and they last a minute, so it's stupid easy to cap as long as I start hitting it about a minute before I hit the toxic deathstorm.
Oh, and it also heals for like 995 every time it goes off. -
what does the slotting look like for some thing like that 2 IOs of each attribute? 4of 1 set? last 2 slots for Res?

Quote:Bolded for truthThe LGTF (and instanced shadow shard) maps need to be fixed. I'm really tired of things vanishing on them - seems to throw off pet and npc AI, too.
As for the portal? Yes, the IP one is odd like that. So's the one in Pocket D, for me - it doesn't show up unless (and sometimes even if) I'm right on it.
However, this should *probably* be in a different section, and/or PM'd to a redname. -
Do you have a toon or build in mind which utilities unusual slotting or tactics? Please share :-)
My main a bots/traps/mu has brawl on auto and every 20% chance or better dmg proc slotted in it. It's sort of amusing to 3 shot even lvl minions with brawl or over kill by several times over low level mobs with one brawl makes me wish those procs imparted a visual effect like a burst of negative nrg, a visual slash effect for lethal procs and the super strength effect for smashing procs because brawl's visual is a bit anemic though I could just settle for a brawl with super strength like effects option
I also have a Arch/Kin with Kick on auto and I plan on slotting in the chance for knockdown proc -
I think players should be able to attempt to solo those tfs with there incarnate abilities

I think Iconic as "this is what most everybody thinks of" I don't think any character is limited or even defined by anyone look and is imo infinitely open to reinterpretation and upgrades regardless of whatever the expectation is

When it comes too outfits/looks "Iconic" doesn't add much value in my book
G1 cartoon Optimus Prime's look and attitude are fine and iconic
But The War Within, Super Galaxy Convoy, and Fire Convoy looks are far superior Imo
and the g2 comic's prime has the definitive attitude every prime should be based on imo
The two Nolan Verse batman outfits are better than anything I've ever seen Bruce or Dick wear in comics or in the cartoons
The vast majority of the outfits I've see Supes in don't work for me but there are some outfits from the mythos I would like to see "updated" for a movie; God Fall, but my favorite one isn't a clark suit it's the red and blue one Connor wore that is a design worth of being movie-ized in the same vein as Captain America(which I really dig) -
Keyes is great in terms of how BG protects you from pulses, awful in terms of how often AM may aggro on your pets causing them to fight back causing the pulse dmg to increase in magnitude for everyone else(???) My first pug keyes was a success but I would never want to do it again.
The other trials were doable once you got all the lvl shifts so this con at your lvl system is a nice change of pace -
Positioning pre combat, Bodyguard and if team TP works right you can avoid unnecessary mobs all together otherwise they die needlessly also I skipped a standard travel power for team tp so i wouldn't be saving a power either way

Quote:I'm gonna go craft it naoI watched two of them in action. They have a number of hard-hitting AoEs, but seem to have a very slow attack rate (Not nearly as nice an attack chain as the vanguard HVAS for instance). But from one outing I thought they were doing better than the clocks. Would like to see some hard numbers though as this is pure observation on my part from only one event.

Quote:wow a serious responseI took Team Teleport on my MM and have been thoroughly disappointed. Pets inherit the hover too late and drop from the sky while team mates are swept up in the teleportation and become annoyed. It would be great of the developers made a MM friendly power pool that granted minor buffs to pets and movement powers that were truly friendly to the MM. Any AT that relied heavily on pets could benefit from this (Traps, Controllers, SoA, Warshades, etc).
I'd sugest passive abilities at tier 1 and 2, the first being a passive like Swift that affects pets, and the second being a passive like Hurdle that also only affects pets. Tiers 3 and 4 would be MM/pet class friendly movement powers. One would be Team Teleport that only affects the owner and their summoned pets. The second would be like Group Fly, again affecting just the owner and their summoned pets. Tier 5 would phase both the owner and their summoned pets, with the exact same restrictions as Phase Shift from the Stealth Pool.
What someone else suggested once was giving Team TP an assemble the team like effect that way each jump has no choice but to bring along all tpable pets -
Quote:you want to stack your defense if your set gives you positional defense(Ex. SR) that's what you want to chase in bonuses. If your set gives you typed defense (ex En. Au.) chase typed defense bonuses.Let me start off by saying that I have been playing CoX for almost four years now, but I'm pretty new to the forum. That said, the concept of typed defenses and positional defenses was recently introduced to me. I play a lot of melee toons, but I used to grab whatever set bonuses I could find, not really focusing on what I should definitely take (because I didn't know any better). Now that I know, however, I would like to be able to slot my toons more efficiently and make my newer ones better than the old ones.
So I have one simple question: what melee sets should be slotted for typed defense, and what sets should be slotted for positional defense? -
how effective is the cataphract in terms of aoe?

Quote:I agree with thisSo your solution to the problem of a character progression system based around having cookie-cutter characters who all look the same is to support a system that gives value to random objects, thus resulting in cookie-cutter costumes that all look the same? The mere fact that you'd mention using the Nictus shield on two different character is evidence enough for this, partly because I actually hate how the thing looks, and partly because you're supporting costumes that don't so much look "good" but rather look "exclusive."
Personally, I find that to be the very antithesis of everything the City of Heroes character editor stands for. The editor, as I see it, is a tool for creative expression. It doesn't reward exclusivity, it rewards artistic skill. Yes, a new player just logging into the game may see a Bright Nova or a Nictus Shield and be impressed, but that new player would be equally impressed, if not much more so, by a great, well-made costume even if it comprised entirely of stock parts. Because it's not the parts that make the costume, it's the skill of the maker behind the wheel.
Take one look at the "Best Costume Designs" thread and note what people there praise - not the Vanguard/Rularuu/Ascendant encrusted costumes (not frequently, anyway), but all too often the simpler Tights+Patterns designs, the more iconic creations, and often the purely bizarre oddities we come up with. That, to me, is how the system should work - give people as wide a creative toolkit as possible and then grade their performance, not their entitlement.
Achievements in the game will not give you a "better" costume, because what is "good" is entirely subjective. They may give you more options, but as is the case with capes, those options aren't always useful for every design. At the end of the day, what matters is what you do with said options, not which options you have. I sincerely hope that with the Freedom move, I'll have the option of voting with my wallet and broadening my creative toolkit AT CREATION. -

Quote:What does the bolded part have to do with anything? Is that related to the speed at which one gets through mobs? How is that relevant? Isn't this thread's purpose an examination of the solo path?Hey Bill, how many purple recipes did you get during all of those missions?
Statistically speaking, it's highly likely it was zero. As long as we're building straw men to apply to dumb decisions such as, "I'm never going to run a trial or task force!", then keep running missions until you get two or three purple recipes, then calculate how long it will take someone, supposing they never want to use the market, to get a complete set for a power. Don't forget that due to the nature of random drops, getting that last specific purple is going to be a mother of a wait.
What's that? It would take years? Wow, that's outRAGEous! What were the devs thinking? Obviously, they want us all to do nothing but sit around playing with the market all day! Or maybe running "tests" and making unreasonable demands based on the idiotic assumption that one will literally never team up is a meaningless waste of time--indeed, the height of arrogance for demanding stuff based on something nobody does in reality, a play style you insist on for the singular purpose of pushing an agenda and making things easier.
Thanks for trying, though. Good luck with your next strawman I'm sure you're working on as I type. -
I went with two zephs to stack with my 3 glads for 11 mag KB protection Wish i idn't need to give that up for the slow res

Is it worthwhile from a purely numbers perspective?

Quote:aye carumba! Using shard to thread conversion wow that must have been so many shardsI will agree the conversion rates are pretty bad. But taking that into consideration, my Fire / Psi dom has never touhed a trial and yet she is already unlocked all her slots and have abilities slotted in them.
I have the following:
Pyronic @tier 3
Interface @tier 2
Destiny @tier 3
Lore - not slotted yet, I was waiting for the new pets we got yesterday
I use my dom for farming and playing normal content a lot. So I took my shards and converted them to threads, and again I wasn't happy with the conversions but I still did them and it worked out fine for me. So it can be done, regardless of how much we dislike the conversions. But the length of time it took me was a little longer than my others that did do the raid content, but not astronomically longer. -
Quote:If they have to make such a set I would want a mix of 1 handed and 2 handed animations.By contrast, here's a large weapon handled well. Sure, it mixes a lot of one-handed attacks with the two-handed ones, but the swordplay is smooth, fast and flows from one attack to the next, while at the same time the visual effects impart a sense of power and force of impact.

Did this raid on a pug last night easily my least favorite. AM would frequently aggro on my henchmen causing them to retaliate, breaking any attempts at effective keyes strategy which meant i either had to give up my dps and survivability by putting them into passive which made them fodder for the other npcs or releasing them. Only worth it for the emp merit i needed to get the glad def proc, don't think I'll ever do it again

Quote:what's the value of seeing what incarante components your other characters need? It's not like we can trade them now or can we?No, you have to manually enter the info for the time being.
DarkGob: Not exactly. The game won't tell you the quickest route to your Very Rare based on whatever you may already have obtained. It won't tell you the components your other characters need. It won't remind you what abilities you want on a given character. It won't allow you to store your Incarnate Components in separate tabs to show that you have already designated them for use in that specific Incarnate slot. Saying that the game "already does it" is kinda like declining a car because your bicycle can already get you from New York to Florida. You can definitely get around it, but the point of the program is not to make your task possible, but to make it easier, much like Mids'. -
Quote:I like the titanic weapon models, I do not like the idea of a whole set worth of dev time being devoted to creating that set and I don't like that those models will most likely be exclusive to that set. I've never cared for the Siegfried/Nightmare I'm struggling to use my weapon dynamic and it seems that's where they want to go here
*thumbs down unless they give all the other sword sets(even db) access to those modelsQuote:Do you want me drooling on my keyboard? Because that's what Dual Blade Buster Swords would have me doing!
