Well, okay not quite, but the point I'm trying to make is that I'm pretty sure if you see Statesman, you'll know he's a super hero.
Good point... though in art like the NCSoft promo with GW, Aion, and States back to back, it just feels like he is very... tacky next to other game mascots. But that's just a vibe I get from it, and I have no idea if others would react the same way. That's why I brought up the visually interesting heroes, though I can definitely understand why a generic hero could be considered an advantage.
  2. Yes... I have to say that Nemesis is great. Maybe it's just that I have a bias for Steampunk, but he's definitely genre-appropriate and fills his role nicely. The business about his being behind or not behind every plot, and doing totally ridiculous things with steam, is campy fun, with great style. It's essentially everything that is fun about the superhero universe concept.
  3. I'm pleased with the consensus here so far. I actually edited some of my post to avoid getting too into it and lobbying, but you guys went and said it. :P This Recluse is not just insulting to the customers, but a mind boggler, as I can't imagine how his role was ever considered to be a good idea by anybody involved.

For States, it is not such a big deal. His 'ooh I had to invent a restricted origin to explain my being so strong' schtick is kind of pathetic, but it doesn't hamper the game like Recluse does, other than his use in promotions. They ought to consider using other heroes to promote, since States kind of screams 'generic' or 'Cap wannabe.' It doesn't make a case to potential customers that they can create their own ideas. Some better promotional heroes would be BABs, Posi, Psyche, Mako, Maelstrom, GW, WW, or Synapse.

It's only my opinion, but what I do not think motivated them to do this was real concern about the health of the markets. Instead, what WW says motivated it was a recognition of the on-going maintenance and development of code to "artificially" separate the markets. The escrow system, checks on what you could and couldn't trade, etc. were all creations they could just dump if they merged the markets. The idea that we get a stronger supply/demand pool seems to be a nice side effect didn't even make honorable mention - greater freedom of RP was the 2nd runner up.

But numerous posters, including quite a few who I rarely saw speak up on market matters, had posted in response to earlier GR market info releases, and many of them said they thought it was crazy to invent these new barriers, systems, and potentially a new currency. It seemed like an awful lot of work and complexity to maintain segregation. (Of course it helps to think that a merger would be a better situation than segregation with no other changes.) On that part, the devs do seem to have agreed.
Include with that having to add a 3rd praetorian market, those cross teaming with no way to access a market, etc. It was not only awkward and absurd but would have made GR's titular feature annoying to use.
  5. Absolutely Recluse should be largely ignored if not killed off. Either way, that story pretty much is done as of the patron arcs, so continuation would not involve him anyway. Future villain arcs should be more like the excellent i17 arcs, more self-focused without loyalty assumptions.

As for Paragon, it makes sense that the story went to Praetoria with GR coming up, but if the slowly approaching storm plays any role in coming issues, it will probably be in primal earth.
  6. Magic has the best costumes, followed by cyborg. The best powers are ninja run (convenience) and secondary mutation (power). Sci has the least of the costumes (about half of them are masks so they are mutually exclusive, and the rest don't accept patterns), and no true power, but a feature (sci needs more IMO).

Not necessarily. Is there really any point to making a new AT just for melee? While I support such a suggestion, ATs might be more streamlined if such an expansion was simply done through existing ATs. It's essentially the same role. Defenders and corrs are similar enough. Do we need 6 different versions of them?

Would you rather have a billion ATs, or just more options with existing ATs? Add dominator assault sets and the combinations get extreme.

  10. But do any of those apply to states in the US sense?

They were probably called states rather than provinces or whatever because there was supposed to be relative autonomy, like a group of nations, and one of the debates of the time was just how federalist they should be.

That's been possible since Windows 3.1 or even before that. Tile vertically?

Add "it's not fair" to any of those.

Alternately... relax, enjoy, good luck, congrats if you get it, oh well if you don't. I know which approach I'm taking.
20 dollar bill principle applies. Some people will complain about anything.

    However, as I suggested before:

Perhaps there should be a topic for each code, and they randomly pick from everybody who posts there in 10 minutes. To involve facebook and twitter, ink to the topics there.
Somebody might complain that it's 'playing favorites' but they'd be so obviously wrong that there would be nobody listening to them. It's probably the technique that will generate the least of such, and the most fairness.

That would be more fair, but it would also mean no community participation.

That makes sense. But I guess there's no point to trying.
  15. Why are they pics instead of text? Slow typers need copy and paste to compete.

It's weird that they did it this way since it was text in previous contests. This had to be a conscious decision but I can't imagine why.
  16. It's been a while since I read this contest so I was trying to think of where there might be giant bubbles.

Thank you for that great post. Maybe it will convince more people that it actually does work that way.
  18. I'm pretty good at catching these while they are still codes... for EU.

Indeed. It is a way to make constant farming less important to those who might not do it if prices weren't so high (and don't understand how marketeering works).
  20. Since when was he specific to RP?

He's more like the spokesperson for self-righteous, yet nonsensical, moral judgment of exploiters, I mean those whose tastes are different than his.

    Market Merger

Which will probably make them much less farmable.

I assure you that the near unanimous marketeer support for a merge is altruistic. Well, sort of. While it will be much harder to do some types of marketeering, there will also be more things to do with that cash.

Coming to such realization is just a sign of TRUE EBIL. Even if you lose you win! MWAHAHAHAHA.
