As Arcanaville said, you're probably taking this too literally. The way I always took it, the "fire" that Prometheus gave man was more than just some burning embers. It was a "spark of the divine," what gave humanity intelligence and separated man from beast.

In the CoH universe, this can be further extrapolated to say that Prometheus' gift is the reason we can be more than normal mortals. Prometheus' flames, as shown in the Mortimer Kal SF, has connections to the Well of the Furies and Incarnate potential. It could very well be that he established our very first link to the Well.

(Of course, there are a lot of people who haaaate the idea that "all super powers originate from the Well," because phrasing can make it sound like everything boils down to Magic in the end. It all depends on your personal ability to separate the ideas of "divinity" and "magic" in your own mind. Some people can, some people can't... but no one is wrong, as it's all a matter of opinion.)

Dude, why would we NOT support you guys?

I can understand that MMOs don't last forever, and that CoH will shut down eventually... but this is crazy premature. Issue 24 is insanely promising, bringing closure to the last of the launch complaints and with crazy Blaster buffs. Heck, I hate playing ranged damage characters, and I was itching to try out a Blaster with all the changes you guys made. Just, y'know... after I kicked a bunch of *** redside with my planned TW/Bio Armor Brute.

You've got our swords, our axes, our bows, and even access to a great number of our wallets to some degree. We want you to keep going. We want to see what's next. And then we want you to go some more. To the next level. TO THE MOON.

... Sorry, that got a little weird there. I haven't been getting much sleep lately (and I imagine many of the players and developers which make up this community can empathize).

May this be the first of many FPARNs to come.

Seriously, at the very least, use her as a contractor. There are a few of us out here who can match her passion for the game, but virtually none with her talents.

I found it a while back. I think I've had a total of 4 people on there at some point, but taken all but one back out. I was tempted--sometimes daily--to put GG in there, but I never did.

(In the interest of disclosure, Venture was the first one I put on ignore, then took him back out that same day... I just started avoiding his MA review threads as a whole instead.)

    Bravo, sir. Bravo.

This tool sounds amazing, and I'm really looking forward to using it.

I can already see a potential exploit, though--that is, filling up your inventory with purples and the like, taking a snapshot of that character, and then transferring everything over to another character to snap it again.

But really, at this point, that's a minimal worry compared to the other mountains we need to climb.

EDIT: I see that Guy already addressed that, in much the same way I did -- there are bigger fish to fry.

They were crazy appreciated. And I realize how much business professionals hate when their employees do it, but it was great that your posts were always so candid. You always knew where good ol' BABs stood in a debate.

Trouble or no, I do hope that's a habit you kept when you moved on to Cryptic.

I'm accessing it right now. No idea what's causing the disconnect on your end (or enabling connection on mine if I'm in the minority).

I checked it both on the character select screen and after loading a character. Also, I tried on Victory--not that should mean anything, but who knows if a connection from your server to the market got borked? :/

  20. It's Tuesday, and my heart is broken.

Thank you to everyone who's been using this thread for Paragon Market information, and an extra big thank you to all who have made comments, suggestions and error corrections over the last year. I am truly grateful that I was able to serve the fantastic community of City of Heroes, even in this small sense.

I remember when the switch to CoH Freedom was first announced last summer. I remember being shocked and outraged at the very idea of CoH becoming a "Free 2 Play" game. But as that shock wore off and I re-read Positron's message again (and again... and again...), I realized that Freedom was actually a tremendous opportunity for both the players and the developers to enjoy new content and experiences. I let go of my trepidation and never looked back. I believed--I STILL believe--in City of Heroes: Freedom.

As some of you may remember, I practically became an activist for the changeover. I poured over every bit of info I could find, memorizing details and repeating them in every thread that had confused questions and negative emotions. I participated in every Freedom Friday on Facebook from the initial one all the way until Freedom's launch, and even a few beyond; I wanted to make sure that the "easy" questions were taken care of, so that the community reps could focus on the tougher ones.

I remember coming up with a brief list that showed how many character slots a Premium player would have after the switch to Freedom, and that Positron liked it so much that he copied it for an official post. (Vindication! ) Not only that, but he remembered me when I met him at Comic Con a few weeks later. (I don't think I'll ever forget the looks that he and Zwill gave me when they realized that my superhero name was my actual name, Chad Gulzow, with "-Man" tacked on the end.)

As Freedom neared release and I received a closed beta invite (believe it or not, I was usually either in the last or second to last wave of beta invites, and on several issues I was never invited at all), a discussion between Snow Globe, Zombie Man and myself led to the first Paragon Market spreadsheet, which still exists out there; someone posted a link to it a few months ago in this very thread. I don't really know how to describe how I felt then--I was working with Snow Globe and Zombie Man, two of the biggest names in the CoH community, on a community project! If I recall correctly--and no offense if I get any of this wrong, guys--Snow Globe did most of the work on the original spreadsheet, including all the data manipulation and adding a real-time Paragon-Points-to-Euro/GBP calculator (which was changed to the static numbers Paragon chose to use for the live version of the spreadsheet in this thread), and Zombie Man and I filled in the majority of the data, and I did most of the formatting (arranging columns, setting up borders, etc).

With the live release, a lot of the pricing info had been changed and things had been reorganized a bit, so we decided to start a new spreadsheet and just leave up the old one for reference. I kind of took charge at that point and did nearly everything for the current version--most of the data, the formatting, setting up the sale and new release tabs, this thread--but I still made sure that Snow Globe and Zombie Man had full access to the spreadsheet. I never really discussed it with them, but I hope there were no negative feelings... I just figured they were both already busy with other community projects, and that any monkey on a typewriter could copy an item listing from the game into a spreadsheet, so why should they need to bother with it?

But thank you, Snow Globe and Zombie Man, for all the work you put into the original version of the spreadsheet, and for everything else you do and have done for the community. *round of applause*

Before I wrap up, I also want to give a shout out to my friend Roderick, who has both been active in educating people about the switch to Freedom and in keeping up with the releases on the Paragon Market. He's been posting the information on a Facebook board we're both active on, and whenever I've had to work on a Tuesday morning, he's been an incredibly reliable source of information that has made my updates in this thread a lot easier.

So again, thank you everyone for just being here to read this. If by some miracle we earn a reprieve from City of Heroes' death sentence, I will jump right back onto this spreadsheet and continue updating it. It has been an honor to serve this community.

Do you actually have to complete it 50/100 times, or do you just have to have 50/100+ SG members on successful runs?

Can you just get people to join your SG temporarily to get massive amounts of credit on the badge and do it all in just a couple runs? I know some of the SG badges work like that, but don't know if the CoP does...

Anyway, I'm absolutely down for a couple runs. Probably bringing Monkey (Staff/Stone Brute), as I've got no problem using him to pad your SG.

Second, everyone is on board now, because doom is approaching - if NCSoft had said, prior to any of this happening, that they were raising the sub to $19.99, the forums would have exploded.
    Double truth.

As for $20/mo sub fees, I would definitely pay an extra $5 on my primary account, but my secondary account has already been down since June for monetary reasons. (I was planning to renew as soon as I got a full time job again, though.)
