Much of what I would like to comment on, I cannot for a variety of reasons. That means most of my posts are relegated to things I can comment on without stepping on the toes of marketing or potentially saying something that is incorrect.

I know there is some good info being released sooner, rather than later, but what it is and when, I can't say.

    We do aim to please!

EDIT: REmoved line the showed I am an idiot who thought he was posting in a different thread.

By the time GR hits live... I'll more then likely have... 35 LvL 50 toons. (I'm at about 33 now with 2 over 35 and one just about to hit 30... so maybe 36 even...)

How the heck am i going to decide who should go first?! And.. if it's really involved... who gets neglected and who gets the special treatment... ??

I have over 25 different heros and 10 or more villians.. all of whom i pretty much enjoy playing and like there concepts. If i hadent, they would have been scrapped long before lvl 50...

Infact, this whole "end game" concept has had me scrap my plans for any NEW alts. Once i finish the 3 i currently have over lvl 25, I'm not starting any new ones till i know more about what's going to happen. Anyone under 25 gets there costumes saved and deleted tonight. (just incase i want to remake them in GR...) It's been a slow friday for me here at work.. i've had too much time to think on this topic... LOL.

Anyone else in the same boat?
You've got some tough decisions ahead of you. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the new stuff enough to make those decisions worth it to you. That is our goal, at least.

Ok, maybe not, but I thought it was funny. Grats once again to everyone involved!

You are correct. When you entered an event, you were teleported into this room to wait for the event to start. Ultimately, we decided it was an unnecessary step, which, unfortunately, obviated the use of this rather cool room.

Instead of Speed Boost, have your friendly Kineticist cast Inertial Reduction instead. I find that makes a bigger difference than Speed Boost. Combat Jumping is the single best power you can have for this, of course. The Ninja Run power ought to be pretty handy for this, too, though I've not specifically tested it.

Is this in fact true? and if true, is it a bug? It would appear that the shorter period of Provoke and its clones was carried over to these sets when they were ported to Tankers.

Checking on the status of Electric Melee next time I am on.
Looks like a bug to me. I'll prod someone and get it fixed.

EDIT: It looks like the sets were using the Scrapper/Brute values instead of the Tanker values. Effected sets are Dark Melee, Dual Blades and Electric Melee.

Rand, to my understanding, essentially stated that "Selfishness is a virtue." In her view, a person always acts out of self-interest; there is no such thing as altruism. The enlightened person is aware of this, acknowledges it, and proceeds to act in such a way to maximize their own benefit, which includes minimizing 'costs.' Acting outside of normal socially accepted bounds is permissible under such a thought system, if the subjective benefit outweighs the subjective costs.

This is frequently misunderstood, however. It does not say that you are allowed to run roughshod over others freely; it simply says that you can if the benefit outweighs the costs. A suitably powerful, rich and connected person can do things that an average person cannot, because they have the wherewithal to ignore the outcry of those below them -- the cost is not high enough to consider. In other words, the subjective repercussions of ones actions determine their legitimacy.

As a philosophy, that's pretty dark, though it goes a long way toward describing the corporate mindset.

In real terms, this is semi-sociopathic behavior on the part of the person being discussed in the OP (and, to some degree, PK's behavior.) Being a bully and seeking to ruin other peoples entertainment for your own pleasure is not excusable behavior to most people. It shows a significant lack of empathy, at the very least. The argument that "it's just a game, don't take it so seriously" is used frequently by those who engage in this behavior and they are correct, it is just a game and it is one that has rules, both written and unwritten. As a game, certain behavior is expected -- players must play according to the written rules, and, in the cases where a rule does not cover a given aspect, the players should play according to mutually agreed upon rules. In a face to face game, a player who chooses to break those unwritten rules is likely to find himself not to be invited to return to the game. In an MMO, such isn't really possible. In such cases, reporting the player for harassment should be used if asking them to stop does not.

The GMs may or may not respond in a timely manner, and may or may not do anything about it. This is what allows people who behave like this feel they can get away with it -- the odds of there being any repercussions to their actions are slim.

To give some examples, and this is in no way, shape or form saying the degree of this form of behavior is equivalent, the same thought process that leads to people harassing others in game is the same as that which leads to gay bashing or race attacks. The target of the harassment is weak, cannot do anything about it and deserves to be mocked, made fun of, attacked or whatever because *they* are not *us.* I'm not sure if it was this thread or another one where someone posted the Mel Brooks quote "Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer and die." This idea is what he was talking about -- it's ok to laugh at something that isn't directed at "us" with "us" being whatever group you associate with yourself, be it your family, your friends, your race or just, "everyone but those damned RPers!"

Anyway, this post is far too long already, and I'm sure I'm going to get grief for it. I'm ok with that; I'm pretty sure the benefit outweighs the cost.

EDIT: BTW, if people are cybering in local chat, report them. This is a family game and that is inappropriate, too.

    Make it happen devs.
Shield Charge was supposed to be something like this. Unfortunately, our engine did not like it in the least, which is why it was turned into a teleport. In other words, we *can't* do it, currently. Sorry!

To add to that; I've had a couple reports of this over the last few months, and QA has not been able to replicate it internally. So, more info is definitely needed to get this addressed.

    Worst Mobs Ever.

    I love this thread.

A lot of times, it begins to feel like you guys just blow through everything without really feeling any challenge, so it is nice to see threads that remind us that, yes, there *are* things in the game that are difficult, or at least problematic. We walk a very fine line: If we make enemies too weak, then you guys risk becoming bored by them. If we make them too strong, then you avoid them and their content is left unused.

And, lord knows, I despise running into Spectral Demon Lords most of the time, myself.

1 per enemy effected. So, Imps counted, but PA did not, since they are essentially perma-phased.
  17. I'll give you a bit of background on it.

The old Hami event had problems, we all knew that. Most of us didn't participate in Hami raids, though, so we only knew about it via bug reports, datamining and second hand observation. One day, I wandered into Pohsyb's office while he was on one of these events. I talked with him and watched for half an hour, all the while he floated up near the zone ceiling dropping Phantom Army down onto Hami, along side 2 or 3 other Illusion controllers. That was his job...it was boring.

After that, I started paying more attention to the Hami event and how it was run and I realized the entire event was like that -- aberrant playstyle atop aberrant playstyle. I decided that, at some point, we should really do something about it.

Nothing happened, though. I never got a clear idea of what *should* be done to improve it, and it sort of languished in that state...until BABs was hired.

He was a veteran Hami-raider, and had definite ideas of how to make a better raid. He campaigned for production to put time in the schedule to revise the event, and eventually got it. Then he, myself, Ghost Falcon and a few others (I don't actually recall who all was involved at the time, Posi may have been, Pohsyb, too, maybe even geko...but I don't remember) sat down in a series of meetings and hashed out BABs design. The end result was the new event.

I can certainly understand the feelings of the folks who miss the social aspect of the old raid. It's similar to me missing the social aspect of EQ's camp a spot gameplay. It wasn't fun, but it gave you plenty of time to meet new people and to socialize, and in many ways, that's what these games are for.

Some of the folks here have been doing "Pavel's Pushup Program" here at the office, so we had some good first hand animation reference material.
  19. Great feedback, MOO. I'll forward this to the guys who responsible so they can pick it apart for useful bits.
  20. IMPORTANT NOTE

The PvE speed and Jump Height values are correct. However, at this time, the PvP values are NOT correct. They are set equal to Super Jump's values while in Arenas or PvP zones.

This will be corrected in a future patch.

Ninja Run (I wanted to call if Wuxia, but was overruled...) is better than sprint by a pretty good margin. It's better than Combat Jumping, in terms of speed, as well.
