Do Range enhancements in Wormhole affect the range you can fire it off, the distance you can chuck people or both?
Hopefully its the first one, I'm hoping I can up it to give me more scope to be in cover when I fire it off. -
SAR, the most recent comic with Ghost Widow and iPod mans PS3 queue in IP is genius!!
My new favourite so far!

A lot of boys would say this is all that she needs

The meaningful word in that statement is Boys. Once they get out of puberty they'll grow out of it.
GW looks like Marilon Manson cross-dressing in some spare rubber gear left over from the Catwoman movie (or Farscape maybe) -
I've gotten Aid Other on my Kin/Elec for dealing with melee-shy types like Blasters and (especially) Squidies.
Aid Self I've never needed, I've got the speed to get close to someone and heal myself. -
Meh, I've still no team. Gonna give it a miss I reckon.

I knew there was a reason I kept from posting.... I cant believe how far people are willing to go just to say they've been here longer, which doesnt necessarily mean that they know more......
I think ill go back to enjoying the game and steer clear from areas such as this. I cant believe what Im reading.
.....Thanks for all the fish!! They definately knew better :-)
[/ QUOTE ]
Why dont you do better than that and come out with numbers, talk game dynamics, come up with something?
[/ QUOTE ]
Numbers/statistics are better than playing and enjoying the game as is?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, but the Devs' paradoxical game design means that it's very easy to make a complete [censored] of a character that is so unplayable that it's no fun at all to level. They won't provide any hard figures - or even accurate power descriptions and consistant damage "amounts" - but do things like ED that make it all too simple for uninformed players to do horribly wasteful things (both in terms of slots and inf) like 6-slotting powers for the same thing.
Ultimately, if you're having fun and your team is having fun that the numbers don't matter and neither does your playstyle. However, there comes a point where both of those *do* make a difference - when you start getting your team killed because you're playing your character in a reckless manner or your contribution to the team is non-existant because of a dreadful build.
[/ QUOTE ]
Great point. Since the data isn't available in game we have to be slightly obsessed with the numbers. Otherwise you have people slotting Combat Jumping & Hover for defense, Flash arrow for ToHit debuffs and the like.
If you don't want to use them you don't have to but for mechanics junkies like me I enjoy looking at the figures & the way they are used ingame. -
Bots/Dark is pretty hard to rationalise too other than to say "I picked the strongest combo"
But really its the stupid designers fault for allowing one of the MM powersets to be so overpowered. Pretty unforgivable given how much time & effort they'd spend nerfing the bad choices they'd made before (Controller pets & aoe holds, tanker defenses, pre-ED 6 slotting) and the amount of time & experience they had with Dark Miasma on the live servers. -

Sonic/TA
[/ QUOTE ]
You do know that you can't select two Buff/DeBuff sets, right?
But Sonic/Archery might be a rare combo.
[/ QUOTE ]
TA/Sonic Blast is probably what he meant. Evil resistance debuffage & good single target damage (which is good for soloing). And Sonics will fire up the oil slick.
I've found Kinetics/Elec very slow to solo. Pretty safe, the heal is so powerful. But it takes ages to defeat things, especially pre-32. -

That'll be it then Carni - the hot-linking checks the referrer against a list which I've specified (these forums being one of them) that are allowed to refer to the images on the domain.
If the referrer isn't listed (or as in your case, blank or blocked) then it'll deny the loading of any jpg images.
FF extensions like Refspoof would do this too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Had the same thing with web apps I've written myself, assumed they'd have referrers which I could use for "Back" links. Of course one of our clients customer companies blocked the Referer header in requests and I had to redo the bloomin things. Hence why mine is off all the time now. -
[ QUOTE ]
Tis odd Carni, seems to be loading ok for me atm.
It may well be the hot-linking protection I had to enable on the domain, as I was finding the comics hot-linked on forums far and wide (2 weeks into the month and I've burned through 3Gb/15Gb of bandwidth already!), so I had to find some way of cutting that out.
I'll maybe have to look into that further...
Edit: Try it now Carni, I've tweaked it a wee bit, see if that helps?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, Thats it. Nice to see Mr T pop up all of a sudden
I have my "Referer" switched off on my browsers. Maybe that triggered something on the site. -
Hi Sar, the images don't seem to be loading for me either.
I've checked in Firefox & Opera (I don't use IE).
When I click properties on the empty box where the cartoon should be I get an address of http://fury101.the-yarn.net/
with no filename specified. -
Hmmm. Only got two defenders, a Kin/Elec & a lowbie Dark/Sonics. But I've also played Rad, Trick Arrow & Storm with controllers.
Ranking the 5 sets in terms of fun I have to say Rad goes bottom for me. Great set, ticks all the boxes, but I find it pretty boring to play.
As a Defender set I don't know if I'd enjoy TA as much as I am currently. The extra control it provides is great but as a TA Defender I think I'd feel like a Controller-lite until the 20s.
Kinetics comes next simply due to the time you spend buffing and Siphon Speed & low framerates is really annoying. That said I don't have Fulcrum Shift on this char and Kinetics is one of my fave types to team with.
Storm next. Great fun altogether. Nothing like seeing a bunch of mobs in a dead-end tunnel and just trashing them with Tornado, Hurricane Freezing Rain Lightning Storm and Snow Storm. My only issue with Storm is the set I chose to partner it (Illusion). Its a powerful combo but I can imagine the fun a Grav/Storm or a Storm/Dark would have.
Dark is my fav. My i8 char is Dark/Sonics & I've a Necro/Dark MM too. I love the control it gives you as well as the safety it provides. And Howling Twilight and Frowning of a Lifetime (Fearsome Stare) are two of my fav animations in the game. -
Mummy, you're a genius*. The line art is fantastic and I love the coloured version. Can't wait to see what springs up from all of this!
The Cardboard City is wonderful too. Hope you did a Godzilla on it when you were done
*an insane genius but a genius nonetheless -
I've Hotfeet 3 slotted I think. 2 dmg & 1 End Red AFAIK. I needed the slots elsewhere and this was effective enough for me.
I was Rad though so AM saved my End a fair bit. I also ate a lot of blues pre Stamina.
Fire cages is an expensive attack so I only fire that the once to get Containment rolling.
Go destroy the Hollows spawns. Pick on mass groups of Blue guys and watch the XP roll in. -

The I7 one was exactly the one I meant, yeah - I thought that was the GDC (and was obviously wrong) - I didn't realise there had been another defence change around I5 as well because I wasn't playing back then (I only started playing CoH about 6 weeks before CoV was launched). Sorry for the confusion.
But anyway I just remember Castle on US forums saying that ToHit Debuffs were going to get an unintended nerf because of the schedule changes of the ToHitDebuff enhancements. And sure enough I noticed the nerf on both my /dark MM's Darkest Night (which he wasn't so dependent on) and my /rad corruptor's Radiation Infection (which he was utterly and completely dependent on for his safety when solo and in small teams).
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, I came from the other side, could only recall the i5 "lets neuter the tanks" change (all defense powers halved in effectiveness!!), forgot the i7 scaling change.
Before the tohit debuff change RI had around a 50% accuracy debuff fully slotted (100% bonus to 25%). Now its 40% (60% bonus to 25%). -

Lift slotted x 3 for knockback is SO funny!

Got Wormhole last night myself
Grav mightn't be the strongest control set but its soooo damn entertaining sweeping up a bunch of mobs and dumping them over a cliff or firing them into the sky.
/bind lctrl+lbutton "powexec_name Wormhole"
is the bind I've set for it. Basically tab onto an enemy, hold left control and click a location on the screen and it'll wormhole them there.
I'll also be binding Oil Slick & Disruption Arrow the same way :
/bind lalt+lctrl "powexec_name Disruption Arrow"
/bind lshift+lctrl "powexec_name Oil Slick Arrow"
Theres the "target oil slick barrel" bind too but I can't find that in the Forums at the moment. So if anyone can post it here too for completeness that'd be great. I'm tech so Taser will be the igniting tool. -
More thread-o-mancy on my part. Soz, was answering a question on Grav/Sonics and decided my blurb on Grav/TA was better here :
I'm level 25 now. Only things I changed from the build towards above were I swapped Stamina & Acid Arrow around. And I didn't need to immediately 3 slot Stamina, so I spent the slots elsewhere at 23 and added one slot at 25.
I did get Poison Arrow instead of Crushing Field at 24 to test it, as the Vet Respecs were coming anyway. I'll be dropping it. Sleep is just too useless a control power in any sort of team. I've found it a nice panic button at times but one AOE and they just wake back up. If it was a Fear effect instead of Sleep it might be worthwhile but currently I find it mostly useless, especially since I'm getting Wormhole at 26.
The disadvantages of these sets are no defenses (no shields/auras & no accuracy debuffs) and no self-heal, the idea is to mez them from afar before they get into melee with you (so it'll work very well with the Sing). If something gets through they can hit very hard (currently Ancestors SS & Yellow Ink Mens NRG attacks are causing me all sorts of trouble).
In teams I've found my aggro "footprint" to be very low, I tend to flit between Lieuts & Bosses Acid Arrowing & locking them down before Propel+Crushing them to death. Glue Arrow & GDF give you good ranged AOE control for the minions. -
[ QUOTE ]
Thanks Carnifax, that's helpful - as she's only level 10, I might be tempted to make her /ta instead for soloing purposes. What are the really good / really rubbish TA powers?
[/ QUOTE ]
Did my usual of picking the brains of the folks here before creating him. Thread here -
Looks slightly like Dreams sister Death, in a really, really bad mood.

As far as I'm aware all those figure are unslotted, taken from NoFutures new site.
25% unslotted. 160% (fully slotted with +20% Tohit debuff SOs) of 25% is about 40%. Actually its a wee bit under since the max bonus is actually about 55% or so,
The change of ToHitsDebuffs from 33% to 20% happened way after the GDC changes too if I remember rightly. It was only this year sometime they took effect, just before i7 as they impacted my Fire/Rad. GDC happened at i5 didn't it? So I can't see how you had a Corrupter at the same time at all?
*Edit : Unless you mean the i7 Global Scaling Defense changes, which are a different thing to the GDC. -

Just the truth, nothing more
[/ QUOTE ]
That could be your motto!
Grav/TA is good fun, I've been playing one for the last few weeks. Lots more soloable than Sonics I reckon, a pure ranged controller.
Anyway, for Grav I don't think you really need all of Crush, Lift, Grav Distort & Propel. I found 3 of them was enough to keep me busy mostly and I think later in the game one of the four you have might become obsolete (lift or propel most likely). I took Propel cos it looks cool and the Contained damage is excellent.
Dimension Shift I avoided like the plague. Might be Ok solo but you should be fine Wormholing or GDFing em really. In teams its really, really annoying (and people never seem to spot the "Unaffected" messages).
Sonics I can't help with but a lot of its powers need teamies and as people are saying your pet won't be able to use the friendly debuff aura very well. -
Ta DC. Fearsome Stare with 2xAcc, 1xToHitDebuff, 2xRecharge and 1xFear is how I'm planning it. I'm not banking on every having HOs so that'll have to do.
*Sigh* I think I'll just hang around Atlas and panhandle people to give me their spare slots.
"Got any slots for a Dark/Sonics ex-leper"
(the ex-leper part is particularly cunning I feel. When they stop to hear my tale I hit them over the head with a cosh and they awaken 2 hours later minus a few Enhancement slots and maybe a kidney) -
Cheers for the advice folks. I'm still juggling slots here. Certainly going to 6 slot Fearsome Stare, DN & Twilight Grasp.
This toon is gonna be teamed with a Fire/Rad controller & a Archery blaster. So Firecages should stop em scurrying about out of Darkest Night range. Also helps me with my useless Accuracy.
Gotta face the face I just can't slot my attacks up fully. Will 5/6-Slot Shout and just slot the first two for accuracy and use them to debuff the Archers targets dmg resistance. So Screech > Shriek > Scream > Shout should mean a stunned enemy with a -80% dmg resist when the Shout hits (110 if Tar Patch is also down), gotta be more useful to the team than my pitiful damage.
Howling Twilight I've taken already. Gonna 3 slot it for recharge for the mez, its like a ranged, autohit Thunderclap at level 6. Minions only but as someone said I can stack with Screech. It also does a decent -runspeed & -recharge as well as a decent 30 second -recharge for AVs. Oh, and it also brings people back from the dead apparently.
I may drop Amplify altogther if I don't have room for it. The Accuracy Buff is handy though for a toon with no defense debuffs themself. Hmmmm.
I'll throw out an updated build later. Still no idea what epic to get really. -
[ QUOTE ]
Twilight Grasp, DN and Shadow Fall are all underslotted.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, I'm aware of that as I said in my post.
An alternative slotting structure would be appreciated. I don't want to gimp myself so I can't kill anything solo either. -
I might try and show up if I can, not sure what my Significant Others plans are this evening yet.
If someone else can certainly make it go ahead. I'll show up at Synapse at 19:30 if I can to see if you still need one more.
I can bring my Level 27 Kin/Elec defender or my Level 24 Grav/TA controller. -
After all the posts on Offenders & the debuffs of Sonics I've decided on my i8 alt for Faultline, a Dark/Sonics defender. Build is from my head & based on NoFuture stats. Feel free to post comments, changes or opinions.
The slotting is wonky as I've no Hero Editor so this is done by hand. Slots seem short on the ground with this build though, I could easily do with 8 more at level 40. If anyone has their own build or slottings feel free to post them.
This is a Team build, focusing on Dark debuffing and then helping out the real damage doers by lowering DmgResistance. I'd almost be tempted to move a Dmg slot from Scream into Shriek as a Recharge for stacking -DmgResists.

For Epics I'm thinking Power Mastery. Does the Power Boost affect my Accuracy debuffs?
Petrifying Gaze was omitted because I have the Single target stun at 35 (with the bonus of a DmgResist debuff in it) and it gave me 2 much needed slots getting TP Friend instead.
