Quote:Eh, I don't have any great interest in the whole "multiple build" thing, really. In my book it's just another irritating complication in what used to be a nicely simple game. Besides, I expect that'd be akin to doing a respec, and sitting around fooling with the power selection and slot assignment screens for 50 levels sounds like less fun than just building his robot double and starting over.If you haven't levelled up both your builds , you could always just start over w/ your secondary build .

Quote:Nothing brings a team together like that moment when everyone's making floor angels together, Nemesis and his guys are walking on our heads, and somebody says, "Me Grimlock need new strategy."I love a team that says stuff like: "Wow, that was fast... wonder if I can beat you back from the hospital."

Exactly. It'd just look like you had your sleeves tucked into your giant robot gloves, or cut off to accommodate them. Hellboy can wear a coat with sleeves. It's not fair.

Well, nothing except the other players. One gets tired of having one's "build quality" critiqued without solicitation by the people who think one should be as much of a slave to the numbers as they are. It's just annoying that it's become so much a part of the background hum of the game world.

I was pawing around in my big pile of old screenshots today, and this one came along and made me all nostalgic:
Man, that's from before badges. I feel so old. -
Quote:Eegh, nooo. I'd happily reset him to level 1, if, for instance, that were the tradeoff for reselecting his power sets (the classic "oh no a meteor - ... hey, why am I suddenly invulnerable but unable to blast?" scenario), but actually deleting him and starting over? I'd lose all his history. Badges, story arc souvenirs, time-sensitive stuff. That sort of thing has little gameplay impact, but it's important to me as a player. Call me sentimental. The solution to this specific problem? Delete your first level 50 and make him again on the same server as a level 1. At least that's what *I* did. Then again, many many people also say I'm insane, but that has little to do with my deletion...

That's probably because the costume designers felt that the tail "belts" clipped unacceptably with the robes. For similar reasons, you can't get the big Enforcer gloves with anything that has sleeves, which has made me sad on more than one occasion.

Quote:Hear, hear. I've been on some teams whose makeup would make minmaxers cringe (if they weren't too busy haranguing me about how UR DOIN IT RONG) and had an absolute blast (no pun intended). If nobody's hung up on DPS or XP/sec or not having enough control or WE NEED HEALOR, and just goes out to fight/commit crime? Your Gateway To Fun, step this way, no waiting. Even teamwipes are hilarious with the right teammates.Who needs well balanced? You can take ANY team full of characters and make the team work well. Teams don't need "balance".

Quote:One does wish they'd take the timer off that, so it could just be dropped, as with most of the game's other catastrophically misdesigned missions.Plus it would take the pain out of that horrible horrible mission where you have to hunt down 12 (?) captive mages being guarded by Malta in Oranbega. On a timer...

"Side Blind Zone Alert; Lane Departure Warning"
Bah. Just learn how to drive. -
Personally, I think there's already too much fiddly-*** math in this game nowadays. When I started playing it was one of the simplest, least stat-fiendy games out there; that's one of the reasons I started playing it (that and there was no crafting nor PvP - oops). You had your powers, you had Enhancements, and... that was it. One of the few things I really liked about Jack's management style was the dark glee he seemed to take in keeping the min-maxers in the dark as regards the actual numbers happening behind the curtain. That's all gone now, of course, and too bad too, but I see no benefit in making building a character even more like doing your taxes. If I wanted to play an MMO that was like doing my taxes, I'd play EVE Online.

The disparities of character sizes and the vagueness of the collision boxes have often led to amusing unintended screen presentations in melee. For instance, the Flurry/Shadow Maul/Sands of Mu animation, when applied by a reasonably-but-not-ridiculously short character to a biggish NPC (say a member of the Council Vortex Cor Leonis), becomes "one hundred furious punches to the gentleman's region", which is, to be fair, something all members of the Council deserve.

It's easily as heroic as joining Vanguard in the first place. I always feel vaguely dirty when I pass by one of those "EARTH FOR HUMANS! LET'S KEEP IT THAT WAY!" posters, knowing I went and joined such an obviously unsavory organization just for the sake of some expanded gameplay options and costume trinkets. Every hero has his price and I guess I know mine now.

Quote:Probably, but that's not really relevant to whether I think $10 constitutes a "micro" amount of money. I mean, you can get a Cadillac for a lot less money than a similarly-equipped Jaguar, but they're both bloody expensive compared to a can of Coke.Lol. I'm sure we could find people that can verify other MMO's have charged more than $10 for a similar service.

Not me, particularly. Besides, if you're looking for that kind of experience, it's already in the game. Invulnerability characters have a weakness to psionics, for instance, and there's that whole Kheldian/Quantum thing.

"Just get rid of the stupid defeat-all condition" is superior, but failing that, this would certainly work.

Quote:Well, I've already done the first part...Now you need to roll a Warshade and go around asking about how you get to Kings Row.
("Zazox Wazoxazole" is the absolute best name I've ever received spam from. I've known for years that if I had a Warshade, that had to be its name.)
