I had trouble understanding him in the prologue but not the trailer, although the prologue was a cam version and not official. I do hope they tweak Bale's voice to dial back the hoarseness, though.

Quote:Alien and Aliens took place on the same planet.Yeah that U shaped ship looks like the one with all the eggs in it from the 2nd movie. So it looks like a prequel to Aliens, yeah I know it would be the first Alien movie, but I am talking about when the marines went to go see what happened to the people on the planet, so I really don't know what you would call it if it takes place in between.
*EDIT*
Or rather, the planet they went to in Alien and the one they went to in Aliens was the same one. -
Holy **** if I was Durakken I'd be nervous about losing my Crown of Wrongness right about now.

Quote:Any merit that movie had was countered by being too damn similar to the first Donner film. If you watch that then Superman Returns, it's just unforgivable.I have to disagree!
Superman doing the Superman deeds was very redeeming to the movie imo.
Flying through the city, laser beaming all the glass, lifting the ship, lifting the island (even if it had all that kryptonite), saving the plane and shuttle, all that was VERY Superman and very entertaining.
Basically, Superman being Superman. -
You could say that Smallville suffered most of the time when it tried to get serious about the superhero transition, with the exception of the Johns episodes, because they wouldn't really commit to it, so their version getting serious was pretty halfassed.

It's been said by more than a few people that I have really high standards, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that movies in general suck today. There's always been good movies and crappy ones.

Quote:It isn't always attached to the ring in the DCAU either. My only familiarity with GL comes from animated shows...
Thinking about this question, I realized that anything the ring constructs is still attached to the ring via a strand of energy.
That might just be for the visual representation of the rings power, and in the comics he can create objects that aren't tethered to the ring, that I'm unsure about.
I'm sure somone knows the answer to that.
If it is always attached to the ring though...
Also, just an observation. From that panel with the popcorn, are we sure he manifested the popcorn and isn't just passing some real popcorn they had via the ring?
I believe in one episode of JLU, Green Lantern created a construct that bore a passing resemblance to himself and sent it off for the bad guys to chase. No tether.
And in the Brightest Day episode of Superman TAS, Kyle gives Sinestro his ring but it's just a construct that explodes on his hand. No tether. linkage -
Quote:It's more likely that Diana's son would have an upbringing closer to hers so he would already have a foundation of Greek fighting styles before she allowed him to have other instructors.See, that answer the question.
So Batman training WW's woman son, who would likely have the benefit of her phsyical attributes would be better of learning from Bats!
Batman would be at the top of their wishlist for teachers, but if he's still active at that point he may not have the time to dedicate to instructing him, so he'll probably get training sessions with the usual suspects of DCU fighting masters like Wildcat, Black Canary, and Richard Dragon. I wouldn't be surprised if the boy received instruction from Tim Drake or Dick Grayson, either, since he could benefit from a smaller age gap between himself and his instructors. -
Here's the scan. Sorry if the size is too big for some.

Quote:Actually, it was in the Revenge of the Green Lanterns trade of Johns' GL run, and Guy was being punished for telling Hal his mission into the Unknown Sectors was authorized and going with him. I remembered this while I was in the shower but I went to dinner with my family before I could post it.Actually there is a better precendent than that. In one of the comics Guy Gardner is being disaplined for a action he took while on a unautherized vacation, and is sent to help reinforce the barrier of GL's that keep the sun eater in check. While there he many not eat, sleep, communicate with others, or head the the restrooms. Sallek tells him that the ring will tend to all his physical needs for the duration of his punishment. Forget what trade paperback I read that in but there you go.
*EDIT*
Oh, and it wasn't to keep the sun-eater in check. It was Prime Duty, where dozens of GLs are assigned to watch over Superboy Prime as he's contained in a red sun-eater. -
The trailer doesn't really get me excited the way the Dark Knight Rises one did, but then again they have more time. Haven't read The Hobbit, so I'm a little worried about all how they'll juggle all the dwarves and other characters that are along for the ride.

Well if GL rings can synthesize breathable air and transmute matter I don't see why food constructs couldn't provide nutrition. And I think in that arc I mentioned above, Power Ring said it didn't have a taste but one of the other members of his team said it had an electrical pop to it.
-
During the Syndicate Rules arc of JLA, Power Ring, Green Lantern's doppleganger, created popcorn for his team and they ate it. It's the first example that comes to mind.

Quote:The kids around him tend to take an opposite approach personality-wise, though, and Batman pretty much encourages that. They have fun with the job and get to do some good at the same time.Batman is a role model in the sense of "Don't let yourself become this". Beyond that, his Wayne persona is a womanizing playboy who occasionally does good things with his money.
I know I wouldn't want my kid spending a significant amount of time around him lest they become just as much of a buzzkill as Buzz Killington aka Batman. -
Didn't care much for the first one. Seems like they shoot for Michael Bay type action but fall short. About the only thing that it's got going for it is the involvement of The Rock, and I wish he was in The Expendables 2 instead.
-
Quote:I disagree about Batman not being a good role model. He consistently produces some of the finest and most-respected heroes in the game. And they tend to take in his strengths while leaving his weaknesses. But would he have male influence? That's presuming his father was still in the picture. Granted, he'd potentially have all the guys in say, the Justice League as role models.
But let's be honest, Batman? Not that good of a role model. Guy Gardner? Again, not that good. Wally and/or Barry? Probably good. Supes would be the best that he could hope for, but then you have Lois wondering why Clark is spending all that time with some other woman's kid. Especially Diana's. -
I dunno about this. I see: more action + slashed budget = flop waiting to happen.

Quote:It might've been more fitting had they gone with the Central City or Keystone Rogues, but I suppose then they would've been glamorizing the villains and we wouldn't get to see the Robin "R."The "team" is supposed to be the fictional Gotham Rouges, which I presume is the Batman-universe counterpart to the Steelers (which is why they recruited 10 Steelers players). If you notice, the stands are actually not very full, and that is because they actually asked fans to sit in as extras instead of digitizing them.

It really seems like they're shooting for a God of War type story with this one, and the visuals make it a little more obvious. If they can bring the same kind of action across, they should at least get some positive reception for epic scale and action.

Quote:I don't think she is part of Bane's conspiracy, or if she is she doesn't know the real endgame.Besides that, I'm also worried about Catwoman. Her whispers to Wayne seem as if she is part of the greater conspiracy and I just never viewed her like that... More the loner, one perhaps out for herself but not out to take down society as we know it or anything. *shrug*
I think Selina's threat was aimed at Bruce Wayne and not Batman. It seems like Nolan's playing on all the class warfare talk that's going on right now with all of those people invading a wealthy home and ransacking the place. She may be hearing whispers of an uprising of some kind, but with all of the resources at his disposal and another honeypot in Marion Cotillard's character, I don't see her factoring into his plans. I'm thinking she'll be an enemy of Bruce Wayne at first but will become an ally. -
I am so psyched for this movie now. I avoided all the leaked photos so it was really satisfying to see these scenes as they were intended to be presented.
