Perhaps DC saw a backlash similar to this as acceptable since if folks are interested in picking up physical copies of these trades, they'll be more likely to head into their local comic book store, which increases the chance that they'll purchase new issues as well as old trades.

Aren't a lot of those titles classic DC stories that form the basis of why folks are complaining about the new direction DC is taking because it's not like those stories?

Quote:How will shrinking their selection be good business, though? Won't that just accelerate the acceptance of online shopping and e-book options? It's good business and a worthy policy for B&N to offer every possible format available for their merchandise. I support their decision to protest. With bookstores nationwide going the way of the Dodo, it's refreshing to see the stalwart forerunner maintain their position in the sand.

Never really cared for Barnes & Noble anyway. I always preferred Borders, but now that Borders is no more and B&N has absorbed some of their holdings, maybe they think they're in a better position to pull hissy fits like this.

Quote:It seemed to me like they were fixing this lately (pre-cluster **** reboot) since I recall Superman incorporating counters, kicks, and other fighting moves beyond the basic punches, but as for Superman being used to standing there and taking it, they've addressed this in the comics and even in JLU as Superman's reasoning being that he takes a beating because he knows he can and that keeps the baddie's attention on him instead of squishy teammates and bystanders.Someone else mentioned Superman and his invunerablity. Years and years ago he fought Lobo for the first time and Lobo kicked his butt, this was the Legion version of Lobo prior to his super overexposure, with Lobo trash talking him about never learning how to fight the whole time. Later they rectified this a bit with Superman being trained by Mongul of all people to fight but it still seems like a person with super speed might be able to dodge a punch from a super bad guy rather than just taking it on the chin.

Just curious, since this fall is going to be a huge season for games and all. Figured the discussions might help inject some more life into our beloved forums.
I recall a thread not too long ago discussing other games that lasted a relatively long time and was wondering if that rule was relaxed or repealed. -

Even though Amy Adams is an awesome redhead, I was hoping they'd go ahead and give her darker hair for this movie. -
Sadly, I get the sense that it's all being pushed by WB in an attempt to overhaul and streamline DC comics before they take a crack at a movie universe. It's unfortunate that they're establishing a foundation that doesn't ring true with the longtime readers that turned these characters into icons and if this is the tone and style they plan and going with for DC superhero movies from here on out, it's gonna blow up in all of their faces and essentially do to superhero films what was done to comics in the 90s.

I might check it out for the milftastic Connie Britton.
-
Unfortunately, they've expanded on that with extremis and the whole "futurist" angle to make him uber 24/7.

I'd say Iron Man relies on having the suit too much.
-
Nope, Shia Lebeouf will be Godzookie. Ben Affleck will be Mothra.

Hmm not bad, though the spikes around the eyes remind me a little too much of Doomsday. Any other info on this movie?

Looks like they're trying to create a stronger similarity between Superman's suit and Kyrptonian garb. I always liked how they did this in Birthright but I thought the designs in that arc were sleeker and bore a stronger connection; I might be too spoiled on the primary colors, though.

That's got to be the best/worst way of meeting chicks I've ever seen.

Molecule Man should probably be under Invincible too, right?

Nope, Beta Ray Bill was introduced during Walt Simonson's first Thor story. He's an alien who's been radically altered and enhanced to be the protector of his people. He also seems to be the influence for Allen the Alien from Invincible, if you're familiar with him.
-
Also, ironically enough, Invincible should be included in the invulnerable section. >.>
