Assuming that they are geared to PvP is silly at best.

Edit: Re-reading the artical... There was nothing in there at all that said the temp powers would be used only for base PvP encounters.

"Have you ever wished you could throw together some powerful instant buffs to prep for battle in your deadly lair? Now you can prepare for a fight with Empowerment Stations."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, when I read that initially I got concerned as well. I hope that they are not intended solely for base raids.

I honestly don't understand where all the PvP love from the devs comes from. The arenas were basically a flop. The PvP zones are cooler, but still really only appeal to a certain segment of the gaming population. Instant base raids are fun, but also limited to a certain segment of the population (those with CoV and belonging to groups wealthy enough for a raid-capable base). If the full-on IoP base raids are as many have speculated (i.e. destroyed stuff is lost and must be replaced) with relatively minor boosts granted by the IoP, it is unlikely that system will ever be widely used.

Bases should really be 80% geared to improving the game experience for the players. The teleporters are cool, but two beacons per is very restrictive. The reclaimation chambers are cool, but healing to 25% is very unappealing. Expensive plots, rooms, and items are all de-motivators once a player realizes how long it will take to get even marginal functionality from their bases.

I really like what I'm seeing coming for bases in I7. I just hope that there aren't a lot of limitations attached to these items. I never understood why we needed a separate workroom in which to craft. Why not just plunk down a work table anywhere in the base? My biggest hopes for bases in I7 are these (whether there is basis to hope for these or not):

1.) Plots: reduce the cost of the 8x12 plot by 50% or more.

2.) The new banners and tables look awesome. More stuff like this please!

3.) Thinner walls (dividers) so we can separate rooms into smaller sections without eating up all of the space with 1x1 block walls.

4.) Fix the crash boxes around placable items so that they actually match the edges of the items. This is especially true for everything in the "desks" menu and the base entry portal. The box around the portal is extremely oversized. Many of the desks are so screwy that you can't put them together. You could make some really cool tables if this were fixed.

5.) Empowerment stations not limited to room type. Empowerments are useful in PvE.

6.) Storage items not limited to room type.

7.) An overall reduction in prices for everything and/or elimination of rent and/or upgrade in prestige earning rate.

Sorry to ramble . I have this glimmer of hope that a dev will read this and take it to heart.

I would love it if there were an option to create a floor [acessed by elevator] in which each SG member had their own room.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I opened up a 9x9 recr room and used raised/lowered floor/ceilings, and steps, blue hanging files to create a little apartment complex... sure it's not totally enclosed, but it's enough to pretend. I've been told it's pretty impressive.... 9 separate "personal quarters" 4 of them for 2 or 3 people each, a kitchen, and a living room.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've done this for a few members of my small team. I am hoping to upgrade to the 8x12 plot (which is ridiculously priced) and add another teleporter room and a permanent workroom that will have more "apartments" in them. Does it add anything practical to the game? No. It does give everyone a chance to design a bit and it adds to game realism (IMHO).

Now all I need is another 2.2 million prestige or so....
  3. I'm pretty sure the cool stuff will be ridiculously priced, although I imagine that the empowerment stations will be reasonable. They are supposed to be usable by small SGs, after all. Of more concern to me is what room types some of these new gadgets will require. My base does not have a permanent workroom, and will not have one until I can upgrade the plot. I'm worried that the empowerment stations and storage bins will require a workroom to be placed.

Also: am I imagining it, or does the third picture down show wall mounted monitors at the far end?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Unfortunately, those are vents.
  5. YES! Now, reduce the plot costs and everything will be sweet.

    nice room, esp the lab

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank you! For some reason I couldn't get the other fourth of the room to post. I had a pic but it kept showing the entrance whenever you clicked on it. I can't figure out why.
  7. Ah, yes. I got a little closer to the screen and could see it. Thanks for the response.
  8. That's a nice 2x2 base! I have a toon on Pinnacle (mostly a solo character) that has something similar. Here it is:

    Entrance
    Living area
    Crime lab

The last pic has changed a bit since it was taken - now I have bookshelves put up to isolate a "sleeping area" from the office area.

You can do some nice things with a 2x2 space and 20,000 prestige. I think my last rent payment was 4 prestige.
  9. I like what you did there, especially with the wall cabinets. I'm curious, though, about the round things on the left-hand side of the screen (between the plant and the lamp). What are those? They look like dimensional anchors without the red glyphs in the middle.
  10. Ah! Thanks for moving that, Ruin. I thought that I WAS posting that on this thread.
  11. I suggested this in another thread, and apologies if anyone else has done so already:

    Item name: Infirmary healing tank

Limitations: None - just a decorative item.

I tend to use a blend of Arcane, Sewer (brick walls), and Hirano, myself. All my details are Arcane-themed, but I find the Arcane floor tiles too busy, and the Arcane wall tiles too dull...

*sigh* I still want water features in my base, dammit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Blends of all sorts of styles FTW. No offense to anyone here, but single-themed bases are boring IMHO. I tend to appreciate the eclectic look most of all.

And I agree totally on the water features. I want fountains and pools. I'd like to see something like the bacta tanks from Star Wars, too. That would be a cool addition to the infirmary.
  13. Actually, I'd prefer that they make some of these new items placable "anywhere" in the base. I don't have a permanent workroom, and would prefer not to be penalized for that.
  14. I can only assume that those are vents. The new ones for the brighter color and the "rusted" ones for the darker color. The round things are lights from the lighting menu.

So if I'm reading this right, I can go ahead and get a base set up, then build it bigger as more people join.

That's cool that you can sell back whatever you buy, very helpful. Thanks for your answer, it really helped !!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No problem! Have fun.
  16. When you create a base for the first time, all you get is a small 2x2 room. That's 2 grid blocks by 2 grid blocks. You'll see what I mean. With you as a sole member in the sg, you get a bonus of 20,000 prestige. For every member you add up to 15 members you get another 20,000 each. This means that an sg of 15 members will get the max bonus of 300,000 prestige. That prestige will not buy you much. You could actually by a couple of other rooms, but you will not be able to do anything functional with them.

You earn prestige by playing your character (and the others in the sg) in "Supergroup mode". This is a button located in the upper right corner of your supergroup window (located at top of chat window). As you defeat baddies and complete missions, you earn prestige. Prestige is the "money" for base building.

I'm not going to go into all the specifics about bases (check guides section and other stuff - like this thread), but to get what is considered a "minimally functional" base, you need about 750k prestige.

The best way to learn the base editing tool is just to use it. Everything you buy can be sold back for full price. Have fun!

    Two comments:

    1.) I like it.

    2.) Good for you.
  18. Item US Flag (can also do other countries flags)

i didnt think they had rent on test. that really sux

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I said Test is for planning out bases not making a REAL SG just one by yourself without rent I wish we had double our current prestige and all SG badges on the test so we can REALLY try out bases

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure why this isn't so. What would be the harm if they gave us, say, 1 billion prestige? I think it would be nice also if there was some sort of salvage (other than tackling mobs) or maybe even no salvage requirement. It would be nice to see what the ultimate base would be like. I know that I'd have fun with it.
  20. It hooks into your control mainframe as an auxillary control unit and requires some power.
  21. I built the first version of this base on test awhile ago (and posted pics of it here - page 11), but it has changed somewhat in its second incarnation.

Behold the home of The Infinity Legion (it still needs a name).
Our group is a play together once-a-week group (no soloing) that has no designs on PvP. Our PvE base consists of infirmary, teleporter room, power room, control room (all 2x2) and a 5x5 decorative room. Here it is:

    Overhead view
    The entry
    Infirmary #1
    Infirmary #2 (science lab)
    Teleporter bay
    Power room #1
    Power room #2 (water system)
    Control room
    Reception area/office
    Library
    Team meeting area
    Bar/Brewery
View of lounge from behind bar
    TV area
    Entrance to team quarters
    Team quarters #1
    Team quarters #2

There ya have it. Thanks to everyone else for posting their screenshots. I always enjoy seeing other bases.
  22. Ooooh - a spur line. Cool idea. I'd like it even better if it was just a door that you could install. Clicking on the door brings up a destination menu. Otherwise, another room might not fit in some bases.

I understand the need for the devs to have people burn time in travel, but removing this annoyance for the players might result in accounts sticking around longer. Just a theory.
  23. This has probably been mentioned, but here goes:

I want (badly) the jukebox and (especially) beer taps from the PDP. If I could just have the beer taps, and also have them be stackable on the counter I'm using for a bar, I would be very happy. Please let this happen, oh please oh please.....
