They're still coming up as corrupt for me.

Photoshop CS3, for what it's worth.

Hero 1 is just showing as generically corrupt, but I can't see any obvious visible image corruption.

Hero 2 borks on the location font, and loses the Location Font layer effects. There may be other glitches, but that's all that I can see at a quick glance.

Hero 3 just shows as generically corrupt, but has blue corruption, again on the frame element, in 'Layer 171 Copy 4'

To be honest, if you can't get this sorted, it's probably still workable, just by skipping the errors, copying any missing elements (like the type effects missing from hero 2) from the other versions and carrying on regardless since as has been said a few times, this is a photography competition, not a photoshoppery competition.

However, that sort of faffing round in .psd files is not 'complete noob' skill level, and may end up excluding people who'd otherwise like to compete.

I don't know. But I hope you can get it sorted out.

:Edit: forgot to try the Hazard zone file, too.

It's corrupt. And since I may as well, have a link to a .jpg of what I see when I load up the file (notice the pink/orange/reddish oddness happening in the middle of the image) :

:edit 2: OK, that's very very odd. Irfanview opens the .psd's perfectly. no errors or glitches. Photoshop chokes. Umm.... I pass on that one. <idle speculation> I wonder if I can re-export it from irfanview to fix whatever the issue is?</idle speculation>.... Nope, just tried it, I can't re-export and preserve the layers.

You mean the relatively barren EU servers that have been on 2 dots of load pretty much constantly since last week? Union has never been off 2 dots, whenever I logged on, including at 1am...

Anyway, I'm a single server player (Union), so I've got no use for server transfers, and didn't use any.

H_LoadingScreen_1.psd: Photoshop CS3 throws up an error about the file containing unknown data, then when you tell it to 'Keep layers', it throws up another error about the document having been damaged by a disk error. Push past that and The file loads up, but there's green corruption in the 'Frame' layer group, specifically in 'Layer 183'.

H_LoadingScreen_2.psd: No error about unknown data, but the same error about the file being damage by a disk error. This time, what appears to be a little corruption in the 'Layer 132' layer within the 'Frame' layer group.

H_LoadingScreen_3.psd: Same as loading screen 2, blue corruption in the lower section of the 'Layer171 Copy 4' layer within the 'Frame' layer group.

Hazard_LoadingScreen.psd: Again, 'damaged by disk error' message, green corruption within the 'Layer171 Copy 4' layer within the 'Frame' layer group.

All three villain files work fine. ZOMG! Devs hate heroes! (sorry, couldn't resist )

This is all with the versions I grabbed the other day, I'll quickly regrab them and try again, in case it was a download error.

    <insert 5 minutes here>

Same glitches with hero zone 1 and 2, new glitch with 3 - 'A problem was encountered reading layer "border" because of a program error. Continue?'

it eventually loaded up with an all new version of file corruption.
  4. This isn't the same CoP as years ago.

    It is officially 'NOT easy'.

Regarding the run last night, some feedback:

Long lasting -Regen is looking essential. Warburg nukes don't provide any -regen, and Envenomed Daggers don't have enough duration. So Dark Miasma and Radiation Emission look to be non-optional, sadly.

After the first couple of rounds in the inner Cathedral, I think people were getting a little tired and concentration was drifting a little.

I'd be tempted to try a blitz strategy at least once - ie the first time the shield goes down, EVERYONE unloads their chemical burns on the Aspect, just to see how far you can get him down in one burst.

The guides and plan all fitted to the axiom "No battle plan survives contact with the enemy".

The spawns from the Cubes were not necessarily managed perfectly, but they were at least managed. Good for a first try, IMO.

Regarding the trial itself, I've never been a fan of content so difficult it requires a specific teamcomposition to manage it, I think it's not playing to the strengths of the game, which is the sheer diversity. However, this is the current pinnacle of difficulty in the game, so we'll have to wait and see if there are any adjustments, or whether there's some secret strategy that we're not aware of yet (I doubt it though).

Oh, and god alone knows how many times I planted. Searching the chatlog for last night implies about 13 times

We didn't get him, but we got a lot of information.

    Nice try, folks.

Let the timer on the final mission expire. You get a different souvenir
  8. Why fight carnies?

Well, my Stone/Fire scranker doesn't care one whit about their end drain (because he's fully capable of haemorrhaging his own endurance, non-IO build), and happily burns his way through +1/x5 spawns, bosses and all.

On a team they can be horrendous, but solo, they're a nice challenge if you're got a toon who can mitigate the nastiness in there.

Off the top of my head, with Carnies, you're facing:

    Lethal/Energy Damage (Jugglers/Attendants)
Smashing Damage with stuns and KB (Strongmen)
Fire Damage with potentially multiple stacking burn patches(Seneschals)
    Lethal Damage with -Def (Fencers)
-Tohit/-dam (Steel Strongmen Mask of weakness, Dark Ring Mistress & Dark Servant Twilight Grasp, which also has -regen in there, too)
Psi Damage (Illusionists, Master Illusionists, Dark Ring Mistresses)
MASSIVE -Def, -regen, -recovery debuff (Dark Ring Mistresses, Mask of vitiation, my candidate for the most grossly overpowered debuff faced in the game)
Lots of holds (Illusionists, Master Illusionists, Dark Ring Mistresses)
Oh, and the AoE end drain upon defeating them (almost forgot that one)

That variety of threat makes them entertaining to burn by the dozen when you find a toon that can cope with it

In fact, my Stone/Fire scranker has been weakening Vanessa DeVore's mental defences for months by attacking her on the psychic plane for the hell of it.

It may be a combination of things.

    a) I'm pretty much convinced that the Assault Bot's Incendiary Swarm Missiles got a pretty hefty damage reduction, but I don't know if it was deliberate or a side effect of the changes to Fire Armour Burn.

    b) The bots AI is still lobotomised and insists on running into melee, where they usually get splatted (Drones especially). And it doesn't matter what orders you've got them on, they will leg it all over the map to punch a mob.

Well, I did a few panoramic screenshots of a few different zones, but that's not quite what you're looking for, I feel.

It MAY be possible to use demorecord combined with the demodump replay function and setting a HUGE screen resolution in the playback shortcut to get obscene resolution dumps, but I don't know. Have a play yourself and become the resident expert on it

The ultimate team is 8 players who know what they're doing, how their powersets/AT's work and are paying attention.

Did it on union earlier and numbers are defo way up now

    I was busted
Zombie Man has a method for using /search to get numbers.

Search based on AT. If that caps at 50, search based on AT and origin.

Write down numbers that you get that are less than 50.

    Add them all together.

Congratulations, you now have an approximately accurate estimate of server population, except that since you were measuring a moving target over a time period, there's some inaccuracy there, and you're only seeing people who aren't hidden from searches, so there's some more inaccuracy there, too.

But it's better than 'ZOMG, there R only 50 people on!!!1! Teh Serverz R dieing!!1!'

It's been like that for weeks. Do it a few more times and you'll get a different popup with some other detail.

I've /bug'd it, but more prompting about it won't hurt.
  14. Is it just me, or are Incendiary Swarm Missiles from the Assault Bot in Robotics doing far FAR less damage than they used to?

I can't remember seeing a patch note about it, and I'm wondering if their burn patches got caught up partway in the rebalancing of Fire Armour's Burn patches.

There are fewer ticks of damage from the patches, they're slower ticking, but I can't remember the numbers from before Issue 18.

    Anyone?

    Depends.

On a less solo friendly toon, such as a defender with a non debuffing primary? Almost certainly, but that depends on the team.

Also, teams chew through mobs faster, but larger teams means more mobs to chew through. I'm not sure anything could speed up a solo scrapper/brute/stalker/blaster who knows what they're doing.

You can still only get 5 tip missions worth of alignment credit every 20 hours, so nothing can get you more than one merit per 40 hours from tips/alignment with another 1 per however many hours, 18 or so I think, bought with reward merits and inf.

I'm not sure if that answers your question, though.
  16. All toons must keep and never use the Tier 3 Red Inspiration that they get given in Outbreak/Breakout/District 5.

That's my big weird self imposed rule, and it started out as 'I wonder how long I can take playing this Stone/Fire tanker as a scranker and keep that inspiration'. I keep trying to preserve the Tier 3 Green, but I've not gotten past level 27 or so before I find myself burning it in a usually futile attempt to stay alive and fighting.

I try not to repeat powersets at all, but I've got two Willpower toons, a Scrapper and a Brute, because the powerset was the best fit for their concepts. I also tend to shy away from powersets that friends have played alongside me.

I was going for at least one toon of each AT, but I got that a few months ago (I class PB/WS as the same AT, just different powersets, hence why I've got a WS, but no PB. The same with Arachnos, Widow but no Soldier yet, he's at 32.)

I don't tend to respec my toons, but that's more because of a mixture of finding the respec process a complete faff on, and the fact that the builds I have, 'errors' and all, are part of the character of the toon, and changing that to me feels like I may as well be rolling the toon from scratch again.

Hence why my Robotics/Traps MM is non-Stamina, non-IO'd and haemorrhages Blue like you would not believe, but can still walk out of situations that leave other alts face down... <shrug> It's amazing what 5 years of playing a toon can do for learning how to handle it and exactly when is the time to turn around and run like a scared little girl...

Other than that the only other rules I stick to are that I don't Powerlevel, I don't give inf to beggars so they can 'list this PvP recipe I got' (yes, I was asked that once, they wanted me to give them 25 million so they could list it... o_O), and generally I don't appreciate people asking me to help them shortcut their way to rewards that I had to put in the time and effort to get.

Yep, patience pays dividends. It did for me, too.

Personally, my top secret (so don't tell anyone) method for destroying the game is to buy common salvage at 300 inf each (so the seller makes a slight profit over vendoring the stuff, I'm not in it to rip anyone off, even if they're begging to be ripped off by listing at 1 inf...), make up generic IO's with the benefit of the portable workbench, and then list them for sale at a price that is cheaper than buying a recipe and making it yourself at a crafting station, and has none of the faff attached.

Shocking, isn't it? I should probably be ashamed of myself for soullessly destroying the game like that, if it weren't for the pleasure I get from stroking my 'Ebil Marketeer' badge while staring at the 'You have x bought and y sold items on the consignment house' message upon logging in for 2-3 minutes to maintain sales/purchases. And then, the backbreaking labour of emailing another 100M inf off my marketeers to another alt to make space for more millions of Ebil profits...

  19. I must have just missed it, but Defiant was on two dots for most of the evening, too.
  20. I wish I'd thought to take some screenshots, but I think I was a little bit eager.

I was the first activity on a number of common salvage pieces, going by the 0 for sale, 0 bidding, no recent history status on the stuff I was bidding on to restart my generic IO trade

I know, screenshots or it didn't happen, so I guess that means it officially didn't happen

It disappeared with Issue 17 (IIRC), and it's back in Issue 18. (just checked on test)

Since it'll be back on the live servers early next week, I'm not really sure it's worth submitting a /bug report about it.
  23. Traps. e.g. the wrist tapping animation to teleport traps in for Triage/Trip Mine.

Dual Blades. Some some more thrust/stab options for those toons who use the Rapier/Main Gauche pairing as the current Hack/Slash styled animations look a little odd with lighter weapons.

Regeneration. Can we get something other than the chest thumping for Integration? Also, having MoG not waste part of it's (now rather short) duration rooting you would be nice, but that's outside the scope of this thread.

That's all that springs to mind immediately.
