Very nice! Specially like the shadowed pattern on the floor, very nice and classy touch! Who did the color?

The more I see it, the more I think the unmoving plaid could be a pretty cool ongoing gimmick if the character was used over and over... But I'm weird like that and find odd things amusing. 0,o
if ya wanted to take a whack at one of my characters, feel free. References can be gotten by clicking the sig banner... The A button for Daybreaker Alpha, my Iron Man rip off/guy in a technology suit... The F button brings you to Fenian's screenshots, she's my little Irish witch... The left hand face button should bring you to Caemgen, my demony looking chap - he's really just misunderstood...
I've no preference so sketch up whoever suits your fancy... Or not as you please. -
Hmph, I'm probably about 1/3 of the way through my entry? Hard to tell, sometimes these things take on a life of their own...
But all in all, I'm almost done since I got the hardest part done: I started it! Being the professional procrastinator I am, that is the toughest hurdle. -

Those are all pretty darn cool, going to have to finger through your gallery later
+watch for sure!!
I love the Vertigo Judy the best... The plaid on the codename Z one kind of bugs me though - they way it's a wallpaper plaid and doesn't move with the suit at all. It could be a cool effect if it was animated, the fact his suit was plaid is if invisible and walking past something else that was plaid? but in a still pic it does seem just a tad lazy, sorryBut besides that nitpic, it's all very cool.

Any of the artists here planning to enter this? -
never tried to link a dA image, let's see....
Ah, ok... simple!
Right click on the image you want to include and choose properties. Cut and paste the HTML code out of there and then just insert that addy into the image box when posting (or paste it in and put the img codes around it manually I suppose.) -
Fenian by rhardo http://rhardo.deviantart.com/
Rhardo originally did work for me on the portraits for the Daybreak Patrol... I loved them all and it was about time I got him to do Caemgen and Fenian as well... This completes my set of rhardoized versions of my characters... For now

Quote:Errr, this is February 2nd....no fair.. I JUST got my new lightbox and tracing paper today...
I think im one of the few people that hasent turned in an image so far, and February hasn't even started yet :*(
But don't fear - I haven't turned in an image yet either and probably won't -
Thanks... but ack! Removed the actual numbers!! We're not allowed to cite specific prices or else the fury of the rednames will come down upon us! Just needed to know it was fixed beforehand
-
Great art all the way around...
I guess I agree that technically he should be waiting inside but it's not like he wouldn't see/hear the train coming so why not enjoy a nice day while he waits? *shrug*
Question on the artist without going into specific prices - She mentions an hourly rate, did you get a set price (or at least pretty tight price range) before the agreement was made or just a speculative "Around X amount"?
Curious because I'd be hesitant to hire anyone without a price pretty much set... I woudln't be willing to pay by the hour since I have no idea of how long they actually worked on it, not like I can have them punch a time clock. I have no problem paying for quality work but I need to know the hit my checkbook will take beforehand... -
Quote:Right-o! I'll wait for you thereMaybe it's just me but in the domin'/lib' piece I figured the red "panties" were more like bloomers. It didn't make sense to me that domin' would strip to spank lib'. If I was gonna do it, I'm in control, why did I take my panties off?...caem, just go to your bunk.
Quote:That said lets fit the story, perhaps domin' made a bargain...of which lib got panties and then lib got more than she bargained for...
Quote:I'm just thinking out loud. Why is food and naked girls so sexy? Am I a hungry pervert?
Food brings attentions to a girls mouth?
The naughtiness factor?
*shrug* It just is. -
Don't think this place will be quite the same without ya, Foo...
Least I know I can find ya on dA when I need some of that Foo-tastic loving only you can provide! -
Hmmm, thought I noticed something special in this thread but I guess it went unnoticed after all...
Ah well, have a good day.

I've been seeing a lot of stuff by JoeD lately... His work is really starting to grow on me. You snagged some very nice pieces by him, grats!
And McKinney always does pretty solid work... I personally can't get too worked up over them, I like my line art with either lots of shading and detailing or shipped off for colorizationJust a personal taste but his work is definitely really good (and would be great lines for a color man to work with!)

Lol, nice...
Though I'd have had her eating Bon bon's instead of smoking a cigar - show her letting herself go now that she's landed her man - but maybe that's just the sexist in me
but great job... Took me a sec to recognize her as Cinderella but that's likely more my fault for never having actually watched it... -
Heh, looking at this again I notice that ref pic I sent is just the movie version of the art... Somehow missed that on first glance, though I had just woken up...
Anyway, I guess I was thinking he would switch it up a bit more than he did but it doesn't really matter to me. Daybreaker himself is a bit of an homage to Iron Man so I see no reason at least some of the art shouldn't reflect that.
The blue light bouncing back up from the punch definitely must be a product of the art but it fits perfectly with Alpha currently using the peacebringer archtype (which I think fits him perfectly so long as I stay away from the form change powers...) so I'm really glad he kept that bit in...
But when I said I loved the dynamic of the picture it definitely wasn't all about the pose. Of course that is part of it but at least is much is finally seeing Alpha take down Crey - the sign being smashed and the buildings coming tumbling down... Even the black edging of the picture and how Alpha's arm and the one building break this edge... Even the buildings being off to the side as opposed to behind Alpha, maybe it was easier to draw that way but to me it looks awesome, kind of a two panel page without the panel.
So yep, he followed the reference shot probably a bit more than I intended but it works so I have no complaints... I wonder a bit if language came into play there... His English is a million times netter than my any other language but since he's obviously a native speaker I tried to simplify my intent to "something like this" when I think initially I was going to say "your take on this kind of pose." I was afraid "your take" might be one of those colloquialisms we all never think twice about but foreign speakers might not grasp... I'll have to be more forceful on getting my intent across in the future... -
Sorry, somehow missed this when you were in the b&w stage... Not that I would had useful comments anyway
anyway, this turned out awesome... All kinds of win. My only comment is that the face may be defined too much? The cheekbone and such. Looks almost as if he had been all withered up and is now regaining the natural plumpness of his flesh along with his strength, if that makes sense?
And as far as I know it's the look you were going for. Never been a big sipes follower but I do know they portrayed his kryptonite weakness several different ways over time... (shrug)
anyway, for me that doesn't take away from the coolness factor at all, I just think maybe it was overdone just a tad is all... Looks great on the muscles but maybe a bit much for face is all. -
That works too
. And I have no problem with that per se...
I did hate last year when someone had RL issues rear their head and they missed a month and were thus eliminated... That's the only reason I'm in favor of a bye at all... -
I wouldn't mind if immunity worked so he who held it could play it if eliminated... But I would limit it to like expiring after two months and only one could be held at a time - winning immunity 2 times in a row would refresh your time limit to use it, nit give you two chances to us it. I would also probably make all immunity "tokens" void the last 3 or 4 months...
I wouldn't be opposed to a bye month either - where each person in could take a pass one month and one month only. I'd say this could be used any time before the deadline but that no more than 1/2 or 1/3 of still live entrants could be on a bye- and of course it would be first requested first granted... This also should end at the last few
months...
Course it looks like we may also need multiple eliminations if we want it head to head the last month...
As for 1st 2nd and 3rd places, I would probably only consider the last 3 months totals for any overall rankings and would probably again not use the last few months.
To me, the last 3 or 4 months are nitty gritty time and should be won or lost on the merits of each piece individually. A certain amount of slacking in early or middle rounds is ok but at the end, with the title in your grasp, if you cannot manage to give your art what it needs to win then your not the champion this forum needs... Or deserves.
anyway, if any modifications are being made they should be done before February voting starts... -
Actually the pose reference I sent him was http://360.kombo.com/images/content/...on-man-hit.jpg telling him I wanted something similar to that. Artist and colorist also mentioned that I sent them IM refs...
Not sure if they looked at the exact image you have as well or not. The angle certainly seems so. I'm good with it either way... -
Dick Seargent, wasn't it?
Anyway, I was almost going to mention the colors but then I looked at the artists page and 3 of his 4 latest deviations are marker works... And they are using the same colors in all. I pretty much got the impression the artist was testing out his marker art chops with a limited selection. I could be wrong but *shrug*
