Quote:Of course it was intended. It wasn't "a" veteran reward, it was broken into three or four veteran "rewards". You think it was an accident that the whole F2P/cash shop just happened to roll out with an exclusive and very distinctive VIP costume that required you to be at the top tier (good thing you can buy your way up) and then spend multiple tokens once you get there?
Can you name another veteran reward costume set that required four different rewards to collect it all? Boxing set? Sleek tech?
Well before you would get one vet reward every three months, now you get one every month.
The celestial set takes three tokens doesn't it? Making it an old school style three month reward.
Additionally the original plan was that players would get their vet reward tokens up front, as in if they paid for a six month sub, they'd get six tokens on the first day of that sub, however technical issues prevented. -
Quote:Hey guys,
I thought I'd jump in here and give some feedback on an idea that kept cropping up at the beginning of the thread:
Costume parts for VIPs.
While this sounds good on paper, the reality of the situation is the system isn't set up to handle this. It would involve a pretty significant code-change (we investigated this when developing Freedom). The problem is "what happens when you are no longer VIP?" Currently the game does not remove illegal costume parts (as many players can attest to, still having costumes with illegal parts today).
The simple solution sounds like "let us keep them" but we'd like to avoid the future argument of "why do non-VIPs get to use VIP costumes?"
I think you might be misunderstanding what people are asking for.
They are asking that while they are VIP they can go the store and outright purchase the Elemental Order costume pack, rather than having to rely on pot luck with the boosters.
Not that they get it for free, or that only VIP can get it, but just the option of giving you guys the money and reciving exactly what they want.
Of course a preemium could do the same, but well they just gave you $15 in subscription fee and the extra money for the costume pack, so for that time aren't they a VIP?
Now perhaps I'm wrong about Paragon and you guys would much perfer the option of having subscribers also run the risk of spending a crap load of money and not reciving what they want from these packs.
I'd be very dissapointed if my high opinion of you guys as a company turned out to be false. -
Quote:No it hasn't. It has never applied.
As I said:
"The "Coupon Collector's Problem" only applies when you can potentially collect the same piece twice, and further, that every piece is desired precisely once.
"Neither of those things are true of the super packs.
a) Costume pieces can never be repeated, if you get one, you will never get it again.
b) Other items in the packs may be desired more than once, or not at all."
Both of those facts were known at the original announcement, and they are still known now.
The "Coupon Collector's Problem" didn't apply then, and it still doesn't apply now, for precisely those two reasons, which were just as true then as they are now.
If you're going to respond to this post, please try and actually address those two points, rather than just going "Nuh uh, it did apply, it DID!"
It does apply.
I could theoreticly, get multple inspirations, multiple enhancements, multiple bonouses of the exp/prestige or windfall variety, these would come instead of the costume pieces I want, and can come multiple times instead of said pieces. -
Quote:I think Selina has outlined the real objection, I think Raven just needs to understand what was written and stop trying to be right. People want to pay a certain amount for a certain item and not have the only way to get said item to be a gambling with real money for a chance.
The good thing about this is based on the specific change the devs made to ATIO's it is VERY clear that they get this concept and frankly that is all that matters to me. Cheers Raven.
Once they do the same for the costume pieces, then they'll once more be my fave dev team in the world.
Right now though they've dropped to below EA/Activision levels, which is a very bad thing. -
Personally I like that instead of picking a genre and then gating two seperate concepts from that genre by gender of toon they are doing the sensible: Give both the same concept from that genre.
Or to sum it up, if the female costume is that of a *****, the male one had better darn well be a pointy toed giggalo -
Quote:Can someone explain what these are? I guess I haven't been keeping up.
Orange powered recipies that can be slotted depending on Archtype.
The second thing is used to either convert them to a different random Archtype enhacement, or power them up to an untradable purple recipe version. -
Quote:
This is at the heart of people's arguments even if they have not directly said so, because that is WHY they dislike the random factor and want a 'sure thing'. I don't disagree with them, or this, but it's a fallacy of minor consequence here, but a fallacy nonetheless.
Personally I find thata game company known for being very good creating a method of introducing children/young teens, into real money gambling to be well I don't know enough unmodable words to describe how foul I find it. -
Still going to cost me way more than 400 points for the costume set, though isn't it.
Not happy till that is made no exclusive to the pack. -

Quote:Hyperbole much?
It's an online forum for a game, not a service that takes care of an ICU or something.
The unmitigated arrogance of many of the forum regulars on these boards is what needs 'maintenance' IMO.
It is however something VIP's actually pay for so yeah.
It shouldn't be left to fester without maintance.
Heck last night forum access was dire. -
Quote:Well, Pyramid Head made it work, didn't he? Stalkers are as much fear as they are stealth XD
Mutant "Well I make my clothes go invisble, why should my weapon be any different?"
Science "The moleculeur structure of this blade shifts when explosed to a current of one point twenty one jiggwats, thus causing it to project a sub psychic perception field that makes me unnoticable"
Tech "See the engine on the end, it's an invisbility field projector kinda neet right?"
magic "This axe one belonged to Zars Turovich the famed headsman of Jorikstown who used to chop of the heads of those that had sinned during the night, due to all the blood it sheds it masks the wielders presence much like the hood of an exercutioner was supposed to."
Natural "I'm a friggin ninja." -
Quote:Seriously though, how is the Assassin's Strike going to work? Is it going to be something like holding the thing behind you, then bringing it down in a massive overhead strike?
There is already a single target attack power in Titan Weapons that has an Assassin's strike animation, you crouch and pull back the weapon then stab forward to impale/impact the enemy. -
Oh wow, do I really want to bring Tomb to this, someone with no psychic defense or ability at all? Well I suppose she is supposed to attend things like this to learn about the wacky nature of Primal Earth and its inhabitants.

Quote:As I mentioned earlier, this has been communicated to the team. The leadership definitely understands what you're asking for.
Given what Zwill has said about the schedules you guys work under, could you give us an idea of realisticly how many sets/projects, will still come out with the pre-tinting before sets with the no pre-tinting idea start to show up? -
Quote:As seen in the concept, these are meant to be shiny metal helms, so it'd be crazy not to use realistic cubemap reflection on them. Dull, non-reflective surfaces would be far less cool. That said, the artists have control over how mirror-like the surface is, and as long as it's dialed down to a reasonalble degree (I dunno, like 20%), it'll still clearly show of it's embedded color and still look nice and shiny. There's a sweet spot between too reflective and not reflective enough, and the goal's obviously to hit that mark.
This might be greedy of me, but can we have both, can we have a metal one and a dull version of these pieces?
The dull one would work so much better with older parts, plus it could stand in for plastic, painted wood etc for concepts. -
Quote:I *think* this is what you guys are asking us to avoid, correct? It seems like you don't want any part of any piece locked into a specific color, right?
That and pieces having a pre colouring.
For example if a player tries to turn the celestial set black, well they don't get black.
Same with some of the gunslinger parts, they are grey when you try to have white, and it mucks the other colours up as well, making it hard to match colours with pieces from different sets. -
Quote:Weird. I never considered the Steampunk pack to be sexy.
The face is ugly (and considered as such by many in my experience). And outside of showing some skin, the pieces aren't all that sexy and look rather...well...not sexy. Now I love the jackets from the pack, but...meh on the over all "this is so sexy" comment about it.
The 'sexy' tag refers to well, go to a costume store or ebay and search for a costume of a particular theme. You'll no doubt find ones labelled 'sexy' they sort of adhere to the correct theme but are massivly more revealing.
As a short exercise, please go to Google Image search, first type in 'steampunk costume' and look at the pictures that come up, then type 'sexy steampunk costume' note how the second search is much closer to the set we recived.
Heck one of the first pics I saw had the exact jacket and half corset/bra that we get in game. -
Quote:We know a knight set is coming down the pipeline , I figure I can wait and see if its another case of guys get to be a knight and girls get to be a sexy princess with a corset and thigh high princess boots .
And the pledge that they will (going forward) make non tinted versions of things they decide to pretint is icing on the proverbial cake for me .
It would be nice if Zwill could put our minds at rest, that the next set won't be another 'cool for male, sexy for female' sets, but one of the promissed gender equal costume sets. -
Quote:I think you mean to say, how many months has it been since a few got vocal about the "slutty" witch costume.
I loved the witch costume! I've used the top that shows absolutely no skin many times, and I've used the witch top that shows skin. I've used the witch bottoms that show no skin at all. And I've never used the witch bottoms that show skin.
I'd use the magic jacket more if I could use it with the fur lining, and I'd use the witch sleeve on quite a few jacket options if it was an option.
The boots were utter failure imo due to the feet looking so huge.
And I love the witch tight gloves (tho I have used the witch gloves with wings on a costume or two).
I think I mean to say since the Dev's last commented on the whole issue of 'Can we have something that wouldn't appear with the word 'sexy' written before it on an ebay costume search'.
They said okay we won't do this in future.
Cue 'sexy' steampunk and now 'sexy' gunslinger, okay so the work is planned that far in ahead that the costume devs are at work on their new project while the set is in beta. Okay understanderable, but the idea that the work goes on so far ahead that they are still working on the 'sexy' design ethos from the magic pack beggers belief.
It's alright to say once again 'We'll look into it due to the feedback' but another thing when the next six months worth of costume packs are already being made with the 'sexy' gender locked design ethos. -
Quote:I can add in the belt, but then you'd have to spend points on it. But I already addressed that point earlier in the thread.
I also posted that I felt it was unrealistic to expect people to just make a gunslinger costume with what they already had available earlier in the thread, too - it's so much more gratifying to complain incessantly than it is to not give them your money and/or spend points on something that you don't like. But when something that you can already make is presented as something that people want to pay extra for, I thought that maybe people should take a step back from the emotion and start talking with their wallets instead.
I'm not getting your point. People say they can't make a female gunslinger with the pack called 'Gunslinger' you show that they can make a gunslinger female with stuff that isn't in the pack.
That begs the question, what's the point of the pack then?
You know the pack that is called 'Gunslinger' and should add 'Gunslinger' parts to the game, for making such things as female gunslingers. -
Quote:Well yeah. That was my point. Maybe now we'll see Gunslinger 2, and it'll have Gunslinger options for females, bartender getup for males AND holsters!
Not any time soon, not like within a year.
However do expect the Super Pack's to go live as designed, and the next costume pack to once more be cool for guys and stripper fashion for females.
Because that's what Feedback means according to Zwill, we give them our feedback and they might act on it some time in the future. I mean it's only been how many months since people gave negative feedback on the 'slutty' witch costume and lack of sensibly covering cool stuff? -
Quote:For those wanting the Quick and the Dead outfit from earlier, this was done without a single thing from the Gunslinger pack, and didn't take all that long to piece together:
Yes, it could use a holster belt. Yes, it could use better pistols and a better hat. But it's not like there aren't options available at all...
Edit: original concept idea:
Hm... I should have looked it over again before redoing it. I missed on a few colors.
Either way, can we stop saying "I can't make that!"?
Please try making it with anything provided for females in the 'Gunslinger' pack, bet you can't. -
Good bye, while we've not seen eye to eye all the time, you've always been a roleplayer that I respected the opinions of.
So good luck with where ever your travels take you. -
Quote:I will bring the topic to development.
Realistically, don't expect it any time soon. Schedules are planned out months in advance and right now we're working on both Issues 22 and 23 and art schedules are quite possibly the most rigorous and time consuming of the lot, especially the character artists. Time to revisit previous costume pieces is not currently included and to do so would compromise new costume sets, villain groups, etc, etc...it has an extreme domino effect.
This may sound snarky, but the sort of hinted half leaked might be coming medivel style pack, please tell me it's not being made right now with the same design ethos as the gunslinger pack? -
