"I'm Danica," she said, wandering up towards the front of the group, nodding to Grey as she did so. "Martial Arts expert."
The man in the suit looked up from the back, as if he had been lost in thought. "Some refer to me as 'Big Thelth.' You may call me Thomas instead, if you wish." -
Personally, I'm liking Worlds most of the three. Though the others do sound interesting.
-
"I believe this shall serve." A man gazed at himself in a large, ornate mirror. Brown hair slicked back perfectly, and a black, neatly trimmed suit, he cut a fairly impressive figure. The man reached for a small pendant set on a stone table. He placed it carefully over his neck, and sighed. "And now, it begins."
------------------
A woman dropped from the sky, landing gracefully in front of the Freedom Corps. perimeter. She walked forward, swaying gracefully in the tight, brown leather costume she wore, her cape flowing majestically behind her. She adjusted the red belt right before standing in front of one of the Officers.
"Security clearance?"
She handed him a small card. He gazed at it carefully for a moment, then snorted.
"Knew you couldn't keep it up, Mike," said Danica with a light smile.
"Eh. Can't blame me for trying to act the part, ya know?" He shook his head and handed her back the card. "Good luck, D. And be careful out there."
"Always am," she called back, heading toward the group already assembling.
There was a faint *pop* as the brown-haired man appeared in the same spot Danica had landed.
"Security clearance?" asked Mike.
The man handed him his card. The Longbow soldier cocked his head as he scanned it, not seeing any results coming up. "Sorry... Big Thelth, was it? I'm not getting anything from our database."
Thelth frowned. "Odd... Look again."
Mike's blinked away what felt like the last remnants of his morning sleepiness, then double-checked. This time the scanner approved and confirmed the hero identity. "Whoops... Musta misentered something. Go on in."
Big Thelth nodded and walked forward towards the others, his face utterly emotionless. -
Sybil thought for a moment. "I believe the repair station would be suitable for them. Captain Demens will escort your bots there."
A soldier with a small blue and silver star on his chest stepped forward to guide the robots down the hall, disappearing around the corner.

"Hey!" he shouted as he rushed to the monitor, "Can you rewind this?"

"Sure," said a soldier as he opened up a side window. The current battle displayed on one side while the other showed the rewound footage in a small loop.

They reappeared inside the old tram station of Kings Row. The railing had long since been torn away by Masters assault strikers to prevents easier movement of troops and supplies, but it was still a location relatively safe from the bombarding dropships.
Steve watched as the others began to appear. As soon as what seemed like everyone was there, he gave the plan. "We need to go out and find out whose forces are leading this attack. Sybil will let us know where to move from there. Split up. If anything happens and we get seperated, meet back at the base with what you know. -
Act 2: Winds of Change
Elitist watched as the battle replayed again and again from the moment the heroes first struck Aphex to the moment Tyrant's assassin bots were forced to remove him before The Resistance could gain any information. He turned to those gathered around him, his lieutenants. "You see why we must press now, before they begin to think they have some form of chance."
Blightlord watched their leader's movements carefully, noting every ounce of tension and the expressions he was trying to hide.
"Zey cannot warranty a attack of zees size," said Harlequin with a small pout.
"I can promise, you're way off on that," said Techno-Tyrant, leaning back in his chair. He tinkered with a small device as he spoke. "My androids analyzed each and every one of them. These newcomers are tougher than most of the Resistance's men. We'll need to at least demoralize them for now."
"Then we are in agreement," said Elitist, stepping away from the table and returning to his chambers. "You all are dismissed..."
-----------------
Rachel turned to Jake. "She is the commander here, meaning if there's something important she has to deal with first, she can. She's with a defector at the moment. A fairly important one from what I got." She turned to Baalial. "And as for private quarters for your friend, you can ask any of the guards stationed here and they can lead you somewhere quiet. Actually, let me call in someone to help escort Windsong and the others to the med-bay so we can start-"
The doors slid open, revealing Sybil as she stepped toward them all with open arms. Thule was a few steps behind her, and Steve visibly tensed. However, his eyes went blank for a moment, and he relaxed, though obviously not happy.
"You all have done remarkably well. Never has such a great victory been achieved. If it weren't for all of you, why, even now we may be-"
"Commander!" shouted a man, running down the hall. "We've got a situation!"
Sybil turned and her face darkened immediately. "Follow me," she ordered, turning back into the control room and moving quickly toward the view screen. Rachel's face drained of color for a moment as she too sensed what was happening.
The screens flickered to life, and a nearly-destroyed Kings Row was being decimated by flier-strikes as Mayhem ground troops scoured the area for the remaining Resistance soldiers. "I had feared this would happen," muttered Sybil. She turned to the others. "Though I wish you could remain so that we may celebrate, I'm sure you know what I'm about to ask. We can't lose that position. It's our only way of breaking forward at this point and ensuring your victory in Perez Park remains secure."
Steve nodded. "Yes, Commander. Any of you ready to move out, follow me." He stepped on the teleporter pads and vanished to smaller base in the Row.
"I'm in," said Arrow, following suit and vanishing as well. -
The others reappeared inside of the base's main hall. Guards aimed weapons, but upon seeing Steve's uniform, returned to their position of attention.
He led the others toward Sybil's control room until they came across a closed and guarded door. "We need to see Sybil," said Steve to one of the front guards.
A girl with long black hair stepped forward. "She's in the middle of talking with a prisoner."
"Rachel, I don't have time for this."
"You're gonna have to make time then. This is importa-"
"And it's important we see Sybil! We had a-"
"I already know what you're going to say, and that's great. But Sybil ordered these doors stay shut until she opens them."
Steve sighed. "Can you at least arrange transportation for the people without teleporters?"
Rachel nodded and closed her eyes. She quickly sent a message out to one of the men in the control room.
A few seconds later, Baalial, Hotaka, and any others left behind were teleported in the main hall.
"There," she said. "Now just wait. She shouldn't be too much longer." -

There are competitive heroes or heroes who occassionally let their head get the better of them who have a desire to go at it with one another. It's almost like Flash racing Superman.
As for villains, I've never been to sure how come their arena is connected to the heroes. I've always assumed the villain arenas are a bit older, but the company that makes them all runs off of a single server, which both sides can access.
To answer your question about teaming with them, most heroes wouldn't willingly. It's perfectly acceptable to RP a comment of how much your character really doesn't like working with the scumbag, or your villain making a remark that he hopes the hero doesn't trip up. -
Steve chewed the inside of his mouth as he thought. They didn't have time to dig... But if the Masters got to him first... "Alright, anyone who can help move these rocks, do it now. The rest of you, follow me back to base."
He activated his teleporter, fading back home. Arrow did the same, knowing another exploding shot would really just make more of a mess of things. -
Steve brushed himself off, about to congratulate the group, when his mind suddenly clicked with the realization that something was off. He took a quick tally of the people with darting eyes and sighed.
"I... I'm guessing by what you said, he... He's got a form of-" Steve couldn't bring himself to say "back-up plan," all because if the answer was no... Well...
Arrow bowed his head for a moment. He also had the nagging sensation they really shouldn't be sticking around for long. Even if they lost one, they needed to head back to base before more troops showed up.
-----------------
Sybil sighed and let her arms lower. It took quite a large amount of effort to stop a dozen titanium walls from slamming down... Silently, she cursed her old age and turned back to the matter at hand.
She was actually rather surprised by Thule's answer. Not only had he given her everything her own scouts new, but also other information about the interior.
Sybil waved a hand and Thule found himself free to move about. "But what then would you consider the next step for yourself?" -

Something I've been curious about.
Do any of the Devs roleplay when they play COX?
Or how about in relation to the Big Eight?
Do Matt or Jack or any of the rest read the dialogue written for the NPC/Enemy Appearances of their signature characters and say, "No, Posi would NEVER say that." or "Statesman would NEVER have 3 lumps of sugar in his tea ... change the emote!"
Just idle curiousity I suppose.
(Though I have to admit that I'm REALLY curious about how Matt liked the Posi/Synapse relationship in the book Freedom Phalanx. I really wanted to know if they were that close once why they wind up bickering as at least one of the plaques in the game suggests they do.)

Whichever Dev that logs onto Ghost Widow frequently stays in character when she makes her appearances. As for the others, it all depends on the reason they're there, I suppose. -
I have one who will enjoy a reason to be back in Paragon City legally, and would even consider switching sides, but the rest really are seeing it as a more of a "This is what must be done to survive" situation.
On the other hand, a lot of my heroes really don't like the idea of having to smash Longbow. Even if I personally like it for teh hawt badges. -
((Edited my post now that I'm thinking somewhat coherently.))
-
Sybil was holding her hand up for silence as she kept another pressed firmly against her head. Her eyes were shut tight, and she began to shake with strain.
------------------
Steve made sure the civilians were out, then began directing the others through the exit as the wall of fire rushed closer. If they didn't move quickly, they would be incinerated. Arrow quickly leapt out, blinking in the sudden flash of sunlight. -
((Sorry you guys, been real sick lately, on top of out of town. Not a fun combo. Now, let's try to get back on track.
))
They ran quickly, and explosions in the back could be heard clearly. The androids calmly followed as they waited for the Phase Shifting effects to wear off.
Steve saw the door coming up ahead, and cried out, but not in joy. A pile of rocks had slid down, covering the door. Before he could yell an order, Arrow had drawn and fired. The grenade-tipped projectile soared and exploded on the rocks, blasting enough of them away for the others to squeeze out.
The wall of fire was coming into sight now, and the androids were beginning to regain their opacity. "Quick, ones with civilians go first!" Steve shouted. -
Sybil grimaced at Thule's answer. She had half-hoped she could get multiple answers easily by claiming he hadn't given a good enough one. Then again, if necessary, there was always forceful intrusion.
But even as she thought of it, the idea suddenly slipped away from her. The feeling was disconcerting, but a voice in the back of her head told her not to worry about it. Instead, she asked, "What are the defenses in Elitist's tower?" -
"What I want," said Sybil as she paced around Thule, "is for you to tell me something that will prove to me you are no longer with the Masters. Some secret theirs."
-
The robots armor held fairly well, though to the Resistance fighter's credit, they didn't escape the attack unscathed before Twilight shoved them out of this reality.
One examined a gaping hole in its stomach while the other held a lit finger to a falling apart arm, repairing the damage. The other two merely waited, their cold faces incapable of emotion.
"Let's not wait for them to get back," said Steve, shifting Windsong on his back and rushing quickly past the androids. Arrow nodded, picking back up his civilian and carrying her with them. A small cube floated behind him; Bip, the targeting drone, keeping watch on the androids. -

((Beebs was out late. Borders ftw. I might post video of crazy amount of people >.> ))
Elitist watched as Apex's vitals took a sudden flatline. He sighed. The assassin was a useful asset. He paid no attention as the Master's image on the screen faded away, keeping his eyes on the keypad as he confirmed the base's destruction.
---------------
It would be obvious to Toy very quickly that Tyrant had recently improved his designs. The first shots fired on them pinged off harmlessly, and return fire followed soon after.
Their right arms each split open and folded back to reveal arm cannons. They raised to fire, shooting a bright, searing hot charge.
Their aim seemed more to capture however, shooting for less vital areas. But upon contact, one was likely to lost most of their skin on that area.
Just then the cavern shook. Steve cursed. "They're trying to blow the whole place!"
Arrow groaned. Partially because of the explosion, but also because the last four arrows he fired all snapped upon contact with the hard armor of the bots.
"We need to get out of here!" shouted Steve above the now increasing roar. -

((Thule was taken out of the room. Here, probably should've added this to make it clear. >.>;; ))
The soldiers continued leading Thule through a series of tunnels until the surfaced in the back of what seemed to be a large warehouse. He soon found himself standing in front of a large, stone chair.
An old woman in black robes stepped from behind it, taking a seat. "You seem to be either very lucky, or very foolish," she stated.
