You know I'll be there
I have a few characters I could possibly bring along but will definately bring along my Kapow! photographer for part of the evening ^^ -
Article Process: (Just so people know what I have and can see where the holes are (ie everywhere!))
- All Your Base - tour of the Steampunk Space Pirates ship The Rustbucket
- Steampunk Quiz(zes)
- Ideas for questions for Tom Orrow have been sent
- 4 other article ideas sent to potential writers of them (waiting to hear back)
I have ideas for filler articles too, I just want to see what others come up with first before signing myself up for writing everything! -
That's great to hear ^^
If you'd like to be involved there are several things you can do. Any sort of article would be a godsend. Whilst I can take pictures and write articles myself it cuts down times and adds to the amount of content for others to write things and send screenies my way!
Would any of your (or anyone else reading this' (*prod!*)) characters write an article themselves? About who they are? Something they believe in? Their style? (etc etc)
Also as you say you're into the music side of the genre maybe you could write an article on that or at least throw a list of suggested tracks at me. -
Thanks Al!
I'm thinking to get this done I'm going to set a slightly flexible deadline for submissions of about 2 weeks - I'm hoping to put in finishing touches and get it out by the end of the month -
Right.
My husband is back at work following his time off ill and I finally have both the time and enthusiasm to put into this, in fact I finished an article for it today.
Considering the steampunk pack launched today I thought now would be the time to poke people again to see if they have any article ideas etc
I'll have questions PMed to you Liz within the hour! -
-
An update from me; my husband is signed off work ill, I have been spending spare time with him so this has stalled a little. He's back to work in the middle of this coming week however so I'll get back to poking people over this then.
Also, for those with Steampunk Space Pirates: Their ship is complete ^^ (save adding a lil clutter here and there) -
Busy busy weekend for me. Some prompting questions will be with you tomorrow or Monday Liz!
-
I'm now @Chaos Bunny, same old bunny just more chaotic again ^^
-
Thanks guys! You rock
As said on the Corp forums Al I welcome the help ^^
For those that would like to help and lack inspiration a few ideas for articles are:
- Pros and Cons of Steampunk (both aethestics and compared to more modern tech etc)
- Tips on achieving a steampunk look
- Steampunk stories/poems/other fictiony stuff
- Articles on Nemesis (pro and con)
- The growth of Steampunk in Paragon/The Isles
- Interviews with steampunk heroes/villains
I also welcome IC ads for characters/businesses etc and filler for the back of the mag. After the Valentines issue I am tempted to see if I can get enough interest to run a meta/metafan lonely hearts page too.
Of course that's the vaguest of lists and if people come up with ideas/are working on something let me know to save peoples doing stuff potentially clashing.
Quote:Any chance of a writeup from his point of view on some of his travels or his abilities? If you're not comfortable writing it from scratch I can send some prompting questions for an interview instead. I can meet you ingame to nab some screenies to go with or as with the Liz interview you can throw your own at me -

I really think I suffer too much with an overabundance of ideas and projects and a lack of time and focus! I'm glad to see there's some enthusasm for the return of Kapow! I really did push myself too much and burn out last time so hopefully this time I won't take on too much.
One day, one day I will time manage better! -
((With the upcoming steampunk pack I have a renewed excitement and interest in my steampunk creations and I'm sure I'm not alone!
My looking at older creations got me wanting to revive a few old projects, one of which being Kapow! (Seeing 'Rogue' magazine helped with this too!) So, I plan to do a themed issue of my metafanzine. I'll be putting together as much content as I can but welcome submissions!
If you have a steampunk character/base/piece of fiction that you'd like to see in IC print; speak up! I will do some interviews and take some screenshots however if you definately want to see your idea included there is more chance of it if you write the article/take the shots yourself and mail/PM them to me - I'm willing to put work in but writing, taking pictures and editting it all by myself takes a lot of time!
If I have fun with this and people are happy contributing I may do a more serious issue in a month or a few! (Possibly something on Praetorian issues) )) -

Due to a change in RL plans I won't be able to make it tonight. I will be keeping an eye on this thread and taking part in stuff as best I can.

Featured Content!
- Hero: Unbeweglich
- Character: Wyld Card
- Group: Zero Strykers

Many thankyous to those who nominated and I hope to see more nominations in the future! -
Quote:Not necessarily, The Corporation have turned up at heroic plot meetings in the past under the promise of potential pay (though usually the heroes tended to expect help without the pay because 'It's serious this time' so lead to The corp leaving pretty swiftly) so it's open to intrigued mercs if some heroes are worried enough to throw around money/favours to bolster numbers.but wouldn't that limit it to just hero side meeting with hero and villain with villain?
Some villains are proactive in things like Vanguard because whilst up to nefarious things they'd like the earth to be the way it is ('Saved the World... for later' syndrome is a biggy here)
And then there are those that would jump on any excuse to meet openly with heroes, get a feel for whats going on blueside to further their personal plans.
That said if the Council flops there's nothing to stop a later hero meet and villain meet for the two (or many more!) sides to plan to protect the earth/exploit the situation seperately. -
Well, real life nommed a bunch of my time, but this should be reasonably up to date. I'll be transferring a copy of all of this onto the Handbook tomorrow but in the meantime feel free to yell if you want any locations added here.
-
Quote:The major problem with this is time allowance; from running past community events I've learnt it's best to pick a date and stick solidly to it, to push the initial council back will push the whole plot back and if we aren't careful it leads to cramming a whole lot of RP into a short time rather than letting it brew. Some what iffy on the meta-gaming side.
Can't you arrange emergency meetings for after the event has started, rather than having characters with the amazing ability to check the city of heroes website?
That said I do agree that knowing the date would be iffy. However with the incarnate TFs we've seen an advance party invasion so expecting a bigger push to occur wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility so the Council could meet to discuss the invasion they expect to see hit soon and plan. The issue I'd have with a meeting during the invasions is that a significant chunk of my characters would be out in the field helping at the time, not sitting discussing it.
Whilst the initial post does imply it will just be representatives of major supergroups, that doesn't stop others getting involved. Community meetings in the past have drawn in many people, from larg groups to individuals, but a lonely merc heading in should possibly expect to see more focus given to the leaders of larger groups as that's only fitting IC (but it does give the RP opportunity to make ones point heard amongst the 'bigger dogs')
As for 'other factions' RP, I am happy to help arrange ideas if needed - I can maybe even pencil in another Mercenaries Ball at the start of the invasions, have those of a true mercenary bent offer their services and see if they get hired to help defend the earth or if a sneaky praetorian gets in to use their services to further Cole's plans, -
*Prods* Hey guys I would love to see some nominations for featured content as so far my nominees are down to someone nominating one of my pages (Which is a huge compliment but I'd love to see the love shared around!)
Otherwise I'm going to have to go ahunting myself! -
It never got entirely off of the ground for much RP stuff, but, a base for pro-invasion RP could come from The Loyalist Network though that would work best for small group RP rather than big meetings, big meetings draw attention. Maybe smaller meetings with news of the topics discussed fed through the network (this also leads to the fun 'chinese whispers' effect)
-
Just a quick tweak in your info Pious.
The Foundry is run ooc by myself and @Alcione, but the Corporation is run IC by my character Aquis and the board of directors and the best ooc contacts to add are ny own and @Q. (Plus half of the Corp can be nabbed on URP if needed you just need to yell loudly enough!) -
Thanks guys, I will be updating the list as and when I get time between other projects
