Not this again...
Mutation is not even remotely limited to "animal parts". Mutation can be anything, from hellish psuedo-demons to gooey psuedo-aliens and furry beasts.
This pack covered a small subset of the genre it's representing; like all other booster packs. Some are happy about it, some are not.
There is nothing to be "concerned" about. It's not like everyone will quit the game just cause they didn't get furry tails.
Every single player on CoH wants something, and every issue, they expect that one thing to be released. I've been wanting my stupid spiked leather wristbands since Issue 6!!! What makes "animal parts" so special?Plus, spiked leather wrist bands are way easier to make! I made one in Maya in 6 minutes!
And also, helpful tip: There is already a thread stickied on top of this very forum covering this same topic, more or less. -
I have no idea what fur and "animal parts" has anything to do with mutations specifically...
To me mutation is exotic abnormalities in otherwise-normal species. While that may include fur and animal parts, it's not limited to it.
I would've been disappointed if this pack was full of dog heads and fox tails.
It seems lots of people were expecting this pack to be "Booster V: Animals" pack. But it's not. And they're all furious now. While this pack isn't all too "Mutant"y, I don't think it's far from it either. It's generic enough to allow lots of concepts to use it, and yet it's exotic enough to count as "exotic abnormalities" for "otherwise-normal" species.
Or maybe I just love this pack cause I am a huge Witchblade fan! -
Quote:Yes. Please. This would be really awesome. On a slightly related note, I would also likely to agree that the Bioluminescent stripes should be an Detail option without the scales, either in this pack or as a separate addition to the game. This would allow many new options for characters with glowing tattoos or runic magic on their bodies. Perhaps this could even be a way to facilitate both the bones from Organic Armor and these stripes onto a more skin-like/Tops with Skin option for both male and female models.
I'm already in love with this set, and this suggestion would make the possibilities of it a lot more diverse. -

Quote:It doesn't. But that's not my concern (or that of many people who like the prompt).... Yes you do. And now you have to click the prompt eveytime as well.
Not to mention the gazillion buffs that are without prompt.
This line of reasoning just doesn't make ANY sense.
People like me, who like the prompt, want this prompt feature implemented as an optional feature for all ally buffs! This includes Speed Boost, Clear Mind, etc.
The prompt that came with the Fortune buff was a step in the right direction for people like us, and when they removed it, most of us lost hope of this ever growing onto other powers. But now our hope is restored! It doesn't have anything to do with just the Fortune buff. At least not for me and people I know who enjoy the prompt. -
Quote:And you work in which branch of Paragon Studios, may I ask? It's an engine limitation. You would need to completely rework the engine to accomplish this.
Besides, the person is suggesting something. Sometimes something new does require modifications to the engine. And sometimes developers feel that certain features would be worth the time and resources in modifying the engine; such as Power Customization in Issue 16. I'm not entirely sure if power customization required modification to the engine, but that's the implication I got from reading Back Alley Brawler's posts. -
So when do I consider my character done?
When I'm finally bored of it! -
Quote:Yup! They help a great deal! I think they're not going for too high cause they're so common. Honestly the whole temp power business is one of the best features of Issue 17. I love them! That is total win right there!
I have been very surprised that the envenomed daggers aren't more popular. They completely shut down the regen of a giant monster and seriously cripple the regen of an AV. Plus they do a solid 100-160 damage on their own. I don't understand why these things are not selling at the same price as the backup radio and kinetic dampener even with their higher drop rate. But I hardly care, I'll take 'em if you don't want them =)
Oh! Recovery Serum. Another REALLY useful one for low levels. -
On my Mastermind, I have a full attack chain of temporary powers for when I don't need to act as support. The temporary powers don't use Mastermind's hilarious damage scale.
Hand Grenades are especially powerful, along with Stun Grenades.
I also like finishing off minions with the Baseball Bat. It's just too epic!
One time, I was doing the ITF. I saw this surgeon, cast Petrifying Gaze on him, then I just casually walked up to him, took out a baseball bat, and beat the crap out of him. It was hilarious. xD -
Energy Aura is not a joke set at all. It can actually be quite powerful if built right. However, it's one of the weaker defensive sets for several reasons.
As mentioned before, positional defense is superior.
I don't think Repel is useless to Stalkers. It's a very good power if you're in a sticky situation (just toggle and de-toggle it really quick and watch enemies fly away while you recover or run away; I learned this from Swan! Don't always keep it on like a toggle!).
The stealth for Brutes is a little counter-intuitive, but it helps players who wanna make more of a Stalkerute!
Meanwhile, Energy Drain is a really powerful endurance recovery tool. The heal component of it is just laughable.
The only complaint I have about the set is Conserve Power. A set that has such a good endurance recovery mechanism like Energy Drain doesn't need Conserve Power! Energy Drain makes it obsolete! It's just a useless power sitting there, eating up the set's power slots.
In my opinion, Energy Drain needs to get an Energize treatment. I think Conserve Power needs to be replaced with a "Defense Buildup" (like the one in Soul Mastery for Stalkers) or something cooler (Reflective Shield, anyone? redirects a percentage of attacks to enemies who cast them? Come on, it's fit the concept and be cool!).
Other than that, it's not THAT BAD of a set, really. -

I wonder if there has been any stability/performance fixes for Ultra Mode that didn't make it to patch notes...

I was one the people who was in favour of the prompt because of griefing. However, after the removal of the prompt in Issue 17, I realized that I was wrong cause I got no one to grief me, or anyone else with that power. I also realized that the one-minute recharge takes care of that.
But I didn't change sides! Why?
Cause I still prefer the prompt just so I can know WHO is giving me a fortune buff so I can return the favour. So I'm happy about this change! -
Quote:And you're equating a simple request to join this social interaction with something "impolite".((In this game there is social interaction between individual human beings. Manners play a major role in human interaction.))
Yes, if I'm playing soccer with a bunch of my friends, and some random dude comes into the field and POLITELY asks to join us, it can be annoying. Impolite, however? No. Not at all. Why? Cause I'd have to momentarily stop my game and give them a response. They are not insulting me, or trying to intrude my privacy. If I ignore them entirely by not giving a response, now THAT would be rude.
If I'm NOT playing soccer, and I don't even have the slightest implication on me that I am playing soccer, and a random person asks to join me in playing soccer, then that's neither annoying, nor rude. It's just stupid.
Equating a request to join your team with something "rude" or "impolite", such as a player griefing you, or insulting you is simply invalid by common definitions of the word "rude". Sure, you can have your own definition of "rude". But don't tell us that we should have the same definition. -
I just think people are mixing up the words "rude" and "annoying".
-
I wouldn't call sending tells and asking to join teams rude. Some of the tells I've gotten that were like that were actually really polite and friendly. I even ended up just randomly conversing with the person on several occasions.
But I do think it's a little stupid and a time-waster for the person sending the tells.
What's even more funny is that over 3 times, I've gotten these tells while I was base editing. I wasn't in a team. And my zone status was "Super Group Base". And I was level 50. And I see a tell like "Got room on your team for a Stalker?"...
At that point, I just facepalm... -
Quote:Didn't you know? Video gaming is serious business, and we should listen to random people who, very loudly, try to dictate us what problems we should, or should not be having, or what we should, or should not do!Standing on your own is an excellent quality in real life, and completely irrelevant to a pretendy fun time game.
At this point, I'm actually not sure which of us is trolling the other. You seem to be getting remarkably exercised over the idea that someone, somewhere, might not be working as hard on playing a game as you think they ought to. -
Quote:Yah, I'm all for it too. I'm all for anything that gives us more customization options!Right now, you can use several emotes while in flight but not moving. Some of them have additional bobbing specifically when in flight, yoga is one of these. You can even float downward without breaking the pose, which allows you to combine tilting back and floating down to fly about butt-first. However, if you fly in any other direction, you will break out of the pose.
What is being asked for, I think, is that something like /em sit or /em yoga be added as flyposes, which you can activate while flying forward. Considering that the animation for a bobbing yoga hover is already in the game, allowing it to be used as a forward flypose would probably require less work than anything requiring an entirely new set of animations.
For what it's worth, I'm for it. I was for it about a year ago when I suggested it, too, and when I PM'd BAB asking whether it was possible. I got no response then, but I wish you better luck. -
Can't you already do that? I remember having a male character that was meant to be in a wheelchair, so I used Hover and one of the male sitting emotes. Not sure if it'd work on female versions of the emotes...

Quote:I actually like your slotting. One of my issues that I have to almost always burn a small blue or two when I'm summoning all my pets and upgrading everything, purely because Dark Servant uses 1/3 of endurance bar. So I like the discount a lot.So, a few things:
1. Note that the 95.6% Rech is almost what you have, however, since there is an IO Set Bonus of 6.25% which is unaffected by ED, the Rech for the DS will be 101.85%. Plus, that 6% global recharge for all your powers.
2. The heal of the Dark Servant doesn't come as often as you want when you want and where you want for anyone's survival except for the DS. Not worth it to enhance it, IMO.
3. The EndDisc seems like a lot, but the DS uses *a lot* of END to cast. This amount of EndDisc is the difference between the DS sucking 1/3 of of your END bar down to 1/5 of your END bar.
Everything else seems fine, and as much as I'd like to slot some heal in there, I think that's the best I can get by maximizing what DS is actually good at. Thanks a lot!
