Quote:When you get exactly what you want, it tends to cost more. That is way to harsh to be useful, at 5000 tickets for 1 merit you're much better off spending the tickets on random rolls. If you do Rare Recipe Rolls that gives you 20 merits = 4000 tickets. So 1 merit = 200 tickets. Now Reward Merits are slightly more valuable than tickets since you can do direct buys and convert them to A-Merits so I'd say set the price at 250-300 tickets.
PvP and Purple IOs cost even more so.
I'd say with the current system the 5000 tickets equals 1 Reward Merit is likely the most likely outcome for such a system being added.
Figure there are farmers who can zip through the content and be racking them up if it was much lower. -
Well this is all traumatic memory. Not all memories. However, I would think you could just as easily get the fear back with a new traumatic experience.

Hey...I don't remember Power Girl wearing tights.

Oooo...I can't wait to see it! I hope it's good!

Quote:Ever heard of "Teenage Boy Who Hits Things With Powerful Energy Blasts?"**Disclaimer - The following is a biased opinion**
Might I suggest the glorious pairing of a Ninja Blade with your Ninjitsu?
Not only does it possess the sexiest of all AS animations, but the melee defense buffing potential for DA combined with the "finesse" Golden dragonfly mini-cone results in a stalker that looks as good as it plays.
Not only that, but taking the full on way of the ninja allows for immense variation in slotting utility, running the entire gamut from simple softcapping to raw damage potential, Nin/Nin is the way to go.
But wait, there's more!
Not only will you find yourself a master of melee combat capable of evading ANY and ALL melee attacks with even simple SO slotting, but you get the choice of eleven, count them ELEVEN instruments of death as beautiful as they are deadly. From the rugged Rusted Blade to the glowing Vanguard Katana, there is sure to be a ninja blade to fit your specific character concept.
And lets face it. Ninjas are cool. You could certainly pick up a similar weapon in a scrapper set, but lets face it. Without the ability to swiftly and decisively SHOVE your instrument of death through the chest of your enemy before he can react, THRUST his best friend in the the air, CRUSH his prone form in to oblivion with a single downward stroke, and then simply WAVE the poor sap watching your ballet of death goodbye seconds before repeating the process you're just not ninja material. You're a guy that hits things with a katana.
Ever heard of "Teenage Guys Who Hit Things With Swords and are also Turtles"?
Nope.
How about the cult 80s classic "American Guy Who Hits Things With a Sword"
No. You haven't.
That's because the word you're looking for is NINJA. To strike with precision. To be without peer in single combat. To kill all of his friends to make sure you're in single combat. To speak only in riddles and DEATH. This is what Ninja Blade can give you. This is the way of the ninja.
So I encourage you. Go. Hunt. Kill EVERYTHING with the quiet grace than only Ninja Blade can deliver.
No. You haven't.
That's because he's a ninja! And he doesn't need a sword! He has his Rasengan! \o/

Quote:I agree. It's why I prefere CoH over that other MMO.
The entire "it's unrealistic" argument is invalid even BEFORE all that!
If City of Heroes artistic team showed, in the slightest, that they are actually aiming for a realistic style of art with realistic characters in a potentially realistic world (like, you know, Mass Effect, or Fallout 3, or Crysis, or a bunch of other games that really made an effort in trying to give us 'realistic' graphics and art), then yah. Unrealistic boobs would not fit the world.
And guess what! In NONE of the games I just used as an example, do we get 'unrealistic' boob sizes.
But CoH is aiming for a comic-book style of art! Comic book style of art is not even remotely close to "realistic". So why does CoH have to be "realistic"?!??!?!?! Can someone please explain this logical loophole to me pretty please?! xD
Edit: It's like someone watching a generic anime show and going "Hrm! Those hairstyles look awfully unrealistic! That is disgusting!". We're playing in a world with a dozen furry catgirls around every corner, demons and angels chilling in a night club, and people shooting energy out of their eyes. And suddenly their breast sizes are unrealistic?!? If people didn't get worked up over these things, then maybe, just MAYBE, the world would stop sexualizing such trivial things so much.
I like how CoH has a very comic book style of art. And I wouldnt want it changed. -
Quote:I think a lot of people would just keep taking Fitness.I'm not sure of this.
I take stamina if, and only if, I tend to run out of endurance. On characters that don't run out of endurance, I'm unlikely to spend the slots. A 30% reduction in endurance consumed would likely, for most of my characters, make me not bother with stamina. Sure, it'd be occasionally useful, but it wouldn't be the difference between resting every fight and continuing through missions without stopping.
Yeah, you hear about the few who say they don't. But how many times have you heard the compaints of END use/drain? People would take that 30% cut, and still grab Stamina, to avoid any and all end issues.
And truthfully, that's what I find a lot of people want, they don't want to deal with it at all. -
Okay...some questions on this. Currently at level 43 \o/ But, I have some questions!
First, what's a good attack chain to go with?
So far, I've skipped Fire Cages, but as I continue to level, I find (and maybe it's just my playstyle) I don't tend to rely on the knockdown/knockback of Earth Assault.
With Hasten, and my Global Recharge, I find Flashfire and Cinders just comes up pretty often not to be a worry.
I also tend to rely on my single target big hitters. Stone Spears has just gotten little use except when I exempt down.
So, looking for thoughts on other Fire/Earth Doms, as I work on my build for i19. -
Should still be 15% chance to crit.
However, Stalker version of EC doesn't have the +33% chance to crit on next attack.
Instead it has a higher base damage. -
Quote:My point was purely on the complaints that come with max slider.God, why would you even want to go max length with legs? Even the default is weirdly long. Going beyond that takes you into strange mutant leg person territory. I've seen women with pretty large breasts, but nothing like what this game can do with legs. It's freakish.

I've seen women who naturally had what all those who complain about "being unrealistic"...it's not common, no...but there are women who do. So the "unrealistic" (whether or not the game makes it looks good is up to personal opinion) arguement is invalid imo.
However, get a toon who's leg sliders are maxed, and it's nothing. No "it's unrealistic" arguements (mind you, I've seen some OMG those are some long legs before too).
Basically, I find the arguement for "unrealistic" not to make sense. If they said "you know that's not common" I'd see it more, but if they just said "it wasn't common" they'd have nothing to complain about.

Hmmm...you know...Defeat so many Crey (or just go with the Paragon Protector Badge), you unlock the Crey Pistol weapon skin

I would love to Dual Wield that pistol! -
Quote:How often do the EU players come to the site though? Also, when they post them, isn't a lot later in the day for a lot of EU players? We're the EU, though. We have much more time to claim things. In previous giveaways, I've logged onto the forums the day after the giveaway was posted, read that Avatea said 'we still have some EU ones! Quick!' a few hours after posting, and still managed to waltz in and claim a code.

Quote:It's more than just taking awhile that kept it from happening this way.4. I agree with the idea that there was a simpler way to do this. I was thinking of simply reduing every single power's endurance use by exactly 30% but I understand that would take awhile. We also wouldn't get the other lovely bonuses that come with free fitness.
If they just went about applying a 30% END reduction to every single power, people would still take Fitness to get Stamina, and it would be the majority of people, just as it is now.
So, what would change? Nothing. People would still complain about END issues, because people don't want to be slowed down.
Fitness free, makes it so people can have more varied builds (with Fitness they weren't as varied), and make it so people don't feel forced into anyone power pool (outside of PvP
)
Oh look...INV/SS can now take Fighting, Fly, Super Speed, Energy Mastery and for their classic hero and not have to skip many of the INV/SS powers to take them.
Same goes for other homages and/or original concepts.
At even if it's no additional slots, it still allows people to take those concept powers they want to have for concept, even if they're not likely to use them often.

Quote:Spines is still the exception. I believe it had to do with the set needing additional tweaks if they did so.This should not be true of any Power Sets left in the game. They were all adjusted to remove the "baked in" time in Issue 11. If Spines was not adjusted in Issue 11, I believe that was because Spines already did not include the redraw time in the cast time. (It is possible that Quills makes Spines a special case. AFAIK it is the only toggle power that initiates redraw, outside of the Sheild set, and Sheild is a unique case as well)
At the time the redraw was removed, the effected sets were balanced to do the same amount of damage with a moderate amount of redraw. In the case of Claws, this took extensive rebalancing. In short, redraw is factored into the balance between the various powersets.
When you redraw a weapon, you do lose DPS. However, this does not automatically make sets with redraw "worse" than sets without redraw. You can minimize this loss of DPS by minimizing redraw, but it should never become so much worse than another set that you are significantly "gimped". Depending on how you deal with redraw over time, you should either be a little better or a little worse than a set without redraw. (Actually, other factors come into play when comparing sets to each other, and no two sets are close enough that that's really a significant factor in the comparison) -
Quote:Because a lot of people have concepts that are "I'm not a hero or villain, I'm a normal person." at which point I go "You play this genre why? You realize the game has you doing things normal people can't do anyways, right?"How the heck does Hurdle and Swift destroy concepts? A hero is athletic oh it ruins me!!

If you don't like the lower damage ATs, just dont roll them.
All the ATs have the same DMG/RCH/END formula (roughly) and what makes the difference is the Damage Mod.
So yes, higher damage mod means better DPE...untill...you know...later levels, when some of those low damage ATs are putting out more damage than the higher damage ATs. -
Quote:Sounds like you want to go with /Ninjitsu.Ok, not literally, but the Stalker AT is the only one I haven't really played by now. I rolled one up way back when CoV was new, but I failed so hard at it I abandoned the AT. I have a project that involves creating one of each AT on a chosen server and Stalkers are my last piece to the puzzle.
So, convince me to roll up a particular Stalker. I'm liking the look of Ninjitsu, probably because it is unique to Stalkers, but I'm willing to consider anything. I'm especially looking for something iconic, something Stalker-y (as opposed to Poached Scrapper). I have this idea of a warrior-assassin who takes out a target, then eliminates witnesses. One who is capable of merely wading into combat and emerging victorious, but is wise enough to engage on his terms, not his opponent's.
I'm not a min/maxer, but I don't like dying faster than Rest recharges. So, I come with questions:
- I've seen comments to the effect that Kin Melee works best on Stalkers (versus other versions), is this true? Why?
- Is it better to really focus on the single-target nature of the AT, or do the sets with AoE (esp. Elec/ and Spines/) just leave others in the dust?
- Does Willpower really work well on Stalkers? I was somewhat unimpressed by WP's numbers.
- Is it better for a mitigation set to focus on Resist, or Defense?
I'm not really into complicated IO builds, I mostly frankenslot with level 30ish IOs plus a few specials as I feel necessary (-kb, 3% +Def, whatever). So, assume slightly better than SO-level performance. No builds necessary, but tips concerning your suggested combos' synergy and tactics would be most appreciated.
Thanks, everyone.
WP does work well on Stalkers, but I also slotted up defense on my stalker.
They can't take hits like a scrapper, the hitpoints just arent there.
AOE is good. Kin Melee's PBAOE is great for the KD imo.
To play a Stalker, you're going to have to do some scrapping. Tanks, Brutes, Scrappers, Stalkers...they're melee...to play melee you need to hit things, so why you don't think you wouldn't I don't understand.
If you play the hit and run style, teams won't like it, and you're likely to get bored of it.
This could mean just running to the end of missions you can run to the end of, and ASing one, then scrapping it out with the rest of the room. But some sort of melee fighting will happen
My suggestion...Kin/Ninja...it's probably what you're looking for. -
ILL/COLD!
Illusion does damage, but it's all in their head.
Cold...well Sleet does damage, but not a lot.
Pacifist doesn't mean they can't defense themselves, and that's what you need to do!
Call the character "Sidekick X" and go to town!
-
Here's a question that works for now and i19...
For those with IOed builds, how goes the END use? Do you need a slotted up Stamina?
My Fire/Earth Dom is not quite at Perma Dom yet (close), so still has end problems (I can eat through END fast), but when the builds done, I'd like to know if I can go with 1 slotted Stamina to free up some slots.

It just dawned on me...why all the complaints with the chest slider, but you never see the complaints about the leg sliders all the way to the right?

Quote:I've seen a few make passable younger girls, while not 8, can go with an endowed 12-13 year old. Which isn't impossible.Well to be completely fair this game was launched back in 2004 and Hit-Girl premiered in a film that's only been out for 6 months. Sadly if there's any truth to the idea that the Devs purposefully made it hard to create obvious female child characters to dissuade the perverts then citing one very recent example to show that it should be allowed in this game is probably not going to be enough to change their minds.
I'd love to be able to make a Hit-Girl type character in this game without having to resort to using a small-sized male model to make her appropriately flat-chested. I just don't see when that'll ever be possible.
That said, that doesn't mean others see the toon and think 12 year old.
And even hit girl was 11 or 12 in the movie. -
Quote:Yeah...my problem came more with people hearing OOCly that it was a guy and then just knowing it was a guy.
I guess with your case it'd be a little more different if the character actually tries to pose as a female too.
My rant was mostly directed to people who pull that off, and then you approach their character and go like "Hey!!! Wussup, gurl?" and they go "(( I AM NOT A GIRL CAN YOU NOT READ MY BIO I AM AN EFFEMINATE GUY I AM NOT A GIRL WHO ARE YOU CALLING A GIRL!? ))"
And yes, I've actually had that kind of crap happen; may be not to that degree, but you get the point!
Also, I wanna give OrphanedHope a high five! That's exactly what I meant!
When they had powers to figure it out it, I didn't mind, but when they just went, "Hey guy!"
And the bio didn't even say it directly, but left subtle hints.
