  1. I thought it was okay.

the only part that really through me off was the beginning with how he saved the ship from the sun.

Just didn't seem like Superman to me.

Some of his tech seemed OMG WTF REALLY to me too. Like the future communicator

It's not the first time, and no doubt won't be the last, but Incarnates have now eaten up 2 issues in a row (I19 and I20) and I can't imagine that it won't be a sizeable part of I21 and I22 at least.

You talk about time spent on PVP, or VEATS. That doesn't apply here - because neither of those got more than one issue of dev time. Hell, City of Villains only got I6 and I7 before the focus shifted back heroside. Yet now we're on two issues and counting of big team content that focuses on a single entirely linear storyline...

If I wanted that I'd pay for a single player game. Once.
You know there are 2 level 20-40 TFs coming in i20. That's non-incarnate content.

So, does Incarnates count as as eating up i20?

You don't just get the missions at the same time and run them all at the same time when you do it that way?
  5. Not sure it's really needed, I think I'd rather have new arcs to something different, than a new way into Cim.

Like awesome new Midnighter arcs, possibly to new places!

There's no reason to think she's not liking it on what she knows.

David E Kelly has made great shows. She could easily just have confidence in what he's planning.
  7. I want big one on one fights, against AVs, no lowering them to EB status! Ones you have to build an IO build to accomplish and then you can feel like you went one on one with a real threat supervillain (or hero).

I WANT AN END GAME BUT I DON'T LIKE THE DIRECTION THE END GAME IS TAKING.

And CoV's Project: Destiny was also a bad storyline. It was a hamfisted attempt to explain why a Chaotic Evil cliche wanted your character around, and should not be imitated or held up as a good example of anything.
What isn't answered, is what DO you want for end game conent?

Just high level TFs? Well we had that.

If it's just because of the story you don't like, use your imagination and imagine it from a different angle.

I think the devs were in a no win situation with it. While they could of just added the content, and let the player decide how the character came to access these abilities, you had this other group of players who wanted everything to be delivered in story fashion, which imo was a mistake, as they put in a story for power proliferation, auction houses, enhancements, badges...ect...ect...

Apex & Tin Mage are awesome TFs. But could of just been as awesome TFs without the Ramsiel arc, which is what people wanted. A story arc to become incarnates rather than "What hey? I just run these TFs, pick a reward and become an incarnate?"

They should of realized that mistake when they suggested it.

Personally, I was okay with, "Run an ITF (or whatever TF), get the reward and then craft my incarnate ability"

As for a general comment, some of what you express is a thing CoX seems to be actively avoiding as a core value, afai can tell:

Villians can be d***s to Villains or Heroes,
But Players should never be d***s to Players.

They seem to be striving for "Mustache-twirling villains," not the "RL kind of villains" that do the kinds of things that make CNN Breaking News.**

And I am Very Thankful for that - last thing I want to hear is someone got an unconscionable idea from CoX, and the evening news gave CoX free "PR". That's heartburn none of us ever need to experience.
    ---
** - I say this, knowing that some of the eviller CoV content, and more of the Praetorian content, is pushing the boundaries on this statement...

And BTW, BrandX, if you think dirty pictures are the only reason to rate a game "Mature", have you ever heard of Grand Theft Auto??
o.O Where did I ever say that?

I was talking about, oh hey look, I shot a fireball at a civvie and they...crumpled over.

I can go into a PvP zone with a bunch of players dressed as civvies, walking about waving at everyone and just throw fireballs at them.

Same effect. Taking out civvies (does it really matter that they're players pretending to be civvies or does it make that big of a difference) and...they just crumple over.

Grand Theft Auto, last I knew had, well, blood (never played the game), but I was under the impression no blood vs blood made a difference in the rating, not the civvie or super aspect.

So the question is if pvp can retain a userbase outside of the hardcore pvpers, particularly in a game that a portion of the playerbase anecdotally claims to have come here to avoid it.
    Well, I say had, as...

    1) I read the other post first, so was refering to it in the past tense.

    2) It could of also been a past amount of subscirbers (there was mention in the thread that the list could be old).

And last I knew, the server merging on there had less to do with less players, and more to do with PvP oriented game, didnt need that server no one but a few played on.

Once I got tired of fighting street battles in one, I'd go to another, seeking the zone badges. I think I saw two other players that entire time, which was over the course of 7 or 8 levels when I got to 35.

As you says, only Recluse's Victory had any number of players in it, but I would often find it empty on Guardian. It's a myth PvP was fine before I13 -- it was just as anemic then. The best thing about the changes is that we no longer have the worst of the juvenile tools running around the forums now.
I was playing on Virtue and in Arena, so higher population could of made a difference.

Surely by the time players have broken out of the Zig in CoV, they've graduated above the rank of street mugger. Besides, CoH favors a more encompassing view of heroes - Gold, Silver, Bronze, and whatever-metal-we're-currently-in Ages.

What a peculiar definition of "fun". Moreover, when a certain recent game allowed players to attack civillians, it generated some ... controversy.
I was thinking more along the lines of Image comics (Spawn comes to mind). Not DC or Marvel.

Whether it's fun or not, is really up to the player. I prefere to play heroes, and even when I play redside, I tend to fashion (in my head not by going by the story arcs) that my character is a hero.

I also gave a way for the one poster to do basically what they wanted to do, as it'd be the same thing.
  16. At the very least, when I see that costume, I can imagine it int he comics and still see it as Wonder Woman (in the comics it wouldn't look so shiney, and in the show it may not look as shiney either...I think people keep forgetting this is a publicity shot...lighting of the show can make it look completely different).

They took her outfit, and gave her leggings (I don't think you'll ever see a WW movie with her in the bikini bottoms...while I believe it can work, I dont think it'll happen). IMO, it beats the hell out of that new jim lee created modern WW outfit

She looks like a superhero (okay, a bit plasticy in that photo, but still a superhero styled look)! How she should be!

Haven't seen the directors cut of the original highlander, however, in the theatrical release, it was mortality, and that he could have kids.

Have to agree, the mortality is kinda sucky. It always made me wonder why any of the evil immortals would want the prize.

  18. My suggestion. If you have the time to run those longer TFs for the badge credit, you have time to wait till it's Apex or ITF, and you can get on teams and just run them fast to get the badge credit.

The badge is earned by helping on WSTs when you've already accomplished the task. It should remain that way. IMO anyways.

That leaves 5% of the MMO audience. Developers are better off simply ignoring that tiny portion of the gaming audience in favor of better things. PvP in CoH is widely regarded as the single biggest waste of resources by players and critics alike. Imagine what we could have if they hadn't wasted all that time and money on those zones, which even on Freedom and Virtue stand empty 99% of the time.

They'd be better off converting the PvP zones to co-op zones and remove PvP entirely from this game.
They stand empty because of the changes brought in. Was it as popular as they might have liked? No. But it was more popular and I always saw at least RV with people in it.

The mistake may have been in putting in different level zones for PvP. Everyone I have played with online who PvPed either occaissionaly or all the time, all prefered one thing...to PvP at level 50, with access to every power they had.

[Edit] As for another thought, I can't imagine those numbers being correct, when another link showed Aion (a PvP game) had 1 million subscribers.

Damn those gritty 90's super hero comics, where bad guys did just that!

If it kept it to the same graphics as it does with other enemies, I don't see why it would increase the rating of the game (not that the rating means much anyways).

Not like it would be any XP at all either. People would have their fun and really get nothing out of it.

However this is easy to replicate in game. Get to a high level, and start mugging Hellions! It's really no different than going after pedestrians.

Limiting yourself to one side over the others is really a personal choice in the player. Instead of thinking one side has it easier or rougher than the other, just realize you get to play both sides with whatever character you want, just by making a choice.

Do you make one character and go Rogue/Vigilante? Do you make several and place them all over Blue/Red.

Don't find redside perticularly harder than blue side myself. Blue side lacks the awesomeness of the Marino story arc though.

    Future of CoX..

Well, CoX isn't trying to cross platform to PS3's, so that's a notch in it's favor, and the other game will fail.

Console gamers do not want to pay monthly fees (there are exceptions of course). For everyone I know who plays consoles, who's idea of a computer game is something from Facebook, they all said the same thing, they'd never buy a game to pay a monthly fee to play it.

I've yet to see one change their mind.

PC gamers don't want to deal with a lack of controls.

CoH doesn't have it's costume pieces locked into drops that don't happen to drop that often or early in the game.

Putting an MMO into Consoles was someone's brillant idea that, multi-platforming and a well known IP, would bring in the big name of MMO numbers.

    Obviously, that was wrong.

The competitor could of been a big hit (not likely 12million subscribers big), if it looked at it's own future competitor (CoH) and went in game and on the forums, and thought to themselves, how could we improve this and put our well known IP spin on it.
  23. While there was a vocal "I want to play a villain" player base, I don't know if it was ever really that BIG of a group.

I still get the feeling, over all, that people would rather play the hero versus the playing the villain. Not from a, are the story arcs better or not stand point, just an over all stand point.

As for the story arcs, redside feels more like a "you're the lackey" type (imo anyways), and doesn't get much better in the level 50 mark in that feeling (again imo).

I think part of this, is with how things works from an MMO stand point. Going to contacts works for heroes. Going to other people for a villain, seems like a "I cant do my own evil".

PvP, I usually found when one side got to hammered in numbers, people would switch sides if they had toons on the otherside (I did it on occaission myself...that said, with i13, I dont consider any of my characters pvp viable anymore).

And with the new PvP (or current, its not new per se), I don't like how it plays. :/ Mez shields being dropped, having to retoggle my toggles, not because I got mezzed by so many mezz's but because one person hit me twice.
  24. I think I'm just used to picturing end of Xena, Lucy Lawless, versus beginning of Xena.

Same thing happens when I picture Wesley from Angel. I think of end of Angel, Wesley, rather than the Wesley you see in Buffy/Season 2 Wesley.

So, Lucy Lawless just never seems like the right pick for Wonder Woman to me. So yeah, younger Lucy Lawless for sure could of fit the bill.

Agreed. However, the actress they have now looks like she eats.

And really don't care for Lucy Lawless being cast as Wonder Woman, she just doesn't look the part to me either (not that the current one cast does, but I hate hearing Lucy Lawless, when it's only because she did Xena that people say it).
