  1. I always am visible and have a LFT flag up because I run in PUGS mostly.

Back in the day I never, or rarely, would as I got wayyy too many random invites. I don't care what anyone else says, but now I can keep a LFA flag up for an hour and not get a bite. On Virtue. In prime time.

Only fairly sure way to get a team now is to pimp in server chans + Request + BC in a couple zones and hope for a non AE team.

Edit: come to think of it the only time I might /hide is when I am going for Shivans.

    I > Team

If some people don't like folks who play at a breakneck speed and do their own thing in missions then it will only get worse for them blueside when Brutes appear.
  3. The worst thing about the Shard is: No one seems to know wtf it is, where tf it is, and wtf to do with it if they happen to find it. Joe and Jane Average I mean.

I go sometimes to sweep the Storm Palace, specifically just for the Brutes, and maybe some Elementals (Wisps + the terrain are just too annoying for a pbaoe Tank). I then advertise in PI, Request, and a couple server chans for peeps that might want to join me. Invariably I get a lot of "wth is that?", "wait, what?"...

The Devs should pimp the Shard more somehow, around lvl 35 at least.

Oh, and Ruularu are no joke to defense sets, as people have noted.

Fine, fine, fine, fine, then something lands some funk on you that sticks and BAM! "Noble Brute Smashes you for 1600 damage". I'm not complaining you understand, it spices things up.

Long story short: I like the Shard and the critters (mostly), I try to get people interested and I go there for non-stop SMASH a lot, but I wish more people did.

    PS: Please add...

    Field Analyst.
    45-50 store.
Badges and the opportunity to set to a base porter.

I hope this means Ruularu will return in another zone event style invasion, at the least, and not just the COP.

  5. I joined a "top" VG once a couple years ago. Top meaning, of course, n00b churning and a vast prestige bank.

The stated rules were: Earn x amount of prestige per month without fail on every character, log in once a week without fail on all toons, wear VG costume as much as possible, and a few other minor rules.

The unwritten rules were: You'll never get into the old school clique, we'll turn you down if you are x build for our weekly LRSF as it's not optimal, we might give you some SO's if you need but we'll then critique your build, ask how much inf you have, and other annoyances. I lasted until the LRSF denial and went blueside and started my own.

    My SG rules are:

    1: Don't be a tard.

    Lag lag lag

Hi, it's 2am on a Thursday morning and the market is laggy as hell and won't process any transactions. Wait a few minutes it says. I do so. Still foo-bar, with the very occasional success in actually transacting something.
This is not an uncommon thing for me, or for lots of other people. It happens a lot and seems quite random in relation to population and activity.

    Why is that?

    Is this working as intended?

    If not, what's the plan?

Will we ever go back to the simpler and vastly more stable market?

    Annoying, market is frequently annoying.
  7. Time Bomb and, to a slightly lesser degree, Trip Mine sucks horribly on teams and even sometimes solo for obvious reasons, not the least of which is Cloaking Device just isnt good enough. Too much +Perc by everything, in other words, but mostly its the cast and interrupt times. Buncha peeps have already said this of course.

Time Bomb needs: A way to detonate it remotely when you wish OR be able to just throw it a short distance, coupled with much less cast time and much less interrupt.

Too bad we can't strap it onto the rather weak, unPortable and emminently skippable Gun Drone and send it in, or hang it on the Tank. Btw, God what I wouldnt give for the Omega Maneuver instead as other people mentioned.

Devices is marginalized and weak, period. It has a power that shows up in the Scrapper ancillary (Caltrops), another one or two that can be purchased for pennies in a pvp zone (Web Nade) and Smoke Flash (recipe) is similar to Smoke Grenade, only superior, and Plasmatic Taser (recipe) might as well be the power Taser.

    I mean, wth?!

  10. Uncontrolled, mindless Knockback makes things annoying for most everyone but the person using it.

The Stormy that opens constantly with Gale, blows everyone off the ice patch, ruins every ones AOE's and PBAOE's, then runs around with Hurricane constantly toggled might be great for soloing, but you are annoying the hell out of everyone else, and making things go much slower than necessary.
But hey, their (miniscule) damage and fun is vastly more important than everyone elses AOEs and PBAOE's right?

    Trust me on this:

Gale sucks sucktastic epicly horrible suckiness on teams. Don't be a dripping boil on the swollen scrotum of stupidity.

One of these days I'll tell you how I really feel about it.

Oh, and f you run around constantly on teams with Hurricane toggled you ARE getting laughed at, and complained about in tells.

The Squid (Kheldian) that knocks mobs around, usually further down the hall closer to the next group, usually right before everyone elses AOE go off is annoying to every melee and aoe charaqcter there. Did you know that you can fly directly above them and blast at will and do knockdown instead of knockback?

Energy Blasters I'm looking at you too.

Does your toon have KB? Do you use it in an uncontrolled and thoughtless manner? Has anyone ever mentioned why it's annoying and counterproductive on teams? If you don't, have you ever noticed this with certain sets? if so, have you bothered to try and edumacate the rookie doing it?

Admittedly, I am sorta blunt about this sorta thing and will tell people straight up what's happening and why it's annoying and slowing things down (in tells first). I sometimes end up being the bad guy as people get defensive and or pissy. Clearly, my approach needs work. What sort of comments do you use?

So instead of thinking about how the market merge will affect the market, think about how your behavior might change as a result of I18 and Going Rogue. Is your behavior typical of a significant group of a players and if so how might this effect prices?
    Great point.

I've been trying to do this for sometime. For me it'll be Crab Crabby CrabCakes all the way. What will people blueside do? City of Crabs and Widows? Not to mention Masterminds. I also have a completely unsubstantiated but strong feeling that Tanks will suffer in popularity Blueside as Brutes STOMP and SMASH all over that niche that is truly only solid until about 38-40 (Trollers)...and some TF's, and that popularity won't return.

I would guess that it'll be a huge influx of Brutes, SOA's and MM's blueside. Also, it's fun to try and consider what sort of general team composition, gameplay and tactics will end up being "the thing".6- 8 man Crab teams will be IT, btw.

I PUG and PUG/TF almost exclusively and I generally avoid AE outside of brand new characters. I will assume that a fair number of players do the same. The only thing totally sure that I've come up with so far is: What's annoying now will become more annoying coupled with new annoyances (AE and E-BAY babies, "MOVE YER DAMN PETS OUT OF THE DOORWAY, SHEESH!", etc.)

Lots of good points here I didnt consider. Thanks!

I will repeat what other people have mentioned once or twice before: the fact that such a wild and massively game inmpacting change has NOT yet generated much, if any, DOOM despite a large number of sharp people trying to look at it from every conceivable angle. This is, and of itself, quite remarkable and definately heartening.

Of course, we may be all fooling ourselves outrageously. It's the human condition after all.

Eh, maybe. I think people might be E-Bay'ing accts or something. The things I've seen and heard lately out of 30 and 40 month vets are sometimes pretty damned ridiculous.
  15. Knockback is fine.

Uncontrolled, thoughtless player generated KB is da debil.

I'm too lazy to read through the Market megathread, so...

Market merger = what? for Joe Average (me).

Keep it simple: Hoarding?, Higher prices on most everything forever?, higher prices and lower stock?, more wild swings slowly settling down to slightly higher prices?, lower prices (yeah right)?, etc.

My completely spontaneous and unscientific prediction:

Blueside peeps will buy up everything even remotely popular in sight and hoard for resale. Most everything usefull will dissappear from the Market. What does appears will be much more expensive than now for popular items. This won't change for a long time as manipulation will continue unabated. This will also spawn numerous wails and gnashings of teeth from n00bs, rookies and casuals.

Re-Zoning after getting a radio selection you don't like will enable a new offer of different choices, hopefully one more to your liking.

Sorta lame, tbh. Both the attack power bug/nerf/whatever there AND the ugly walls now.

Some guy on our team claimed his Shield Charge had a red targeting field everywhere at the Storm Palace. IE: doesnt work. Anyone else see this or is it an already known bug?
  24. What I do: Sell the big Inspirations you get from completing the Outbreak tutorial. Sell it at Wents.

    Run around and mission/patrol whatever.

Sell everything, all drops, after checking the Wents/Bm price, the useless crap I sell at a regular enhancement store.

When I get a little cash, usually in Kings Row, I might check Wents for rare (orange) recipes that I can buy for 500- 1000 (or even less). There are a lot of "useless" lvl 50 rare recipes around with a large stock and no bids. Put up some very lowball bids and go mission some more. Later, come back and check and see if you bought anything. Take crap rare recipes to nearest store and sell for a decent profit.

Use TO's (as they drop) till lvl 11. 12-21st lvl I use Dual Origins from Steel. 22-35 use Single Origin enhancements. Around 35 I either buy or create and use Common IO's. I don't bother with sets until 45-50 and then usually only on melee and particularly my tanks. Globals and procs and stuff I might use on other characters, but not much.

Only once have I ever not had enough cash through normal PUG'ing to fill out my slots at any level. Bad RNG maybe or whatever.

Also, for Blasters and whatnot, if you have a 50 then get some missions of easy foes, (least amount of mez) and run them at -1 +5 and see how it goes. Go for the purples, it only takes ONE decent purp drop to set you up. bTW, do you have Hibernate? If not, then consider setting up another build or respec and take it.

What server are you on btw? Consider rolling up a Tank or Scrapper geared for farming. Hell, I'm using an Ice/Fire Tank and it works fine on anything while I slowly level my Spines Scrapper.
