What lvl you guys are at? I've got a 45 fire/rad I've been thinking of dusting of...
-
You just couldn't refrain yourself, now could you afro?
-
Oh dear, that's me speedreading
But bear with me, who'd expect an emp troller only to heal and dont use attacking powers? Must have been a def in disguise -
So you get agro by just healing? Reasons as stated by Archy could be it.
AoE many times the case even if you are stealthy healing and if not ofcourse mobs will attack you when they just see you even when not attacking and their agro is not taken by others yet. Slap the tank, scrapper and position yourself tacticallyAgro management more a team issue then an emps.
And doesnt taking damage makes it so more exciting? Not to speak of the badges you can get
P.S. I do hope you use your secondaries as you can add much more to a team using those wisely. -
ZOMG! Did we see this right?
You started playing CoH 2 months ago and you have a lvl 50, 47, 39 and more?
Btw; Don't know what you exactly mean by healing agro. Healing is in factually agro free in CoH, except for kin and DM. Emp being by far the safest buffer of all as it is all non-foe, but ally directed. Could you be more specific? -
Word... right on the spot there kitty!
-
Okay thnx Max. Got you the first time though ;P
-
Hmmm, just wondering my lazy [censored] atm. What time again we meet up this sunday?
-
Right, I've decided not to join this second team i'm afraid.
I'm already playing 2 domis regularly now and 2 other domis on the side. That's enough domination for me for now. Want a bit of a change so probably more corrupter time for me now
Wish you lot of fun! -
Made a brand new fire/rad to join the caravan of carnage... Meet you at Kalindas 7 GMT this sunday!
@Blue Note -
All we hear is: radio googoo, radio gaga
I might wanna join with a new to be made grave/X. hmmm no slots left... -
hmmm, i want in too. just need to figure out if and what toon i might delete to free up a slot.
Not exactly painless to delete any of my carefully build toons... -
Try /TA. you might like it... Imo with earth or ice as primary. Lacks buffs and heals but very big in slows and massive control topped of with not a so strong but very versatile and nifty arsenal of debuffing.
Certainly interesting to play! -
Finally got that nice beardy toon to 50!
Absolutely well deserved and done: dinging while trampling on diaboliques gorgeous dead body
I predict a next troller coming up! -
He just did!!! Woohoo big grtz matey. You finally did it: 50! Nice evening we had all in all

Also I spent many an hour with my ss/inv Brute in Sirens Call/Warburg and could see normal stalkers (ones that just use hide) and trollers with Superior Invis quite easily with tactics and the + perception in one of his auras
[/ QUOTE ]
bloody /nin stalkers seeing right through my sup invis without them having tactics. Can't believe they just stock up on yellows to hunt me... -
Support you ask for? Well let's go crazy, what about this questionable pvp toon:
Character name: Seismic Zest
Global Handle: @Blue Note
Archetype: Controller
Powersets: Earth/TA
or maybe even more dubious:
Character name: Duskie
Global Handle: @Blue Note
Archetype: defender
Powersets: Dark/Elec
One of these it'll be. I'll let know what it's gonna be before sign up closes on the 25th.
P.S. [ QUOTE ]
...I do love controllers...
[/ QUOTE ]
My feelings exactly! -
Character name: Shamana
Global Handle: @Blue note
Archetype: Controller
Powersets: earth/storm
Or- i cant decide yet:
Character name: Mr. Gourmet
Global Handle: @Blue note
Archetype: Controller
Powersets: Fire/kin
I'll announce my final choice before sign up closes -
I can confirm with the above. It is possible to go by without stamina. It also depends on your primary and your powerpicks. When having an endheavy build and with toggles like acro, assault, tactics, hotfeet, epic shields, etc you still need stamina.
Because indeed if you miss transference or the target is just killed/knocked back after you fire it off you'll run dry very fast. (leaving any casted RA/SB/AB out of the equation)
I have three kin trollers, two of which have stamina and one not. I must say i have a very (pro)active playstyle. The one without stam is my mind/kin (had stam till i got transference well slotted at lvl 37 and then respecced the fitness pool out) and not so heavy on the toggles with just having cj+acro+fire shield. He can manage, although sometimes he has hard times keeping the blue bar filled. Hasten+siph speed gives super recharge, so end goes really fast.
The fire/kin and ill/kin i run with toggles like assault+tactics, hotfeet, acro, shields (and hasten too) so that gives an insane end usage. Without stamina i'd be popping cabs like a mad hatter even with having transference.
So yes, i'd be as bold to say you'd need stamina before transference and in many cases even keep it after that. It really helps. -
Hi boris,
Here a couple of thoughts:
-Spectral terror: sheer excellence. very good control power. Take it! -unfortunately fear doesn't set up containment
-02 boost is your only available healing power, but i reckon you probably mean aid other from medicine pool. 02 has roughly half the recharge time, but double the end cost of 02 and the heal is slighty better then aid other i believe. Especially later in game you'll find 02 boost much more valuable because it protects/frees others from stun/dissorient as well. So unless you really wanna dig into the med pool for maybe aid self i'd say take 02 boost over aid other. Though it's not really needed to have a healing power as an ill troller, just nice imo. You could drop it all the way and take another power (hasten?) instead.
-Hurricane is a very good power! Takes some time to learn to use it well, but trust me then it's not annoying at all, but a very, very good power.
-Fitness is vital pool indeed more so since the storm set is pretty endheavy. Slot up stamina asap with 3 endmod and you can drop most of the (unnecessary) end redux you have slotted.
-TP is not vital, it's even harder to use then any other travelpower. I'd prefer another travel power myself, but it's up to you.
-sup invis is good, but not really necessary for pve. (pvp wise it offers a bit more invis, but in PvE it's a totally unneeded surplus of invis). It's very end heavy and group invis is much more team friendly and with 2 recharge in it + hasten that is up for like 90% of the time and offers all the invis you need.
Personally I love steamy mist. It's a PBAoE stealth that affects players in a large area around you (you are not completely invisible as invis does, but ime stealth is sufficient in most cases) -Handy note: in PvE stealth+superspeed (ss) stack to invis. So if you take ss + steamy mist, you become totally invisible (same status as group invis) under almost all conditions.Only snipers and rikti drones can still detect you then... Nice thing about this is that combined with you having tp friend you can tp your team all over the place in complete safety
)- Also mist is a toggle so you can switch it on and off easily- and it offers some very good damage resistance. I'd advice to take either group invis or the mist and leave sup invis.
-Snow storm, is a yes in my book. very good for mitigating incoming damage. (the slow you have slotted in it works only for movement speed, not recharge hence not really worth slotting because they'll be moving very slow already. Keep the 2 end redux though)
-blind is a must and the cornerstone of your build. 6 slot it asap (2 accu/3 or 2 hold/ 1 or 2 recharge) I like to have flash myself on my ill trollers (you're a controller after all and holding is your middle name), but i guess you can get by without if you must, because it's not the best AoE hold a troller can get. If you keep it though you better 6 slot it with 2accu/2hold/2 recharge.
-Freezing Rain (FR) FTW!!!1 it's just brilliant...
-Noooooo. keep spectral wounds bud. it's your damage dealing power and does that excellent when containment is set up. Just keep it and be happy.
I could give you an example build, but i think it's best to learn by trial and error and with tips from other players. That way you get to understand what you (can) do best.
Finally a few more tips :
-knockback in gale is a wasted slot. make it 2 accuracy so it actually hits anything higher then even con baddies (it has an inherent base accuracy penalty) and leave it at that. You won't be using it much later, because by then you have way better tools to use (i.e. hurricane)
-slot freezing rain (FR) with at least 3 recharge, you want this excellent power up as much as possible. drop the damage enhance as its damage is negligible and the endredux are really not necessary either. after that you can slot def debuff.
-same for phantasm army (PA): 3 recharge, cos you want these babies up as much as possible too. fill the rest with 1 accu and 2 dam.
-again: 3 slot stamina asap and drop the slow in snowstorm that slot is much better spend elsewhere!
-put in 2 accu in all you primary attacks, bare PA. Phantasm could do nicely with a second accu too.
-Really onsider hasten as you'll be having quite some long recharging powers soon. I'd swap it for O2 boost and if you really want to have a healing power maybe get it again later as in the late game O2 boost becomes more usefull because of the lot more mezzing baddies you'll meet. BTW, especially when playing solo O2 boost is very usefull to slap on your phant.
I could say a lot more, but i reckon others will fill in on some of the points i haven't mentioned. It's good to ask advice and use it, but most of all it's your toon, so you build and play as you like.
Have fun!
P.S. You really should slot all SO's in your powers. It will greatly increase your effectiveness compared to with the many DO's you still have. Do a little dance for a high lvl SG member and with puppy eyes ask him for inf -

Taking a GM for a walk on the Eden Trial

Oh the memories... my first eden trial. Never to forget, how exciting that was!
And taking that GM for a walk is a still standing classic Halo. -
Woot! Grzt mate!
I haven't been around much on defiant for some time now, and i know one lady who misses the Tancers a fair bit and feels really sad about missing this (shamana sobs...)
She is very proud of you though and sends you BIG gratz! -
I really like defiance. Recently I started playing my really old neglected blaster again and discovered defiance. WOW!!
It drops too fast indeed and it's tricky to use but when you get to know the limits of your toon and learn to judge what you are facing zomg what an thrill it is to stay in the red for a while, pop 1 or 2 def insps and drop mobs like flies.
Use depends on situation and smaller teams work better, but in general i think it's mighty good when you know what you are doing and gives blasting a really nice edge when you are willing and able to play at high risk -
Sweet finally you got there after all the waiting for the others to catch up with you afro. BIG Gratz to you and the others ofcourse!
