Managing healing aggro?
ZOMG! Did we see this right?
You started playing CoH 2 months ago and you have a lvl 50, 47, 39 and more?
Btw; Don't know what you exactly mean by healing agro. Healing is in factually agro free in CoH, except for kin and DM. Emp being by far the safest buffer of all as it is all non-foe, but ally directed. Could you be more specific?
I had a 50 def on US a year ago, stopped for WoW, came back when WoW ruled my life. The others are in those 2 months.
Really? No Healing aggro? For some reason I get hit at when not doing anything other than healing in groups.
@Boerewors
There could be several reasons for that.
1: You're closer to a specific mob of which your team team didnt grab the aggro from?
2: AoEs?
3: You have used attacks?
and probably something else...but not entirely awake atm

So you get agro by just healing? Reasons as stated by Archy could be it.
AoE many times the case even if you are stealthy healing and if not ofcourse mobs will attack you when they just see you even when not attacking and their agro is not taken by others yet. Slap the tank, scrapper and position yourself tactically Agro management more a team issue then an emps.
And doesnt taking damage makes it so more exciting? Not to speak of the badges you can get
P.S. I do hope you use your secondaries as you can add much more to a team using those wisely.

In this case his secondary would be Empathy *scurries back under my nitpicking rock*

Oh dear, that's me speedreading
But bear with me, who'd expect an emp troller only to heal and dont use attacking powers? Must have been a def in disguise
Thanks all for the info!
@Boerewors
Yeah, as mentioned before, mere healing gets you no aggro, except with kinetic or dark heal which affect enemies.
But if an enemy that hasnt been aggroed yet notices you, then the mere sight of you is enough to pull them to you. Also any kind of power that somehow affects the enemies, (especially attacks) can aggro the enemy.
Secondly, if the team tank goes over the aggro cap of 16 mobs ( tank can only keep max 16 mobs aggroed at given time) then the remaining ones turn on his teammates, which might include you.

Of course might be firing off Confuse as well which also doesn't aggro (and neither do attacks on confused foes - at least until the confuse wears off)
Mind of Gaia lvl 50 Defiant's first Mind/Storm 'troller.
Deadly Doc 50 Dark/Dark Corr
and lots more on Pinnacle,Union and Defiant
Having a played a priest on WoW for over a year I was very familliar with the aggro generation factors governing healing in that game. I have given healing people a nice break (almost 2 months playing CoH now) and started a mind/emp controller. At first I thought YEAH, no healing aggro! But a I progressed I soon realised that this is not the case.
The question is: has anyone documented the factors governing healing aggro in CoH? Can someone please post a link to it if it has? If there isnt, can you guys please post tips on how healing aggro is managed or generated?
I have also posted this in the defender forum, since empathy is a defender primary.
My troller has both heal other and absorb pain, something for which I am very glad for.
