Errr I wouldn't get that far. Depending on the secondary and who you are fighting actually (btw you didn't mention stone, so i take you think stone is the best PvP primary??
)
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, i don't think it's the best. Hence i didn't mention it
But all things said, Fire primary can be very good in duels or small battles like 2vs2 depending on secondary (i.e. /rad, /FF and even /storm). But PvP is more then that... -
Yeah like he said. One of the best primaries for PvP. Better even then ice, grav, mind or ill.
-
This game is becoming to have more farmers then gamers. Next thing we have cows in the meadows...

The trick is not to placate when the dominator is in the red
[/ QUOTE ]
-
Aye depends a bit on what sets indeed. On my ice/, plant/ I don't want it with having slick and mass confus. The fire/ hasn't really missed cages- it kills fast and the ice secondary provide some good slows, though admittedly it could have been handy at times indeed.
-
On any other PvE toon I would never skip on a AoE hold either, but mass confusion is better then any given AoE hold, so you don't really need anything else. But granted having it can never hurt, though AoE holds on domis are far inferior (PB anyone?) on domis compared to trollers.
Good thing about (mass) confuse is that mobs tend to go face to face with eachother and cuddle up nicely in a small pack. No real need for roots there imo seeing they bunch themselves up pretty nicely for the biggest part- and do more damage to eachother wich is good. But if you want some hard immob take it ofc, but i never missed it.
Tbh i haven't got an AoE immob on any of my domis, just don't see it's worth it on a domi as opposed to my trollers which all have it (except the mind troller)
Trollers can make much more use of it due to it's nature with containment and having a support (de)buff secondary, whereas domis have their blasting secondary.
I've taken ST immob on all my domis though because that's damn usefull to keep nasty mobs (only 1 shot up to AV's) out of your face since you have no counters or active defensive measures to mobs like trollers have in their secondary.
Have fun anyway you having it though. Plant is different, pretty powerfull and mucho fun and thorns has some nice handy and damaging stuff too. Enjoy! -

Um can you give some reasons why kin would be best? I have never understood why. Also I dont think I have ever lost a duel to a kin on my blaster. Its got unpredictable heal thats easily counteracted, siphon speed counteracted by jumping(only useful if you got stackable immob or -jump), mediocre end drain, and those were the strengths as far as I can see..
ps. to OT: what happened to cold?
[/ QUOTE ]
As far as I can tell by your description you have duelled a few very bad /kin corruptors then. My sonic/kin corruptor has never lost a duel to any blaster... Well, except one time, but that was really more like a gank than a duel since I was teleported out of a fight and instantly one-shotted. (I had already taken damage and the port came at a most unopportune moment.)
But hunting scrappers is more fun anyway.
P.S. Cold is still fine. Don't know why Traps is on the list and Cold is not. I would prefer Cold anyday.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same goes around, must have been bad (build) blasters as well then. -

So indeed maybe FS should be tuned down too a bit when it comes down to it
[/ QUOTE ]
So you agree
[/ QUOTE ]
With what? -
Seeds of confusion is so powerful (mainly because of the excellent recharge/duration ratio (3 rech makes it kind of perma even without hasten) and the lack of an accu penalty, that you could skip an AoE hold and get away without the Vines. I'm sadly scared of a nerf someday soon
And Roots is not really usefull either imo, but that's personal taste i guess.
Also spirit tree isn't that good. It's rooted on the spot and most of times battle is too frantic and mobile that you can't afford keep standing near it to benefit it's even not so usefull +regen.
Personally i'd take a second travel next to SS instead, because it can be tough going about the rogue isles with no vertical movement and cj from leaping offers nice extra combat mobility too. Or take some nice extra powerpools (tp friend or stealth pool for example) if you like.
Aid self is not so important unless you plan to PvP a lot and it's especially less usefull when you don't have PB from /ice or /nrg .
And personally i'd never ever drop creepers. They totally rock!
Mu mastery is a my fav patron. Powersink is pretty good for end recovery and the pet is a great healbot. Outweighs soul mastery by far imo. -
This has derailed a bit and maybe i got my point across badly. So i'll try again.
What i meant is that ofcourse in all sets there are some good and some average or even less then that powers, but that wasn't what the discussion wasn't about.
FS is evidently brutal, but many other (tier 9) powers in def/troller(/cor) sets are very good or 'special' too like EMP, Fluffy, Heat Loss, etc. FS might be king, but theres much more comparative awesomeness around for those AT's.
Same goes for other AT's who have a special or 'god mode' power (nukes/elude/unstop/overload/etc). Admittedly some better then others, but they are in line.
But to get back on topic about shockwave. No other power in any other domi secondary even comes close by a long shot.
Being a PBAoE with pretty fast recharge, huge radius, high damage (higher then bonesmasher...), mag 2 stun with looooong duration and hefty rech debuff is way too powerful all in all for an AT like a domi when you look at the other secondaries available.
Other powers in the psi set maybe could do with a little boost whereas shockwave really needs to be tuned down for balance when compared to other domis secondaries imo.
So indeed maybe FS should be tuned down too a bit when it comes down to it -
Sorry i couldn't be there peeps, but got called in for emergency job and totally forgot to let you know.
Good to hear you had a fun pawning session. And big gratz again on getting tria to 50 Coop! -

-kb isnt the only reason you get acro, it can be a nice idea to keep it unless all you plan to do is farm.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is the main one imo, unless you PvP. The hold res and protection are too low to make much of a difference in PvE in most cases unless you're stacking them with something else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually the hold prot is a good one in PvE and sucky in PvP. In PvP even a blaster or def with a hold laughs at acro, let alone a troller or domi.
But in PvE holds aren't that frequent -and especially as a troller they should hardly be landing on you- and hardly ever stacked on you (apart from fighting Rikti maybe- too many times i've been perma held by a Chief lately) so acro is a nice saver in those cases they try to hold you.
Still i agree main reason to take acro is KB prot, because the hold prot isn't that usefull overall, just a nice extra.
Now stuns are much more frequent then holds in PvE. And if acro had stun prot instead of hold prot i might reconsider dropping acro for karma/steadfast instead. -

Your playstyle is what your blaster makes it unique. Ranged or melee, mixed or combo, its what you like most. You're not playing wrong if u stay ranged being /nrg, neither if u go melee while being AR.
Each set can be played differently, even the same set can be played differently. Depending on the mobs, u even have to play differently (some mobs u dont wanna be with on melee range).
[/ QUOTE ]
You have a point, FSC and Combustion are really bad on low level Nems cause those little steambots blow up and kill you
[/ QUOTE ]
Ouchie yes indeed they do! But also some spawns have some very heavy hitting bosses (left) standing. -
I know you have a lvl 50 stalker and that you love it
and this is not at all meant as a personal attack, but the way you lay out this use of placating actually more affects the stalkers team (mates * points at domi*) overall then it does you the stalker.
True, it isn't gonna hurt the domi 'more' directly indeed just as much using the backflip emote in the middle of a fight does.
Compare it too using AS from hide on a minion with only 5% health. This doesn't hurt the domi 'more' indeed, but is it a smart thing to do?
What it does though is making you (and the team/duo in total) less effective by wasting time/rhythm and focus to target the mob for the placate, wasting your end as well as an otherwise useful placate which could actually have it's benefits instead of being no use because the placated mob will keep on the domi anyway while you go bash another mob.
The only benefit it has is that the placated mob won't go after you directly. Though still after the domi...(which can be desirable on those very special occasions if you want to use a placate to specifically quickly divert the agro from you to the domi)
I don't have a lvl 50 stalker and it doesn't really matter as i've been teaming with a lot of m and i got a good feel for how and when they are played effectively. And using a placate like you describe doesn't make the book -
Stalker + domi is very good duo when it's played out well.
All those extra crits you can pull off! Important though is to both have a good understanding how to prioritise targets -who to target when and with what powers.
I've been in a good few domi+stalker duo's with me playing domi's. Good timing, understanding and coordination (which with some ppl is hard and with others it comes almost naturally) makes a domi+stalker (or even small teams with a domi+stalker on a roll) highly effective.
P.S.
[ QUOTE ]
...And placate can be used on any enemy allready targetting the dominator, then the stalker has a choice on what else should be dead, like the unheld foe you missed.
[/ QUOTE ]
IIRC powerdoll, placate works only for the stalker. Hence placating a nasty boss going for the domi still goes for the domi. So no (smart) choice for the stalker really to waste a nice placate on that boss and go for another baddie first while giving away a freebie to the boss to 2/3 shot the domi's squishie throat. But i might be wrong...
Edit: ROTFL!, since when is A-S-S (subsituted above by "throat" now) censored?
-
Mace is best patron a villain can get for PvP. Both web envelope and web cocoon prevent jumping which together with all your massive slows can keep almost any enemie stuck on the spot sort of indefinately giving you a freebie kite session they'll long remember.
Also the -rech of both (cocoon has a pretty hefty -rech) will stack with all your -rech from ice/ and /cold leaving them without hardly any powers to fire of
Mace has 2 good powers for PvP corrupters, but maybe you find you prefer taking other (pool) powers instead like some others.
Patron pets pretty much suck (especially pvp wise) except the heal bot Mu guardian for domis. -

Agreed, but same can be said about many other powers. Still doesn't make them all the same.

What I meant was that in a similar way to kinetics (on controllers) you put up with 37 levels of mediocrity to get those awesome powers

Transfusion mediocre? siph speed mediocre? SB mediocre? Transference mediocre?Maybe it seems so in the light of FS, but really... mediocre?
[/ QUOTE ]
Compared to the PvE applications of Fulcrum... yes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't compare them to FS. [censored] the powers in itself and compared to other powers you get along the way from the start as you do with any toon, including kin powers. There are some undeniably good powers to be gotten.
If we follow your POV almost all other powers in the game are 'mediocre' (compared to FS) and i think that's something we can not sensibly agree with with. -
I just did a quick scan hehe. Ofcourse blaze is 38 for you. Been playing my fire blaster and fire corrupter too much lately
As for the other powerpicks for set bonuses. Well if you think it's worth it, go for it. Personally i prefer having good slotted usefull powers instead of a bit more little set bonuses. But if it makes you have perma dom well guess it might be worth the sacrifises.
I didn't think of the TK+snipe combo. Should be good indeed
And i agree with Pjil: terrify is a much better pick -especially when doing some team PvP, and not even to mention PvE wise- and use the glimps of abbys set if you are going for bonuses. It's got same +rec and +accu bonus as posi blast and a little psi res and HP boost on top of that as well. -
Hehe trying out the likely soon FoTM domi
few things i noticed and wanna mention:
-drop lightning ball, its AoE (so no good use for duels) high end use and slow recharge. The latter makes it not a really viable investment to profit from the -recov either. Powersink from the epic is a better option imo.
-might wanna consider getting rid of confuse. However i like this power myself in general, in PvP it's not that hard to negate it by rotating camera view and since you got no pets you have no decoy that will make the target switching happening anyway. And its got pretty long animation which can be really deadly... to you
-blaze at lvl 38? It's your best hitting main damage dealing power AND toggle dropper. I'd say get it waaay earlier. (maybe switch around some powers and move tactics to lvl 38)
-Snipe although good dam, its interruptable. Can be good, but also hard to pull it off to good use.
-squeezing in aid self would be very useful too, but its 2 powerpicks...
-with some work you could maybe skip acro and use 2/3 -KB prot in CJ and the epic armour. but you'd be having a bit weaker KB prot and giving up on minor hold prot.
-and vengeance for duels is just silly
Hope you find this domi fun and succesfull in PvP for you
- -
Earth/Storm rocks (both literally and figuratively
)
Nice powerpicks, but here's a few quick pieces of advice on slotting mainly:
-try slapping in one end redux in cages (prolly post lvl 40)
-3 slows in snowstorm is really overkill. Just slot 1 maybe 2. It does well without any even. 1/2 endredux (and maybe 1 slow) will do very fine.
-quicksand doesnt need any extra slows nor def debuffs really. If you got spare slots make it 1 def debuff/1 slow
-FR doesnt really need def debuff. Maybe the 1. Otherwise just stick to 3 rech redux (and 1 def debuff if you can spare)
-EQ: drop the accu debuff. base value is low and anything including (most) bosses will be bumping up and down anyway.
-Stoney needs only 1 accu, maybe 2. Drop the stun, it doesn't make much of a difference.
-tornado: i like that slotting
-LS: swap a rech redux for an end redux. It's endcost is VERY high.
-Hibernate: more recharge (and some heal/end i think personally, but depends on use/playstyle)
-Ice blast not that good (anymore). But really don't take it if you not gonna at least 5 slot it (1/2 accu|3 dam| 1 end redux/rech)
-Icestorm: swap accu for a rech redux. You should be using it on top of FR -with big base def debuff- only anyway and you want it up as much as possible
-move Steamy Mist way earlier. Great power. Stacks to invis with stealth IO iirc or with SS as travel, but you opted for fly in this build. Also nice power to put a -KB karma/steadfast in)
Maybe consider another epic pool too, although hibernate is very nice. Fire epic fireball+shield? Yum Yum! Maybe fireblast as well.
P.S. You can only have one tornado out at a time. Whenever you cast it again the previous tornado vanishes. So 3 rech is a waste of slots. 1 rech + hasten makes it kind of perma. That's all it needs really.
P.S. 2 Stone prison makes for a nice power to immob AV in higher lvls, but prolly no room in your build...
Have fun with this excellent combo! -
