Well, I figured out how to get Windows Movie Maker to work... But... I made a movie - a 37 second movie.
I relaize 37 seconds is far too long for an avatar or something, but eventually, I will want to make shorter things like that. Is there some way to change the file format with Windows Movie Maker? I didn't see anything.
If not, could someone post a link to this mysterious and powerful "Gif contruction set" please?
Thank you. -
Okay, I know I've probably asked this before, but I just discovered that I can make animated GIFs with my World of--- I mean... "That Other Game" model viewer, and I'd like to be able to edit them a little and change their size for avatars.
I just need something simple, I don't want this big fancy program... and, yes, I tried Windows Movie Maker, but it gave me some error and said that it could be corrupted.
I doubt that considering that it plays fine when I view... But I don't know...
Thank you. -
Well, I sign my art all the time. That's not really the point of the thread, there's nothing that'll convince me to put my stuff on the inteweb. I'm just looking for enough enthusiasm for this idea, so that if I decide to draw this picture and post it I get an efficient ammount of replies/critiques.

You know, you wouldn't have to worry about the safety of your characters if you just drew random people, that aren't your characters or anything, and have no backstories. That way no one could really steal them. That sounds like a neat idea, though.

Your one of the them, aren't you!? Trying to steal my stuff!
-
I'm very protective of my stuff... and stuff... That's why I don't post my artsings anymore...
But I has an idea!
I draw a person, just standing there, looking plain... This person wouldn't have a face or any characteristics: Just a showcase of my abilty to draw a person - I post it on dA, then you judge it!
This way I can get a good idea of how skilled I am(or atleats have someone give me a serious critique) and not worry about the safety of my characters or anything.
I'd put everything I've got into it - every muscle I know how to draw(or knows there) and all that.
I'd need to make sure alot of people would be willing to participate before I do this, so that I don't work so hard only to get two or three replies...
So, does this sound like a good idea? -

Yeah little pizzas
And of course the variation on this theme should be that he's holding the box where his boxers should be

I was tempted... I was tempted, but I think I made up for it in the slightly open fly...

So I just finished this picture of my usual guy. He's standing there... Holding his in raised hand... a... box of pizza!
The picture is complete with signature, character name, and a text bubble shouting "I has teh pizza!"(it should noted that "teh" isn't a typo), and as usual he's wearing nothing!
... except his boxer shorts
But this is the first time I've used boxer shorts. Its usually something more warrior-like, that sort of thing.
But his boxers are.... Blank!
You get to decide! What should I put on his boxers?(yeah... I'm sort of bored...)
-
Alot of the poeple I draw--- Ugghh... well, the guy I draw(I'll have plenty of new people to draw once I start writing my next story) is often shown with a little stubble and/or a goatee... just because...
So, right now I usually just put some little dots on and around his chin and sometimes, if I'm feeling daring, a little on his upper neck. But I'm wondering... Is this the "right" or suggested way to do it? I mean, there's way too many little(maybe I could say "little" a few more times) hairs on a man's beard than I could ever fit in that little space on the page. I was thinking I could take more of the Fred Flinstone approch and just darken things around there a little. But I usually try to avoid any darkening or shading... at all! I'm trying to go for a nice, bold-lined, very clean, colorful look(yet at the same time, detailed, and as anatomically correct as possible, while at the same time staying with a fun, somewhat exagorated feel...
).
... Now... I have to say it few more times: little, little, little! -
For a while now I've been saying "eventually I'll get one of those" about tablets, but I think now's a good time to actually start saving for one.
So, what's a good one to get?I mean, there must be differetn kinds, is one better than the other, perhaps?
Is the stylus some sort of megnet, so, for example, I can't draw with my hands? I generally, draw with the side of my hand resting on the paper, so if the tablet is going to be sensitive to my hand doing that... it just wouldn't be good...
Do only certain programs work with tablets? I only have MSPaint and Picture It(never did wind up getting The Gimp...), or would it come with its own little program?
Are they like touch-screen moniters? Will I be able to see what I'm doing on the tablet?
I guess that's all i have to ask, I harldy have enough money for one(I bet they're expensive...) -
Why do my pictures always look so dirty after I scan them? I always see these "sketches" but the area/page around them always look so clean and pure-white. Is there editing involved after scanning, so that only the lines are seen, or do these people just have really good scanners...?
My next questions is in a way tied to my problem of messy scans: How do you color thinsg like shading? I guess I could try, but look here. See how the shading is sort of complicated? Now, for someone who knows what they're doing, that would be a big deal if it were a painting or something. But lets assume this was mostly done on computer(even if it wasn't, lets just think for the sake of my question). How do you get this sort of itricacey? I'm going to get one eventually anyway, so... Are there tablets involved in doing such complex things conveintly?
I've done shading with pencil drawings before, but I've alwasy been scared of coloring them, because it might just look like a mess after the scaning and me trying to color...
And my last question: Should I ink? Sometimes I'll just darken my lines at the most, but I've never considered actually taking a pen to my pencil lines. If coloring, I'll usually just go into Paint and follow my drawing with a thick black line, but its just not the same as my own, natural hand movements(kinda' boxy, even if I go really slow).
So yeah... There're my questions, have fun... -
Well, first of all, I've taken away Blue's backstory. I have other stories to tell, and plus, I was feeling a little cramped - like everything I did was being controlled by the backstory, becuase I always feel that if I'm going to have a backstory, I should be true to it.
So I changed my third costume, to this:
1(don't mind the green circles, they've been annoying me for two days now...)
2(my current desktop)
3
Notice the absence of the tattoos(along with everything else
). I just wanted some creative freedom, so I trashed everything that was binding me, except the concept of "blue cat-man".
But about the costume... I sort of like it, but... I've seen people running around like this before and I think they're weirdos, like "put some clothes on, would ya'!".
Should I stay like this? Maybe just add some accesories? I don't want people to be scaed of me... -
Okay, I know I've asked this before, but this time I might actually try it.
I really like sprites. Not the cartoony ones, but the ones you in Street Fighter and Guilty Gear.
Is there some specific method of making these, or do I just open Paint and draw away? -

I like to draw sometime tonight, but I can't seem to come up with any good poses. If I don't draw something soon my head will asplode!
-
Well, there's this one character I'm particularly fond of(my own creation, and nothign to do with Co*), and when I get the urge to draw, its usually the urge to draw him.
Yes, I do draw other things, but my books are nearly filled with nothing but him, and my walls are slowly running out of space as I color picture after picture(selecting the ones I deem exceptional). And most of what I draw lately is really just practice - if I see a fun/diffacult pose I'll attempt it, or if I feel I need to be doing better at a certain body part - so he's really sort of my generic model that I do anything I need to do with, instead of saying "this is so-and-so from the mystical land of here-and-there. He's out for revenge on so-and-so for doing this-and-that"(this isn't to say the guy I'm talking about doesn't have a back story, but liek I said I'm just much fonder of him).
So yeah... Am I like the town weirdo now?... Like a stalker with a lot of pictures of the same person... -

therefore making fun of someone who might barely speak english is what?
stupid
[/ QUOTE ]
If he really were learning english as a second language he probably wouldn't be using this "internet speak" crap or whatever they call it. Internet speak itself is a second language - put my Mom in front of that post and see how long it takes for her to translate.
Lets say for a moment this person is still learning english: If they are, they need to say in the post(to stop hubbub like this) or they need to fully understand the language before posting it on internet forums.
It really angers me when people use the "second language" excuse.
Anyway, my "opinionin" has been stated, I'm ready to be flamed now. -
I like where this thread is going...
(thank you for your help everyone)
-
Well, here's the deal: Right now I'm in sort of a "improving my artsing skills" stage.
I've been just trying to come up the funnest(I know its not a real word) and most challanging poses to draw, so I can aceive a better knowing of how muscles bend and flex... and more importantly where they are.
So instead of psetering everyone about this and that I'll just ask if anyone knows of a good book on drawing...*shiver*... anatomy...
I'm not interested in women, I mean, I just don't draw them that often(you can take that literally too), so something on men is better.
Now, why do I botehr you people with this? Becuase I figure someone here must have a book or two, and know where to direct me, because so far I've gotten where I am from watching Survivor and playing video games.
Any advice is helpful too. -
I think I'm really going to do this time, I'm going to get GIMP to replace my poor little Picture It.
But of course, I have to ask questions first:
First: Is is any better than Picture It? If not, I might as well stick with what I got.
Is it simple, but with great potential? All I really need to be able to do is color my scanned drawings and add shadows here and there. Not shading, shadows. I play around with my World of--- Uhh... Diablo... Yeah, my World of Diablo model veiwer, and I need to be able to add some shadows on the ground once I got my models in the scene.
Will it make my 'puter's head a'spode? I have a sufficient computer, but I wouldn't be suprised if anything was too powerful.
And also: Does anyone here have it/use it? Comments?
Thank youse. -
I've just finished removing all my art from dA. I've decided for my own little reasons that I just don't want my art posted up on the interweb for the whole world to see.
Any requests I may still have are now officially cancelled, although I think the only one I had was Mr. Awesome Vs. Blue Dagger.
My apologies for the long wait, but it will not be completed.
However, to Thor's Assassin or anyone else who may have my art on their pages as well, please [u]do not[u] feel obligated to take it down.
I'm hoping not to completely cut myself off from the Co* art community, although I really haven't even posted here in ages. I may come back time-to-time for advice or something.
Thank you, and again: My apologies to anyone who may have requested uncompleted art. -
After doing some Wikipedia research I have come upon Blender, and it appears to be what I'm sort of... after...
Is it some dirty trick that isn't really what I think it is? And if it will let me make my own models, is it compatible with Daz?
