Wow, I found this thread before D_R/Samuraiko did! *gloats*

Possibly posted already, but the four "skull" brooches for capes.

You can also get standard (non-set) IOs, which at the higher end are slightly better than SOs, and also cost far less on the market than the sets do.
-
Another thing now that IOs have been mentioned: there are IOs, and there are IO sets. IOs are straight bonuses to a power - Accuracy, Damage, what have you. IO SETS are a different animal, the one that everyone else has rightly implied can get very expensive, offer a) multifaceted bonuses (+Accuracy and +Damage, for example), and b) set bonuses that often get applied to the ENTIRE character when you have two or more of the same SET in one power. My favorite example (yes, one of the expensive ones
) is the Ranged attack IO set, Devastation, which you can look over here. This set also has an example of a proc in it (the Chance for Hold), which means that, with that specific IO installed, the ranged attack it's on has a chance to hold the target, in addition to its normal effects.

"Good" is so subjective that it would be difficult or impossible to fully answer the question. Single-origin (SOs) enhancements are, to my mind, the point at which they become worth paying for, but others' mileage will vary. From there, the sky is nearly the limit.
Generally speaking, you'll be able to buy SOs beginning around level 25, from stores and contacts in the zones appropriate to that level. For (significantly) more extensive info, check here, with prices listed here. -
My pumpkin-headed plant dom and I were VASTLY disappointed when this was changed.

Quote:Having SM: Oppressive Gloom, I find a mob's to hit essentially = zero when they're all stunned. Also slotted with the Absolute Amazement -to hit proc. Adding in Darkest Night, Shadow Fall and Fearsome Stare (mine and Lich), the probability of being hit by an enemy that remains unstunned (EBs, etc) already approaches nil. Someone mentioned the uncertainty of when and where Servant will apply his heal. I submit that the same uncertainty applies to his debuffs.Hard to ignore, but you wouldn't need the heal so much if he was doing a better job debuffing tohit.
The heal on the Servant is a bonus. He is best slotted for tohit debuff.
Generally speaking, I don't need to heal myself that much. My usual tactic is to follow my pets that close to melee, keeping them healed as needed, while the pets that lag behind, attacking from range (Servant and Lich) tend to wind up near each other, thus keeping the Lich healed as needed. Have essentially tanked a great deal this way without issue. The heal simply means that I experience nearly zero downtime between mobs.
If you're going to launch into a diatribe about the "right" way to do things, feel free to save it. I didn't do so with yours, I'm just presenting an alternative. -

Quote:Such as?.. It's a pretty subjective request, without knowing how old said minor actually is. Day-care, for example, is unlikely. In the 13-21 range, they're legally able to play the game, so it seems logical to engage them in the event right along with the rest of the crazy people. Also, I know I don't speak for everyone here, but if the M&G is in Chicago, I'll have my minor son with me, so could *some* consideration be given to the under-21 crowd?

Getting impressive heal numbers from Servant with 5 slot Touch of the Nictus (sans neg nrg proc) and an accuracy. Now, my necro/dark is healing around 488 per pop with Twilight Grasp, and Servant around 415. Hard to ignore 900 points of AoE heal every few seconds.

Haven't tried, but my guess is that it would proc on you once when you first summon the beacon.

Quote:No they don't; Sprunk Cola does. Unless Coca Cola spends money to advertise the connection, they get nothing other than a dilution of their brand... and they still get some of that.Cross promoting...
Sprunk Cola ... talk to Coca Cola have them make real Sprunk Cola and you can advertise it in game, which you already do. Limited time only... you get free advertising and we get a limited edition pop, plus Coke gets a free advertising in the game... -
Quote:I did, and I can sum up what I recall as at least 90% of the responses:And, if it took going to Boston, MA and talking to people there to find out the reasons more people didn't/couldn't go to Hero-Cons, I have to say - shame on you DEVs! READ THE FORUMS!
1) I can't or don't want to leave my city of residence.
2) I can't or don't want to leave my state of residence.
3) I can't afford it.
Seriously, what would you expect Paragon to do about ANY of these things? Appear in every major city in every state and European country? Pay for everyone's travel and accommodations? Not being sarcastic here, just pragmatic.
Quote:There has been plenty of discussion on the barriers of getting to Hero-Con in the forums in past years. Yeah, years - plural.
And, let's be honest here. HeroCon is a marketing FAIL for them. Does it entice new players into the game? No. It was directed entirely at the existing player base. It was a great thing, went to both, can't thank them enough. But yes, after some rather glum introspection on my part, I agree with their decision to discontinue it.
Now as to making appearances at various gaming and comic conventions, I couldn't agree more. But getting back to cold, hard economic facts, they're NOT going to appear at all the nice little comic or gaming conventions across the country that have merely a LOCAL draw. GenCon? Good idea. WesterCon, PAX? Sure. Phoenix ComiCon? Hey, we're a big city here, c'mon! Nope, no point. Does it draw from out of state? Heck, out of TOWN? No? Sorry Charlie.
And as for Europe... well, the economic barriers that keep European players from coming HERE work both ways. And again, no sarcasm intended - DOES Europe have any gaming or comic conventions that fit the rather simple criterion of "Bigger than local draw"? None of the three I attended while there (admittedly over a decade ago) seemed to.
The sooner people get over their individual wishful thinking and/or sense of entitlement, the sooner we can all get back to making sincere, well-considered recommendations, rather than all the hair-pulling, teeth-gnashing, sackcloth-and-ash-wearing that's been going on ever since the "no more HeroCon" announcement. -
Correct me if I'm wrong, but... 3 tiers of PPD powersuits, yes?
Hero-only MM, anyone? -
Heh, both of us being occasional Champions RPG players, we follow the whole "reason from effect" process: decide what a power does and what it looks like, and then pick whatever best fits. Particularly easy since I-16, naturally. Folks that use the (blaster) Energy front set to represent water-based attacks have been doing this for a long time, and I'm sure there are other examples.

To be fair, two weeks wouldn't be an unfair expectation. The event is, after all, on the same day every year. The devs work schedules are presumably the same every day. Couldn't be THAT hard to give the server times and locations that far ahead.
