  1. I have recently picked up the TT with my fire Dom. The recharge is long admittedly, but can be shortened substantially with slotting and hasten. I have aid other which I find very handy keeping my TT alive (and my imps) if I'm solo. Of course, I only really use the TT when I'm up against a boss/EB, in those situations they come in very handy.

I haven't had him long, and once I've used it for a bit longer I might change my mind, but at the moment I'm very pleased.

(If you think the dom patron pets suck, give the brute ones a try )

I'm free next Wednesday night, so how about another rumble 8pm next week?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Work and other commitments permiting I'll be there

    Keeping it at level 5?
  3. Congratulation Master Z on getting your MM to 50
  4. Thanks for last night everyone, I really enjoyed myself. I'm quite an arena newbie, I think that was only the third time I've ever used the arena. I agree with what everyone has said about fighting at that low level, it was a lot more strategic than I was expecting. I also thought that there wouldn't be many kills due to a lack of powers, but that simply wasn't the case.

    [ QUOTE ]
Yeah, we got some real nice and exciting fights. Especially the 10 domination one, or at least it felt like it until we found out that the brute had 5 lives remaining. I was out of insps and down to my last 'life' at that point thanks to you gankers hehe. I really did everything I could in the end and managed to get one kill but he had too many 'lives' ^^.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was that brute. That final fight when it was just you and me left was excellent, I had no idea how many lives you had left and you were really taking me apart with some skillful movement. The Brute I was playing didn't perform so well in the other game types though.

It was interesting to see, when that level 50 Stalker joined, that fighting at such a low level, that anybody can win (admittedly we did gang up and gank him at one point).

    [ QUOTE ]
Anyone have trouble with doing this regularly on Wednesdays? Would you like to attend, but have other commitments then?

Also, is 7pm too early a start?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd love to join you all again as I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately I can't commit to a regular time as I'm just about to enter my busy period at work (which will last until near the end of April), but I certainly come along if I can make it.
  5. I'm also stuck at work at the moment. I wont make the 7pm start but hopefully can join in the fun a little later.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Anything up to level 9 I have absolutely no problem with. At level 10 the inspiration tray expands again, which makes things harder to keep fair. Does that help you at all?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks Echo. I think I now have a choice between my TA defender and a stone/elec brute. I wonder which i'll choose
  7. I know, just over an hours play for me. However, I don't get home from work until 7pm so I wont have time to quickly get to 5.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I'm playing a gimpoid toon for it. I did look for something that could win and all the tankmagey builds made go "pfft! screw it".

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was going to level a new corruptor to 5 last night but I had such a bad headache I had to abandon that idea.

Echo, what's the highest level toon you will allow to enter and exemp down? My lowest level character is a lvl 6 TA defender and I would like to avoid having to use him if I can.
  9. Blind_Minotaur

    Just curious...

    [ QUOTE ]
Scrappers are a good bet. Your illusion should also be playable, a lot of villains dont take +perception powers yet and get no +perception buff. In fact illusion controller can potentially out-stalker a stalker.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not strictly true; Clarity from the Corruptor Sonic Secondary gives +perception. But your chances of getting it as a random buff in a pvp zone is slim to none.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
So now the only irritating thing I say to a team is "pulling to corner", if people dont see how effective that is, then they end up being kicked by the team leader (not me) for causing others to die, or they leave because of their own deaths.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm going to play Devils Advocate here. I understand that your method is both effective and efficient, as well as being necessary when up against particularly tough foes. However, some people like to have some element of chaos in missions. I, for one, would get very bored, very fast if my team only did the exact same thing over and over again.

Of course, there are many different play styles, some better than others; but efficiency and effectiveness doesn't necessarily equate to fun.

Maybe it's just me, or it could be the fact that I play predominantly on villains - where the team has to keep going at a constant pace in order to keep up a head of steam (making full use of Fury and Domination etc); But unless the mission is especially tough I find this method of play rather dull.

Of course, and as is ever true, the above is only my opinion

I hope it goes well for you guys, but, you do realise that next tuesday night is the 3rd RPS tourney?

    Fire/Fire Advice

    [ QUOTE ]
Fire control i can help on, the unmissable powers in the set are char, flashfire and fire imps.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I only have one point to add to Kitties' post; Pick up Fire Cages for the superb Fire Cages+Flashfire combo!
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Hmmm, to make a character that could win, or one I was going to make anyway?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to make one that I had planned anyway. With only four powers available to people it shouldn't matter "too much" what you create. And it's a bit of fun anyhow.

Oh, and RPS and the lowbie Battle all in the same week
  14. Protagonist, don't you already have an AR/Kin at level 50? Are you seriously considering playing another? I'd go with Dark if I was you, Tar Patch is great for slowing down the enemies to make the best use of your cones and Ignite, not to mention all of Darks other excellent powers
  15. Can you add me to the list too? It has been ages since I've done an RSF. I have my main, Blind (lvl 50 SS/EA) and now also have a Dom in range, Flameborg (lvl 47 Fire/En). Flameborg has smoke which is a nice power to have if you are planning on pulling the AVs.

    Anyway my Globals are:

    @Blind Minotaur and @Blind Minotaur2
  16. Good point Okton, slots aren't a problem for me but I guess they are for a lot of people. I'm happy to play on test.

Is this an all against all event? Or is it like the recent Buddy Royale?
  17. Nobody seems to have mentioned this yet but Fire for a Dom is awful in PvP. I have one (Fire/En) sitting at lvl 47 at the moment. He is great fun in PvE and is a bit of a powerhouse, I can easily solo on relentless without usually breaking a sweat.

Forget about PvP with this toon. Fire Control lacks any of the soft controls that the other primaries have and this is what really lets it down for PvP. If you want to be able to stand a chance in PvP then pick Ice.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
If you want to tank as an MM, you're really best off with /dark, because the PBAoE heal really boosts the usefulness of BG mode a LOT.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's more a bit of fun than a serious effort MaX, concept over effectiveness. I'm already at level 19 so I'll see how it goes. As Master Z and Sinergy have already advised AoEs are really causing me problems. I'm trying to focus on any AoE/cone mob and take them down fast (one of the few time's i'll switch out of BG mode).

If I get fed up and find it's really not working for me I'll reroll as a zombie/dark.

    Thanks for the tips guys.

How does next Wednesday (the 7th February) at 7pm on the Union server sound to everyone?

If you'd rather play on the Test server or on a different date or time, speak up please.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Next wednesday should be good for me, Union also. As this is a lowbie event we shouldn't need to resort to going on test, should we?

Is the idea we turn up with a lvl 5, or are we exemping down to five?

    Also, what's the rules/game type?
  20. I want to start be saying that I haven't had pleasant experiences with MMs. I have played Ninja (twice!), Mercs, Thugs and Zombies. All have been subject to the dreaded delete, and my Ninja and Mercs were in the 20s. I found them all to be dull to play, but that may well have been my playstyle.

I have now created a Robots/FF MM with the intention of playing as a ranged tank. I have already got it to lvl 19 and I'm enjoying it a lot.

My main idea for this MM is to be in Body Guard mode for 90% of my time. I have already picked up the AoE taunt from the presence pool and may get challenge soon.

So far so good. I start a fight by using either my assault rifle or force bolt to get the mob to attack me. The bots then defend me but also grab the agro. I'm having a tough time keeping it with just provoke at the moment. When I get to higher lvls I plan to use Force Bubble and Dispersion Bubble (i think that's the one) to keep the mobs out of melee but still focused on me.

Being defense based I'm a bit confused how defense is calculated in BG mode. I've heard that only the MMs defense is taken into account. If this is the case, and I can keep the aggro on me (the MM), then are the bubbles on the bots pointless?

Anyone out there have any practicle experience of trying to play a MM as a tank?

Any other powers I should pick as aggro grabbers?

Lastly, am I being a bit foolish playing bots/ff like this? Obviously playing a melee based MM (like zombies) and picking a secondary like DM would be far more effective but wouldn't be a ranged Tank.
  21. I dont know how many people have played their dominator since the last patch, if you haven't I would say log on and join a team and prepare to be amazed! Domination now builds so fast in a team it is simply astounding. Earlier today I was in a full team and my dom bar would go from empty to full before we had even managed to get through one mob.

Anyway, I thought the buff was great before the patch, now it is amazing!
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Make another copy of them is the easiest solution.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wouldn't the easiest solution be get people to state their toon, server and prefered day here, just to get a rough idea?

Blind Minataur - Union - Sundays (How's that for starters?)

Regarding communication can't we just use arena chat on test? Or set up a new global channel?

I can't speak for the OP about his intentions but a lot of people who have signed up for this are not the same bunch of people who pvp in the arena on a monday.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The PvP we have in the arena on mondays is very friendly and good natured. It is not highly competitive as I think some people get the impression that it is. We run this event to try and get more people involved in PvP, and of late have been struggling to get more than 10-15 people on a regular basis. The kind of people who have posted here are the kind of people we would like to attract to the monday night arena PvP (as much as I know that will never happen for most). This event will only damage that turn-out further.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've recently started dabbling in Arena PvP and have really enjoyed it. I would love to start doing more and this sort of regular event is right up my street.

    [ QUOTE ]
Most of the people who have posted here do not want to join in the arena, this does not mean that we would not like to partake in large scale activity in the zones. To assume the two events would have a completely seperate demographic is obviously incorrect.

I don't mean to post in a negative way or de-rail the thread at all, as I said before I'm glad (and suprised) to see PvP events of different kinds receiving such a healthy feedback.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not at all, and I didn't read your post in a negative way. I don't think that the OP was aware of Monday nights being arena night. I'm all for the RV night being moved to another night, and I agree with Master Z, once a week seems a little too much, but I'll definately be turning up for the first one.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

For the OP, monday night is test night, you will be missing many potential people organising another pvp contest the same night. Great to see new offers are sent out tho

    [/ QUOTE ]

Monday night has been arena PvP night on test for a long time. Although it's great to see a lot of different people agreeing to join in with this (look through the latest 'Pvp Night' thread and it's all the usual suspects...) I can't help but be a little disappointed that, even though it's been mentioned twice in this thread, you have failed to acknowledge that you are scheduling a PvP event for the same time as an existing, and long standing event of a similar nature

    [/ QUOTE ]

This idea came about from the RV/Heavy discussion. Underpopulation of RV was stated as a possible reason for it's failings. The general idea was to get a lot of people together (including people who do not usually PvP) in RV.

I can't speak for the OP about his intentions but a lot of people who have signed up for this are not the same bunch of people who pvp in the arena on a monday.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Running it on test defeats the whole point of taking RV back from the farmers though, surely?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is exactly what I was thinking. It will be a lot better if we try and run two events on both Union and Defiant. It's not like it takes a lot of organising.

    [ QUOTE ]
And 6:30pm is WAY to early for me I'm afraid...

    [/ QUOTE ]

6:30 is also a bit early for me. I'll be turning up around an hour later than that.
