I meant demorecord recognizing mouse_invert and various slash commands. Using the mouse to alter your point of view is WAI. Various slash commands that worked at the game client level didn't in demorecord. Things like depth of field didn't work quite like I'd expected, and that was #173 on the list of things to nag the dev team about.

Quote:I was really hoping to see a Shield Defense ability that would use some of the newer tech, like chaining, so you could bounce a shield off of multiple targets. But apparently we weren't quite there yet, as there were still a fair # of messy things that could make this not work well.I think Arbiter Hawk mentioned something about looking it, but I don't remember off hand now.
On the general subject of dropping hints, you all would be amazed at how often the devs loved dropping hints at me and making me figure out what the heck they were talking about, rather than just telling me straight up. I figured out Martial Combat was coming when Arbiter Hawk told me I was "44% right" about something. A half hour later I realized that could only mean one thing, and about two weeks earlier was when I posted my "how I would do martial arts for blasters" post.
I think they enjoyed seeing how long it would take. Sometimes it took weeks for me to figure out what they meant.
I was never a big fan of getting dropped hints, though. -

That's fantastic news and an awesome name.
Thanks for sharing it. -
I believe the Detached Camera Controls has hard-wired movement keys, which is why keymapping is not acknowledged. Mouse looks should be.

Quote:A lot of hidden demorecord functionality was rediscovered around I24, including detached camera control (which now worked outside of demorecord). Audio was not one of them. Mostly because it never occurred to me to ask.To answer my own question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bzekKQobB0
And its been there for a while apparently, not just in I24.
Black Pebble, while you were asking a programmer to sneak in an unlocked camera, did you happen to also ask them to turn sound back on in demo playback, or was that fixed and I'm just doing something wrong? -
Quote:Either Arbiter Hawk or Black Scorpion did figure out how to "fix" shield charge (at least in theory) but I don't think they actually implemented it.Spawning a pseudopet on the target could always technically be done -- that's how the NPC versions of those powers work. Since the AI can't pick locations, all of their versions just spawn on a target. However the limit there is that it's a different target type, so it's not something you can just switch on and off without making an entirely different power.
Something like that might have been possible using power redirection, but there's still the issue of not having a UI to enable it. -
Awright, so Andy implemented a new powers feature in I24. It basically allowed a power to pull targets towards you.
So one implementation was going to be for Water Armor, where you could create a vortex around you and suck mobs into you doing damage to them and other fun stuff.
That's the new mechanic I was being coy about. I was really looking forward to it too. You could use it to pull off cool tricks like snatching mobs from across the room.
The things Andy can pull with a 8+ year old engine is phenomenal. -

Man, that Black Pebble guy is pretty keen!
-
That's actually (theoretically) doable with existing tech. It involves swapping in a different animation for the in water state. The only caveat is that it has to be tied to a toggle power.

Quote:I don't think Water Melee was on the drawing board, but Synapse/Phil could confirm that.Soooo... water control... water melee... hydro armor and hydro assault?
I do know that there was a new game mechanic that Andy Maurer put into the game that would have allowed the introduction of an oft-requested ability, and Water Armor would have used it. -

Quote:Sorry, Bus Control and Bus Blasting were not on the list. That's definitely a rumor that I've been trying to squash1 for months. You mean 4 more with actual work done on them? Not just planned? If so: DARN you guys were getting bussy!!!
.....
1And no to Squash Melee as well. -
Quote:You're missing about 4 really obvious ones, most of which were expansions or modifications of what had been seen so far.So other than all these bellow this message... what else? I am now finding it hard to believe you had time to even think further beyond that? I think a combo of the ranged attacks in Beast Mastery plus some melee attacks from Savage Melee would had make my dream dominator power come true:
EDIT: Hints. Tanker, Controller, Dominator, Blaster. -

Please Pebble... don't tell me they were working on Whip Melee... please...
Tempted to say yes just to jerk your chain, but no, that was never in the works. It was too resource intensive to pull off.
There were powers and AT stuff in the pipeline that were so cool, they would almost have made me recover from the emoness of the fire imps nerf, however. -
Unpacking my boxes in my office.

Quote:Oh no. Leaks. Gasp.NOOOOOOooooooOOOOOooo!!!!
1) I can't believe we got sooooo close to getting these...
2) I can't believe we don't get them ...
I always knew Rad Armor/Melee would be a game killer.......just didn't think it literally would be...
Good thing the other ones didn't leak, or you'd be even sadder, and I don't think I could handle that. -
Quote:aha!
Didn't think about doing a macro...great thinking...How would that macro look Sam?
/macro "Start" "demorecord_auto"
/macro "Stop" "demostop"
Starts Demorecording with one click. Stops with another. Automatically saves the files with a timestamp. Would have gone live with I24 (which is why it only works on beta). Meant I could spend minutes versus hours doing shots. And no having to remember what the file names were, or accidentally having 5+meg demorecord files which could crunk out.
THIS WAS A SEKRET!
But not the only one..... -
This isn't quite a Loregasm, but....
If you do hop onto beta, you can see one of the feature I was able to sneak in.
At the prompt, type in:
demorecord_auto
Sure made the last couple months a lot more convenient. -
That's awesome.
What's the AT and Power Set?
