A boy in his mid teens walked down the streets of Steel Canyon, a wide smile on his face. July 11th was, after all, his birthday, only adding to his good mood, as there was no school on Brass Monday. His parents had given him a large pocket of spending money, and he had already planned what he was getting. He ticked it off in his head.
A new lighter, he needed one of those. He always kept one around, it became useful at times. An MP3 player, he'd wanted one for a while, all of his friends had one. A ram stick for the computer, it was lagging a bit in his favorite game and he needed to keep up with the times. A new Bond game had come out, he couldn't wait to try out all the great new gadgets once he'd purchased it.
He walked into an electronics store and began looking around. He hated talking to store employees, so he tended to spend a long time searching for whatever he was looking for himself. A man asked him if he needed anything, but he just said no and walked off to the other side of the store. He tuned everything out as he flipped through the newest games and upgrades for his computer, spending a long while staring at the screenshots taken with a new video card.
One thing he couldn't tune out, however, was the enormous voice that boomed out over the city. He didn't know whether to be angry or pleased as he heard Nemesis. After all, this was supposed to be his day off, but that steam punk's robots were so fun to beat up! He shrugged and ran out of the store, trying to act paniced as several of the patrons looked around in fear for the source of the mysterious voice.
Alleyways weren't in short supply in Paragon City, the boy quickly ducked into one and opened his backpack. There were several small books, a small gaming consol, and a couple trinkets, including his lighter. Most importantly, however, were the shirt, jeans, handwraps, and his ever so famous sunglasses. He quickly pulled off his clothes and managed to get into costume without being spotted, most had other things on their mind as the sounds of battle began from not too far away.
The costumed boy quickly threw his pack into an old box and hid it behind a dumpster, praying it would be there when he got back. He didn't want to have to track some idiot thug down for stealing his stuff. He ran back out of the alley and concentrated for a moment, allowing the free energy that generated inside of him to take full affect.
His eyes, the 'vents' for the energy that coursed through him, were the first things to change. They suddenly lit up with a fiery passion, looking like they were caught it white flames. Of course, the boy's sunglasses kept anyone from really noticing. The rest of his body slowly joined in and began glowing, but in an entirely different fashion. His eyes let energy loose, his body used it as a sort of skin tight shield, making him nearly indestrucible.
Billyboy put on a dashing smile and began running down the street, concentrating as much energy as possible into his feet as he went. Each stride lasted longer, until after a few seconds he had entirely left the ground, his energy somehow allowing him to stay adrift in the air. No one really understood the flying thing, nor anything else about the hero's strange mutant powers, but they all agreed he was good at what he did, hitting bad guys and saving good guys.
A fake Nemesis robot soon came into view, hulking over the form of a huddled family, all fearing desparatley for their lives. Billyboy gave himself one last push forward and allowed himself to freefall, his momentum aimed at the automaton.
He aimed well.
The hero crashed into the gigantic robot, his glowing fists leading the charge, smashing in like some sort of dazzling falling star. His force took the fake Nemesis off of its feet, sending the two of them on a small roll until the robot managed to process the situation and come up with a counter.
The family gasped as the Nemesis robot grabbed Billyboy by the back of the head and smashed his face straight into the pavement, making a small crater. The Nemesis robot stood and slammed its foot into the prone hero, smashing his back under a huge leg.
The robot, thinking the hero nothing more, turned and took a step toward the citizens it had been harrassing. It stared straight at them before it proclaimed, "I am Nemesis. Fear m-"
SLAM!
Billyboy punched the massive construct in the back of the head, transferring an ungodly amount of energy into it's head. Against an organic oppenent, his attacks usually overloaded cells with energy, causing the body to overheat and shut down, almost always promising simple incapacitation. This, however, was different. Inorganic material, things that do not process energy, don't overload. They simply can't accept the energy, and tend to either explode or be propelled away by the force. The large dent on the back of the robot's head was obvious as it slammed into the street.
"Just some of that funky raz mattaz!" Billyboy gloated as the Nemesis robot stood itself up again and reached out for the hero, who was quickly out of reached, he gangly body's reflexes were honed after many years of battling villains in his home town, Arcadia.
The robot's staff was had fallen from its grasp during the teenager's sudden barage, a fact that the robot understood quite quickly. It began running back to the staff, hoping it could reach it in time. It was very wrong.
Billyboy pulled his sunglasses off his face and smiled roguishly as his eyes began glowing with white-hot energy. He released a bolt of the stuff from his eyes, taking the automaton directly in the back. He could hear the explosion before it happened, the robot's entire chasis was in ruin as it fell to the ground.
Got the drop on that one, but the others won't be so easy. Billyboy reminded himself as he winked at the family he had saved and bolted off into the sky. Blyde Square's gonna be a hot spot, with Posi standing there, what else would you call it? The hero turned his course directly to the center of Steel Canyon, hoping he could end this confrontation with Nemesis before it truly began. -
Didn't want to make a new post, so I thought I'd put this question here. How long, exactly, until the event? Need to know when to get back on!

I call on all of you, my dreadful allies

Dreadful? Sheesh, kinda counterproductive to insult the people you're asking for help!
Can't wait to take a shot at Statesman! -
Best-post-ever!
I am a bit upset though, there's so much content now, but once you get to the Salcrow Keys and start fighting wild sleekipoes, it all goes downhill. Doesn't make my gripper (hysteria/seven orbs) feel like much of a hero. I mean, I spent so much time grinding against those damn sliverfish, and now it's like I don't matter. -
Great work! Wish I could afford a pic of Billyboy!
-
Yet again, I ask you how electrical armor would work. How exactly being shocked with lightning provide defense? Of course, they did do it for people on fire, I'll just have to wait and see.

Monica Richter.
Richter... having to do with seismic activity.
Faultline?

Rcichter, Richter... Andy Richter, the lovably pudgy sidekick to Conan O'Brien? Awesome, Lord Recluse is Andy Richter's father!
See? That's what happens when you play connect the dots with just one dot.

*Recluse puts hand over mouth*
Andy...(breathes hard)... I am your father.... -
Lord Recluses name is... Stefan?
Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! -
The plot, she doth twist yet again!
But seriously, this storyline is getting pretty sweet! Keep it up, CoH! -
For those of you who are offended by the fact that every hero so far has been white, do not fear! All of them are stupid, self-centered whiners anyhow (it's almost embarrassing from a racial point of view).
Many people do not see why those of us who are not white are offended or dissapointed by the lack of diverse heroes. Use one of the oldest methods in the book: putting yourself in their shoes. Face it, if you were in a minority, you would very possibly be an entirely different person than you are now. I must say, I may be dissapointed if there were no white heroes in a comic I was reading. Will some people think that means I'm racist? They certainly will, but I can assure you that I am not. Most people want to be able to relate with the people they are reading about, and skin color is one of the most basic ways of relating with someone there is. -
Keep in mind that this is my OPINION. I'm not saying the new comic is good or bad, just what I think.
First of all, I loved the Blue King comics. It had a good blend of action and comedy, the two things I look for in anything I read (cept for Wheel of Time, that doesn't need comedy to be cool). I liked the characters and the dialouge and thought it went really well with the storyline, as in it could have happened in the game without affecting any of us players.
The new comics... suck. They have no comedy at all and they don't have HEROES! These guys are not the Freedom Phalanx I imagine. I always thought that the greatest of the heroes in the city of heroes would be... not losers. Sister Psyche is a crazy lady, Manticore is a jerk, and Synapse is some trailer trash whack job. Positron is the only one I saw as heroic, trying to keep the rest of the team away so they don't get hurt.
And how can you have a super hero comic without super powers?! I always thought that was the basis for the whole thing, but I guess not. I don't know about you guys, but I don't find internal struggles that take up an entire comic as fun. -
I looked up red caps in an image search and all I got were hats, bottle caps, and a rooster.

So, does this mean that the flag atop city hall will be missing soon?

As far as I can tell Statesman's cape is new. Doesn't look like Old Glory to me! -
Fish people are awesome! They always have the silliest voices!
Never heard of Captain Mako. I don't really think a villain should start his name with Captain. Kind of only works in the hero aspect. -

How can you use magic to turn off someone's powers? Mutants have then from birth, tech use machines that arent actually "powers", natural aren't even superpowered, science is some kind of chemical accident.... The only one I really think that would work for is magic! Also, where's the fun in a super hero comic when the characters don't have super powers?! It's also pretty dark for Paragon ain't it? I think the comics they've had going catch the atmosphere much better.

The same way technology can stop someone from teleporting.
All forms of Origin have different ways of causing powers, but they all reach the same effects. I can burn someone with a flamethrower, or I can burn someone with magical fire. Same thing, different methods. I'm sure if Lord Recluse felt like it he couldve gotten a bunch of Tech's together to create a device that would have the same effect.

Shooting fire is one thing, but turning off the powers of every hero in Paragon City is an entirely different feat! -
Not to gripe or anything, because I liked the comic a lot, but....

Now before you say anything, I don't exactly dislike the comic, I just wish they would have thought of a more... heroic story line for it! Apart from the plot holes I can't seem to understand I think the comic looks great, I like that Lord Recluse is tied in to it. Tis sweet that they made my favorite villain group (clockwork) look so badass!
Just my two cents. -
I seriously don't think it would be very hard to deal with the problem of having npc heroes in during a raid.
Just despawn them.
It really isn't that hard to figure out. It might not be the most amazing thing they could do, but I wouldn't complain.
