Skylights. With either clouds in them or stars (pick when you place them)
A window that you can place on the floor that has the Earth in it so it looks like your base is a space station looking down on the Earth. -
I have a supergroup on Virtue that is quite small (it's mostly just my Virtue alts, with a few other characters in it) but has benefited from Prestige grants and such in the past so I have probably about 2,000,000 prestige including both prestige on hand and prestige tied up in the base.
Base Repricing
1) How will the repricing of bases affect you personally?
The repricing will allow me to expand from the 8x8 plot up to the 12x12 plot while maintaining my base's functionality and probably adding the few extra things I've wanted but not been able to afford (the Pillar of Ice and Flame and Invention Workbenches *at the same time* (currently I swap them out in the base editor since I can't afford both)).
2) Will you dismantle your base to gain the additional prestige from the repricing?
Yes. My prestige gain rate as a single-player sg is very low compared to my total prestige, so I wouldn't get much benefit otherwise.
3) How long would this process take you if you were to engage in this practice?
I already broke everything down as I was bored one evening. It took less than a half hour IIRC.
4) What are the positive and negative concerns regarding repricing?
Positive: I like that I can get a bigger plot and make my base look more like what I want it to look like. I like that I won't have to swap out some items that I currently swap out.
Negative: The new rent scheme means I will probably have to pay rent, which is a bit of a nuisance since you have to run over to a specific person to pay it and you get reminded that it's due before you really need to pay it. I do not pay rent now.
5) How will this feature affect you long term and short term?
Long term: bigger, better base.
Short term: slightly bigger base that looks more like what I want it to look like.
Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage
1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?
I do not believe there is one for me.
2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?
I will be able to easily move invention salvage from my level 50 hero to my younger heroes. I will be able to turn base salvage into something valuable.
3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?
I will probably adjust as far as I feel it is vital within a few hours, but I am sure that two years from now I will learn some nuance that I'd have been better off learning earlier.
4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?
Established supergroups that have tons of base salvage just sitting around will get a windfall gain of invention salvage. I don't have that much sitting around, but I think I will be able to get some nice pieces of salvage for my alts.
5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?
I have only a few characters in my sg that aren't played by me. I will look at who they are and decide whether or not to restrict the storage from them. I don't invite many people though and I trust the ones I have invited, so I don't have any real security concerns. I do understand other groups' security concerns.
Additional Notes:
I am looking forward to this change. I enjoy playing with my base and would not want to run a large supergroup, so it is nice to get the opportunity to work with more of the base items and plot sizes and whatnot with my small group. -

Perhaps within the near future we might see a type of "summoner" for hero-side that might better fit its theme. Untill then, I can't agree that Master Minds are prevalent aspects in any "Super Hero" theme. They are however very widespread within the Super Villain archetype.

Having a bunch of pets is not a common superhero theme, but having one pet is:
Batman (and Robin)
Falcon (and Redwing)
Kazar (and Zabu)
Captain America (and Bucky)
Human Torch (and Toro)
Martian Manhunter (and Zook)
Superboy (and Krypto)
I think it would be great if they could eventually come up with a Mastermind-style class for heroside that had one good, customizable pet. I imagine that that would be VERY difficult though. -

I see a lot of problems with porting this over to a console, nevermind that I have too much invested in my PC to spend $ buying a console that I don't really want.
[/ QUOTE ]
... what part of "adding the PS3 playerbase to the PC playerbase" makes you think you'd HAVE to buy a console?
[/ QUOTE ]
Dude. It's all I can do to keep from buying a console right now. Anything could end up being the straw that breaks the camel's back on that purchase decision.
Especially if it means that my character feels more super while flying around using the analog sticks and vibrations letting me know I got hit. -

I think the unintended consequences are unpleasant and bad for NCSoft though.
[/ QUOTE ]
May I ask what "unintended consequences" you are referring to? And just exactly how you feel they are bad for NCSoft?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry I didn't respond for so long,...I forgot about my post in this thread.
I listed the consequences in my post. I think that people creating trial accounts for themselves instead of giving the trial codes to new people was an unintended consequence.
I also thought that creating these new accounts, storing the new characters, and all that is involved with that would cost NCSoft something.
I realize I could be wrong. If NCSoft is happy, I don't really care. -
I think that the free prestige is a very nice idea for a gift. I think the unintended consequences are unpleasant and bad for NCSoft though.
People are making trial accounts and new characters that they will delete after Dec 10th in order to maximize the prestige bonus they will get. There must be some cost to NCSoft for adding each trial account and then deleting each trial account.
I'd like to suggest that the prestige award be changed to a flat amount for each supergroup. -

How do you get the spammer in your targeting reticle?

It seems to me like the easiest way to introduce at least some power customization would be to bring in a new Epic Archetype that had customizable powers. That way, we could get customization without the devs having to go through and add it to all of the existing powers.

If there's going to be Epic Level Travel Powers, I'd rather see Zone Travel powers.
Teleport: Activate Zone Teleport and you get a list of nearby zones (like at a train). Select one and you teleport to the center of the zone. Animation would be the same as the Wentworth's Teleporter.
Flight: Activate Supersonic Flight and you get a list of nearby zones (like at a train). Select one and your character zip straight up into the air. After the loading screen, your character zips down from the sky to land in the center of the target zone.
Leaping: Pretty much the same as Flight but with different animation.
Superspeed: I don't know how this one should look. Ideally, the character would zip off to the side, but how would that work? You just see your character zip off in a random direction without the camera moving (like when you click on a door)?
Anyway, it would make CoH a lot nicer if there were a quicker way to get to certain zones. I got very frustrated with my character who had teleport and was getting missions from a contact in Founders' Falls that took me to Dark Astoria and Atlas Park and Talos Island and Boomtown and Independence Port and... -
What's the point of Phase Shift? When I first saw it, I thought it might be cool to play a character with Phase Shift, but it just sounds like it's not very useful. It sounds like it's hard to get active and then doesn't stay active very long.
Is it useful for something I'm not thinking of? What do those of you who have it use it for?
