Quote:Words and symbols mean things. While the 5th Column are videogame characters, they're explicitly defined as fascists. That's one of the reasons they were so popular as villains (and why Nazis in general are popular as villains): Fascists tend to be so horrible that you just don't feel bad about punching them in the face. When they first came back to Steel Canyon (and points beyond) I jokingly asked if it was wrong to cheer them on. But honestly they're just game icons. They don't do anything besides mill around on the sidewalk, stand on cardboard boxes and now beat up on Council. Heck, they don't even harass civilians like Hellions, Tsoo, Circle of Thorns or Outcast do. I suppose if the game portrayed them as rounding up and registering people or something I might feel different.
Not to say that they're good guys or anything, of course. Just that, as computer game opponents go, they're pretty unoffensive.
Taking what you say at face value negates pretty much everything people have said about why they prefer the 5th Column over the Council.
That and I think maybe you took my post a bit too seriously. -
As much as the 5th is a villain group with more flavor and history than the Council, it kinda creeps me out to see people cheering fascists on.

What's that AE button on your bar?

This. Champion has the BMT channel (Badges, Monsters, Task Forces) through which a lot of stuff gets organized.
-
On Champion last night, people were going from zone to zone, wherever it was. Level 50s in Atlas, King's Row, and the Hollows taking these down. I think that's the expectation.

Oh, yes, I have been having this problem as well.

Quote:Sorry, binds broke. I'm used to binds and macros essentially being the same thing.I don't know... what macros were broken, and are we talking binds or macros here? It's possible that macros broke because of reasons totally unrelated to Kheldians... you know?
And it is possible that it's unrelated to Kheldians, but it affected how my Kheldians play. -
Yeah, a very tiny thumbnail. I have no idea what the OP is talking about.
-
Yes, if you want any of the badges, you really need to join a team.
-
It's not class-breaking at all, and doesn't make my character unplayable, but something broke my macros in various ways and that makes it annoying to play them.
What's weird is that my two peacebringers have different broken macros. How does that even work? -
I used to have a friend like this. There was an added wrinkle in that "as soon as we're both logged on, we're required to team. Oh, and play in a way that completely clashes with your playstyle and demand you adapt to it."
-
It's one of the reasons I stopped playing Peacebringers.
I never got a warshade that high, but if double-mire's nerfed too, well suck. -
I've had a similar problem, actually - I had some macros that would allow me to toggle off hover, hit build up, hit solar flare, then toggle hover back on. Before, I could execute it so fast that you wouldn't even see the solar flare animation - it would look like I executed from hover. Now it stalls at hover, leaving it on.

What changed, Lord Xenite?
And while you were supposed to be mez-proof while transforming, I was mezzed right back out of dwarf while transforming a few times. This is a latency issue. -
Quote:I didn't mention shield defense because while I want to make an SD/ tanker, I want to give it a strong AoE secondary.WP/EM
Pros:
* Passive mitigation
* Plenty of endurance
Cons:
* Poor AoE damage / aggro
DA/EM
Pros:
* Stacking stuns (OG + EM stuns)
* Damage aura to help in groups
Cons:
* Endurance management
* Animation lock could be a problem (more of an issue for some than others)
I'd probably go with DA. Aggro management for WP/EM would be pretty bad and likely drive me crazy. Another option you didn't mention would be Shield - SC would help close the AoE gap, as well as AAO fueling your st offense. (Course, I could never get a build I was satisfied with. I'm picky.)
And yeah, DA/ seems to be the choice.
Quote:Ice Armor / Stone Melee? With or without Icicles? I ask because depending on how you look at it, Stone's AoE is basically on par with EM. (Tremor has lower DPA than WH, but much larger radius.) So if Tremor alone is excruciating, then you'd likely find WP/EM the same.
Quote:I should note that Whirling Hands is broken. It deals 1 scale damage, 14s rech, and a 8ft radius. Either it's damage is too low for it's recharge (should be 1.18 scale), the recharge is too slow for it's damage (should be 11.5s), the radius is too small (should be ~10.75ft if dmg/rech remain constant), or some combination of all of them.
Quote:Haven't you heard? Scrapper survivability is on par with tanks, though. (Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)
The last time animation lock defeated her was when acrobatics was letting some knockdown through. That was, like 2005?
-
Huh, my experience with Dark Regen is not like that at all - I've been able to use it effectively from 17 onwards on brutes and a scrapper.
I can't say anything wrt energy melee, though. I find soloing on my ice/stone tanker excruciating enough, and find it hard to believe that em could be more annoying than that. -
-
Quote:Thanks for that advice - I've been considering making an WP tanker of any variety, and the short duration on the taunt aura is one reason I've been hesitating. I may be spoiled by chilling embrace and invincibility. If you roll Willpower/EM, build for soloing.
Stuns create issues for Willpower tankers; because your aura taunt lasts just over a second, compared to the twelve seconds other auras get, any mob that wanders away is a mob you probably lost aggro on. You might be able to keep most of them with Gauntlet if you're allowed to herd tight, but that may take more patience than most teams seem to have currently.
On the other side, you shouldl not have issues with the slight damage you take from Energy Transfer. WP/EM is not a farming build by any stretch of the imagination; you will find it quite tedious to take out an 8 person spawn one at a time, even though you will probably survive it; especially since they will scatter as you attack them.
ETA: I wasn't trying to be contrary by saying you convinced me. Just, after both the positive and negative comments, I was pretty much "I have to see what this does for myself." -
Ah, okay.
I use sands of mu and shadow maul on my dark/dark scrapper, and I don't seem to run into trouble using dark regen. This being in solo missions set to 6-8 people*.
Still a good point, though.
* My sad sands of mu anecdote above was my dark/sd scrapper. -

Well, now that Heraclea's convinced me to make an EM tanker, I need to decide on a primary set.
I was thinking of Willpower or Dark Armor. Probably Dark Armor.
Just to be clear, 6 seconds is a bit much for barrage, I agree. -
I think it's more accurate that if your toggle isn't on when the mez is executed that you will get mezzed. I have more than once hit quantum flight only to have a mez land after the power took effect and knock me back out of it.

Quote:A friend of mine got exactly the same note, also on a 2-3 week old thread.Someone just sent me a negative rep for "double posting w/o apology" without identifying themselves.
Well, I'm not going to apologize, because there is no double post. The two consecutive posts I made earlier - like 3 weeks ago! - are replies to different posts.
I don't know who's having a bad hair day, but make it evident who you are when you hand our your negative reps before you make any more false assumptions. Thank you.
Eerie!
