Looking at paragonwiki it says reaching level 20 if you're a VIP.

Can't you still unlock them by leveling a villain to 50? Or did they change that?

Quote:Thanks for all the explanations.Anyone pulling Marauder out the door behind him is griefing the trial and should be dealt with appropriately. It's still two different events:
1: photo-bombing Maurader
2: pulling him out of lambda
1 does not mean 2 will happen. As stated, I've never seen a trial fail because of it, but I've also never done it because I find it stupid.
It does sound like someone would almost have to intentionally pull Marauder out of the compound. -
How often does that happen?

Quote:Necro/Dark Mastermind > Dark/Dark Defender in a solo situation by a wide margin. Dark Miasma is powerful. Dark Blast is not.And on the dark remarks above
she is a necro/dark lvl 50 purple slotted. Solo he was down on a +1/x8 setting within 30 sec. Too much -regen, fear, immob, stunn stacked for him to even think about making a copy.
I kept him mezzed for a time, but he kept breaking out and bifurcating, so trying seems like it was a waste of time. -
Quote:I don't know where you got this idea.I think for her, it might have been chasing the clones (or spending time on non-damaging actions in general), that did her in.
This is what I did in no particular order:
Gloom
Dark Blast
Tenebrous Tentacles
Nightfall
Petrifying Gaze
Twilight Grasp
Howling Twilight
Tar Patch
I am not new to this character; I made her in early 2005. I know how all of my powers work and which ones to use to boost damage output.
Petrifying Gaze was holding him until the dark servant stopped using PG or started missing him (I'm not sure which).
I didn't hunt clones, as I said earlier I found it to be a waste of time. If I can't defeat him in a minute, there's no point to continuing. I didn't actually spend all that much time on non-damaging actions that could possibly have been spent on damaging actions. -
Quote:I stuck to him because see below.I am surprised that your offense plus -Regen and -Res along with a Hardsuit didn't top the roughly 160 DPS equivalence need to defeat Trapdoor. Did you stick to him, or chase his clones?
I stayed on him and used gloom, dark blast, tenebrous tentacles, and nightfall.
Quote:In the general case, if you can't locate and take out a clone in less than about 15s on average then chasing the clones is likely a waste of effort. As for ignoring the clones and concentrating on Trapdoor... if you can't beat him in less than about 60s then it's too late and you'll start losing ground when he summons the 3rd clone (at that point his Regen rate goes up to 186 DPS and if you had that much DPS he'd be beaten already).
He didn't have three clones up at 60 seconds. He actually didn't get his first clone up for some time because I had him held, but he'd break out of the holds long enough to summon clones later on.
Quote:That's the general case though, for a Dark Def beating him in the first 30s or so is the way to go, since HT eliminates 1 clone's worth of Regen for 30s, meaning chasing that first clone accomplishes very little. Let's see, that leaves you needing 4016 damage (assuming he's L50) in about 26s (it'll take about 7s to cast Tar Patch then Howling Twilight). That's 154.5 DPS, with Tar Patch's -30% Res a raw 118.8. Then add his Regen at 11.6 (ignoring fluffy's -Reg from a random Twilight's Grasp). That's a DPS of 131 or so needed to beat him before the double whammy of a 2nd clone appearing and HT wearing off at around the 33s mark. I would have thought a Hardsuit and red pills would be enough for that (I'd would have estimated at least 150 for that combo). Sorry it didn't work out. -
Okay, huh? I've seen people do this, but I was unaware it impacted rewards at all.
-
Quote:I'm fully aware that people will rationalize their anti-social behavior and project the cause onto others as somehow ~making them do it~ all day. That's truth mate I require no excuse to convey same. YMMV.
In my experience, people have a much wider range of motives for not being jerks than "That person might harm me." Narrowing it down to that is a cynical and unrealistic perspective on human nature. -
Quote:I was damage-capped with red inspirations + assault + the defender boost for being solo. For what it's worth, I don't think DB sucks. Its just not real strong at single-target damage. It's wonderful at AoE (cone) damage.
I took out Trapdoor at +2, but I was heavily IO-laden, and very offense focused (high +recharge and some attention to +damage, plus Assault.) -
Quote:I don't have IOs in my attacks, but I have +recovery IOs (Numina, Miracle) and the +end proc (I forget the set name). Also some -KB. I have a combination of IOs, HOs, and SOs in the other powers.Serious question, only meant to help me know context for your character. Are you equipped with IOs at all? If so, what kind of "focus" does the build have? (Defense, recharge, just frankenslotting for good enhancement, etc.)
Sorry if this is out there somewhere already, I don't remember seeing your DDD's build before.
Her defense is fine against trapdoor and can take his attacks all day.
I don't need any more advice, though. I'll have a friend come in and trash the EB. -
I've been tempted several times over the years to reroll this character with a blast set that doesn't suck. Might do that now, given this trapdoor bs.
Or maybe I'll go ahead and use that HVAS. -
Yeah, so. No way my D3 can do this solo. I just don't have the damage output, even capped with inspirations. I couldn't even keep him perma-held with Petrifying Gaze to prevent bifurcation, and his regen was out of control after two bifurcations, even taking my -regen powers into account.
Thanks for the advice, all, but it didn't help, and telling me that your D3 could pull it off is useless to me. -
The Honoree was pretty easy on my Fire/Kin who only had standard IOs - she has one invention in stamina that gives extra end, but everything else is just accuracy, damage, etc. I did have a problem from an ambush I forgot to wait for, but that was while I was clearing the portals before the Honoree.

Quote:I like First Ward myself. I have a character in there now, and the arcs are fun and more personal than most. Plus, it's just plain new content to me.I dunno, first ward is one of the prettiest Praetorian places IMO and it's getting at least a little bit of use with the v-day deliveries haha (or not...)
but yeah would like to see more seed-of-hami forming, maybe? and it blew my mind when I saw the MoM area *in zone*

Like I said, he has an easy out and if he doesn't want to take it, that's on him. Is it really necessary to inflame things further by posting the same thing over and over again as if it were some clever form of sarcasm?
-
Well, the other thing about leveling in Praetoria is that there's a bit too much of the ghouls going on. I did not love needing 4-6 melee hits to take down one ghoul minion with the level one damage procs in every attack while every fight leaves my melee characters at 1/3 health or so. Other enemy groups are nearly as bad, while the enemy groups in both Atlas and Mercy are less time-consuming and annoying to fight.
I really hate leveling in Praetoria.
Just to be clear, this isn't about difficulty, but about how tedious the process is. -

Quote:Something happened as my avatar disappeared during my time away from the game. It may have vanished from wherever I hosted it, as far as that goes.Premium accounts, such as yours, cannot change their avatars except to remove them. I've seen Premium accounts that already had an avatar set displaying them, but the only thing they could change was to remove it.
Unless one of the forum maintenance periods changed how it is working, if your avatar was still set from when you were subscribed it should still be showing. If you had removed it, you won't be able to link to one until you resubscribe. -
Quote:That's no excuse to treat them like rubbish and pile sarcasm on them.If they have a pre-existing account they are part of the MMO community regardless of how they personally regard themselves, and even if this is the only MMO they've played, they know from personal experience how quickly MMO's change. Thus they know that things will be different when they return from an absence.

Quote:I have 116 max endurance, T3 cardiac alpha (the side that gives the bonus to fear duration), one of those end mod procs that grants 11-12 end every so often, three-slotted stamina, one-slotted physical perfection with the end mod proc in it, health has the +recovery and +regen/recovery uniques, I have some bonus to end recovery from set bonuses (I forget how much), and, you know, some other stuff.Dark Regen is useless as a damage power. That said, it WILL accept PBAoE damage sets, and if you slot 3 Eradication in it you still have room to slot end reduction and healing, while getting 3.13% Energy defense and 1.8% more max endurance. (Seriously, max end is a huge help in mitigating DA's end problems)
I think Dark Regen with a damage proc and an Interface could be a pretty decent power overall. Not great, but a nice addition to the AoE fun.
Quote:I have Eradications in every power that will accept them on my Broadsword/Dark Armor. And if there is any defense you need more than anything else it's Energy defense. DA's Energy resistance is really low, and it sucks to get hit with a bunch of it. Fortunately, you are virtually immune to end drain with this set, so that's not as big of a worry with energy attacks. Only Electric Armor and Energy Aura have better resistance to end drain, which is kind of their schtick.
So far I haven't had any serious problems with energy. I seem to have more trouble from CoT behemoth lords and all their fire, even though my fire resistance is not too bad.
As far as dealing with end drain goes, sappers and crowds of dying carnies don't seem to do much to my end bar. -
Quote:I killed all the duplicates, but I couldn't kill them and kill him. My killing speed was too slow.I did it with my DDD when he was half slotted. Just kill the duplicates as soon as they spawn, and use HT to stop him from regenerating
Howling Twilight did not stop him from regenerating due to the duplicates I couldn't kill fast enough.
I actually said that HT + MG wasn't stopping his regen in my first post.
I'm going to try loaded up with red insps and a hardsuit. Should be fine.
Would be now but I spent so much time trying to work out my respec I hit the maintenance window. -
I don't have torrent, although I do need to respec to account for inherent fitness and those freed up slots have to go somewhere.
I'll try the hardsuit. I've been meaning to give that specific temp power a try anyway.
