Hey guys, just thought i'd put up the little back story i wrote on Deluge's attainment of power. Hope you like it, as there will be more to come, involving the many versions of Deluge that have suddenly appeared....
Deluge was born Ethan Locke, early February 1982. He went through his childhood as any ordinary boy would, living his life to its fullest. After working his way through the education system, he finally won over a scholarship for the Massachusetts Insititute for Technology at the age of 19, being the youngest to ever do so. Keen on his work to make a clean, permanent power source for the entire world, he inlisted some of the worlds best minds to help run an experiment that dealt with a new kind of kinetic energy system that had been found during the Rikti invasion.
As expected the results were phenominal, the kinetic reactor produced the estimated outputs, and climbed to ten times what they had expected. As this was an unexpected turn of events, they had not deployed all safety countermeasures and the kinetic core became unstable. Ethan feverishly tried to hold containment on the reactor whilst getting all personell clear of the site, as he did not want his experiment to cost innocent lives.
In a last ditch effort to hold the containment, Ethan realised the only way to shut the reactor down was to stop the kinetic movement of the core. He entered the room wearing a special suit, modified from Rikti battle armour, and tried to manually stop the reaction. After much fighting with the computer systems and containment grids, he realised the only way to stop the critical mass from breaching was to disrupt the kinetic core with his own body, hoping that the containment suit would be enough to slow it down.
And he was right...
As Ethan plunged into the core, battling the intense forces that were ripping away at his body, he felt the energy levels dropping, slowing down the reaction. As he passed out into darkness, the core went into a localised supernova, bonding Ethans body with the containment suit, burning away all dispensible materials on both the suit and his body, filling the space with pure energy.
When Ethan finally came to his senses, he realised something was wrong. He could feel everything around him, as an enervating field, coming from the Earth's core. He found that the explosion had imbued him with the power to control the energy of everything around him, including the force of the Earth itself. As he worked himself from the rubble, he ran into a special Arachnos Strike Force, that had been sent to clear up the survivors of the disaster. The Strike Force tried to subdue Ethan, but he over-whelmed them with his raw power, sending his own body into a supernova, stopping almost everyone around him. The sole survior explained to Ethan that they sabotaged the containment field prior to the experiment under the orders of Lord Arachnos.
Ethan vowed to overcome Arachnos and make him pay for his injustices against the free world. So he travelled to Paragon City, knowing it under the guise of 'The Birth Place of Heroes', to put together a like-minded team dedicated to wiping out injustice and the fall of Lord Arachnos. This is when he joined the Precision Rangers, a supergroup that was totally dedicated to wiping out the criminal element in the city.
The fight carries on today......... -
CONGRATULATIONS!
You will be missed Wam, even though playing CoV and having altholism meant lack of teaming with you recently, doesn't diminish the fact that we have had a huge laugh-riot teaming in the past
And my missus is due in about 3 weeks, so a little 'break' may be in order, but i'm sure i'll still be around. Lemme know when this big Bloody Bay battle is going to happen, and i'll definately be there to kick your butt one last time -
Hmm, after a bit more play just before i was rudely kicked off (:P) I found myself getting into a little more trouble than before with members of the Legacy Chain. Luckily, my choice of the pulse rifle helped me finish off the enemy before then finished me off, whilst keeping other minions down with force bolt. Perhaps the pulse rifle my be a little useless in PvP (which is the buld i am aiming for) but for now in PvE, i think im going to stick with this.
/ninjaedit STILL not died yet though -
I was thinking leadership, but then as i've solo'd all my missions to 11 and not died once, the knock back from pulse rifle is a god send
-
All i have to say is......
......
......
......
...... DAMN!
They are amazing! I played a Necromancy/Poision to 19 and got bored as hell. I was gonna ditch the whole Mastermind AT and go for something else, but on a whim tried this build. And guess what? It's amazing! You wanna team play? It's sorted. You wanna solo a massive mission? It's sorted.
If you are just starting out on CoV, or are thinking of trying something different, try this AT/Build and you will, i'm sure, love it!
Anyway, a quick run down of what i have so far. It's not much, but even at this low level it's a fantastic build.

I'll be up for that! Wait, no...
Tell you what, if i can second a PC at the NCSoft stand i'll say hello

But now I've got my Assault Bot! Maybe things will change

And i've seen the Assault Bot in actionSwarm Missiles and Incendry Swarm Missiles for the win!

Gratz
And probably gratz to Gribbs as well with his evil toon Jagged, whop when i spoke to him last night had 2 bars till 40
-
Have they actually fixed the minions yet so they can recieve bonuses from more than just DMG and ACC enhancements?
-
Very true, but then my minions don't get their buffs from me whilst im in PFF and don't recieve their inherent buff either, so running Maneuvers and Tactics would be a waste of time
-
Please feel free to comment/critique this build. I'm looking to have it run well in PvE, but be much more geared towards PvP with the two knockback/down attacks, so the minions can concentrate fire and the detention bubble for any stragglers that get in the way. I'm sure once you scan the build you'll see where i'm trying to go with it
Also, when the level cap is raised, i'll be looking towards Personal Force Field and Force Bubble for extra protection for myself, or at least see what epic pools become open to us

Just started my Robotics/Force Field MM and had a wonderful PvP thought. Force Bolt with 3 accuracy, 2 recharge, keep the opponent pinned down to the floor while your robots opena can of whoop [censored]
And thats only at a low lvl!
-
Seems like a good build, but more on the PvP front, i'd lose a couple of hold durations and replace them with recharge rates as this will drop toggles, so hitting them will be more important than the length they are held for, especially with the 50% reduction in accuracy for PvP. Love the play on words in the name by the way

I agree with the starting posters opinion...to a point, having a lvl 50 Tanker, sitting back and watching really isnt my play style...I prefer gettin hands on and stuck in, so to speak. Whether you like a MM or not is completely down to your play style..
[/ QUOTE ]
I too started as a tanker, fire/fire to be exact, so i guess sitting back and not doing the work for once is a god send -

Yeah I be up for bloody bay might get me master mind out to help deffend the villain base.

Then you shall perish under a hail of blue glittery balls!! (In no way affiliated with the rather sick Gary Glitter) -
Sulphur SL50 Fire/Fire Tank ready and waiting to bag some GM's and hopefully a hami-o this time
Won't be there till 9, but i'm sure someone can keep me a seat warm
-
Hmmm, didn't realise there was a hamidon raid tonight as well. Perhaps take Sulphur there to pwn some GM's then get everyone at the raid to pile into BB? Sounds like a plan
-
I'm sitting here (at work oddly enough
) and i've suddenly been overcome with the sudden urge to blast the hell out of some villains. So, with regards to this, i think we should initiate a base strike in Bloody Bay tonight at 9pm? If anyone fancies it, or is having the same odd urge as me, sign up below
-
I believe the "Deal with Niles Worthington" mission is bugged as both me and cliff tried it yesterday and got no badge and no end to the arc either
Means i am now missing a badge
-
Bah, puny masterminds are no match for the mighty blaster!
-
Personally, i think Stalkers are far from over powered. I've spent a lot of time in Bloody Bay as my blaster, fighting all AT's, and to be honest, getting a good return on kills. I have met a lot of stalkers trying to hit their AS with not much success as even when they do hit, it doesn't seem to do a great amount of damage, and certainly isnt in the region of being able to 1-2 shot me. Even so, after the AS is executed, the is always a pause of a few seconds beore another strike can be launched. If of course you are on your toes, you can be well out of dodge without breaking a sweat. I guess its just down to being aware of your surroundings
