Pics! Where are the pics, dammit!

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Soon.

Actually I'm converting them from RAW format now, I'll have a page with them up once that's done.
  2. Got back just a bit ago. For anyone that was there, I was the person with both a camcorder (that didn't see much use) and a still camera with a huge flash around his neck.

    Pictures are coming soon.

And by soon, I actually mean soon as in later tonight, not "Soon (TM)".

For those of you who did sign up, the time has changed to 5pm

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Bleh, ick!

...OK, it doesn't really mean it conflicts with anything else for me, but it means I have to wake up two hours earlier.

Then again, maybe they knew people would start showing up at least two hours early anyway, and just decided to make it official.

The caps serve no purpose. Its like Jack or somebody got it into their that X villain group should only be fought at X level. Like there are no Lost over level 30 or something.

We should never ever outlevel a contact or content.

It just makes no sense. Not from a playability standpoint or even from a content standpoint.

I shouldnt have to LOWER myself for content. The content needs to RAISE itself to my level. There should be no caps.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Agree completely. I really hate that in order to get the most plot (missions), I basically have to avoid teaming, skip TFs/SFs until I can auto-exemplar (or whatever the villain version is) for them, and in some cases stay in perma-debt, and still I miss things.

Exemplaring down to join someone else for the content is not the same. You don't get the clues, you don't get the full dialogue with the contact, and you don't get the souvineer.

I hate to bring up That Other Game, but it's one thing Blizzard did right - quests I'd outleveled showed up in the list as gray, I didn't get exp for them, in many cases the mobs were trivial, but I could still take them and complete them.

I don't care if I'm level 25 and fighing through a mission filled with level 10 Hellions, I want to do the mission.

I understand the mission level caps were put in to keep people from complaining about missions filled with gray-cons (I think there was a dev post on this waaaay back). You know what? I'd wager there are more people that would rather wade through the gray-cons to get the plot than would complain about it. Especially if on outleveled missions the contact said something like "You'll probably find this pretty trivial, and you likely won't gain much, but if you really want the job just on principle..."

And a lot of us want to take the jobs on principle. Especially themed characters, or obsessive completionists. As for anyone that may be upset by taking an outleveled mission by mistake, it's a heck of a lot easier to solo out an unwanted mission full of gray-cons than an unwanted mission with an AV.

And since you can't get debt until level 10, that's 5 more levels where there's no debt.

Many of us are used to going through the low levels when you could start getting debt at level 5 and we did and that meant that it took about twice as long to get from 5 to 10 as it does now. And that means that essentially we have half as much influence as we did then.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Quoted for truth. Moving the first debt level up to 10 plus halving the debt cap was a huge nerf to inf gain for new characters.

On my previous characters, I went into perma-debt from 5 until inf stopped being an issue (generally around 30), and could more or less afford the essential slots plus some to most of the rest, depending on the build. Now, debt starts later and wears off faster (half cap). In CoV, add that to the missing bonuses for street hunting plus the lack of rich high-level villains to hand out infamy to anyone they happen to like, and it adds up to people having trouble trying to keep even their core enhancements up to date.
  6. Suggestion - include the min/max levels for each, so we know how much we can train up before we risk missing an arc or badge.
  7. Unless it changed recently, content is given based on security level (or threat level), not combat level. What this means is that if you are trying to get all the content that expires when you hit (for example) level 10, don't train up past 9. You can keep playing, queueing up level-ups, but for the purpose of offered content, you're still level 9, though mobs in missions will still scale to your combat level. The disadvantage, of course, is you're facing mobs with abilities scaled to the powers and slots you'd be expected to have at that level, so it can be a bit tougher in some cases.

(On an unrelated note - falloutdnb, your avatar owes me a new keyboard, this one has Dr. Pepper in it now.)
  8. The really strange thing is, the night before you posted this, I had an odd dream that the devs were adding kaiju as an epic AT.

In trying to catch up with new posts here it dawned on me; The Colorado River = Red River.

Got this from a website when I went looking to double check my memory:

    [ QUOTE ]
The Colorado River was originally named Rio Colorado or "Red River" by the Spanish.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ](Snipped the rest.)

Yes that could work very well, and not only because of that.

In CoH, there are two Red Rivers - one that flows Southeast through the Hollows into Talos, and another that flows North through Founder's Falls, also into Talos. It's clear on this map that they're completely seprate until they drain into the bay that Talos Island is in (which is very clearly a bay, not just another river), and in fact drain into it quite a ways apart.

In North America, there are two Colorado rivers. One goes through the Grand Canyon, the other goes through central Texas.

So Red River = Colorado River in more than one way.

SoW will be nerfed. Fungi tunic will be no-drop. Turgur's insects is much harder to land. Snare won't stick.

    (Too much in-jokes?)

    [/ QUOTE ]
There can never be too much in-jokes.

Also, pets will now take XP proportianal to how much damage they do, enhancements will all drop by a level when you die unless you are revived by someone at least 34th level, and players will no longer accumulate debt - they will simply lose XP instead.

(As an aside, your post made me think a bit and wonder why Kinetics defenders/controllers aren't in more demand. I mean, Speed Boost is almost like SoW + Clarity + Alacrity all in one - some sort of mutant triple mega-crack. Just don't tell the devs, or it'll be hit with the nerf-bat for certain. )
