Go for it, maybe you will get luck and the squeeky wheel will get the grease. I can tell you one thing, good arguments and clear suggestions are recived better by the community, but it is your choice. I can promise you one more thing, bitting my head off when I try to make a reasonable suggestiong acomplishes nothing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *sigh of annoyance*

Oh Zyphoid, you try this schtick every time this subject comes up and it always, always fails.

I am sorry that you covertly feel that people redside should all shut up and sit down until you decide otherwise. Sadly it does not work quite that way.

"Good arguments and clear suggestions" have been made by the ton, sadly they are usually ignored. Hell, we've been trying to get that ***-damn bugged technician in the LRSF fixed for what, almost two years now? He has not been fixed and I doubt he will ever be fixed. Why not? Because villain stuff is low priority.

I am sorry you dislike this REALITY, but it changes nothing. Have a nice day.

"Oh but you got the RWZ!" you cry. Did we....? The RWZ is for heroes. The developers allow villains into the RWZ as an afterthought. We know this because one of the first things we do is go rescue Longbow officers..... and if you think a single one of my villains gives a damn whether or not those two idiots Fusionette and Faultline live or die, I suggest you think again. I would hazard a guess I am not alone in that.

Emphasis added for the bit I was mostly replying to, since I really can't believe that this thread is still getting new posts and just felt like derailing for a post or two.

My Fire/Kin Corruptor loves having Fusionette and Faultline along on those missions. [...]

So while I understand that your statement reflects your opinion, I have to most vehemently disagree from my end.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, "I would hazard a guess that I am not alone in [not being interested in shepherding Fusionette and Faultline through missions, and finding this requirement to be out of character]" is not the equivalent of "I just KNOW everyone in CoV thinks the exact same way I do!"

I am sure there are those of you who enjoy squiring F & F around. There are also those of us who really would rather do something else.

So we do it - usually somewheres outside the RWZ. Problem solved - but also "new" content some of us are not really that interested in running. Especially on Corruptors.

    [/ QUOTE ]

1)There is no fence, the majority of players have access to both and play to their fancy.

    2) Scrolled back quite a few pages which confirmed my recollection. The folks asking for a lions share of new stuff are self-proclaimed predominantly red side players.

    This trend will continue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Please point me to the post where I said the "lion's share" of new stuff should be for red-side only.

What I DID say was that yes, Virginia, it is true.....! Villains do deserve some new content IN THE FORM OF NEW MISSIONS SLANTED TOWARD THEIR OUTLAW STATUS, AND, I SAID AND......!, we need some new strike-forces and zones. Yep, I did say those things, 110% guilty.

In my opinion, if you come up with something that's fun to do, it should be given to everyone, regardless of what side they play on. That's been the Devs' mission from day one - make the game fun to play.

I'd really, honestly respect you more if you came right out and said, "I hate CoV, I don't want the developers paying any attention to it and I hope they pull the plug on it any day now. And they can give me all the goodies when they do. Yay!"

That would be rude, but honest.

If these two games were "the same," as you keep implying.... you'd be a tidge less worried about making sure the stuff you like got the lion's share of the attention. But that's not how it works, is it?

Also, I disagree that giving heroes safeguards was a mistake. It was a smart move.

The question here becomes, "How do we know that we want a character like Pain's in the first place?" I mean, where's the rationale?

How do we know you're good at what you do? Why do these sets make these powers better? How do they stack up to what you used to have? Why in fact do you recommend these powers....?

What do you use this alt for? Farming? Soloing missions? Team play only? What? What does it do well?

There is just no rationale here.

Actually, I've followed a few of the recent threads about CoV as far as my tolerance for ridiculous forum antics would allow, and don't seem to recall so much sentiment about how "CoV sucks." I do seem to recall plenty of people stating honest, well-thought-out reasons why they don't prefer to play on the redside, ranging from personal preference for heroic characters, the graphics intensive nature of the zones, and the general dismal aesthetic appeal, but I can't recall anyone just flat-out posting something like "CoV sucks."

So, really, if you can show me at least three posts like you describe then I'll back down. Otherwise I'll continue to believe it's a part of your delusional victimization fantasy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sweetie, I'm not obligated to lead you by the hand and find each and every post re the subject, print it off in 6"-high letters and shove it under your nose so you can finally find it.

This isn't really about past statements which have been posted many times in public for all to see anyways, you just dislike what I'm saying and this is all an attempt to throw the argument onto a side track. Not playing, thanks; nor does your namecalling mean anything whatsoever to me. You'll have to work a bit harder than that, I'm afraid.

My point here is that you're attempting to manipulate reality, but your saying that "no inequities exist" does not erase said inequities, despite what you may think.

    [ QUOTE ]
someone else: Despite your complete lack of any solid argument here, your statement that *I* somehow CAN point to something from I8-I11 as being "build especially for CoV" is flatly absurd, on many levels.

Mender Tesseract's TF. It was made for villains. I'll say it again: THE MENDER TESSERACT TF WAS MADE FOR VILLAINS AND VILLAINS ONLY. Heroes can't do it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't worry, sweetie. Next issue or perhaps even sooner, this content will be 'ported to blueside. It'll completely suck when it is - much as Safeguards completely and absolutely suck when compared to Mayhems - but you can bet your bottom dollar that heroes will get this content, if at least three of them start wailing about unfairness.

Just like how the STF would be instantly fixed if it had buggy NPCs in it, whereas the LRSF's Technician has been bugged for over a year [?] with no fix in sight.

    [ QUOTE ]
I'd also like to make it known that I've played both sides of this game, and while the villains I have will probably eventually play through the RWZ arcs, I AGREE that having villains get the same contacts and missions in the RWZ was contrived. It takes a great suspension of disbelief to accept that a brutish beast with the blood of a thousand Longbow soldiers on his hands would be welcomed with open arms by the Vanguard. Having no screening process is an invitation for total disaster in my book. I personally think that the proper way to do the RWZ would be to have Arachnos make its own organization to counter the Rikti threat and then enter into a(n uneasy) truce with the Vanguard to better coordinate earth's defense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My disdain for the RWZ is not related to Vanguard, or even villains and heroes working together, which they have done many times if the threat be big enough.

My disdain is with both sides running THE EXACT SAME MISSIONS. That is lame, it is stupid, and its pretty hilarious when my villains who will cross an entire Archipelago to flatten one Longbow Warden are told to go rescue three Longbow Officers who have attitude-problems to begin with. Yeah, that could happen.

What you'd *really* get would be three more dead Longbow, but whatever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes but the things your claiming don't fall into that category. Thus the request for evidence to back up the claims.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you think I am stupid enough to fall into a trap like that, as an attempt to divert the argument into a side-channel, dream on.

I know that you are smart enough and read the forums enough to know exactly what goes on in this forum and others. You don't need me shoving that under your nose again in 6"-high letters.

These and the people who actually understand economics.

These are the people who don't care if villains get shafted by the grossly inflated prices that heroes charge and are willing to pay for who knows how long before the markets come anywhere close to "equilibrium".

    [/ QUOTE ]

He never mentioned Luck Charms though: he was saying we don't pay 10,000 Infamy for Brass.

Which is quite true, we don't. Nor do we pay 50,000 for Luck Charms, or whatever astronomical sum they're going for these days over on blueside.

You realize that, unless you can provide some direct evidence of those things actually being said by blue-side players, your "argument" here is nothing but pushing over a bunch of straw men? That's the kind of thing that makes people think "victim mentality."

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have an odd idea over here: I keep imagining that half the people reading these posts are NOT children who have to be lead by the hand and have everything printed out in letters six inches high, and then shoved under their noses with a "HERE IT IS: LOOK!" underneath.

I keep imagining that half the people reading these posts do not have the memory-span of an ADHD child running on three hits of amphetamine and a shot of vodka; when will I learn?

In short, I expect you to be smart enough - and honest enough - to not shout "straw man" about common forum knowledge, and to actually exert yourself in thinking up a cogent rebuttal other than "Nyah nyah, nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah."

I know that is foolish of me, but hope springs eternal and all that.

Heh, it's an extremely semantic sort of argument in general. That one in particular seems grounded in the determination to be a victim. There's simply no debating such a position.

    [/ QUOTE ]

See, that is what is so extremely amusing about this ENTIRE debate: *any* attempt at reasoning things out is immediately turned into "STOP PLAYING THE VICTIM CARD!"

Therefore no dialog is possible; since at least half the participants have a finger stuck deep into each ear chanting "La la la la la la la, I can't HEEAAARRR you....!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Zebras

    [/ QUOTE ]

We are discussing the concept of mutual exclusivity, not comparing either CoH or CoV to a striped animal of whatever color. At least, I missed where anyone said that here.

If you're saying that the fact that zebras have only two coat-colors completely nullifies the concept of mutual exclusivity at all times, places and instances.... well.

"Mutual exclusivity cannot exist, because zebras have stripes...!" Where is that eyeroll smiley when you need it most...?
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    Yes, you can.

I can play CoV w/o touching any hero side content. I can avoid PvP zones, I can avoid RWZ, I can skip Pocket D, and play NOTHING but CoV.

CoH players can do the same with their game.

The two games do however have points of intersection. You can go to RWZ, PvP zones, Pocket D. You can chat with players on the other side, you can group with 'em etc.

But that still doesn't make them "the same game".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly. If they were actually merged, I as a villain could exit out of Pcket D on either side of the color-divide, and go where I wanted. This is patently not the case.

Nor should it be, in my opinion.

  17. [ QUOTE ]
Yup, pretty much. Heroes whined and complained and got their way. But you misunderstand their intent. They never specifically wanted to get content. Even with I7, we still had twice as much as villains. No, what they actually wanted was to deny villains more content. They didn't really care what they got, or if they actually got anything, just as long as no content was being added to the villain side.

See, it's a long-standing practice - hero players would sooner see no content being developed for either side than see anything developed for villain-side.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am aware this is meant as a joke post, but sad to say I see more than a few shreds of truth to it.

We see bits of this all the time, like so:

A villainside player starts a thread: "Why don't the developers pay more attention to CoV?"

    respondant 1: because CoV sucks.

respondant 2: But why does it suck?! How can it ever NOT suck, if it gets no more attention?!

respondant 1: I don't want more exclusive redside content 'cuz I never play over there. It sucks.

respondant 3: Villains got i7! STOP WHINING!

OP: We just got i11. You don't think i7 is a bit long in the tooth to be holding up as 'look what you just got'?

repondant 4: NO because CoV sucks and everyone knows it.

..... and on and on the moebius-strip of stupidity and circular logic goes. We recently had a thread with people actually saying that they wanted CoV to get more attention.... as long as that didn't mean that even one issue wasn't swung 98% heroes/2% villains, because i7 was a nightmare to them that they still were not really over! [or words to that effect]. GEEZ, wt*-ever.

LOL @ CoV in general, none of your stuff costs 25 million INF, YOU LOSE" or perhaps "LOL and die" - and other such uplifting statements.
