More endgame content which all sides can enjoy together. We have enough zones where these players are apart from each other, and some zones which are nonsensical (like Cimerora) which ultimately have been abandoned. And ideally, effort could be put forth to improve the existing zones, and increase the available number of storylines or missions which can be done.
Cimerora has a use, though. That is where one of the best Tfs in the game can be found, and so it isnt totally dead. Heroes can run it. Villains can run it. Its a good money-maker for those ever-crafting level 50s.

My problem with Cim is that [to me] it is a massive disconnect from the rest of the game. We have good guys over here in a big city, bad guys over there in several smaller cities including one zone of such danger and complexity that its like will probably never be seen again [G'Ville] - & then SHAZAAM! off we go to ancient Rome...? k.

Would like to see a new co-op zone which resembled Dark Astoria. Maybe ALL LEVELS could have mishes in it, have a big TF for the 50s and then everyone would have something to do. That would be really fun.

There's nothing to interpret. Claws was quite clear when he made his post. He never said endgame content itself was "pointless crap". That was solely in your imagination and you had to take it out of context in order to get there. This is what he actually said.
Yes he did indeed imply that endgame content is "pointless crap" compared to the delights of adding ever more lowbie content. All anyone has to do is read post #244 and see for themselves. I'm really not even sure why you would bother implying otherwise, but that's to the side.

    Quote:
The devs chose to focus on low end content in order to attract more new customers.
They sure did. Now it is time to focus on keeping legacy players in the game, by giving them stuff to do.

    Quote:
Besides we already know that the endgame content people are looking for will be released with I19 when the Incarnate system goes live.
Well, we'll see. We know almost nothing about it and so I avoid sweeping generalizations.

This lowbie vs. elite character [and what is a level 50, if not an elite? He or she is at the top of the food-chain] may be in part due to differing playstyles: some people love to roll many, many alts, playing them all every now and then - or perhaps turning off xp - never focusing on getting anyone to 50, just having fun. And this is certainly valid, because as I said before it takes all kinds.

And then there are people like me. People who do not rush to 50 in eight hours flat, true but who get to 50 relatively quickly AND THEN THE GAME BEGINS. People like me are interested in very finely-tuned characters who end up being extremely expensive to craft for. The kind of cash needed for the best enhancements the game has to offer can take some effort, and so these characters run many, many strike forces.

And maybe we don't actually like to farm. So we want more things for our tricked-out 50s to do.... like run TFs. I state this for the benefit of the argument in general, I am well aware that you would disagree with anything I said just for the sake of doing so. My rationale matters not, right? Right.

oooOOK, I will bite. Translate: if post #244 is not a strong argument PRO-new lowbie content, and dismissive of new endgame content as "pointless crap," what exactly is it? Feel free to break it completely down and tell everyone exactly what it is; I'm curious as to your interpretation.

Myself, I want endgame content [defined in this instance as new trials and TF/SFs, as well as perhaps a new raid or two, esp. a la Ship raids] and I don't really give a damn about lowbie content, and here's why:

I will be a lowbie for [in essence] five minutes flat.

I can be a level 50 for literally years.

Not everyone feels this way, and that's why you don't hear me holding forth about how lowbie content is "pointless crap": some people love being a level 5, takes all kinds and they are in the game just like I am. Let them have their fun being pounded by boss-level minions [<-----disclaimer: sarcasm alert! not a literal statement!] in Praetoria - go for it.

However now we are ready for more end game content. Anyone not agreeing can just not run the new endgame content, sort of how like I am staying out of Praetoria. Seems fair to me.

I find your tone needlessly provocative. Please confine remarks to the matter at hand and eschew personal attacks.

As for post #244, let's not be literal to a fault; the entire gist of the post is plainly an argument against adding more end-game content, because everyone will become tired of it in five minutes flat... or some such nonsense. Oh wait.... we will become tired of it in "two months," my bad. Subtlety or nuances? Looked like a broadside anti-endgame argument to me. To wit:

"I can't speak for everyone, but I would rather have a smaller amount of GOOD content than a larger amount of pointless crap any day of the week."

End game content is "pointless crap"? Whatev.

    I'll wait.
Please see post #244 of this thread for someone arguing that the game needs no more endgame content; it should all be low level new content because players rapidly become sick of endgame additions. *cue eyeroll here*

I have made no claims as to whether or not the developers have made any statements for or against adding endgame content, or of how highly they value it. I was responding to post #244, and there the matter rests for me. [UNless #244 was authored by a developer, which I kind of doubt ]

Somebody: That stuff you're complaining is old and stale. That was endgame content.

Any NEW endgame content will stay fresh and exciting.....for maybe two months tops.
So, just because people eventually become blase' about upper level new content, we should just stop adding any? Also, what makes adding entry level newness good, but upper-level newness is just going to become blase' so why bother? Do you never get sick of entry level stuff? I know I've been looking at Kalinda since 2006. I'm pretty blase' about going to kick Operative Burch's posterior for the umpteenth time, I can tell you.

New upper level content helps give people like me incentive to stay subscribed. Sorry you don't see it like that.... but it takes all kinds. I say, give new stuff to EVERYone.

We'd get those people no matter what claim was being made:

"MY team just ran the ITF in 15 minutes flat!"

"O weally? My SG routinely runs the entire ITF in under 5 minutes flat. We've been doing that since day 1, actually."

... My point being, there is always someone making that sort of claim, often just because they can... there is no way to check on how true it is, and so I usually dismiss such claims without more consideration. There may well be a few outliers who can actually make this claim.

I doubt they are indicative of the majority of experiences in Praetoria. Don't have any hard data, of course... just a guess.

First, I never said anything to him about "ganking" him, or made any threat to him whatsoever. That would be ridiculous; beside, wo probably dont even play on the same server.

Second, judging from the amount of "OMG, Nerf stalkers!" we have seen in the past from people upset about events going down in a PvP zone, this may mean that hey.... the AT is less of a joke than some people seem to think. But this is all academic.

....What part of "Hide is the thing that allows a Stalker to do what they do" do you people not understand? I understand it just fine. That;s why I avoid Knives misisons, or one of the reasons at least.

Stalkers cannot operate without Hide. I am not certain how having Hide makes Stalkers "a joke AT," but whatever. Have you actually ever played a Stalker past level 20? Don't answer that here, since I expect only the usual forum chest-beating, that's just a rhetorical question.

Not to mention PvP. Go to Warburg and see how funny you find 'em then. They lose a lot of their humor value there, you can be sure.

I am loving the stories of Praetoria, but I have never been so bloody furiously angry and very unhappy and NOT HAVING FUN in this game before, over anything. And this is repeatedly, mission after mission, that I feel this way.
Do what I did: reroll your Praetorian in either the Isles or Paragon. Suddenly all the stress, the fuss, the angst is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT GONE!, and you can enjoy leveling your character again.

My re-roll is currently level 7 and he's having so much fun. Plus he has a jetpack. He's building SG prestige. He's enjoying Kinetic Melee at an appropriate level of challenge, instead of having to fight off spawns of 20 NPCs, all of whom wield boss-level powers... but they're minions.

Yup... I see nothing not to like.

*Hard-hitting, effective and in-demand players who completely skip the Fitness pool.

*People who actually use the Storm pool effectively and well, keeping other players on the team in mind. I have actually been known to leave teams if I see a Stormie on the roster, particularly if the Stormie has one star floating over their head and it relates to this set.

*People who use KB to benefit other players on the team, especially melee types who are actually trying to control/group aggro to keep that same KBer alive.

....I am sure there are some of these out there! I have yet to see an example and I've been here since 2006, but they must be there somewheres

/regens take Stamina because it makes things easier for them. They do not have to have it. But its nice, rather like your car does not NEED air conditioning, but that air conditioning certainly makes things nicer and more comfy for you in July, does it not? Same thing.

I've seen these "oh I don't need Stamina, haha!" types on teams. They always run on 2 ticks of Endurance or less; their toggles drop, they're dead every 5 seconds or they're off Resting. Now that's what I call an effective build!

Or maybe not... I can only go by what I see, and I see two ticks of End and toggles gone bye-bye. Its not pretty

In other news, after much thought I stripped everything off of my Praetoria Tanker, emailed it to myself [oh how I love this feature!] and deleted him, in part because my SG has pretty much made the decision to leave Praetoria. A few people have the odd character in there, but those are solo projects and they've said as much.

I rerolled him as a Brute. He picked up his stuff at the post office [so to speak] was was ready to run out the gate. He's tearing through Mercy, having a blast and I am already more pleased with him as level 4 than I was with him as a level 14 in Praetoria.

I will be back to Praetoria when they do some serious adjusting to what goes on in there. .

Neko: I've always said, take away Hide and stalkers are a joke AT. Maybe you should play a scrapper and you'd have a chance at actually surviving those ambushes.
    ..... OMG.

Stalkers are very, very far from "a joke AT." However, maybe we could take this statement, apply it to a few other ATs and see what we get:

*Take away their shields, and Tankers are a joke AT!

*Take away Domination, and Doms are a joke AT!

*Take away their damage, and Scrappers are a joke AT!

*Take away their pets, and Masterminds are a joke AT!

See what I'm saying? Hide is every bit as important to Stalkers as these abilities are to the above ATs. You take ANY AT's special ability, and suddenly they're hamstrung; this is not a special weakness of the Stalker AT.

As for the ambush of 26, I agree this is total bull-hockey and right now my level 15? ...I think he's 15, Kinetic Tanker is stalled while I mull over deleting him and re-rolling him in Paragon, vs trying to tough out 5 or so levels of torment. Torment, 'cuz this ain't any fun to me. I want so much to be enjoying this new content, yet I cannot.

I think my little Tank can carry 10 Inspirations, and I find exiting the mission repeatedly to go fill back up to be the essence of broken gameplay.

Adjusting difficulty down would mean less XP per arc
It wouild mean more xp. Taking away what seems like 50 deaths per mission teamed results in faster leveling. It has even struck me that even with no debt, I still seem to be leveling much more slowly in Praetoria than elsewhere.

That last may just be perceptions filtered through a haze of frustration.... who knows

Slash: It's also quite possible that some of the vets complaining are so ingrained in their ways, that any adjustment feels like pulling a tooth. People are probably still building toons in ways that gimp them early on. Maybe too many pool powers taken etc. I don't know.
Dude, if you can give us tips on how I can build a toon to take that kind of damage from repeated ambushes at level EIGHT, I am all ears. No kidding.

Are you suggesting that holding off on a travel power, for instance, is going to really mitigate the extreme damage these NPCs dish out?! And for that matter, what powers are avaliable before level 14 that would give us that kind of an edge?!! Is Boxing seriously going to do the trick? Is Hasten? - [just what we need, end-crashes on top of NPCs sapping us].... I have a feeling the answer is NO!

In fact, what pool powers before level 20 will enable us to stroll through Praetoria, once we take off the blinders of How [I] Like To Build, off?! I cannot think of a single example! I sure am not finding any on the REGULAR pools that grant such immunity, I can tell you!

Methinks thou art blaming the players a tidge too much. People picking up Air Superiority at level 6 is just not the problem here.
  21. I have no objection to this level of difficulty being avaliable, if people want to crank it up; I just don't think that what we're seeing now should be the DEFAULT. Good gawd, one wonders what +4/x8 other players would be like.

I am one of those "lazy" people usually found on 1 player/x 0 other players. Praetoria feels to me like at least +4. I dislike this amount of trouble, whether on a team or solo. I feel that the minions are overpowered to the point of ridiculousness.

Another problem is that the tip missions feel like they are crafted in exactly the same way; my level 44 Brute ran one against nemesis the other day where she was fighting for her life against even-con minions. Bleh. Just.... bleh.

    Mileage will vary, of course.
  22. I am sorry, despite what experienced players may think - for players new to MMOs.... Praetoria may well be a problem. I know had CoV been anywhere near this hard when I came in, I would not be here chatting now.

Last night was in a mission with two other SG members. The only was we could get through the mission was to pull every single time. As a result this mission took forever; those were big rooms. It just struck me as tedious. I don't feel very "super" having to plink my way through maps one at a time when on a team; and that is when I see most of the problems, when on a team.

One of the three of us was so disgusted she was going to delete her character. We tried to talk her out of it, since it was level 18 and close to getting out.... I don't know what she will end up doing. Meanwhile I rolled a new Controller, and out she went into Paragon to chat with Miss Liberty. One thing I dislike about Praetoria is twenty missed levels of SG prestige. I understand why that has to happen, but still don't care for it.

I think the disconnect here is that you [and others] seem to be implying that people who dislike KB expect to do all fighting with their feet never leaving the same two footprints they started the fight in; this is completely not true. This isn't zero-sum: we could make the run-AI a tidge less annoying without everyone being stuck in the same spot, all the time. People are not saying, "MOBS SHOULD NEVER MOVE!" they're saying, "I am sick of my target getting down to 5 HP, kicking in Warp 9 and fleeing for the other side of the map, in eight out of ten instances."

As for people corraling enemies and causing KB directed TOWARDS melee-players on the team, or KBing threats away from squishies... it is my sad realization that I have been in CoX since 2006, I think it was, and I have never once seen this happen. If serious KB is present its ALWAYS away from me. Team-friendly KBers are like those legendary good Storm players: they allegely exist, somewheres out there. Somewheres! I have faith that they are out there!!

... but I have yet to see one Harsh but true. MAybe you are that one good team-friendly person with serious KB, so that's not aimed at you - but I can only go by what I see generally, which is a whole lot of annoyance.
